Chapter 59: Chatting in the Guild Room
◆ Demon Temple – Guild Room [Lobby] ◆
“No way! With no prior information, that thing will definitely kill you. It’s horrible!”
“Right? It’s really terrible!”
When we returned to the guild, Napping’s Team had just come back from the Ocean Abyss Dungeon. By the way, as soon as it hit midnight, Rena-chan logged out, saying, ‘After all, I can’t go when it gets closer to my usual sleeping time. Goodnight, see you later’, and went straight to bed. Sleeping at the usual time, as usual, is important…! Let’s pray that we don’t remember Cook-san’s appearance when going to bed…
So, what’s horrible is the story of the Slaughter Taily Whaley’s first-time Crimson Blaster! It’s really awful. When we’re looking up and thinking ‘Whoa~~ that’s huge~~’, it suddenly fires an instant-death, ultra-thick beam as if to say, ‘Welcome~ Die!’ It’s really hard to deal with the first time. You need to spread out and move away from the beam’s impact point, or use barrier skills to avoid it—how would you know that?
“So, how did you avoid it!?”
“Napping’s Golden Barrier Shield only takes 1 damage for 3 seconds and is completely immune to status effects while active. We activated it twice in a row to withstand 5 seconds, then I used the spatula home run to send Rage flying onto the Slaughter Taily Whaley, and we broke it up.”
“Don’t just sum up my great efforts with ‘broke it up’, you Baldy!!!”
Wow, Napping’s Team is amazing, pushing through with brute force…! Knowing the attack information beforehand makes that possible, but the first time, we really messed up… We’ll have to go whale hunting again around tomorrow. Big sis, Laura-chan, Oniichan, and Chiyo-san still need leveling up too. Let’s check everyone’s levels now.
Don-chan is level 47… Oh! The cap is 50, so evolution might be near! Lia-chan is level 37, with a cap of 75, so she’s still got a long way to go. Oniichan is level 18, with a cap of 25, so he’s close to evolving too… Chiyo-chan is level 10, and it says her temporary cap is 75…? It seems she has no real cap. Big sis is level 5, with a cap of 50, and Laura-chan is level 1, with no cap. I wonder how far she can go!
Oh, by the way, I’m level 81. Since there’s no difference even if I level up more, I’m fine as I am.
“Rage is amazing~ Such a damage monster~~”
“Even with Eris-chan’s buffs, being able to do over 100k is incredible, right~”
“Wow, surpassing 100k is amazing.”
“Isn’t it?! I dealt a total of 1.5 million damage! And this baldy just sums it up with ‘broke it up’!!”
“Oh!”
Yikes… When did Rage become such a damage powerhouse…? How on earth do you deal a whopping 1.5 million in total damage…?
“Yeah, we’ve all awakened and our job titles have upgraded! I’m a Yaksha now!”
“I was always a Cooking Demon, so nothing changed for me.”
“Eris-chan was originally a Shadow Dancer, and now she’s a Nightmare.”
“I went from a Destroyer to the Daughter of Hades, Hydra. Now I can also handle corrosive acid!”
Oh, they’ve all upgraded their classes… Napping’s Team’s super poison didn’t work on machines before, but now that they can handle acid, it seems they can counter machines too!
Rage is a Yaksha now, huh… Is he getting closer to Chiyo-chan’s class? Eris-san, if you look closely, seems to have a shadow clone, similar to Don-chan’s doppelganger! I see, everyone has become even stronger with their advanced classes… Since everyone has shared their classes, I shouldn’t keep mine a secret from the guild members anymore. They probably have an inkling by now anyway! Should I just tell them?
“By the way, I’m a Necromancer.”
“Huh? What?!”
“I thought you were some kind of Tamer, but I see…”
“Wait, a Necromancer? Isn’t that the type that controls corpses?”
“Now, I feel like everything makes sense…”
“Don-chan, Lia-chan, Chiyo-chan, this fully-armored knight, Captain Tornado, and Lorelei-chan, they were all originally corpses.”
“No way… That cute Don-chan was… originally a corpse…!?”
“Well, they’re still cute now, aren’t they? Though, for undead, they’re all pretty free-spirited… except for the knight over there.”
“(´ω`)”
“Oh, by the way, Frioniel-san is hollow inside.”
