- Chapter 100 - Tang Song's plan
Hearing about Tang Song’s actions didn’t particularly surprise Jing Qizhen.
After a brief pause, he considered another possibility and mentally asked the Earth, “Did he only release the information just now?”
Tang Song’s plans hadn’t been discussed with Jing Qizhen’s group in advance. It was only through the Earth’s occasional surveillance that they had pieced together vague ideas about what Tang Song might be up to.
The Earth: “Not exactly. It seems he had done it earlier but I just noticed it!”
Since Jing Qizhen was the only one who could communicate with the Earth, most of its focus was on his side, particularly to monitor their journey from the farm to the airport for potential risks.
As for Tang Song’s situation, the Earth only glanced at it sporadically, which inevitably caused delays.
Jing Qizhen nodded slightly. Tang Song chose this moment to leak the information likely serving a dual purpose of taking advantage of the bodyguard’s yet-undetected status to set up a trap and diverting external attention to cover their escape.
However, Jing Qizhen suspected that Tang Song had probably transformed the farm into a full-blown trap by now.
Given Tang Song’s meticulous nature and his habit of training those military volunteers with new methods every time, Jing Qizhen figured Tang Song wasn’t afraid of taking risks himself. But true to his personality, he wouldn’t feel at ease unless his plans were absolutely foolproof.
In a brief moment, countless thoughts flashed through Jing Qizhen’s mind.
However, when he shared the news with the others present, David was shocked. “We already captured that bodyguard and the people he was connected to. How could he still leak information to anyone?”
Jing Qizhen countered, “You don’t think the people who bribed your bodyguard were just the three we caught earlier, do you?”
David hesitated. “…Uh, I suppose not.”
Gu Leshan was in the cockpit, unable to join the discussion.
Lu Lingxi suddenly sighed, “I can already imagine how our leader spread the fake intel.”
Jing Qizhen was curious. “What do you mean?”
Lu Lingxi explained, “…Once he made contact, he likely pretended to be the bodyguard. Acting flustered, he would complain to the other party that after bringing David to the designated location, he lost contact with the previous group. No calls went through and they were nowhere to be found. Amid the chaos, he admitted to knocking David unconscious and taking him to that farm.”
David, as the subject of the scenario, objectively remarked, “That logic does flow pretty well.”
Caroline added, “…The key point here is that it deliberately signals to the other side that something went wrong midway.”
Jing Qizhen nodded, chuckling. “Exactly! If he claimed everything was going smoothly, the other side might start to get suspicious if they noticed anything unusual. It’s much easier to pretend to be an unfamiliar bodyguard than to convincingly play the role of those three kidnappers.”
Manman, fiddling with a bubble wrap for stress relief, popped a few bubbles before chiming in, “That way, if the other side spots any inconsistencies, they’ll instinctively follow Tang Song’s train of thought and rationalize those inconsistencies themselves.”
Jing Qizhen leaned back in his chair, relaxed. “People are always more likely to trust conclusions they arrive at themselves, while naturally doubting the words of others. That’s just human nature.”

A few hours earlier, at the farm, as Jing Qizhen’s group left, Tang Song intentionally opened a window, allowing the bodyguard to see David’s silhouette as he departed.
When the bodyguard saw that David was unharmed and willingly leaving, rather than being forcibly taken, his pupils contracted sharply and he froze in confusion.
Tang Song had chuckled and teased him at the time, “What’s wrong? Did you really think David had been kidnapped by us?”
The bodyguard, horrified, stared at Tang Song, his mind racing. If Tang Song and his people were actually working for David, what kind of retribution would a traitor like him face?
Tang Song, however, said nothing further. Instead, he casually dragged over a chair and sat opposite the bodyguard.
After a while, a handsome border collie, the leader of the farm’s many sheepdogs, wandered in, wagging its tail furiously at Tang Song.
The dog had grown fond of Tang Song after several encounters of being rejected for food by Si Jiayang, getting its sleek fur stroked by Jing Qizhen, and ultimately enjoying a bowl of noodles from Tang Song.
Tang Song chuckled and rubbed the dog’s head.
The collie, clearly enjoying the attention, lifted its head, pushing its fluffy face against Tang Song’s hand while wagging its tail enthusiastically.
Once Jing Qizhen’s group had safely left, Tang Song used the bodyguard’s phone to openly contact the remaining hidden accomplices in the kidnapping.
The bodyguard, forced to sit and listen the entire time, turned pale as he realized just how deep the waters he was caught in truly were.
Panic crept in as he thought about what would come next. Based on common logic, Tang Song’s openness likely meant there were no plans to leave him alive. Serial killers in movies always confess their deeds to their victims before killing them…
After hours of torment sharing the same room with a bodyguard, Tang Song finally allowed himself a moment of relief once Jing Qizhen’s group reached the airport safely. He even asked Gu Leshan to send him a short video as a keepsake.
A high-definition video of David obediently boarding a plane with Jing Qizhen and the others at the airport.
Tang Song played the video slowly, deliberately showing it to the bodyguard.
The bustling sound of airport crowds, filled with chaotic noise, pounded on the bodyguard’s nerves like a drum, leaving him utterly shaken. His face turned even paler than it had been when he was initially captured.
