Chapter 35: Angel Hunting – Turmoil at the Entrance Part 1
◆ Abandoned Church Entrance ◆
“Reaaadyyy, gooo!!!”
“Push, push, push, push, push!!!”
“Whoooaahhh!!!”
“Screaaaammm!!!”
“What’s happening? Well, as you can see, Donta stumbled at the entrance of the church!!!”
“It’s no use! I managed to get up to Don-chan’s ‘don’ part, but…”
“Don-chan’s ‘tai’ part won’t go in…”
“The thick part won’t fit…”
(´・ω・`)
“Grrroooan…”
So, I was the first to enter the abandoned church, and then Donta tried to follow. At that point, I was already thinking, “Oh, this is gonna be tough.” Anyway, Donta managed to get his ‘don’ part in. Up to ‘don.’ But the ‘tail’ won’t go in! His butt was literally stuck at the entrance of the abandoned church, like, completely stuck… What on earth is he doing? And despite other players trying to help him, he just won’t go in… And he’s determined not to break anything while entering. What’s with that mysterious pride of his?
“Donta, don’t break anything.”
“Grrroooan… (I’m going in…)”
“If you can’t get in, don’t break anything.”
“Grrroooan!!! (I’m goooing in!!!)”
It’s no use. No matter how hard Donta tries, he can’t get in. Just give up and break the entrance already. Some players even asked if they could take screenshots of Donta in this situation, so I had no choice but to agree. Some of them even posted about it on the official bulletin board’s “Warm and Fuzzy Thread.”
And they wanted to post it on the “General Thread,” so I checked the permission box just for that and signed off on it. Honestly, with his size, I always thought someday this would happen, but here?! He’s really doing it, huh, Donta-kun!
“Donta-dono, put some strength into your butt!”
Uh oh, trouble. Chiyo-san’s execution order has arrived. She said if he can’t get in after five minutes, it’s okay to kick his butt… This is gonna be a kick!
“Aaaahhh!!! (Wait, I’m not ready in my heart!)”
“Here we gooo!!!”
“Donta activated [Vajra].”
“Princess Chiyo dealt 51 damage to Donta.”
“Screaaaam!!!”
“Oh, it broke.”
“It’s broken! The entrance!”
“It’s wider now. Carved to fit Don-chan’s butt size.”
“…Is the inside of the dungeon okay?”
“I’m worried…”
“Phew. Finally got in!”
Well done, Princess Chiyo, with that nice dropkick. Now Donta’s ‘tail’ part finally made it in! Everyone, sorry for the trouble… and for the detour through the collapsed part, my apologies.
“Don-chan, is your butt okay?”
“It’s fluffy~”
“Well, since we made it in safely! Good luck with leveling up over there!”
“Bye-bye, Don-chan.”
“I wish I had a fluffy pet… Bye-bye.”
“Screaaam… (Thank you… bye-bye!)”
“He looks so downcast…”
“His ears are flat…”
“Is your butt okay?”
“I didn’t go too hard, so it should be fine!”
“Seems like his pride is more wounded than his butt…”
“Sigh… (I got in… I got in…)”
Donta refuses to admit defeat. Some things just won’t go in. But they were really nice people… Helping push Donta like that… This must be adventurers helping each other out in times of need… Next time I see them being attacked by PK, I’ll lend a hand. I remember their faces.
“Come on, Donta. Getting in isn’t the main goal, right?”
“Wooff!!! (That’s right! Let’s go!)”
You’re quick to switch gears, huh?
“Well then, despite everything, we’re all here! Let’s activate the portal!”
“Oh~”
“We’re going after the angels, right?”
“We won’t let them get away.”
“Angel hunting~”
“Woah! (Let’s take down the enemy!)”
“Whaat?! Angels? That’s not…”
“Oh, never mind…”
Well, we’ve finally reached our goal for this time. So, while we activate the portal, let’s take a look at the information for this dungeon.
[Sealed Church] (Recommended Level 30~) (Recommended Level ??~)
Discovered by Guild [Dreamscape Utopia], Discoverer [Rage Date]
No party has cleared it yet.
Up to 8 people can enter the party.
Memorial Dungeon
No penalties
Can be challenged once a day (Reset of the limit every day at 5:59)
All party members should enter and wait inside the portal.
After a countdown of 30 seconds, members inside the portal will be transferred into the dungeon.
Huh, Rage-san is the discoverer. Well, considering the location, it’ll probably be found quickly, and maybe Rage-san leaked the information about this place too? It’s in the opposite direction from the Ocean Abyss Dungeon, so it’s moving away from that dungeon… Sharing information could indeed have its benefits.
So, what now? Unlike the Ocean Abyss Dungeon, which is randomly generated, this is a Memorial Dungeon. Does that mean it’s the type of dungeon where the contents are remembered? I heard there are monsters around level 50, but the recommended level starts from around 30. Isn’t that strange? Um, just a thought, but could it be…?