“/(^o^)\”
“His head came off!?”
“No way… whoa…”
“This is incredible. That’s so cool.”
“Whoa~~~… You really are a Necromancer…!?”
Ah, what is this? The guilty feeling of keeping secrets has just… disappeared. Well, if I had revealed it all before getting this strong, it would have caused a lot of trouble. Now, we’re strong enough that it doesn’t matter if people find out. I’m basically a full party by myself, isn’t that amazing…!
And Oniichan is having a great time just from the head coming off. Good for him!?
“Was Don-chan always such a big corpse?”
“That’s the first undead I made a follower near Tarlash. It was a larger-than-average wolf, and a rare breed.”
“Ohhh, the Wandering Wolf! That’s the area boss near Tarlash!”
“What… That thing was an area boss…?”
“Ahhh, now I get it! I think I know where his ears came from! They must have come from a rare Wandering Wolf!”
“Yes, that’s right…!”
“Wow, now I want to go hunting every chance I get… but if someone sees me, they’ll figure out there’s something special about the Wandering Wolf… What should I do… I better not.”
“When that evolves, it turns into Don-chan!”
“How many times does it have to evolve to get that big…?”
“And, what about the others?! Now that we’re here, I want to know about everyone!”
Wow, it’s the first time I’ve seen Baldy-san so excited. He’s usually the stoic, arms-crossed, confidently smiling macho man, so this reaction is kind of refreshing…! The reason I decided to come clean is because I wanted to talk about Lia-chan. Sooner or later, it would have come out, so I thought it’d be best to do it while everyone is gathered here.
“Do you know about the side quest ‘Mysterious White Skeleton’ in the Southern Forest of Tarlash?”
“Oh, the one with no clues, making it really confusing.”
“I heard it stopped appearing a few days ago. It disappeared from my quest log too.”
“Wait! Did you revive that skeleton?”
“Then, in terms of timing, the one who was with Don-chan back then must have been Lia-chan!”
“That’s right. Lia-chan started as a skeleton… When I evolved her to add flesh, she became a zombie, but because I used dragon meat, she ended up breathing fire and burning her throat. So, I evolved her again, and that’s the Lia-chan who came to the guild house at that time!”
“Wowww… If she had come to the guild house as a skeleton, everyone would have instantly known you were a Necromancer.”
“And there were Inquisitors roaming nearby… You’d have been killed for sure.”
“There are lots of people who absolutely can’t stand necromancers.”
“So, did reviving Lia-chan progress the quest? What happened next?”
“That’s actually the main reason I’m coming clean…”
“Tell us!” (in unison)
Wow… everyone is really interested…! Napping’s Team and Eris-san have even moved from the Slaughterer Plushies to the table seats…!? They’re incredibly curious!?
“Lia-chan was actually a princess of the Stellavelce Kingdom.”
“…What?!”
“No way.”
“All this time, we’ve been absorbing… a princess…?! A loli princess, and a witch…?! That’s an overload of nutrients!”
“Eris, quiet down for a bit.”
“Mmmph—”
“S-so, what happened next?”
Oh, Eris-san got her mouth covered by Napping-san… Yeah, at this rate, she’d probably go off on a tangent and derail everything.
“First, Stellavelce is a desert country. Its founder was Queen Echidna, who’s actually the one down in the lower floors.”
“Oh, yeah, her…”
“She’s really here…”
“So that’s actually her.”
“Echidna’s magical powers were inherited by her youngest daughter, and Lia-chan is a descendant of that daughter.”
“I see. That explains her incredible magic.”
“Makes sense…”
“Wow…”
So far, everyone’s just like, ‘Oh, I see’, but I bet once they hear the rest, they’ll get really angry…
“Lia-chan lost her mother when she was young, and her siblings resented her, so she had no place in the palace. She ended up finding a hidden chamber in the palace basement, which was like a mausoleum only certain people could enter. There, she met Echidna’s spirit, who took a liking to her, doted on her, and taught her magic as a means of self-defense.”
“Such a sweet girl, and her siblings resented her? Are those people even human?”
“Well, she did have a claim to the throne. It’s not surprising they saw her as a threat… but still…”
“Oh, I have a feeling this is going to be a really unpleasant story.”
