I Really Didn't Want the Long Aotian to Be My Wife [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 6
“As long as you call me Grandfather Fu respectfully whenever you see me at school, I’ll spare you today. How’s that for a deal?” Fu Pengyi arrogantly looked down at Wei Zhenge who was lying on the ground, speaking as if he was being magnanimous.
At that moment, Wei Zhenge thought of Jian Yuanbai. A smirk appeared on his pale, bloodless face, “So, you want to be Wei Chengye’s dad?”
Fu Pengyi turned ugly. He waved his hand, commanding, “Continue the water torture.”
“Fu-Ge, it’d be easier to just beat him up. Why bother with this water nonsense,” one of the athletes prepared to take action as he spoke.
Fu Pengyi scolded him, “Idiot.”
He then spoke in the tone of someone who’d been there before, “If you beat him, there will be blood and injuries everywhere. If it gets to the police, it would look bad, wouldn’t it?”
“I’ve previously fallen into this trap,” Fu Pengyi sighed, “Now, at most, it would be called a case of a student accidentally falling into the water.”
The athlete wore a look of learning, “But Ge, what if they check the surveillance?”
Fu Pengyi casually patted the athlete’s shoulders, “The school’s surveillance, isn’t it under my father’s control? If he says it’s functional, then it has footage. If he says it’s faulty, then it’s faulty.”
“As long as the school labels us as exemplary students, and Wei Zhenge’s parents say that we are just, under the pressure of school and parents, what can Wei Zhenge do? What evidence does he have?”
Fu Pengyi laughed triumphantly, “Learn from this. These are life lessons my father taught me.”
“If Wei Zhenge dares to create a commotion, we’ll be the brave students who tried to rescue a comrade from drowning. Hahaha.”
“Laughing so hard, do you think I would get a certificate of honor? Hahaha.”
The three looked at each other and burst into laughter. Even though the weather was already cooling due to early autumn in September, Wei Zhenge lay on the cold bathroom floor, wearing thin clothes, and the cold water from the pipes flushing his body over and over.
His expression was as pale as paper and his lips devoid of color. His body shivered from the cold and his eyelids fluttered weakly. He was teetering on the edge of unconsciousness.
At this rate, it’d be a wonder if Wei Zhenge doesn’t fall seriously ill in a day or two.
Suddenly there was a thunderous bang, startling the trio. Wei Zhenge’s consciousness, which was on the verge of fainting, completely faded away at the sight of Jian Yuanbai.
“Ding dong! Please, host, make Wei Zhenge say the line of Long Aotian: Today, you, under the privilege of the Fu family, used numbers to humiliate me. Tomorrow, I will flatten the doorstep of the Fu family alone!”
“Requirement: Full of emotion, fluctuating and powerful.”
The System curiously said, “Strange, why has the plot started early?”
Jian Yuanbai didn’t quite catch what the System was saying. The scene before him aroused his anger, an anger surging in his brain, urgently seeking an outlet.
Tilting his head slightly, he suddenly began to laugh, “Is bullying your classmate fun?”
“Who is this?”
“Who the hell is…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Jian Yuanbai threw a punch at the jaw of the athlete who had been relentlessly dousing Wei Zhenge with water from a hose.
The athlete fell back onto the ground. As he struggled to get up, Jian Yuanbai stepped on his hand.
Fu Pengyi shouted loudly at another person, “What are you standing there for, hit him.”
“Do we three not even stand a chance against him alone?”
Their arrogant air disappeared after three minutes. The trio stared at Jian Yuanbai in horror – their combined attack hadn’t even managed to touch him once, not even a brush on his clothing.
Jin Yang No. 1 High School was a wealthy one – the bathrooms were equipped with long hoses for the cleaning custodians to wash the floor. On regular days, these were coiled and hung on the wall. Now, these hoses were tied around the two athletes.
Fu Pengyi, who normally sported a short haircut, now wished he was completely bald. Jian Yuanbai had a firm hold on his hair and his scalp was throbbing with pain.
Jian Yuanbai dragged him to the sink, his scalp tearing painfully. He forcibly held Fu Pengyi’s face to the sink, where water was ceaselessly flowing from the tap. Given the design, there was no sink basin in the school bathroom. Consequently, Fu Pengyi’s face was held directly against the smooth surface of the sink, water pouring all over him.
Slapping his cheek gently, Jian Yuanbai asked condescendingly, “Classmate, why aren’t you replying to my questions?”
“I said, is bullying your classmate fun?”
While asking, he took out his phone to capture Fu Pengyi’s dismal condition.
Fu Pengyi’s face flushed red, “Let me go, do you know who my father is?”
