After leaving Lu Cang, Ah Luo returned to her own residence, which was a small courtyard on the side of Wandao Peak.

The courtyard had blue bricks and dark tiles, and in the middle grew a cherry blossom tree covered in pink blossoms. This tree bloomed year-round without ever withering. Its soft, snow-like white petals blanketed the ground, roof, and even the tables in the courtyard.

The air was filled with the fragrance of flowers, and the breeze carried a warm, sweet scent.

Ah Luo was the only person on Wandao Peak who lived in such a place, like an ordinary person in the mortal world. Lu Cang usually secluded himself in his palace, while Lin Qingyun had her own cave dwelling.

Ah Luo entered the house and was about to begin her cultivation routine when her sister, Lin Qingyun, suddenly arrived.

“Sister,” Ah Luo said while welcoming her in.

Lin Qingyun was a cool and aloof woman. She was clad in green robes, and her face calm and distant. She had an air of detachment about her. She was three years older than Lin Luoyin and had witnessed firsthand the brutal deaths of their parents when their family was slaughtered by demons. Since then, she had vowed never to forget the blood feud between her and the demons who had destroyed her family.

Upon becoming a disciple of the Guiyuan Sect, Lin Qingyun committed herself to vengeance and focused on her rigorous cultivation.

In contrast, Lin Luoyin had been younger when the incident happened. She had little memory of their family’s tragedy and developed an innocent, carefree nature over the years.

Lin Qingyun glanced at her younger sister and asked, “How’s your cultivation? Have you made any progress?”

Ah Luo shook her head and softly said, “It’s still the same as yesterday.”

Her sister held high hopes for her. Despite everyone’s belief that she lacked talent, Lin Qingyun never gave up on her and always sought out rare fruits and elixirs to aid her progress.

However, Ah Luo knew that Lin Luoyin was destined never to achieve immortality in this life.

In most cultivation stories, the main protagonist would usually suffer—either from family tragedy or being hunted down. This suffering would spur them into revenge and lead them to encounters with powerful mentors, setting them on a path of cultivation and overcoming adversity.

Lin Qingyun’s story followed this path. After witnessing her family’s death, she carried a deep-seated hatred and resolved to rid the world of demons, and ascended from mortal to immortal in the process.

However, she didn’t know that the true cause behind her family’s massacre was her very own sister, Lin Luoyin.

The story of the novel, ‘Endless Immortal Journey,’ was dramatic. Early in the novel, the female protagonist cared deeply for Lin Luoyin, who was her only family member. However, when she finally uncovered the truth behind her family’s massacre, she learned that her sister was actually the incarnation of the primal demon pearl.

The primal demon pearl was a rare treasure formed in the most demon-infested lands over millions of years. It could grant even the weakest demon immense power and enable them to withstand almost any heavenly punishment.

Such a treasure naturally attracted countless demons.

When a demon leader detected the pearl’s appearance, he attempted to capture it, but the pearl developed sentience, escaped his grasp, and embedded itself in the womb of a pregnant woman in the mortal realm.

The demon planned to retrieve the pearl after the child was born. However, he was found out by Daoist Master Lu Cang, who chased him away. When he returned, he slaughtered the Lin family and was about to retrieve the pearl when Lu Cang intervened again.

This led to the opening scene of the story: amidst the bloodshed, the protagonist and her sister were rescued by the white-robed cultivator and taken in as his disciples.

“Sister, don’t worry about me. I’ve accepted my fate. I just want to live peacefully for a few decades,” Ah Luo said while holding Lin Qingyun’s hand with a smile.

Being the incarnation of the primal demon pearl meant that she would never be able to cultivate the spiritual energy required to become immortal. Even reaching the seventh level of the Energy Refinement stage had already required significant effort and resources for her.

Lin Qingyun gazed at her sister’s sweet smile and raised a hand to gently pat her head.

“Yinyin… I’m sorry…” (2-10)

“You don’t owe me anything, Sister. You’ve always treated me the best.” Ah Luo hugged her sister’s arm and rested her forehead on her shoulder. Affectionately, she continued, “If anything, it’s me who should apologize. I’m sorry, Sister. I’ve been a burden to you all these years. I don’t have the talent for cultivation, so I’ll just live happily as a mortal, and that’s enough, isn’t it?”

Ah Luo’s apology was sincere and heartfelt.

In the later parts of the novel, Lin Qingyun learned the truth behind her family’s massacre. She couldn’t help resenting her sister for their family’s death, but still couldn’t bring herself to kill her after all the years they had spent together as sisters. Her conflicted feelings dragged on for a long time.

Lin Luoyin, too, felt guilty, until one day she discovered that her secret crush, her senior brother Gu Xingjue, actually loved Lin Qingyun. They had been secretly together; they feigned rivalry in public but were close in private.

Lin Luoyin, who had longed to be strong and noticed, finally broke. She had lived decades in the shadow of her talented sister. Why couldn’t she become stronger as well? Why couldn’t she be noticed by countless others like her sister was?