At this point, everyone already hates her siblings. If I continue with the story, they’re probably going to get really angry… no, they’re definitely going to be furious…
“One day, after several years of this life, while Lia-chan was talking with Echidna in the sealed chamber as usual, someone else entered the chamber. It was her eldest brother, Kashpa. Somehow, he had obtained part of the power of a giant snake that had caused immense damage to Stellavelce in the past. He wanted to gain Echidna’s power as well, so he took a book for a resurrection ritual and equipment to further enhance the snake’s power from the chamber.”
“Oh, this is really starting to sound bad.”
“Lia-chan had already received the royal family’s necklace from Echidna… oh, here it is.”
“What!? Rinne-chan is wearing it!?”
“I thought it was just a big gemstone necklace…”
“So, with that necklace around Rinne-chan’s neck, it means Kashpa still hasn’t obtained Echidna’s power…”
“~~~~~~!!”
Eris-san seems like she wants to say something, but since it’s probably another inappropriate comment about Lia-chan, let’s leave her with Napping-san covering her mouth…
“But Kashpa was an idiot and couldn’t read the ritual book. So, he entrusted its deciphering to his younger brother, Detilich. Detilich, realizing that if he stole Lia-chan’s necklace he could obtain the power first, tried to attack Lia-chan but was easily defeated. However, Kashpa and their two sisters saw this and accused Lia-chan of fratricide. Fleeing with a few loyal guards, she couldn’t shake off Kashpa, who had the snake’s power, and was poisoned in the forest. Before dying, Lia-chan buried the royal necklace, using a flashy bracelet she had bought as a decoy. Kashpa took the bracelet back to the desert, believing it was the necklace, and thus he still doesn’t have the full power. If we want to kill him, now’s the time.”
“That quest had such an elaborate story…?”
“Normally, you’d dig up the royal necklace, and that would continue the story.”
“It turned into a route to revive the person, didn’t it?”
“But if the ritual book is left, someone will decipher it and discover the existence of the necklace. Why did you take the bracelet?”
“Oh, this.”
“””There’s that too…”””
Somehow, don’t I feel like I’m in a cooking show saying, ‘Here is the finished product~’? I feel like I’m taking out important items one after another…
“It seems that when Lia-chan killed her brother, it was cut up into pieces. Only part of it could be restored. I just sneaked into the royal palace and stole this.”
“You’ve got quite the sticky fingers, huh!?”
“We knew you arrived at the Stellavelce capital because you could use the portal, but you even got inside the royal palace. What was the state inside?”
“First of all, in the Stellavelce capital, all the resident NPCs have had their lives taken by Kashpa and turned into the undead. In the royal palace, his immediate subordinates and some merchants are alive and living luxurious lives. Also, Lia-chan’s two older sisters and Kashpa are in the royal palace. Kashpa is currently exploring ways to gain power through a ritual, and he has undead residents digging the great hole where the giant serpent appeared, thinking the source of power is there. Lia-chan plans to set the royal palace ablaze tomorrow, so I thought I’d go destroy it in the afternoon.”
“I’m going too! It will definitely be fun!”
“Is it okay to kill the two older sisters?”
“It seems it is. But if possible, I’d like to ask you not to kill the resident NPCs.”
“Got it~. We want to give the residents a proper send-off.”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“I’ll go too. Hunting is always fun. I’ll skip helping Mr. Cook in the afternoon.”
“Woah!! Eris-chan is going too!”
“I’ll go too~. So tomorrow’s plan is to go to the sea cave dungeon in the morning, relax a bit, and then have the Stellavelce extermination battle!”
Tomorrow seems like it’ll be another fulfilling day~… Oh, speaking of which, do you guys know about the abandoned church’s secret dungeon? Let me tell you about it.
“So, there’s this secret dungeon in the abandoned church…”
“””Huh??”””
“Um, it’s a bit of a spoiler, but is that okay…?”
“””Just spill it.”””
“Y-yes…”
Wow, what pressure…! It’s like they’ll kill me if I don’t tell them…! Dungeon information is meant to be shared, right…!!
“If you defeat Dogel on the first floor, you can discard the sealed church’s clear reward and go to the ‘Forbidden Sanctuary’ in the secret dungeon.”
“There was a secret dungeon there…? Since Dogel hadn’t escaped yet, you can ignore the angels and zombie guns, huh?”