Despite hearing him, Jian Yuanbai did not respond. He held Fu Pengyi’s hair, making it difficult for him to breathe as the water gushed directly into his nose and mouth. To escape, Fu Pengyi tried turning his head, but the pain on his scalp forced him to recoil.
“Heh, it hurts like hell,” he complained to himself, almost feeling that his scalp was ripped off.
“Is bullying your classmate fun?”
Fu Pengyi snapped back, “Let go of me or I’ll make my dad kill you.”0
Jian Yuanbai remained unfazed, repeatedly asking the same question. His demeanor grew increasingly cold as Fu Pengyi’s boasts began to weaken.
Eventually, Fu Pengyi couldn’t tolerate the relentless drowning and throbbing pain in his skull, gritting his teeth to say, “This is not fun, not fun at all.”
Jian Yuanbai released his grip, and Fu Pengyi collapsed on the ground, looking as pitiful as a dead dog.
Only then did Jian Yuanbai remember, “System, you said you wanted Wei Zhenge to say Long Aotian’s quote, right?”
System responded, “Yes.”
Jian Yuanbai squatted down beside Wei Zhenge, who had been propped up against the wall, looking distressed, “But it seems like he’s passed out.”
“What do I do? Should I perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on him?”
Wearing an unsettled look, he appeared to be making a monumental life decision, “But what about my first kiss? I want to save it for my wife.”
“Moreover, if I gave it to him, wouldn’t that be inappropriate?”
The System, clearly vexed, said, “Has the water you poured on Fu Pengyi’s face seeped into your brain as well?”
“He fainted from a fever, understand? He didn’t drown.”
Upon hearing this, Jian Yuanbai immediately reached out to feel Wei Zhenge’s forehead – it was scorching hot. He smacked his lips, and muttered, “So hot.”
Even with that minimal action, the System managed to detect a whiff of regret.
“God, even I feel like my brain has been waterlogged.”
“Can we revisit this dialogue task another time?” Jian Yuanbai asked while lifting up the soaking-wet Wei Zhenge, who felt as though he had just been fished out of water.
System declared, “It has to be done within one day. There’s no way now, you should be prepared for the deduction in performance.”
Jian Yuanbai’s gaze fell on Fu Pengyi, now somewhat recovered and busy untangling the hoses from him. An idea struck him, “Who said there’s no way? Let’s give it a shot.”
“You three, come to the hospital with me,” Jian Yuanbai commanded coldly.
Responding with a sneer, Fu Pengyi said, “Even if you want to take us for a check-up, it’s over for you. I will make sure my father ruins you.”
Clearly, he hadn’t given in nor learned his lesson. As soon as Jian Yuanbai released him, he regained his cockiness.
With a look of surprise, Jian Yuanbai said, “As someone responsible for reducing Wei Zhenge to this state, I, as his guardian, have a right to demand that you accompany us to the hospital.”
Upon hearing this, Fu Pengyi rolled his eyes and retorted, “Why on earth should I go to the hospital with you?”
He was about to turn around and leave, but a statement stopped him in his tracks.
“So you don’t mind when the entire school sees you pressed against the sink looking so terrified?”
“You don’t mind if your father, and Tong Le Rong, see you in such a condition?”
By the time they had rushed to the hospital, Jian Yuanbai was still somewhat surprised, “Tian Tian, how did you know that saying so could threaten him?”
The System responded, “Fu Pengyi’s arrogance and bullying spirit would inevitably mean he highly values his reputation. Moreover, he’s just a high school student, placing even more importance on his self-esteem than anything else.”
“How did you think to record a video?”
Without a second thought, Jian Yuanbai responded, “I just thought that it would be even more infuriating to him. You’re so smart.”
For some reason, being praised for his intelligence by Jian Yuanbai didn’t give the System any sense of accomplishment.
Fu Pengyi and his two companions were chased by Jian Yuanbai to the outside of the hospital ward. With the video in his hand, Jian Yuanbai wasn’t afraid of them running off now that they were at the hospital.
Within the quiet ward, there were only him and Wei Zhenge. Wei Zhenge lay on the blue and white striped hospital bed, revealing a thin and weak wrist under the broad sleeves of the hospital gown.
A needle was inserted into the back of his hand for an intravenous drip. The dark blue veins and tiny red blood vessels on his hand were clearly visible.
He’s too thin. Jian Yuanbai recalled the lean body he saw when he changed Wei Zhenge’s wet clothes and looked at Wei Zhenge, unconscious on the hospital bed with a pale face and couldn’t help feeling a bit heartbroken.
Suddenly, Wei Zhenge’s brow furrowed slightly. Jian Yuanbai thought he was about to wake up and quickly went over to check.
Under his gaze, Wei Zhenge shed tears.
