Chapter 2:
The Earth: You humans don’t want to acknowledge it!

After blurting out the words, Jing Qizhen and Gold Chain Brother looked at each other.

Gold Chain Brother’s eyes also flashed a trace of surprise, as if he was a little surprised at Jing Qizhen’s perceptiveness.

The boyfriend was startled and his hand on the door also froze. “Hey! What’s going on—!”

The young girl pulled her boyfriend and forcibly interrupted his muttering, and the two of them left the door area directly. Afterward, the girl turned around and asked in a very nice manner, “Is something wrong there?”

“You go first?” Gold Chain Brother looked at Jing Qizhen with an unexpectedly humble attitude.

“I just seemed to see a black humanoid shadow in the fog but the limbs and head features of that shadow are obviously not those of a normal human,” Jing Qizhen said frankly, “I suspect there are other dangers in the fog.”

In fact, regardless of the specific shape, the appearance of that strange shadow just now made him feel very strange. After all, the fog outside was too thick and even the steps outside the supermarket could not be seen clearly. How could he see a black shadow in a farther place?

It was as if the black figure had forcibly pushed away the surrounding fog.

“I didn’t notice just now…” Gold Chain Brother frowned and his worries increased.

He walked forward and pointed at the chain lock hanging on the door handle of the department store from a close distance, “I thought something was strange with this lock.”

The chain lock was completely loose. The others realized that it was not hanging there casually after being opened with a key because, near the keyhole, there were obvious marks of being crushed by some sharp hard object.

The old lady who had never dropped her two strings of candied hawthorn sticks walked forward steadily. She even took out a pair of thin gold-rimmed reading glasses from her coat pocket with one hand and put them on. She squinted her eyes, carefully examined it for a while, and said firmly, “This mark is similar in shape to human teeth.”

The foreigner who spoke Mandarin with thick Sichuan hotpot flavor came forward and said, “It was actually bitten by human teeth? I thought it was the hydraulic clamp that those thieves used to unlock the electric bikes.”

The cashier girl, the young couple, and the middle-aged man looked at the foreigner with some surprise. How does this guy know this?

Even Jing Qizhen couldn’t help but look at the foreigner for a second.

Not realizing what the people were thinking, the foreigner immediately responded to everyone’s stare with a wide smile showing eight big white teeth.

Jing Qizhen silently thought in his heart, ‘This foreigner is really optimistic and cheerful. In such a weird situation, his smile is actually quite bright and sincere…’

The Earth who had been quietly complaining suddenly replied, “Many foreigners are quite direct in character.”

Jing Qizhen was almost getting used to the voice in his head and asked casually, “Maybe you want to describe them as single-celled creatures?”

The Earth snorted twice, “I suspect you are making a personal attack… Humph, you are all human beings anyway; I don’t care about the difference in races!”

At the door, the old lady’s calm and analytical words quickly attracted Jing Qizhen’s attention.

The grandma said, “Although the enamel on the surface of human teeth is very hard, the overall toughness of the teeth is far inferior to that of the enamel. If you bite something too hard, even if the enamel can withstand it, the tooth will break.”

Gold Chain Brother responded, “That is to say, although the tooth marks are similar to humans’, they are not by human teeth?”

The cashier girl was frightened and said, “It may be a human-shaped monster?”

Jing Qizhen interjected, “It can also be that the monster has human-shaped teeth. But from a scientific point of view, it may just be that someone made a hydraulic clamp in the shape of teeth.”

Gold Chain Brother and the cashier girl: …

Hearing this answer, people suddenly felt a little relieved!

The old lady nodded and said, “The basic characteristics of organisms must correspond to their lifestyles. Humans have become dependent on tools during evolution, so human teeth’s bite force has degenerated. In other words, if it is some kind of monster we don’t know, it can’t have teeth similar to humans while having super strong bite force. Considering this situation, I am more inclined to this young man’s speculation.”

The old lady nodded at Jing Qizhen.

Jing Qizhen said, “Thank you, grandma… But if someone makes a hydraulic clamp in teeth’s shape, doesn’t that person sound a bit crazy?”

The earth couldn’t help but complain to Jing Qizhen, “Why do you say it’s right, then wrong again?”

Jing Qizhen ignored the ball.

The foreigner shrugged when he heard that, stretched out his hand and made a punching motion, clearly revealing the strong muscles on his arm. “It should be easier to fight crazy humans than monsters when they are pissed off.”

Jing Qizhen agreed with this statement. After all, among this group of people, it seemed Gold Chain Bother and the foreigner with a hotpot accent had rich experience in beating and being beaten by humans.

The middle-aged man who had been sweating wiped the sweat on his forehead again and said with a wry smile, “So, there may be unknown dangers outside this building and countless monsters are lurking in the store. Our situation seems to be a little bad… What should we do next?”

The couple looked at each other. After being elbowed by the girl several times, the young man finally said, “Manman and I have read a lot of similar situations in comics. The most classic situation is that a group of people inexplicably travel through time and are thrown into various scenes full of supernatural horror elements. They receive missions from a system that appears out of thin air and have a hard time surviving.”

