I Really Like the Male Supporting Character (Quick Transmigration) - Chapter 56
When Ah Luo saw the message, the gloom in her heart instantly vanished. Her mood brightened all at once.
With a smile on her face, she tapped away on her phone. [I’m already home. What about you?]
Shen Xi replied, [I’m home too. I have some good news. Want to guess what it is?]
Ah Luo raised an eyebrow. [Good news? Did you rank up again?]
Shen Xi replied, [Sister, do you have some kind of misunderstanding about me…? How could something as easy as ranking up count as good news?]
Ah Luo replied, […I give up. I can’t guess.]
On the other end, Shen Xi suddenly realised—wasn’t that a jab at her? Ranking up was a piece of cake for him, but after playing with Xin Luo for several days, her performance was still all bark and no bite, and her record read a clean 0 to 5.
“Ahem.” The young man cleared his throat lightly and didn’t dare get cheeky again. He quickly typed, [Aren’t you heading off to film in a few days? What’s the address?]
Ah Luo paused. She hadn’t expected him to be so direct. She sent him the address, and smoothly asked, [Are you coming to visit me on set?]
Shen Xi didn’t explain the truth. He wanted to surprise her, so he said, [Yeah, isn’t it normal for a boyfriend to visit his girlfriend on set?]
Even though he wasn’t face-to-face with Xin Luo, his ears still flushed bright red the moment he typed that.
Time quickly passed. The two kept chatting over the phone in the meantime. Every day, Shen Xi would also still show up on time, as the random ID player, to play games with Ah Luo. After a few days, he single-handedly carried her from the lowest rank all the way up to the highest rank in the mobile game. He pulled off one-vs-five matches like it was nothing. He was truly a powerhouse.
Before long, it was time to join the film crew on set. Ah Luo arrived on set accompanied by her assistant. The first day was the opening ceremony, and with her status, she was naturally the undisputed star of the occasion.
After the ceremony, she declined the dinner invitations and returned to her hotel room. She had just finished showering when she heard a knock at the door.
At this hour, everyone should’ve been out eating. She’d come back early to rest because she was feeling unwell from her period. Who could it be?
Confusedly, Ah Luo walked to the door. As soon as she opened it, she saw an unexpected figure.
Her eyes widened. “Lele?”
The young man wore a black T-shirt and jeans, with a cool black baseball cap pulled low over his head. Bright eyes peeked out from underneath the brim.
“Hi, Sister~”
Ah Luo was stunned. In her mind, even if the young man came to visit, it wouldn’t be so soon. She never expected him to show up on the very first day!
Thankfully, she recovered quickly. She darted her head out to check the hallway, and upon seeing only Shen Xi there, she immediately reached out, grabbed his arm, yanked him into the room, then shut the door in one swift motion.
“Sister?” the young man asked confusedly.
Ah Luo turned to him. “Do you realise how famous you are now? If someone catches us together, we’re in trouble.”
The young man blinked. “But I’ve seen lots of people online saying they hope the two of us end up together.”
Ah Luo led him over to the sofa, pressed him down to sit, and said, “That’s because they think our relationship is fake, so they don’t think much of it. But if the news came out that it’s real, a lot of people would be against it.”
After all, the two of them were so different—whether in age, background, or appearance, they couldn’t be more opposite of each other.
However, to her surprise, the young man’s eyes only grew brighter as she spoke, as if two stars had landed in them. They were practically sparkling.
“So, Sister, does that mean we’re really together now? Not acting, not for a show. We’re really boyfriend and girlfriend now?”
Seeing his delighted yet slightly disbelieving expression, Ah Luo’s heart instantly softened.
She raised her hand and gently ruffled his hair. The young man looked at her with eager eyes, stubbornly waiting for an answer.
“What, you’ve already kissed me. Do you not want to take responsibility?” Ah Luo teased with a smile.
The young man froze for a second. Then, his face bloomed with a wide grin. His little tiger tooth peeked out, which made him look unbearably cute.
“I’ll take responsibility! I’ll take care of Sister for the rest of my life!”
Ah Luo couldn’t help but laugh along with him. However, the very next second, the young man raised his arms, hooked them around her waist, and yanked her towards him.
He was seated on the sofa, and Ah Luo had been standing in front of him. She was completely off guard by his sudden move, and had no time to react. She landed right on his lap, tightly held in his arms.
“You—mmph!”
Just as Ah Luo opened her mouth, her lips were fiercely sealed. Shen Xi still had that bright smile in his expression. He was still pure and innocent on the surface but his actions couldn’t have been more different.
His breath was hot, his lips even hotter, as though they could melt her. Though he was slim, his arms were strong and firm. He held her so tightly she couldn’t move at all.
Her breath was stolen, her body under his control. One of his hands cupped the back of her neck, and with a gentle press of his fingers, a jolt like electricity surged through her. It made her go limp. She couldn’t resist any longer.
The shy, innocent boy in Ah Luo’s memory was nowhere to be found. In this moment, he was every bit forceful and domineering.
After a long time, he finally let her go. His eyes were filled with satisfaction, like a beast that had just finished a hearty feast.
Shen Xi lowered his gaze to the person in his arms. Her rosy lips still glistened with a hint of moisture, and they were slightly swollen. Her eyes were misty and unfocused, and her lip were parted as she panted softly, like a flower battered by wind and rain—delicate, yet dazzling.