And yet, Tang Song wasn’t done with him.
Playing his role to perfection, Tang Song continued to mock him, speaking in his usual unhurried tone, “Rescuing someone, earning their trust, and then smoothly leading them away, it’s far easier than a bodyguard turning traitor like you. People never believe misfortune will strike twice in a row, which is just human nature, isn’t it? Besides, David only truly trusts Caroline, so of course we helped him by taking her along too. Thoughtful of us, don’t you think?”
Faced with the layered deceptions, the bodyguard’s mind was in complete disarray. Tang Song’s manipulations had already confirmed the bodyguard’s initial suspicion. David had been ‘kidnapped’ by using the exact same method the bodyguard once employed, exploiting David’s trust.
The bodyguard, trembling with fear, sat there dazed, his eyes unfocused.
Tang Song had calculated everything perfectly. Once chaos erupted at the farm and the bodyguard, driven by sheer survival instinct, managed to ‘escape,’ he knew that whichever faction captured the bodyguard would inevitably be relayed with the fabricated story; that both David and Caroline had been lured away by another mysterious group.
Satisfied, Tang Song finally stood up, deciding not to waste any more time on the bodyguard.
By now, Jing Qizhen and the others’ plane should have entered the stratosphere. Tang Song, on the other hand, needed to prepare for the impending visit from the kidnappers’ accomplices.
Most importantly, he had to ensure he captured all the accomplices while leaving no trace of evidence and allowing the bodyguard to escape unnoticed.
Replaying potential scenarios in his mind, Tang Song stepped out of the room with the border collie, ordering his team to release all the sheep from the farm to create further confusion. He then patted the dog on its head and attached a tiny pinhole camera to its collar.
“Time for you to shine, little one,” he said with a smile.
He wasn’t worried about the animals’ safety.
Although border collies were highly alert to strangers, they weren’t particularly aggressive when herding livestock.
The accomplices, uncertain of how many enemies they might face, would likely avoid wasting ammunition on the adorable, fluffy dogs out of caution.
To avoid raising suspicion, the accomplices would probably bypass the area with the herded sheep and take the path Tang Song had carefully set up for their infiltration.

Meanwhile, on the plane, Jing Qizhen’s group was entirely safe, leaving the Earth free to observe Tang Song’s antics out of curiosity.
Every now and then, the Earth would return to report on Tang Song’s progress.
The Earth excitedly said, “The border collies are herding the sheep! So many of them! But wait… Yesterday, you all ate fresh beef, didn’t you? Why aren’t there any cattle being herded?”
Jing Qizhen replied with a chuckle, “Because besides sheepdogs, there are cattle dogs. For herding cattle, corgis are usually recommended…”
The Earth: “Oh, right, corgis with their little short legs!”
After blurting that out, the Earth ran off again to continue watching the chaos unfold.
Jing Qizhen: “…”
Noticing the subtle change in Jing Qizhen’s expression, the others grew curious.
Manman glanced briefly at the three foreign newcomers before asking Jing Qizhen, “What’s wrong? Another new discovery?”
Jing Qizhen carefully chose his words. “Things are getting lively at the farm. Tang Song’s really stirring things up.”
Lu Lingxi immediately looked enlightened and chimed in, “Our boss is super efficient!”
Old Xiao, Jin Guijuan, and the others responded in unison, “We’ve noticed that already!”
Lu Lingxi smiled and blinked innocently like a fawn, as though feeling a little shy.
Meanwhile, David and Joyce, busy typing emails to their professor on the tablet, looked up in confusion at the laughter around them.
Wilcox decisively reached over and pressed his younger cousin’s head back down. “This has nothing to do with you. Focus on explaining things properly to the professor! Don’t fail your finals!”
Joyce: “QAQ!”
As the conversation continued, the Earth rushed back to report the latest updates from the farm to Jing Qizhen.
The Earth: “There are five infiltrators this time! They split into three groups and Tang Song is lying in wait at the farm. Wait, no! The infiltrators only split into two groups, while one person stayed behind! The ‘third group’ is actually Tang Song’s men, pretending to be kidnappers. He even instructed them to ‘accidentally’ shoot through the ropes tying up the bodyguard during the chaos, letting him escape!”
Jing Qizhen raised his eyebrows. “Exciting.”
The Earth became even more thrilled. “I’ll go watch some more and update you soon!”
Jing Qizhen: “Wait, Babyball, first tell me the current positions of the infiltrators?”
The Earth: “Got it, got it!”
After getting precise information from the Earth, Jing Qizhen borrowed a notebook from Lu Lingxi and quickly sketched a rough map of the farm, complete with grazing areas. He marked the paths the infiltrators were using, as described by the Earth.
Once finished, he took a photo of the map and sent it to Tang Song, along with the message, [Does this match your plan?]
Tang Song: […]
Instead of answering directly, Tang Song sent back a string of ellipses.
After a moment, he replied with a sigh, [I should’ve asked you to get Babyball’s help with positioning earlier.]
The ball was proving to be much more reliable than the camera and locator on the dog’s collar…
