Everyone fell into a coma five minutes ago at the same time?

Xia Chenxi felt a jolt in his heart—wasn’t that too much of a coincidence?

Because five minutes ago was exactly when he had mysteriously woken up from his dream.

This startling coincidence made Xia Chenxi suspect that the bizarre occurrences were once again caused by the monster. He couldn’t help but recall the dream he had just experienced.

Xia Chenxi’s expression turned a little grim.

Most likely, these survivors—just like him—had been hunted by the monster in their dreams.

Seeing that Xia Chenxi remained silent, the doctor, who was preparing to perform an initial examination on the patient, spoke, “We’ll be taking these patients for more advanced tests soon to determine the cause of their comas. I hope you’ll agree to undergo a checkup as well.”

That, in fact, was the doctor’s real reason for coming.

Xia Chenxi came back to his senses and nodded to indicate that he would cooperate and go for the examination.

Before leaving, the doctor said to him, “We’re going to check on other patients first. You can come find us on the second floor in a bit.”

Although these doctors didn’t know about the bizarre happenings on the fourth floor, they were aware that these patients had experienced something terrifying, which was why their emotions were on the verge of collapse.

After the doctors and nurses left, one of the police officers quickly closed the door.

It seemed that the upcoming conversation wasn’t something any ordinary person should overhear.

Then, an older police officer sat down, introduced himself first, and then got down to business: “About five minutes ago, did you feel anything unusual with your body or anything else?”

All the survivors mysteriously fell unconscious at the same time, so why was Xia Chenxi the only exception?

Xia Chenxi was silent for a few seconds, then after careful thought, decided to tell the police about what he had just experienced in his dream.

Even if these people didn’t quite believe him, at least they would pass the information up to their superiors.

Then, Xia Chenxi began to recount the experience from his dream.

He recalled the scene he saw in the dream and said, “In the dream, there was a very eerie and dark corridor, with blood settled everywhere, as if a massacre had taken place.”

Even now, just thinking about that scene still felt inexplicably oppressive.

“All the doors to the rooms along the corridor were tightly shut, except for one room whose door was open. A monster’s face peeked out from inside, quietly staring at me for several seconds.”

Xia Chenxi’s voice was very calm, but everyone present felt increasingly chilled to the bone, even getting goosebumps.

Even the bravest police officer couldn’t help but be affected by the terrifying atmosphere of this nightmare. He cleared his throat and asked, “And then?”

Xia Chenxi looked up, paused for a few seconds, and then said, “Then it suddenly ran out of the room and started chasing me. No matter how fast I ran, I couldn’t leave that corridor. In the end, I had to run into that room and found a weapon.”

As Xia Chenxi described the details, the police officers’ expressions grew increasingly serious, and unexpectedly, a flicker of doubt began to form in their minds.

Could it be that those who had fallen unconscious were really trapped in a terrifying nightmare, being hunted just like Xia Chenxi?

Because the details Xia Chenxi described about the dream were incredibly vivid, and most importantly, there was no hesitation in his storytelling.

He remembered every detail of the entire dream clearly.

Ordinary people usually forgot most of the details by the time they woke up from a dream.

Soon, Xia Chenxi finished telling his story.

All the police fell into silence; no one spoke.

Until one officer finally broke the silence with difficulty and said, “So you’re saying that the reason those people fell into unconsciousness is because they were being chased by a monster in their dreams?”

Xia Chenxi nodded seriously and said, “Yes, and the most important thing is, five minutes ago was exactly when I woke up from the dream.”

“Although it sounds absurd…” the youngest police officer murmured, “when you think about it carefully, it actually makes a lot of sense.”

Plus, the fact that all the victims fell unconscious at the same time seemed to be perfectly explained only by Xia Chenxi’s explanation.

The police officers all showed different expressions, but in the end, they decided to report this matter to their superiors and let them make the final decision.

Soon, they left the hospital room. The officer assigned to protect Xia Chenxi didn’t leave but stayed behind to ask him:

“Do you want to go for the examination on the second floor now, or would you prefer to rest for a while first?”

Xia Chenxi took out his phone and glanced at the time.

8:38.

He thought to himself: the little one might be waking up soon, and the mall would refresh its goods at nine o’clock, so he had to hurry and buy them.

Over at the hospital, it would probably take at least an hour to finish checking all the patients.