“Accepting party leader’s request… Initiating transfer countdown.”
“(Wait, based on the order, aren’t we supposed to go first…? Ahead of the Ocean Dungeon?)”
“(Crab… crayfish…)”
“(I have a feeling…)”
I have a strong feeling that we should tackle this one first in terms of order… Isn’t the Ocean Abyss Dungeon supposed to be the one we enter after this…? Because that place, the difficulty level is insane! Absolutely!
“Countdown, 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… 0. Transfer.”
Whoa, we got transferred while I was thinking about that. Alright, let’s annihilate some angels!!!
◆ Sealed Church ◆
Wow, what a beautiful church! It’s the one with the basilica-style architecture, where it looks like a cross when viewed from above! Yeah, I learned about Gothic architecture as a hobby, so I know~! Is this the same place as the church from earlier? Since it’s still in such pristine condition, does that mean it’s from the past? So, that’s what a Memorial Dungeon means! A dungeon that remembers the past!
“Is this the entrance…?”
“There are quite a few people sitting on the chairs~”
I heard angels would appear, but it seems like there are only human-like figures… Are angels really going to show up?
“Are these angel-type monsters? No, they look pretty human… Oh.”
“Aaaahhhhhhh…”
“Grrraaaaahhh…”
Oh no, they’re zombies… Huh? Are they undead? Was misinformation spread? But that’s… unheard of—
“Sword Cherubim (Lv. 45) dealt 771 damage to Ghoul (Lv. 10) and destroyed it.”
“Lance Cherubim (Lv. 45) dealt 749 damage to Ghoul (Lv. 10) and destroyed it.”
They descended with pillars of light! Angels, angels! Soldiers in white armor with white angel wings on their backs! Chop ’em down.
“Perforate, Curse Spear!!!”
“Weak!!! Curse Spear dealt 1,779 damage to Sword Cherubim (Lv. 45) and defeated it. Experience gained: 1.”
“Wow, we just killed them without question, huh!?”
“Bam!”
“Resist… 07XB785Y activated [Magic Bullet Attribute Change: Fire] and [Quick Draw Shot], dealing 2,215 damage to Sword Cherubim (Lv. 45) and defeating it. Experience gained: 1.”
Hmm… Level 45 is just weaklings at this point. If a regular Sea Urchin has around 800 HP, these guys shouldn’t be that tough either. But only 1 experience point… When there’s such a big level difference, the experience gain is practically nonexistent…
“Weak…”
“Not very tasty…”
“Um… hate to say it, but I don’t really see the point in fighting them.”
“They’re so weak~”
“I’ve never seen angels so feeble before…”
“^^;”
Oh man, even our big bro is disappointed…
“Woof~? (Should I charge and take them all out?)”
“Shall we have Donta scatter the ones coming down next?”
“Should we? There’s probably another level or something, so we’ll see how it goes and then ask Don-chan to wipe them out if it’s okay?”
“Sounds good… changing to Dark attribute to conserve bullets…”
“Well then, Donta, go scatter them.”
Hmm… Is this all…? Yeah, you’re right. Even in the Ocean Abyss Dungeon, the penalty monsters like the Orca types are super tough, but the regular monsters are no match anymore. We mainly hunt bosses, and Donta’s Warg Bullet takes care of the trash mobs.
“Wooff!!! (Alright, let’s do it!)”
I guess we can hide logs that only give 1 experience point. It’s annoying to have them cluttering up the screen. But more importantly, how do we move on to the next floor in this dungeon?
“Disappear!!! You!!”
“Fallen Priest Dogel is attempting to escape!”
Oh, there seems to be a boss-like figure over there!! At the altar in the back!
“Don’t let him escape.”
“MISS… 07XB785Y activated [Quick Draw Shot], but Dark attribute damage has no effect on Fallen Priest Dogel (Lv. 70).”
“I see.”
“Weak!!! 07XB785Y activated [Magic Bullet Attribute Change: Fire] and [Sniping Shot], dealing 34,475 damage to Fallen Priest Dogel (Lv. 70).”
“Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”
Oh, fire works. That boss-like priest, isn’t he undead? His face looks quite skeletal, so he must be undead! Maybe he’s from the same profession as me?
“Gwi schizodus(Death through scorch)!! Anehra(Extinction befalls)!!!! Ah…!!!”
“Aurelia activated [Incendiary Extinction].”
Lia followed up! She launched an incendiary bomb with the power to burn everything in front of her, including angels, zombies, or ghouls! It’s incredibly hot, but it feels like we might get burnt from the heat too?!
“Resist… Sword Cherubim (Lv. 45) turned into a fireball and turned to ashes. Experience gained: 1.”
