I Fed The Affectionate And Paranoid God - Chapter 2
Xia Chenxi didn’t care about the game and quickly ran to the door to use the peephole to observe the corridor.
He lived in an apartment building and could see a distance of about four to five meters on both sides, with automatic induction lights slightly illuminating both sides.
Suddenly, Xia Chenxi’s pupils dilated.
Not far away, there was a faint pool of red blood on the floor, as well as scattered fragments of a corpse, with their limbs and head, all over the place.
And in the corridor, there was a young man who looked at the dismembered body with a face full of fear, trembling all over and murmuring, “Dead, dead!”
The scream just now seemed to have come from him.
Other residents opened their doors to the sound of noise and screamed in horror at the sight of the pieces; some fell on the floor in direct fear, and others cried in direct fear.
Every face was filled with fear and unease.
In the middle of the black fog invasion, their apartment complex was filled with people who died, and their deaths were extremely tragic.
The murderer was extremely cruel and terrible.
“We have to call the police!”
“The person who did this is horrible.”
“Oh my goodness.”
“Call the police; hurry up and call the police!”
“Does anyone know the victim?”
“I don’t know.”
“I don’t know them either.”
At this point, someone first reacted and hurriedly pulled out their phone to call the police. Then, looking awkward, he said to everyone, “There’s no signal; their line can’t be reached at all.”
Everyone’s attention was immediately focused. A young man with messy hair couldn’t believe it. “It’s impossible; I was just online; how could there be no signal?”
After the young man finished speaking, he immediately went back home to get his phone and call the police. About a minute later, he walked out with an ugly expression: “There’s really no signal. You all need to check if your phones have any signal.”
Others were startled and pulled out their phones, but everyone was the same. The phones had no signal, and even the WiFi couldn’t be connected.
Anxiety and fear escalated in this moment.
This also meant that unless they left the apartment, they would have to face the unknown killer hiding in the building.
What was even more terrifying was that perhaps the murderer stood in the crowd, disguised as an equally anxious and frightened innocent person.
The more residents in the community thought, the more afraid they became.
Listening to the words of these people outside the door, Xia Chenxi also took out his phone and glanced at it. His phone, without exception, lost its signal.
He pursed his lips with a solemn expression.
Was it a coincidence?
Inside, everyone was instinctively resistant to the dark fog outside, but they were more afraid of the murderer hiding in the building.
They were afraid that this killer would launch an attack on the next person.
In the extreme panic, a person trembled and said, “What should we do? We can’t just wait like this, can we? We don’t even know when this fog will disappear. What if the killer wants to kill again?”
“What if the killer only retaliated? We haven’t caused any trouble so why would he kill us?”
“But it’s too coincidental. It’s all black and foggy outside. Even if the internet is fine, the police don’t necessarily have time to come and investigate.”
Perhaps it was because of this that the killer launched a revenge killing at this time of crisis.
A young man had already recovered and suggested, “Why don’t we gather everyone in the apartments? With so many people, we can defeat one killer, can’t we?”
This statement was supported by some people.
But there were also some timid people who didn’t want to be with strangers, even if they all lived together in one neighborhood.
A boy said weakly, “I won’t stay with you. I can lock the door behind me. The killer won’t be able to enter unless he chops it down with an ax.”
The apartment’s doors were iron, and it was hard to kick them open violently.
Everyone else had different expressions and didn’t speak, obviously thinking the same way. It was better to stay in the room and lock the door than to be with a group of unfamiliar people. Maybe the murderer would be hidden inside.
The youth who had previously proposed gathering everyone together no longer spoke but looked back and forth to find some clues.
There was no trace of blood around, as if the killer had completed the murder process directly in the hallway. But why didn’t the victim call for help or even struggle to resist? His room was nearby, yet he didn’t even hear any movement.
He felt strange.
At that point, several more apartment doors opened, clearly not intending to hide in the room and watch the situation unfold. When they walked out, they looked at the dismembered body with frightened expressions.
Xia Chenxi hesitated for a few seconds and then walked out too. His appearance didn’t attract anyone’s attention.
Only a few people instinctively raised their heads, glanced at Xia Chenxi’s somewhat overly beautiful face, and then withdrew their gaze.
Xia Chenxi walked over, enduring nausea and fear, carefully observing the wounds of the dismembered body, and the more he looked, the more he felt something was wrong.
The wounds looked very fresh, and it seemed to have been cut off for less than an hour because the blood hadn’t yet solidified.
He suppressed his fear and touched the skin of the corpse with a hint of warmth, which further confirmed his earlier speculation.
Xia Chenxi’s apartment could be considered the closest to the body, but strangely, he didn’t hear the cries for help or the struggling movements of the victim from beginning to end.
It was like they died inexplicitly.
There were no bloodstains around the body, indicating that the first murder scene was here. Most importantly, there were strange marks on the limbs, it seemed to have been ripped out by a steel rope. Xia Chenxi was shocked.