Moreover, her sister could cultivate immortality. She would live forever and have eternal youth as well. Meanwhile, she was fated to live a short, mortal life.

After her transformation into a demon, Lin Luoyin’s cultivation accelerated, and within a few decades, she became powerful enough to face Lin Qingyun.

In the end, the two sisters eventually became enemies because of a man.

In the end, the female protagonist became the leader of the Guiyuan Sect alongside Gu Xingjue. Together, they defeated the supreme demon, Lin Luoyin, and ended her as the story’s tragic villain. After that, the female protagonist finally ascended to immortality.

From start to finish, Lin Qingyun had never wronged her sister; Lin Luoyin’s own choices led to her downfall.

Ah Luo was determined not to repeat that storyline. She would never oppose the female protagonist, nor would she pine after the male protagonist.

Since she had arrived here, her admiration had shifted from Gu Xingjue to her master, Lu Cang.

Daoist Master Lu Cang was also the greatest supporter of Lin Qingyun’s growth. As her mentor, he was the most gifted character in the story—even compared to Lin Qingyun.

He was unmatched and otherworldly in skill. He had needed merely a hundred years to reach the Great Ascension realm—a feat unprecedented in the cultivation world. If he hadn’t ascended to immortality mid-story, Lin Luoyin wouldn’t have had any role to play.

In the early stages of the female protagonist’s growth, Lu Cang’s main role was to provide her with endless resources, rare artifacts, top-tier spells, and innate treasures. He protected her from countless dangers and stood as her unwavering pillar when she faced formidable enemies.

He had unparalleled talent, and he was also handsome. He had a cold and aloof demeanor, and he was akin to a snow lotus blooming alone on a mountaintop.

This powerful and perfect master had captured the hearts of many readers. However, as the story progressed, he ‘stole’ the limelight from the female protagonist and even reduced the male protagonist to a background character. As such, the author simply had him ascend.

Many readers, of course, disliked the fact that their favorite character had been written out of the story in that way. Their resentment had grown strong enough to bring Ah Luo here.

Listening to her sister’s gentle voice, Lin Qingyun sighed as if she was letting go of some long-held burden. She said, “Yinyin, in half a month, the Linjin Hidden Realm will open within the sect. I’ll be gone for a month, so stay and focus on your cultivation. If anything happens, go to Master for help.”

Ah Luo blinked. Then, she suddenly raised her hand in excitement and said, “Sister, can I go to the hidden realm too?”

She’d just remembered—this hidden realm held a crucial plot point!

Every century, the Guiyuan Sect would open a training ground in the hidden realm. Treasures were abundant there, though dangers lurked as well.

The hidden realm was divided by strength level, with different areas for varying levels of cultivation. The Energy Refinement and Foundation Establishment cultivators would be able to access the first level. (2-4, 2-5)

The Golden Core and Nascent Soul cultivators were on the second level. (2-6, 2-11)

The third and highest level was for the Deity Transformation and the Void Return cultivators. (2-12, 2-13)

Cultivators beyond the Void Return realm, which were the Overcoming Tribulation and the Great Ascension realms cultivators, didn’t need to enter the hidden realm. (2-14, 2-8)

However, there weren’t many people of such caliber in the cultivation world.

Since the female protagonist had just reached the Golden Core level, while the male protagonist hadn’t, the two of them weren’t placed in the same level of the hidden realm.

When the male protagonist entered the hidden realm, he fell near a rare spiritual herb that induced a poison only curable by joining with one’s beloved. After struggling through the poison’s effect, he eventually reached the Golden Core realm. When he entered the second level, he met the female protagonist by chance and finally confessed his feelings to her.

Gu Xingjue had been in love with Lin Qingyun for a long time. However, Lin Qingyun had never realized it until then. Naturally, Gu Xingjue wouldn’t pass on such a great opportunity to express his feelings for her.

Lin Qingyun looked cold on the outside but was actually a very kind person on the inside. She couldn’t watch Gu Xingjue die from the poison’s effects in front of her while doing nothing. As such, they joined in a physical relationship, and they fell in love after sleeping together that day.

In the novel, Lin Luoyin was afraid of something going awry and gave up on the opportunity to enter the hidden realm. However, Ah Luo didn’t intend to miss this chance. Even if she didn’t get any treasures, it would be a great learning opportunity!

Hearing this, Lin Qingyun frowned. She said, “Yinyin, the hidden realm is too dangerous. We’ll be in separate areas, and I won’t be able to protect you.”

“Don’t worry, Sister. I need to learn to grow on my own. I can’t stay under your protection forever.” The young girl’s round cheeks showed her dimples as she smiled. Her eyes were full of determination as she said, “If I get the chance, I want to become strong enough to protect you too.”

Lin Qingyun was taken aback. However, a faint smile soon appeared on her face.

“Alright, then. You’ve really grown up, Yinyin.”

She gently pinched her sister’s soft cheeks and said, “I’ll sign you up for the hidden realm, and we’ll go together.”