After calculating the time, Xia Chenxi finally looked up and asked the guard on duty, “Can you wait for me for half an hour?”

The guard didn’t ask what Xia Chenxi was going to do and nodded promptly, saying, “Alright, I’ll wait for you at the door. Just let me know when you’re done.”

The hospital room soon had only Xia Chenxi left. He quickly opened the game that was running in the background.

The screen still showed the familiar room.

And the little figure was still sleeping, showing no signs of waking up.

Just as Xia Chenxi had let out a sigh of relief, a prompt suddenly popped up on the game screen: [It’s about to wake up.]

The moment the text disappeared,

Xia Chenxi noticed that the little figure in the game seemed to move.

It was about to open its eyes.

Without thinking, Xia Chenxi quickly took the scrambled eggs with tomatoes and rice from the virtual kitchen and placed them on the table.

It looked very rich and delicious.

Xia Chenxi nodded with satisfaction but then felt like something was missing on the table.

Ah, right, he had forgotten to put the chopsticks.

Realizing this, Xia Chenxi hurriedly tapped the screen and finally placed the chopsticks next to the bowl of rice before the little figure opened its eyes.

The little figure opened its eyes, long eyelashes drooping. It seemed not fully awake yet, showing a rare dazed expression.

Suddenly,

a familiar aroma faintly wafted around, instantly snapping the little figure’s groggy mind back to clarity. Its expression changed slightly as it quickly sat up straight, eyes fixed directly on the table nearby.

There were dishes that looked incredibly delicious, along with the rice it loved to eat.

The mysterious person had actually brought the food over in the morning.

Even though the little figure knew the other party had bad intentions, it couldn’t help but feel a bit of joy at being able to eat a delicious meal in the morning.

Of course, it was only a little bit of joy.

The little figure forced itself to calm down and first cautiously surveyed its surroundings.

Everywhere was quiet.

The door was tightly closed.

There was no sign inside the room that a stranger had been there.

It seemed the other party wasn’t in the room.

The little figure wore a serious expression, swung its legs off the bed, and walked to the table to inspect the rice and dishes, reaching out to feel the warmth.

The door was tightly closed.

There was no sign inside the room that a stranger had been there.

It seemed the other party wasn’t in the room.

The little figure wore a serious expression, swung its legs off the bed, and walked to the table to inspect the rice and dishes, reaching out to feel the warmth.

—It looked like it had just come out of the pot a few minutes ago.

As expected.

Its gaze darkened slightly as it became even more certain of its suspicion.

That mysterious person had snuck into the room just a few minutes ago, but throughout the entire process, it still hadn’t sensed a thing.

The little one grew increasingly wary and apprehensive of that mysterious person’s abilities, but maintained a calm expression. It sat down, picked up its chopsticks, and began to eat slowly and carefully, showing no attempt to hide its love for the delicious dishes.

Xia Chenxi watched the little one bury its head in the food, and a strange wave of fatherly pride surged in his heart.

Moreover, the little one was being well-behaved today, showing no hostility toward the mysteriously appearing food.

It seemed their relationship had taken another step forward.

While it was enjoying the delicious food given by the mysterious man, it was thinking of a way to torture the mysterious man.

Perhaps he could use a knife to slowly cut off all his flesh, and then dye this crazy world red with blood, creating the most decadent and bizarre painting.

That would be beautiful.

There was madness hidden in its eyes as it laughed neurotically.

Xia Chenxi blinked and couldn’t help but zoom in on the image. As he thought, what he had just seen wasn’t an illusion.

The little one had actually smiled while eating—and it was such an adorably soft and sweet smile.

He just didn’t know what it was thinking.

Xia Chenxi watched the little one eat with great interest, thoroughly enjoying the sight. It wasn’t until nearly nine o’clock that he reluctantly tapped into the marketplace.

The “Food” section of the mall was refreshed with new items again.

There were the familiar eggs and tomatoes, as well as the ever-present half a pound of rice. In addition to those, there were now three glass bottles of milk.

As usual, Xia Chenxi bought the eggs, tomatoes, and the three bottles of milk, spending a total of 3 Love Points.

His Love Points dropped back to zero.

Xia Chenxi couldn’t help but instinctively feel a pang of heartache again and silently told himself to get used to the feeling of being poor.

He closed the mall, and just at that moment, the little character finished its last bite of food. It picked up the empty plate and bowl and headed to the kitchen.

