- Chapter 27 - Entering the Secret Realm, Broken Spiritual Weapon
The Dragon Cloud Piercer Boat, an upper-tier treasure, was a specialized flying artifact. It was inscribed with countless restrictive formations, granting it exceptional speed, formidable defense, and powerful offensive capabilities, making it a strategic-level asset. Due to its immense value, even the entire Azure Cloud Sect possessed only one such vessel.
While powerful individuals or wealthy sects could buy smaller flying artifacts to avoid the fatigue of flying swords, these were usually much smaller and far less capable than the Azure Cloud Sect’s colossal vessel, which could carry thousands within its vast interior. The Dragon Cloud Boat was thus employed for this journey, as all the disciples heading to the secret realm were below the Foundation Establishment stage and unable to fly on their own.
The supervising elder gestured upwards, and several cloud ladders descended from the ship.
“Get on, quickly,” he ordered.
The disciples climbed aboard, one after another. When everyone was on, the supervising elder ascended with a flash, gave a brisk command, and the enormous ship surged forward with an astonishing speed, vanishing into the horizon in mere moments.
Inside the Dragon Cloud Boat, Shen Lian and the others marveled at the luxury and scale of the treasure. Many disciples wandered around, admiring the interior, with the supervising elder only issuing minor warnings, as even with everyone’s curiosity, the treasure’s resilience was beyond their means to harm.
After a day and a night of travel, they finally arrived at their destination—an unidentifiable mountain valley far from the Azure Cloud Sect. The exact location was unknown to the disciples, which was likely intentional to keep the secret realm’s location safe.
“We’ll wait a moment; the others aren’t here yet,” the supervising elder announced.
Just as he finished speaking, a streak of light approached swiftly from the distance, revealing a slightly smaller but more refined flying ship—Thunder Valley’s vessel.
As the ship settled, its disciples descended the cloud ladders, positioning themselves across from the Azure Cloud Sect group.
“Look at that, Azure Cloud Sect got here early.”
“Yeah, being early doesn’t matter; they still had to wait for us,” the Thunder Valley disciples remarked loudly.
“Hmph, they show up late and still have the nerve to talk big…”
“I hope they’re just as slow inside the secret realm. We’ll be sure to take all the treasures first,” the Azure Cloud Sect disciples shot back.
“What did you say?”
“Who are you calling slow?”
“Whoever responds, that’s who,” one Azure Cloud disciple sneered.
“Careful, Senior Brother, I think you’ve stepped on a dog’s tail,” another joked.
“You…”
“That’s enough!”
The supervising elders’ combined shout silenced the bickering instantly. Thunder Valley’s elder, a stern-looking middle-aged man, stepped forward with a cold gaze.
“Let’s get started.”
“Proceed,” the Azure Cloud Sect elder replied curtly, both clearly disinterested in exchanging pleasantries. The two elders moved to the center, their hands forming intricate seals as violent spiritual energy surged.
Shen Lian observed the tense atmosphere, realizing that the hostility between Azure Cloud Sect and Thunder Valley was worse than he had imagined. If things were this tense at the outset, confrontations within the secret realm were inevitable.
The two elders’ auras peaked, and a golden light appeared between them, emanating an ancient and oppressive force that made everyone shiver.
“Open!”
With a simultaneous shout, torrents of spiritual energy poured into the golden light, which swelled until it burst, transforming into a shimmering, dark portal that twisted and swirled, giving off a mysterious and foreboding aura.
“The portal is open. Get in now; it will close automatically when time’s up,” the elders commanded.
“Let’s go!” Yun Xiong, ready and eager, grabbed Shen Lian and sprinted toward the portal. “Remember, the locator I gave you can track our positions. Find us as soon as you can,” he called before leaping into the vortex.
Shen Lian followed moments later, feeling a tremendous pressure as if traveling through a space tunnel. Before he could fully register the sensation, the pressure vanished, and he found himself in a dense forest.
“So, this is the secret realm?” Shen Lian looked around, noting the absence of the portal and any other people. Clearly, everyone had been teleported to random locations.
Taking out the locator Yun Xiong had given him, he channeled his spiritual energy into it, revealing three green dots representing his senior brothers and sister, and a red dot indicating his own position.
“Looks like two are to the east and one to the north,” Shen Lian murmured. Rather than rushing to regroup, he decided to explore the immediate area first.
The forest was lush, with remnants of ancient structures peeking through the vegetation. Sunlight filtering through the trees glinted off something bright, catching Shen Lian’s eye.
“What’s that?”
Curious, Shen Lian approached to find a bronze mirror partially buried among the ruins. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a damaged low-grade spiritual artifact.
“This seems to be a low-grade spiritual tool, but it’s broken,” he observed, noting a long crack across the mirror’s surface and worn edges. The array inscribed within had been destroyed, reducing its value significantly—probably worth only the materials.
Just as Shen Lian was about to stow the mirror in his storage bag, a loud, mocking laugh echoed from behind.
“Hahaha… Who would’ve thought I’d find a treasure right after entering? My luck’s not bad at all!”
Shen Lian turned to see a Thunder Valley disciple, eyes gleaming with greed.