Other people who are relatively unfamiliar with similar unlimited-flow novels and comics: …

Jing Qizhen has watched many horror movies but he has never come across the stories that the couple described. However, according to the couple’s description, his focus was almost inevitably shifted to the guy who claimed to be the Earth.

“What are you thinking?” The Earth quickly became alert and said to Jing Qizhen with full vigilance, “I’m not a system. Don’t think of me as the main god who issues tasks and then asks me for points to buy all kinds of props.”

Jing Qizhen: “…No, wait, you know a lot?” Is this the focus of your attention?

With a sigh of relief, Jing Qizhen continued to ask the Earth, “Then why are you freely giving tasks to us before?”

Earth: …or else? What can it do? It is also desperate! It is just a weak, pitiful and helpless innocent ball facing the dilemma of erosion!

After a while, the Earth’s attitude became tough again. “Protecting Earth is protecting you humans. If the planet is eroded, how can you humans live well? This is something your United Nations has publicly recognized but you, as a human being, don’t want to acknowledge, humph! ”

Jing Qizhen couldn’t help but reflect for a moment, was he under too much psychological pressure and his IQ dropped? Did he care?

Gold Chain Brother looked at the surrounding situation and made up his mind, “Let’s find a suitable object first and throw it out of the door to see if it will attract any strange creatures. Then, we have to find a safe place in this building.

“We definitely cannot rest in the supermarket. There are too many shelves and too many blind spots in our field of vision, so it is easy to encounter unexpected dangers. Fortunately, with this supermarket, we should have enough food for a short period. ”

Gold Chain Brother was very thoughtful, and everyone nodded.

The cashier girl was a staff member here and proactively said, “There is a lounge for the employees and an office for the manager in the department store but I don’t know which one is more suitable.”

Brother Gold Chain replied, “Let’s go see it later.”

Jing Qizhen suddenly thought of something. He walked to the socket on the wall and asked the cashier girl, “Does this socket usually have electricity?”

The cashier girl nodded, “Yes.”

After hearing this, Jing Qizhen directly took the power bank from his backpack. He took out his mobile phone charger, plugged it in, looked at the red indicator light on the charger, and fell into deep thought again.

The others were also surprised, “There is electricity here?”

The old lady said, “There is probably running water in the water pipes.” Those monsters wouldn’t be able to survive otherwise.

The young man from the couple murmured, “This is the first time I have seen people being trapped in a strange department store with available water and electricity.”

The girl also added, “We just happened to be in the food aisle of the supermarket. At that time, there was no obvious sign that anything on the shelves had been touched.”

For a time, everyone had the same confusion. Why did those monsters not eat anything on the supermarket shelves to survive? Even if they don’t recognize tightly packaged food, there is still a lot of pork that has been completely dried and spoiled at the fresh meat counter!

Later, Jing Qizhen and his party entered the supermarket fully armed and brought over the inedible air-dried pork.

Gold Chain Brother motioned for the others to step back and prepared to carry the dried pork to the department’s entrance alone.

Jing Qizhen took the initiative and said, “Let me open the door for you so that you can throw it faster.” He did not intend to touch it directly with his hands but used the rolling pin he had just picked up.

The foreigner looked at Gold Chain Brother and Jing Qizhen, and then bravely moved forward, grabbing a broom handle to keep on guard.

Gold Chain Brother did not refuse.

The girlfriend poked her boyfriend’s waist and hinted.

The boyfriend was stunned.

The girl rolled her eyes at the idiot, took out her cell phone, turned on the camera, and said clearly and concisely, “We can take video of the whole process outside the door from two angles.”

“Oh, I understand, I understand!” The boyfriend nodded quickly.

After the young couple took out their mobile phones and got ready, Jing Qizhen put the rolling pin against the door and gestured towards the Gold Chain Brother.

Gold Chain Brother nodded and the moment Jing Qizhen pushed the door open, he immediately threw the dried pork out the door.

Jing Qizhen instantly released the door and let it close.

The moment the dried pork was thrown into the thick fog outside the door, it seemed to enter a silent and invisible meat grinder and was directly torn into countless pieces.

Seeing this, everyone’s expressions changed.

In the dead silence, the grandma adjusted her reading glasses and squinted at the remaining meat scattered on the ground after being broken. “The weight of the pork was at least five or six kilograms less than before.”

Brother Gold Chain agreed, “Yeah.”

The cashier girl admired, “Grandma, you are so awesome. When I make dumplings, I can never get the right amount of noodles and fillings.”

The foreigner, the middle-aged man and the young couple fell silent.

For them to also discuss the weight of pork and dumpling fillings calmly, these two ladies were both great and awesome.

At this moment, a sharp and penetrating horrifying roar suddenly came from the upper floors of the department store, “Roaarrrrr––––––––!!!”

The Earth was startled, “F*ck?!”

Jing Qizhen: …

Throwing out dried and spoiled pork triggers some special event?!