Right after that, a text box popped up in the game:

[Congratulations, Player! You’ve completed today’s side quest — “Basic Necessities: Food,” Stage 3. You are rewarded with +3 Love Points. It’s another day of wholeheartedly caring for your character’s physical and mental well-being.]

Xia Chenxi excitedly waved his arms in the air a few times.

He had Love Points in hand again.

Now, he just had to wait until the evening to see if there would be more Love Points rewarded after the little character finished dinner.

The little character placed the washed dishes and utensils on the table, then calmly took some clothes and headed to the bathroom. After changing, it left the small house again.

But before leaving, it placed a strand of hair in the door crack again.

The empty room was utterly silent.

Although Xia Chenxi was a bit disappointed that the little character didn’t try to talk to him like it had the day before, as long as it was willing to eat the food he provided, that was enough.

He then exited the game, got out of bed, and slowly walked out of the hospital room. The on-duty officer sitting on the chair stood up when he saw this, walked over, and supported Xia Chenxi. “Come on, I’ll help you over there.”

Xia Chenxi softly thanked him.

The hospital lobby was bustling with people. A long line had already formed at the registration area, and the surrounding noise gave Xia Chenxi a surreal feeling, as if he were truly alive in the world again.

On the second floor, a doctor was examining the third unconscious patient. The other doctors told Xia Chenxi to wait for a while.

Several hospital beds were lined up in the corridor, with a few patients lying there, their faces pale and motionless, their breathing so faint it was almost inaudible.

It even gave Xia Chenxi an inexplicable feeling that these people might stop breathing at any moment.

He studied them carefully, and after several seconds, he matched their faces with certain residents from his memory.

Xia Chenxi frowned slightly.

It had only been a few days, yet their complexions had deteriorated so much—so emaciated that it was somewhat frightening.

One of the doctors walked over and explained to Xia Chenxi, the only one still conscious: “When they were brought in, none of them were in a good mental state. They weren’t eating regularly.”

The doctor paused for a moment before continuing, “What I didn’t expect was that today, they all fell into a coma at the exact same time.”

Xia Chenxi thought for a moment, then asked, “Did they only react strongly when they heard certain sounds, or did this happen even at other times?”

The doctor replied, “A few days ago, they had intense reactions when they heard noises. But over the past few days, they started showing signs of unexplained fear and anxiety, even without any external triggers.”

“I suspect they may be suffering from severe post-traumatic stress, which ultimately led to their comas—because their subconscious minds instinctively want to reject what they perceive as terrifying,” the doctor said.

Another doctor, who happened to overhear their conversation, added, “But it still doesn’t explain why they all fell into a coma at the exact same time.”

“Exactly. Hopefully, this round of examinations will uncover the cause.”

Both doctors let out a sigh one after the other.

Xia Chenxi remained silent as his mind began to churn with thoughts.

If these people only recently started showing signs of inexplicable fear and anxiety, could it be that, like him, they were pulled into the dream by the monster?

But if they really had been pulled in before, why were they fine until now—and why did they never wake up this time?

Thinking about how terrifying that monster was, Xia Chenxi felt uneasy and restless.

In the dream, the monster was nearly invincible—nothing could really harm it.

The only reason Xia Chenxi had managed to almost hold his own against the monster before was because of the buff granted by his title, [Unlimited Strength].

Xia Chenxi wasn’t sure if, when he slept tonight, he would enter the dream again.

The most important thing was that the title could only be used once every three days.

And he had already used it once in the dream before—he didn’t know if he could activate the title’s ability again inside the dream.

Xia Chenxi felt uneasy and decided to try activating the [Unlimited Strength] title effect in his mind, just like he did in the dream.

He wanted to see if any prompt would appear.

After about two seconds, a line of text appeared in his mind:

[Dear player, you have already used this title once in the dream. There are still three days left before it can be used again.]

So, it really wouldn’t work.

Xia Chenxi opened his eyes, unable to hide his disappointment.

Just then, his phone suddenly rang.

Snapping back to reality, Xia Chenxi glanced at his phone and saw a message from Professor Tian.

He quickly opened it.

[Professor Tian: A few days ago, and again this morning at 8:30, that severed arm emitted a strange black fog, but it disappeared quickly each time.]

After scanning the message, Xia Chenxi’s eyelids twitched sharply as he suddenly realized something.