“At your current level, you can easily ignore them.”
“Definitely~! Just buff up from the start and blast through!”
“So, what’s in the Forbidden Sanctuary!? I want to know!”
“The enemies in the Forbidden Sanctuary are all mechanical monsters that are a fusion of humans, machines, and angels. There’s a time limit of 20 minutes, and initially, there were two… with guns. Once you pass them, it’s two gun-wielders plus four with swords and hammers. Finally, there are five gun-wielders and one special mutant with four arms, attacking relentlessly.”
“We might be able to push through somehow…?”
“There might be some rushed decisions due to the time limit.”
“By the way, the levels were quite high, at least level 75. At the end, they were over level 100.”
“Wow~… Oh, they were even higher than the max level, huh.”
“Indeed~. But because they’re mechanical, their HP is high~.”
By the way, in the conversation earlier, it seems like they defeated the maximum assailants too! The reward was four rainbow orbs, all of them being Boss Card Binders! And when they all opened theirs together, they got stuff like Goblin Leader, Orc Leader, Goblin King… All of them were just boss cards with increased HP, apparently, feeling like total duds.
By the way, it seems like only Napping-san pulled a card, called “Rampaging Mammoth Emperor”. The effect is surprisingly impressive, with “Constant Hyper Armor”, “Skill, Emperor’s Rampage available”, and “Immunity to immobilization-type status abnormalities”. They pulled off this god-tier card with the ability to ‘never stop.’ Isn’t their luck just insane? It’s amazing, but seriously…
“The final boss consisted of two entities: Dogel turned into a cyborg and his lover, who was mechanized and resurrected. Dogel’s lover had this wicked skill called ‘Gun Hazard’, unleashing rapid-fire skill with an incredibly short cooldown. They mixed long-range attacks with direct assault bombings, so enduring them required considerable endurance. Dogel mainly provided support for his lover, deploying a barrier that nullified damage up to a certain point, significantly reinforcing that barrier, and he also had a shotgun. His HP wasn’t supposed to be that high if the attacks went through, so it was quite manageable to take him down.”
“Was his lover tough?”
“Unbelievably tough. It shouldn’t have been up to 3 million, but it was more than 2.5 million.”
“That’s tough, huh!? With max buffs and using awakening skills, we might be able to manage somehow…”
“That’s Rage and Baldy’s job~.”
“Yeah. To be honest, we might not need the cleaving knife anymore… Well, it could be useful against opponents immune to impact.”
“The final reward seems to change depending on how you defeat them. We ended up with the D-end where we revived and then killed Dogel and his lover.”
“How could you do such a heinous act!?”
“Oh… So they deliberately resurrected them as undead and then killed them…”
“It must have been really hateful to go that far…”
They called me Cupid of Love or something like that. They deserved to die. From now on, I’ll just knock them out right away and be done with it…
“Rewards changing based on the conditions of defeat, huh~. This game sure is interesting…”
“Well then, shall we do that in the morning tomorrow and then head to the sea cave?”
“Sounds good. I don’t have work tomorrow.”
“I’m in too! 7 o’clock?”
“If it’s 7 o’clock, I have to go to bed soon, or I won’t be able to wake up… Ah, what about Rinne-chan?”
“I’ll be taking Don and the others with me, so at that point, we’ll have a party of seven…”
“Do they count as party members?”
“So, should I go with Perseus? And should I take Rena with me?”
“I wonder which flight Rena-chan and Pers-chan would like to take…”
“By the way, is it impossible for Don-chan and the others to join other parties?”
…I’m a bit scared of loaning out Don and the others. There’s a possibility they won’t go into the morgue. Oh, but I remember you can rent a morgue from the undertaker NPC…? If I can get them in there somehow…
“I’m not sure since I’ve never tried it… Also, when I die, my bodies go to my corpse storage, but I’m not sure if that would work…”
“Wow~ Necromancers use the corpse storages like that? Renting one from the undertaker must be tough with just one?”
“Oh, I have ten of them.”
“””Ten?”””
“Y-yes… It’s a necromancer skill, the corpse storages…”
“That’s unfair.”
“That’s convenient… But I prefer fighting on my own…”
“Yeah, it doesn’t seem like my style either.”