How terrifying was the power of this killer to use ropes or wires to dismember a human being?
Xia Chenxi’s gaze fell on the young man, who was the first to discover the dismembered body. He was still sitting on the ground in fear. He walked over to ask, “Are you okay?”
The man looked up in shock, as if he had finally recovered. He trembled and opened his mouth several times before finally regaining his voice: “I… I’m okay.”
“Did you see the murderer?” Suddenly, a slightly chubby young man beside him spoke up.
The other asked too quickly and suddenly, and Xia Chenxi had no time to stop him. At this moment, everyone immediately quieted down and looked at the person, who was still full of fear, with different expressions.
The man shuddered a few times, shook his head desperately, and subconsciously raised his voice: “I didn’t see it, I swear.”
His reaction was somewhat exaggerated.
Everyone couldn’t help but suspect.
The man in the flower shirt standing next to him spoke, “If you saw him, quickly identify the culprit. Can’t all of us fight one person? It’s a good time to catch him.”
The young man sitting on the ground said anxiously and incoherently, “I really didn’t see anything! I swear, if I lied, let me be hit by lightning.”
The chubby young man who first asked if he had seen the murderer reminded him, “Are you afraid of being silenced by the murderer? You can’t refuse to talk now. The murderer will definitely come to you.”
The person looked at the chubby young man, his eyes turning red with anger. “I really didn’t see it. When I came out of the house, I saw the corpse in this area. I swear, if I’m lying, let me be struck by lightning.”
It didn’t seem like he was lying. Everyone let go of their doubts. They really wanted to go back to their houses.
They held on to the only hope in their hearts. What if the killer had only retaliated? They had to wait for the black fog to disappear before they spoke.
No one wanted to wade in this muddy water.
In addition, the blood of scattered limbs in this area seemed to be spreading, and the young couple didn’t want to stay any longer. One hurriedly said, “Let’s leave quickly. Nobody should move anything to avoid damaging the scene.”
Another person said, “Everyone, remember to lock your doors. It’s best to move some furniture against the door.”
The girls living alone were somewhat hesitant, but they didn’t want to be with other strangers either. They hurriedly went back to their houses to lock the door and move the sofa over to block it.
There were people like Xia Chenxi who noticed that the traces of the body were not quite right. They looked around and finally sighed before returning to their houses.
There were no cameras installed in this corridor. Unless the police came over, no one knew who the culprit was. It was better to hide in the house and wait for the black fog to dissipate before they talked.
Xia Chenxi also thought so.
He returned to the house, immediately locked the door, and found the fitness equipment placed in the room. This thing wasn’t only heavy but also sturdy; it could be used to counterattack in case of an accident.
Even after sitting down, he still pondered the traces on the dismembered bodies.
Perhaps due to the emergence of this game and the thick black fog outside, Xia Chenxi instinctively became wary and uneasy about everything.
Most importantly, he had clearly heard not only screams but also the clattering sound of chains on the floor before.
But why did it disappear in an instant?
Most importantly, was the sound of that chain related to the killer?
Xia Chenxi took out his phone again, but there was still no signal on it. He tried to open the mobile game, which was called Love Nurturing.
It didn’t show that the game couldn’t be played normally due to a lack of network. On the contrary, after Xia Chenxi went online, a prompt popped up again, asking if Xia Chenxi accepted the task.
“Black Fog Invasion.” Xia Chenxi murmured, looking down at the little man sitting in bed. He seemed to have changed his posture, but he was still sitting quietly with his head down, watching the blood from his wound spread and drip down on the floor.
It soon coalesced into a dark trail on the floor.
This game was extremely realistic, and every few seconds, Xia Chenxi noticed the small person’s slightly undulating chest.
This time, Xia Chenxi still didn’t choose to accept the task or exit the game, but stayed and stared at the screen.
After about a few minutes, Xia Chenxi got up and went to get a bottle of water. He walked up to the computer and started playing a single-player game to pass the time.
About an hour later, a strange sound suddenly came from the corridor, approaching from afar. Xia Chenxi’s hand on the keyboard paused slightly and he listened attentively.
Wooooo…
Woooo…
Like the sound of chains on the floor.
Xia Chenxi quickly got up and quietly walked to the door, looking out through the peephole.
A light suddenly lit up in the distance of the pitch-black corridor, accompanied by the sound of chains getting closer and closer, and the light in front lit up again.
Until a figure about two meters tall appeared, walking slowly forward with its back facing the light.
Due to it being against the light, Xia Chenxi couldn’t quite see the specific appearance of this person.
It was probably too tall, so it squatted slightly, with legs spread out like a spider. The chains wrapped around its arms occasionally made a clattering sound.
When it moved forward, it looked like a spider, extremely fast and agile.
The strangest thing was that its arms were almost as long as its knees, and its legs were thin, as if it were walking on stilts. Everything about the person was filled with unspeakable oddities.
