I Really Like the Male Supporting Character (Quick Transmigration) - Chapter 51
When the groups who had gone out returned to the mansion, this was the scene they walked into.
Bathed in the warm orange glow of the setting sun, the two people lay side by side on a grassy lawn so lush and green it looked like a carpet. The young man was bright and handsome, the woman was stunning and radiant. The two were nestled so close to one another that their heads nearly touched. A gentle breeze drifted past, lifting the girl’s hair and brushing it against the young man’s fair face. The entire scene was peaceful and beautiful, like something out of a painting.
For a moment, everyone returning home froze in their tracks. They were unable to bring themselves to interrupt.
In the livestream room, the audience saw them return too. The barrage of comments, which had quieted for a while, suddenly picked up again.
[Oh my god, they’re finally back! I’ve been watching them sleep for an hour—I almost dozed off myself!]
[Same here hahaha. I was watching Film Emperor Zhou’s pair earlier, then happened to click into this one. I instantly got sucked in by these two live-streaming their nap. They looked so cosy that I wanted to sleep too.]
[I just saw that Xin Luo made it to the trending topics for sleeping. I’m dying. Some people are out there busting their butts to stir up drama, and still can’t compete with someone live-streaming a nap.]
That last comment hit home for a lot of viewers—because today had indeed been eventful.
While Ah Luo and her partner had been enjoying a tranquil afternoon, Zhou Jiayin’s pair had been recognised by obsessive fans at the movie theatre, chased around, and forced to flee in a flustered mess. The athlete and model duo had resorted to street performing, which turned into a series of comic blunders—after a full day, they’d barely earned a few coins and returned exhausted and hungry. Meanwhile, Lu Tao and Yan Jiaqi had gotten into a public argument at the amusement park, which unexpectedly revealed that the two of them had once been in a relationship that ended without resolution.
Any of these incidents could’ve trended on their own—yet the one that actually made it to the hot search was Xin Luo and Shen Xi… sleeping.
The most liked comment read, [Xin Luo and Shen Xi don’t seem like they’re trying to generate buzz at all. While watching them together, all I see is warmth and sincerity—it feels so natural, so comforting. Even though they’re just pulling weeds and taking a nap, these little mundane things somehow become captivating. They feel sweeter than any other pair. There are some couples who are like them—they don’t even need to speak. Just one look, and you could see their affection for each other from their eyes.]
[@My Love In This Lifetime Is Only For Luoluo: Exactly. Those who came to watch the tyrant and temptress consort pairing can go now. Our Luoluo doesn’t like Film Emperor Zhou. She’s just gotten better at acting, okay? Let’s not confuse drama with real life.]
[@The Xin-Zhou CP is Real: Waaahhh… I came back after watching the show, and now I’m just a dumb crying CP fan. I believe it now—Xin Luo really can act. Now I want to ship the goddess with the sweet puppy boy…]
The cast themselves were still unaware of the online reaction.
Wen Yuxin looked over at the sleeping pair and then turned to Zhou Jiayin with a quiet smile. “Looks like Xin Luo and Shen Xi are getting along pretty well.”
Zhou Jiayin’s face remained expressionless. He only replied with a flat, “Mm.”
His gaze lingered on Xin Luo for a moment, then withdrew. He seemed thoughtful.
Back when they had worked on a film together, Zhou Jiayin had noticed that Xin Luo had become deeply immersed in the role. When she later began showing signs of special interest in him, he had not hesitated to distance himself. He went so far as to coldly declare on camera that they weren’t close.
However, Xin Luo had looked towards him with a gaze that was distant and calm today. There was none of the spark or joy that he’d seen before in her eyes. Instead, it was the young newcomer Shen Xi who now drew the warmth in her expression, subtle but undeniably there in the curve of her eyebrows and the lift of her eyes.
Zhou Jiayin couldn’t help but wonder—had he misunderstood her back then? Was Xin Luo’s acting really so good she had fooled even him?
Seeing Zhou Jiayin fall silent, the faint smile on Wen Yuxin’s face quietly faded. A shadow passed over her heart.
She liked Zhou Jiayin. There was no doubt about that. He himself had treated her with no small amount of kindness, something he had already shown on set.
She had a vague suspicion that Zhou Jiayin had joined this variety show for her sake. After all, given his status, there was no real reason for him to take part in a dating program like this.
The two of them currently shared a mutual but unspoken flirtation, and so, of course, Wen Yuxin cared about Zhou Jiayin’s dating rumours.
Why had Xin Luo joined this show too? Wen Yuxin didn’t know.
She’d seen the drama Xin Luo and Zhou Jiayin had starred in together. Whether it was woman’s intuition or something else, Wen Yuxin felt that Xin Luo had truly fallen for him.
Even though Xin Luo and Zhou Jiayin hadn’t interacted much during the show, and both behaved distantly, Wen Yuxin still couldn’t stop her thoughts from spiralling.
At that moment, the young man who had been sleeping seemed to sense the weight of everyone’s gaze and slowly opened his eyes.
He sat up and glanced at the group of people standing nearby. Then, he lowered his head and gently said to the woman beside him, “Sister, wake up—everyone’s back.”
And so it was, in the presence of so many watching eyes, that Ah Luo awoke.
She opened her eyes and slowly pushed herself upright. The young man beside her had already stood up and was reaching a hand towards her.
His hand was long-fingered and pale, and perhaps because of all the gaming he did, his fingers were especially slender, and the joints were clearly defined.
Ah Luo, who was still groggy, couldn’t quite gather her bearings yet. Behind the young man, the golden evening sun cast a glow that blurred his features, but his outstretched hand stood out vividly.