“I feel the same~. I mean, the maintenance costs are insane when you think about it. And even as a Dark Manser, you still need catalysts, right? So being a Necromancer is like catalysts! Catalysts! Corpse maintenance fees! Leveling costs! Expenses! Expenses! Expenses! It feels like, you know?”
“Oh yeah~… Don-chan sure eats a lot, huh.”
“Updating equipment for each follower, food expenses, the cost of catalysts used for resurrection when they die, and various other expenses… It seems like a lot of money will be involved…”
“No way, I could never manage that! I was wrong to envy you, that’s impossible!”
“Actually, some manage to cover equipment updates quite a bit with PK.”
“Is it okay to say they’re covering it!?”
“It feels like we’re playing different games…!”
“Well, Rinne-chan is definitely playing a different game, no doubt about it…”
“Are you really playing the same Meltis Online?”
“I’m playing Babylon Online…”
“I want to play that too, Eris-chan!!!”
“I feel like that title suits me better lately.”
“Exactly!”
“I’ve been feeling like there’s not enough Meltis elements!”
Yeah, right? It’s not Meltis Online anymore, it’s Babylon Online! We really should get them to rename it to Babylon Online…
“Good evening~… Is everyone still awake?”
“Oh, Pers-chan doesn’t seem too lively…”
“Hey there.”
“Hey!”
“You don’t seem very energetic, huh?”
“See you~.”
“Sigh… I got scolded by Magna for being too sloppy and lacking sense…”
“When you say Magna, you mean that NPC, the Forbidden Techniques Engineer?”
“That’s right~…”
Oh, Princess Perseus-chan… No, she’s more like Depressed Perseus-chan right now. It seems like she got chewed out by this NPC named Magna… I wonder what happened…
“When I showed him this Metal Heart and Butterfly Memory, he asked if I intended to create even mechanical lifeforms. He even said he wouldn’t mind teaching me how… It was unbelievably difficult…”
“It sounds incredibly challenging…”
“Yes, it was~… Ah! Are we not going to the church tomorrow!?”
“We just talked about that. We’re splitting into two parties and going, but Pers-chan and Rena-chan, which party do you want to join for the dungeon? It’s scheduled for 7 o’clock in the morning.”
“I’m going!!! Early bird gets the worm! I’d like to go with Rena-san, but…”
“Yes, I’m actually in a party of seven~”
“We’ve grown, haven’t we…”
“So, Rena, you’ll come with us. If Rena wants to, that is.”
“Count me in!”
“Well, that’s settled then! I’ll go to bed now! Oh, can I send friend requests?”
“Oh, sure!”
“[You’ve received a friend request from Rage].”
“[You’ve received a friend request from LovesNapping].”
Huh?!
“[You’ve received a friend request from Eris Margaret].”
“[You’ve received a friend request from Baldy].”
Everyone jumped on the bandwagon and sent requests, huh?! Alright, I’ll accept them all, accept, accept, accept…! Wow, wow…! I have more friends here than in real life…!! It’s so exciting!!!
“Nice to meet youuu…!”
“I sent one too~! Thanks for accepting~!”
“Yes, I’m friends with Rinne-chan now!”
“I sent one too. Thanks for accepting! Let’s get along!”
“I’m happy to have more friends!!!”
“Thanks! Well, I’m off to bed now, see you tomorrow!”
“Good job~”
“Yeah, see ya later”
“Bye~”
“Good job everyone~!”
“Goodnight~! I’m pretty resilient, so I’ll go to sleep too!!! See you all tomorrow~!”
“[Rage has logged out]”
“[Perseus has logged out]”
Oh, Pers-chan logged out too. Then I’ll log out too. It’s at 7 o’clock tomorrow, so… I should wake up around 6? Big sis and Laura-chan should be resurrected by then, hopefully… just in time.
“I’m logging out too. See you all tomorrow.”
“Yeah, we’re hitting the sack too.”
“Bye-bye, Eris-chan~”
“I had a lot of fun chatting with you all~. See you later, I’m going to bed for today too…”
Alright, goodnight everyone! Logout, logout…
“[Logging out process in progress… Interference—See you later, crazy girl~! Have a great time at home! Thanks a lot~♡]”
Aaahh!! That’s so sweet!! Goodnight to you too!!!
