The three Thunder Valley disciples, furious and desperate, sprinted ahead, chasing an imagined enemy. They were completely unaware that a deadly pursuer was silently closing in from behind.

Shen Lian, using the Lingbo Weibu, moved like an invisible breeze, not making a sound. He quickly caught up to the last of the three, positioning himself beside the man.

In an instant, the Blue Jade Sword materialized in Shen Lian’s right hand. Without hesitation, his eyes turned cold, and he slashed out, aiming for a swift end. To ensure a quick victory, he unleashed a trace of his embryonic Sword Intent.

Swish!

A faint sound of the blade cutting through the air echoed. The man at the rear froze mid-step, unable to even scream as he was sliced cleanly in half, blood spraying everywhere.

“There’s someone here!”

“Be careful—”

The two in front, hearing the sudden commotion, instinctively turned their heads. Before they could make out Shen Lian’s face, a flash of blue sword light was already upon them.

Having felled his first target, Shen Lian didn’t pause. As the two turned, he was already closing in on the second.

The Blue Jade Sword swung in a smooth arc, slicing horizontally. The target hastily reacted, attempting to block with his steel sword. Unfortunately, against the Blue Jade Sword’s sharpness, his weapon was no match.

Clang!

Like cutting through paper, the Blue Jade Sword cleaved effortlessly through the steel, continuing its deadly path. A severed head flew into the air, trailing a fountain of blood.

The last of the trio, slightly farther away, initially intended to join his comrades in facing Shen Lian. But seeing how his companions were dispatched like they were nothing, he was terrified. He immediately retreated, desperately fleeing into the distance.

Only after putting some distance between them did he dare look back at Shen Lian.

“Damn it, who are you?”

“You Azure Cloud Sect disciples only know how to sneak attack, huh?”

Witnessing his fellow disciples cut down like vegetables, the youth was terrified to his core, yet reluctant to flee entirely. He gauged the distance between himself and Shen Lian, thinking he could at least react if Shen Lian attacked. Feeling somewhat reassured, he began shouting insults.

Shen Lian remained calm, ignoring the taunts. Instead, he turned around and began collecting his spoils from the two fallen bodies, retrieving their storage bags.

“You…”

The youth grew angrier, helpless to do anything but vent, cursing, “You despicable coward, only capable of sneak attacks! Leave your name, Azure Cloud Sect won’t let you get away with this!”

“Oh, really?”

Shen Lian stashed away the storage bags, lightly dusted off his chest, and lazily looked at the youth.

“Besides ambushing, I’m quite good at direct combat too. Want to try?”

“You…”

The youth’s voice faltered, choked by Shen Lian’s response. He wasn’t foolish; he had seen Shen Lian’s terrifying skills and knew he wasn’t a match. There was no way he’d willingly face him in battle.

Seeing the youth’s hesitation, Shen Lian grinned and flashed his teeth. “Not willing? Then keep running.”

“What?”

The youth was stunned, and before he could react, Shen Lian made his move. His figure blurred, rapidly closing the distance.

“Shit…”

Panicking, the youth abandoned all bravado and bolted, sprinting for his life like a stray dog. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that, as a ninth-level Qi Refinement cultivator, he’d be reduced to fleeing like a beaten cur on his first day in the secret realm.

He poured every ounce of strength into his escape, yet Shen Lian steadily closed the gap between them.

The Lingbo Weibu, rated as a high-tier human-grade movement technique by the system, wasn’t just for show. Even without using its illusionary decoys, its speed alone was peerless below the Foundation Establishment realm. Though the youth’s footwork was decent, it was far inferior compared to Shen Lian’s.

Within half a tea’s time, the hundred-meter gap had shrunk to less than ten meters.

“You…”

“Damn it, stop chasing me…”

“I, I, I… damn it…”

Sweat poured down the youth’s face, his eyes constantly darting to Shen Lian, who was drawing closer with every step. Realizing that escape was impossible, a sudden thought flashed through his mind. He pulled out his storage bag from his robe.

“Damn it, take it! Everything I own is in here, just stop chasing me!”

Mustering his strength, he hurled the bag aside, hoping Shen Lian would be tempted to stop and collect it, thinking that, after all, everyone was fighting for the same reason—these treasures.

To his dismay, Shen Lian remained unfazed, his icy gaze locked onto him. Instead of diverting, Shen Lian used the distraction to close the gap even further.

“You…”

“I threw you the bag; why are you still chasing me?”

“What the hell do you want?”

The youth was on the verge of tears, shouting in desperation.

“Just finishing the job. Storage bags don’t run away. I’ll kill you first, then go back and pick it up.” Shen Lian’s voice was calm and indifferent.

Hearing this, the youth’s last hope was crushed. Realizing there was no escape, he gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing with madness.

“Damn it, you think I’m scared of you? I’ll take you down with me!”

“Phantom Moon Slash!”

His spiritual energy surged, and he spun around, seemingly conjuring a crescent moon behind him. Pushed to his limits, the youth unleashed his strongest move.

Unexpectedly, being cornered like this seemed to have triggered a breakthrough in his technique, perfectly aligning his spirit, energy, and essence. The power of his Phantom Moon Slash skyrocketed.

Feeling the unexpected surge in his attack, hope reignited in the youth’s eyes.

“Maybe this outburst will be enough to kill him!” he thought excitedly.

But the moment that thought crossed his mind—

Swish!

A sword light flashed.

The youth’s body stiffened on the spot. Behind him, the crescent moon that had just risen was swiftly shattered and dissipated.

“I told you, I’m pretty good at direct combat too.”

Shen Lian’s voice was calm.

Bang!

As his words fell, the youth’s body split in half, collapsing to the ground. Blood quickly soaked the earth.

Shen Lian remained composed, indifferent to the blood-soaked scene around him. He searched the body, confirming that the youth had indeed thrown his storage bag away and had no other valuables on him.

Standing up, Shen Lian prepared to retrieve the discarded bag. However, just as he took his first step, the surrounding space suddenly trembled violently. A massive, irresistible force pinned Shen Lian in place, rendering him immobile.

He stood rigid, unable to move even a finger, with only his eyes able to shift slightly, revealing his growing panic.

“What’s happening? What’s going on?”

Shen Lian’s mind was full of questions. The overwhelming pressure he felt was something even his Golden Core master had never exerted, far beyond anything he could comprehend.

Buzz~~~~~

The air around him began to hum softly, and before Shen Lian could react, his figure vanished as if he had never been there.

All that remained were the two still-warm halves of the corpse, lying in the blood-soaked clearing.
