I Can Add Points Infinitely - Chapter 61
“You are Shen Lian? A core disciple of the Azure Cloud Sect?”
The leader of the Seven Fiends, Feng Xinglei, stood opposite Shen Lian, his eyes cold and piercing.
“Yes, that would be me.”
Shen Lian nodded calmly. “May I ask why you’ve stopped me? I don’t believe I know any of you.”
“You don’t need to know us.”
“We take money to solve problems for others. We’re just here to borrow something from you.”
Feng Xinglei replied, his tone grim.
The Seven Fiends of Fallen Ghost Cavern were rogue cultivators. They had earned their reputation due to their activities around the Ghost Cave region. Among them, Feng Xinglei, the eldest and strongest at the Golden Core third level, was a ruthless and cunning leader, often directing his brothers. As rogue cultivators, they had to source all their cultivation resources themselves, making their lives particularly harsh. To sustain themselves, they often resorted to robbing and killing.
This time, they were tasked with assassinating Shen Lian, a job Feng Xinglei had accepted. Initially, he had hesitated since Azure Cloud Sect’s core disciples were generally strong, with even the weakest of them being comparable to his own Golden Core third level cultivation. However, he learned that Shen Lian was a newly promoted core disciple with only a third level Foundation Establishment cultivation.
Thus, Feng Xinglei decided to take the risk and see for himself. After confirming Shen Lian’s identity from afar for half a month outside the Dongshi Valley, they finally saw Shen Lian depart. Upon observing Shen Lian at close range, they found that his cultivation appeared to be at the sixth level of Foundation Establishment, slightly higher than expected. Still, this did not deter Feng Xinglei.
“Heh… Even if the information was slightly off, it’s just the sixth level of Foundation Establishment. This will be an easy task,” he thought, feeling more confident.
Meanwhile, Shen Lian, surrounded by the group, remained calm and even smiled slightly. “Borrow something from me?”
“That’s a very cliché opening line. Are you going to ask for my head next?”
“Am I supposed to follow the script and refuse?”
“Huh?”
Caught off guard by Shen Lian’s unexpected response, Feng Xinglei paused for a moment, frowning at him. “You’re quite the talker, even when facing death. At least you’re living up to the reputation of an Azure Cloud Sect core disciple.”
“Haha… Thank you for the compliment,” Shen Lian replied with a smile. Then, with a slight pause, he continued, “Since you’re only doing your job, I don’t hold any grudge against you. However, before I die, could I ask you for a favor?”
“A favor? Trying to buy your life with money?”
“No, no…”
Shen Lian shook his head. “I just don’t want to die without knowing the reason. Could you tell me who wants my life?”
“You’re asking too much. It’s against the rules. Even if I knew who hired us, I wouldn’t tell you,” Feng Xinglei replied coldly.
“Really, we can’t negotiate?”
Shen Lian pressed further.
“Hmph, stop wasting time. With your measly strength, dragging things out won’t help.”
Feng Xinglei sneered and glanced to the side. “Third Brother, handle him.”
“Got it.”
The third brother, a middle-aged man with a face full of pockmarks, grinned with excitement and charged toward Shen Lian, wielding a massive machete. His aura surged, the blade cutting through the air like a hurricane, aimed directly at Shen Lian.
Sigh
“I was hoping to get some information…”
As the opponent charged forward, Shen Lian remained unperturbed, even showing a hint of regret as he shook his head.
Sensing something was amiss, Feng Xinglei quickly warned, “Third Brother, be careful, this guy’s up to something…”
Unfortunately, his realization came too late.
Just as he spoke, Shen Lian moved abruptly. His hand lifted, and the Blue Jade Sword appeared in his grasp. Without dodging, he slashed forward like lightning, directly toward the incoming machete.
“Swish!”
A thin black line appeared in the air, so fine it was barely visible, seemingly weak and fragile. Yet, when it met the blade’s wind, it cut through as if slicing through paper, splitting the machete’s attack in two and continuing onward, striking the third brother.
“Snikt!”
A faint slicing sound echoed.
The third brother’s charging body froze mid-air, his face stiffened in shock.
A moment later, he fell to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut, his body splitting into two halves before he even hit the earth. Blood and broken organs scattered, raining down in a crimson shower.
“Third Brother!”
Feng Xinglei shouted in agony.
Due to a single miscalculation, a brother he had fought beside for years had met a grisly end. Now, seething with rage, his eyes burned red as he glared at Shen Lian.
“You bastard! So you’re actually at the peak of Foundation Establishment. But even so, you won’t escape death today!”
Feng Xinglei roared in fury.
The moment Shen Lian attacked, his true cultivation level was exposed, revealing his tenth level Foundation Establishment.
“Hold him down. Leave this to me,” Feng Xinglei ordered his companions. He then wielded a short, pitch-black spiritual sword, his third level Golden Core aura surging fully as he locked onto Shen Lian.
However, after cultivating the Split Soul Technique, Shen Lian felt no pressure at all. To him, Feng Xinglei’s attempt to intimidate was like a breeze.
Calmly, he remarked, “I haven’t stretched my limbs in a while; might as well use you all for some practice.”
With that, Shen Lian raised his left hand and tossed a small silver-glowing flag into the sky. Then, he formed a hand seal and shouted, “Scatter!”
“Swish!”
A whooshing sound pierced through the air as the flag multiplied into thirty-six flags, spinning in a mysterious formation. Suddenly, the entire area darkened, as if shrouded by an unseen force.
“What kind of treasure is that?”
The group exclaimed in surprise.
As they stared in shock, the small flags rapidly expanded, seemingly blanketing the whole sky, and descended with a thundering roar.
Darkness enveloped the surroundings, only for specks of starlight to begin twinkling in the void. It felt as if they had been transported from day to night in an instant.
“What’s going on?”
“Boss…?”
“Second Brother?”
“Where are you all?”
…
As everyone regained their senses, they realized with horror that all their comrades had vanished. The group was left in disarray, shouting frantically, but no one replied.
It was as if they had been transported alone to an unfamiliar starry sky, each left to face their fate.