His eyes were closed, and he was still unconscious, but crystal-clear tears slowly slid from the corners of his eyes, wetting his cheek.
Perhaps he was having a bad dream. He cried silently, his tears merging with the black strands of his hair; wet tear tracks marked his beautiful face, occasionally letting out a very faint whimper.
In truth, Jian Yuanbai didn’t know much about Wei Zhenge’s story. Playing a peripheral role, all he knew were some broad plot details: Wei Zhenge’s mother jumped off a building with her unborn child when Wei Zhenge was little. Following her death, Wei Zhenge led a miserable life under an unloving father and a harsh stepmother.
During high school, he experienced bullying. Determined to not put up with it any longer, Wei Zhenge reported it to the police. The school and the Wei and Fu households decided to downplay the incident. But him taking this step had its own meaning; at least, post this incident Fu Pengyi never dared to provoke him again in their school life.
But just before graduation, Wei Zhenge, who didn’t have his own computer, used a school computer to fill out his college application. However, Fu Pengyi, who had secretly seen him type in his password, discretely changed his college choice.
This is the first eighteen years of Wei Zhenge’s life, which seemed to be even more pitiful and suffocating compared to the later half of his life, when he attained a golden finger and started to overpower others step by step.
The plot Jian Yuanbai received was merely a piece of text. But now, he was beginning to feel that all these bad things had really happened to Wei Zhenge.
Why would one cry while they’re unconscious? What kind of dreams was he having?
Looking at him, Jian Yuanbai felt as though he was looking at a little animal that was soaking wet from a heavy rainstorm, looking lost and helpless, invoking in him a desire to hold an umbrella over it and shield it from the lashing rain.
He wanted to hold an umbrella for him.
This feeling left him feeling helpless. He incessantly spoke to Wei Zhenge, who was still unconscious, “Hey, hey, hey, don’t cry.”
“Why did you start crying all of a sudden? Do you want me to drag the three from outside and give them another beating in front of you?”
“Is the infusion causing too much pain? If so, let them also get an IV drip, sick or not, a glucose drip won’t be a problem.”
His words naturally did not receive any reply. Avoiding Wei Zhenge’s IV-infused hand, Jian Yuanbai went to the other side and carefully cradled him in his arms, and wiped the tears from the corner of Wei Zhenge’s eyes, repeating over and over again, “Don’t cry. don’t cry.”
As he said this, he gently patted the blanket covering Wei Zhenge.
After watching for some time, the System couldn’t help asking, “What are you doing?”
Jian Yuanbai responded, “Can’t you see? I’m pacifying a child.”
“In the soap operas, all mothers soothe their children like this. What do you think, isn’t my imitation on point?”
Would he begin to play the mother after he was done playing the father? The System thought desolately. It shouldn’t have been asked. It should have been anticipated that Jian Yuanbai’s thought process wouldn’t give any serious answer.
Their conversation was interrupted by a cough. Wei Zhenge’s brain was still foggy from sleep, but he could hear a youthful male voice ringing with bravado, “You’re awake. How do you feel?”
“Don’t be afraid; Daddy’s here.”
Feeling a rhythmic pat on his stomach and accompanied by hearing the voice next to his ear, Wei Zhenge’s brain pounded with ache. Unable to take it anymore, he growled hoarsely, “Shut up!”
Translator Footnotes:
符爺爺 (fu ye ye): It literally translates as “Grandfather Fu,” but in this context, it’s used as a title of respect to acknowledge the elder or senior status of Fu Pengyi.
大發慈悲 (da fa ci bei): It translates to “greatly merciful,” often used when someone shows mercy or leniency towards others, but can sometimes be used sarcastically to imply the person is only pretending to be merciful.
爹 (die): This is a more informal, colloquial variant of “father” in Chinese, similar to “dad” or “daddy” in English. The phrase “你想當衛承業的爹” sarcastically means “Do you want to be Wei Chengye’s dad?”.
道理 (dao li): Literally translated as “reason” or “principle.” In this context, it refers to life lessons or rules to live by.
老老實實 (lao lao shi shi): Literally, it means “honestly” or “being honest.” In context, it adds emphasis to the requirement of respectful address.
龍頭 (long tou): It means ‘tap’ or ‘faucet’, which literally translates as ‘dragon head’.
弄死你 (nong si ni): It literally means ‘beat you to death’. It’s a hyperbolic threat in this context.
醫院 (yi yuan): The term ‘hospital’ is used metaphorically here. It’s a way for Jian Yuanbai to assert his control over the situation and Fu Pengyi.
忍無可忍 (rěn wú kě rěn): A common Chinese proverb meaning ‘tolerate no longer’, adopted here for its dramatic essence.