“Resist… Lance Cherubim (Lv. 45) turned into a fireball and turned to ashes. Experience gained: 1.”
“Weak!!! Ghoul (Lv. 10) turned into a fireball and turned to ashes. Experience gained: 1.”
“Weak!!! Ghoul–”
………
………
………
“Weak!!! Fallen Priest Dogel (Lv. 70) turned into a fireball!”
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”
Oh, his escape attempt halted. Can’t move when you’re turned into a fireball, huh! Well, that’s that then! Okay, let’s finish this!
“It’s over~”
“Weak!!! 07XB785Y activated [Dead End Shot], critical!! Dealing 121,557 damage to Fallen Priest Dogel (Lv. 70) and defeating it. Experience gained: 444,666.”
“Freonil has reached Level 5.”
“Princess Chiyo has reached Level 3.”
As expected of Rena-chan-senpai! Nice shot!! And wow, the level-ups for these two are pretty lame, huh?! Barely going up at all!!
“MVP is Aurelia.”
Wait a minute?! Why?! And she got MVP over Rena-chan-senpai, who dealt almost 150k damage! What’s with that?! Is the slip damage from being a fireball that intense?! Hold on… let’s do some calculations…
With the broom safely enhancing the fire attribute by 1.62 times, and the magic attack power boosted by 50% with Gepopi, and then a 1.5x power boost from the incantation bonus… and the weakness is… 4 times?! Because he’s an undead monster of the undead attribute, so the weakness is doubled twice, making it 4 times?! Simple math, but it’s about 15 times the damage… Even if the initial damage from turning into a fireball was 10,000, that’s about 150,000. Which means it was even higher than that, right…?
“Wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-waaaaaaa… Disappear, disappear!”
((((;゜Д゜))))
“Waaaahhhhh…! (My fur is going to disappear~)”
“Is that the Dragon’s Sorcery? I’ve seen this fire a few times as well.”
The one most surprised is Lia-chan. But even though she’s saying “wa-wa,” she’s actually smiling like this: (>_<)… She can’t hide that aura of naughtiness, you know? Yeah, her karma value is negative, and she’s more on the evil side… Oh, the fire’s out. Good job putting out the extinction fire properly~.
And you’re casually saying that, but Chiyo-san, the fact that you’re alive after seeing that dragon’s fire means… you slashed it, right? Was it delicious…? No, I won’t ask…
“The boss was weak…”
“There was no chance to shine…”
“Maybe this dungeon is the type where you chase after the escaping boss and then angels interfere?”
“Probably, yes. There’s a portal leading to the second floor behind the altar.”
“Huh…? Is this dungeon… over…?”
“No way…”
“Oh, did I do something bad…?!”
“It’s not your fault, Lia-chan. The problem lies with the boss’s side for being so weak.”
“Hu-hu…”
Hmm… So… defeating the boss means there’s a treasure chest, right? There must be one. But with this kind of outcome, it’s probably just a wooden chest, right…??
“You have fulfilled the clearing conditions. If you wish to receive your reward, please proceed to the left-wing portal at the central intersection from the entrance.”
“The reward is over there.”
“Let’s go… It’s rather anticlimactic…”
“I wanted to destroy more angels…”
“Waaaaah… (We worked so hard to get in here…)”
“(´・ω・`)”
“Huuuuu…”
“This is disappointing, isn’t it?”
The reward room is over there. Does that mean nobody has cleared this before? Ah, maybe intentionally letting the boss escape on the first floor, then progressing to higher floors repeatedly for angel hunting yields tasty experience points?
“Well then, let’s go get our reward—”
“Boss’ defeat on the 1st floor confirmed.”
“We have achieved the hidden clearing conditions. If you wish to abandon your reward and proceed to the Forbidden Paradise Dungeon, please proceed to the opposite portal from the reward floor.”
This is…!! Aurelia-sensei did it again!!
“Ooooh, the hidden dungeon!”
“Hidden clearing conditions…?!”
“We have to go, right?! The Forbidden Paradise!!!”
“Woahh, I’m glad we worked hard to get in here!”
“(!・ω・)!”
“There must be tough enemies there! I’m excited to go! Yes, let’s go!”
“Well done, Lia-chan! So, what do we do? Discard the reward and go?”
“The rewards on the surface are probably meager. We learned that from the Great Whale.”
“That’s true. The rewards here are likely inferior… And it seems the level is 5 lower…”
“So, we’re going!?”
“I feel incomplete if we don’t…”
“(´∀`)b”
“Woof! (Let’s go~!)”
Alright then, unanimous decision. Let’s discard the boss’s reward… and off we go to the secret dungeon behind the church!!! To the Forbidden Paradise!!!

I'm in the process of creating a new, more organized glossary for this novel. The current one has grown so large that it's become painful to navigate. I'll be revising older chapters as necessary to ensure consistency.