The young man’s gaze was dark and heavy. He took a deep breath to suppress the heat in his chest and sighed contentedly. “Sister, I’ve waited so long for this day.”
Ah Luo’s mind had gone blank—she couldn’t even speak. Under the young man’s smiling gaze, it took her a while to come back to her senses. She pursed her numb lips and asked in a complicated tone, “You… how are you so good at this?”
Shen Xi hadn’t expected that to be her first reaction. After a moment of stunned silence, he couldn’t help but laugh. “I guess I’ve thought about it so much that it just came naturally.”
Ah Luo was at a loss for words. On the surface, he looked like a sweet little puppy, but behind the scenes, he was a wolf pup—one that devoured everything and left not even bones behind. She was completely rattled.
Unlike her, Shen Xi was elated. His smile hadn’t faded once.
He clung to her and didn’t want to let go. He cheerfully asked, “Sister, guess why I came over today?”
Ah Luo responded instinctively, “Weren’t you here to visit me on set?”
The young man shook his head. “Yes and no.”
Something stirred in Ah Luo’s heart. During today’s opening ceremony, most of the cast had shown up—except for one. The actor playing the minor role of the fourth male lead hadn’t appeared. There had been no news of who had been cast either. That, combined with the script’s portrayal of the fourth male lead as a lively, cheerful youth, made something click. Ah Luo suddenly realised and said, “You’re playing Nan Zhi?”
Shen Xi looked slightly surprised—he’d only given her a small hint, and she’d immediately guessed the answer. He couldn’t help but marvel, “Sister, you’re so clever.”
The drama Ah Luo was filming was called Ballad of the Azure Palace, which was an immortal cultivation love story. She played the female lead, Liu Su, while Shen Xi’s character Nan Zhi was her guardian. In the end, he would die to save her.
It had to be said, the casting was spot-on. Nan Zhi’s personality in the script was almost identical to Shen Xi in real life. Even if his acting skills weren’t up to par, he could just play himself. He wouldn’t need to worry about messing up.
Ah Luo raised her brows slightly and suggested, “Lele, looks like we’ll be sharing quite a few scenes. Want to rehearse in advance?”
“There’s no rush.” Shen Xi shook his head, then reached into the backpack he’d brought with him. From inside, he took out a small insulated tumbler, twisted it open, and handed it to Ah Luo. “Didn’t you say you weren’t feeling well today? I brought you some brown sugar ginger tea. Just rest for now.”
Ah Luo was genuinely surprised this time. “How did you know…”
The young man raised his eyebrows and smiled a little proudly. “Didn’t I say before? I’m going to make an effort to really understand you. I’m not the same person I used to be.”
After getting all five questions wrong during the rapid-fire quiz segment, Shen Xi had seriously reflected on his performance. Since then, he’d even snuck into one of Xin Luo’s fan groups, where he’d learned a lot about her.
Xin Luo had always had a strong physical reaction during her periods—so severe that she sometimes needed medication just to function. Many of her fans knew about this because she’d fainted multiple times on set or during shows. To avoid being labelled a diva, she’d even publicly explained the situation at the time.
Ah Luo’s expression turned thoughtful, but her cheeks were slightly flushed.
Even though she knew the young man was only being considerate, discussing this kind of private topic with him still made her feel a bit embarrassed.
She took several sips of the tea. The brown sugar ginger brew was perfectly steeped—sweet but without the sharp bite of ginger, and just warm enough to feel gently warm. With each sip, warmth spread from her stomach through her entire body.
The whole time, Shen Xi watched her without blinking. Seeing the pallor on her face slowly fade into a healthy flush, the worry in his eyes finally eased.
Ah Luo tried to reassure him. “It’s really nothing. I’m used to it by now. I’ll be fine in a few days.”
But the young man looked at her seriously and said, “But if you’re in pain, Sister, then I’ll be in pain too.”
Ah Luo’s face burned again. Maybe it was because it was his first time being in love. His straightforward, passionate sincerity laid everything bare before her. It was hard for her not to feel shy.
Truth be told, this was her first relationship, too, in this world. Neither of them had more experience than the other.
“Sister, are you blushing?”
Only then did Shen Xi notice that Xin Luo’s silence might actually be shyness. The woman who had seemed so poised and effortless on the variety show turned out to be unexpectedly innocent in real life.
He wasn’t all that surprised, though. In truth, Shen Xi had long since realized that Xin Luo was different from the rumours.
To outsiders, she was a glamorous socialite. Most people, upon seeing her looks, would jump to the conclusion that she couldn’t possibly be a simple woman. Even when she publicly claimed to have no relationship history, hardly anyone believed her.
Just like the first time he’d met her. His wrong answers during that quiz segment had clearly revealed his own bias.
Fortunately, Shen Xi quickly realised his mistake and adjusted his mindset. As they spent more time together, he discovered more and more of Xin Luo’s charms.
Maybe at first, he’d been drawn to her for her beauty—but what truly moved his heart was her character.
She could cook an amazing meal. She’d wait up late at night for him to return. She’d take on work without a single complaint. She’d even try to learn things she wasn’t good at just so she could play games with him. That Sennheiser game console? She’d probably been preparing for it long before the show even started.
Who could possibly stay unmoved faced with someone like that?
Certainly not Shen Xi.