She placed her hand in his, and in the next second, he pulled her up. She stumbled forward a couple of steps.
Though his frame was slim, even a bit delicate across the chest, his arms were strong. As she tipped forward into him, he caught her waist firmly and steadied her.
“Mm… what time is it?” Ah Luo blinked, finally starting to come to her senses.
Shen Xi lifted his arm and looked down at his watch.
“A little past five.”
Ah Luo finally came to her senses. Only then did she notice that not far off on the lawn, several other guest pairs and a few cameramen were still standing around. She didn’t feel awkward in the slightest. She just pulled the young man along as she headed in the group’s direction.
The whole time, she never let go of Shen Xi’s hand. The young man stared at their interlocked fingers for quite a while. He couldn’t suppress the upward curve of his lips.
After rejoining the main group and seeing the expressions on everyone’s faces, Ah Luo lightly asked, “How was your day out?”
The athlete responded with a face full of resentment, “I begged for food all day and went hungry all day as well.”
Wen Yuxin smiled slightly and said, “It was not bad for us. What about you two?”
“Us? We had a great time. Very fulfilling day,” Ah Luo said with a light smile. Her cheeks were still flushed from sleep, and when she smiled, her whole face lit up. She was bright-eyed and luminous, a stunning beauty that made everything around her fade into the background.
[Aaaaaahhhhhh, such beauty!!! Sister is too gorgeous—marry meeee, aaaaahhhh]
[My mom asked me why I was licking the screen. I just wanna say I’m not licking the screen—I’m licking a goddess!!!]
[The contrast is so obvious. Xin Luo’s looks are just top-tier. Wen Yuxin is considered above average in the entertainment industry, but next to Xin Luo she just looks like a random bystander.]
Lu Tao and Yan Jiaqi didn’t say a word. Their expressions were both heavy, clearly weighed down by something.
After returning to the mansion, the production crew brought over dinner. Lu Tao and Yan Jiaqi barely ate a few bites before heading upstairs. Zhou Jiayin and Wen Yuxin also finished early and left. Ah Luo, however, had to cook her own meal, so she stayed behind longer.
Halfway through cooking, the athlete and the model sneaked over. They pleaded with Ah Luo to give them a portion too.
“If you want to eat my food, you’ll have to eat it my way. Don’t you have rules about what you’re allowed to eat for each meal?”
The model clutched her loudly growling stomach and said miserably, “Who would care about such rules when they’re starving to death? Sister, you cook whatever you want. I’ll eat anything you make!”
The end result? The meal was nothing but meat and sweets. Delicious, yes—but also super high in calories. The athlete handled it fine, but the model went back to her room and immediately started working out. She ran on the treadmill for an hour before stopping.
[Hahahahaha this is what you call a sweet burden hahaha!]
[So relatable. Every time I have a milk tea, I get hit with major guilt and starve myself for the next meal]
[Is Xin Luo’s cooking really that good? I thought Shen Xi was just hyping it up, but it looks like it actually tastes amazing?]
[Waaah our goddess is a treasure. She’s great at acting, hardworking, gorgeous, and even knows how to cook. She’s too perfect!]
In her room, Ah Luo took a shower, then did some yoga. Shen Xi, like the night before, went to the room next door to livestream.
Ah Luo calmly finished all her tasks for the day, then took out her phone and opened The Hero Returns.
As soon as she logged in, she saw that the random ID player was online too. Within two seconds, he sent a message. [Come on, disciple, Master will help you catch some stars~]
In this game, each small rank was represented by a star, and ranking up was called ‘catching stars.’
Ah Luo replied by typing, [Okay, Master.]
The random ID player from before sent a team invite, and Ah Luo obediently accepted.
After entering, the random ID player said, [Disciple, stick with me and keep using the cat.] He then picked an AD character for himself.
However, when the match actually started, the jungler started calling for support to follow him instead. Ah Luo ignored him at first—until the random ID player pulled off a flashy 1v4 under the tower, killing four before getting taken down himself. Only then did she go over to attach to the jungler.
The random ID player: [Get back here.]
Ah Luo: [?]
The random ID player: [You’re not allowed to attach to him. You’re my disciple—you can only protect me!]
As soon as his respawn timer ended, the random ID player ran all the way from the fountain to where the jungler was, just to pick up Ah Luo. The random ID player for her to detach and reattach to him.
Ah Luo slowly typed on her phone, [But I also want to protect the person I like in the future.]
The random ID player replied, [Trust me, the person you like won’t mind. And he’s not here right now anyway. When you go see him, then you can protect him.]
That made sense. Just like that, Ah Luo abandoned the jungler and went back to follow the trusty big shot, the random ID player.
Even so, Ah Luo thought that the random ID player’s mood didn’t seem quite recover. They said a lot less than usual. On the flip side, their gameplay became absolutely ruthless.
The random ID player racked up kill after kill, quadra and penta ones, and dragged Ah Luo along. They caught more stars than she could count—he was like a god of slaughter.
By the time it was finally bedtime, Ah Luo logged off, fully satisfied.
After quitting the game, she opened WeChat. She’d added Shen Xi as a contact yesterday and even pinned the chat.
They hadn’t talked yet. Their chat history was still completely blank.
Ah Luo: [Lele, remember to sleep early tonight~]
Not long after she sent the message, a reply came in. [Sis, you should sleep early too. I’m going to push my rank tonight, so don’t wait for me okay?]
The message was followed by a cute cat sticker.
Ah Luo: ‘???’
She didn’t believe him one bit!
