Jiang Zhi arrived at the classroom just as the class was about to start, thanks to Meng Yun’s antics. As the bell rang, everyone’s attention was focused on her as she walked to the front row and took a seat. It wasn’t her intention to stand out, but with Shen Yi watching her, she couldn’t risk sitting in the back and giving him an excuse to dock her final grade after their ugly breakup.

Fortunately, the girl next to her, who was on friendly terms with Jiang Zhi, noticed her discomfort and tried to comfort her, but then she made a comment that made her want to crawl into the ground.

“Why are your lips swollen? And there’s a mark at the corner of your mouth…let me see!”

As the girl leaned in, Jiang Zhi instinctively veered back, covering her mouth and whispering as quietly as possible, “I’m fine. I just tripped on the stairs because I was in such a hurry.”

She pulled out a small mirror from her bag. Her lips were swollen as if she’d eaten chilli peppers, and the bite mark on the corner was so obvious she felt like she might as well be walking around n🔥ked.

While she mentally plotted revenge on Meng Yun, Shen Yi’s voice interrupted her thoughts.

“Jiang Zhi, come up and share your project case with the class.”

Caught off guard, her mind went blank.

When she met his gaze, she was certain he was doing this on purpose.

“Here, take this.”

The girl beside gave her a helping hand and offered her a mask.

Jiang Zhi hurriedly put it on and took the USB drive to the podium, and was copying the file to the computer when Shen Yi’s mean voice reached her ears.

“Speaking through a mask will make it hard for us to understand you.”

He stood casually against the podium with his back to the class in what seemed like a relaxed posture.

But Jiang Zhi was the only one who could see the anger simmering in his eyes.

“I accidentally tripped earlier, Professor Shen. Don’t worry, I’ll try my best to speak clearly.”

Using her long hair to shield her expression, she shot him a warning look, which finally allowed her to finish the rest of her presentation smoothly.

Five minutes later, she stepped down from the platform, a thin layer of sweat covering her back.

She knew her case study was mediocre at best, and she braced herself for the criticism from Shen Yi.

But to her surprise, he said nothing. He didn’t even bother to critique it or use it as a teaching moment. He simply continued the lesson as if her presentation had been a minor, insignificant interruption.

The more Jiang Zhi thought about it, the angrier she became. Two men had already toyed with her emotions this early in the morning, and she had no idea how she was going to explain her swollen lips to Xi Yu when she went back. Every man in her life was acting like a jerk.

On the podium, Shen Yi could feel her gaze shift from panic and fear to something more resentful and hurt.

When the class ended, Jiang Zhi packed up her things as quickly as possible, clearly eager to leave the room and put as much distance between herself and Shen Yi as she could.

But why should she have to be the one to leave?

Just as she turned to walk out, her eyes met Meng Yun’s, who had just arrived.

His expression was just as unfriendly, and more so was… smug.

“Good day, Professor Shen. I’m here to pick someone up.” Meng Yun greeted him boldly.

Had Meng Yun kept quiet, Shen Yi could have maintained a dignified silence and left the room without acknowledging him. But as a man, he felt no need to endure such provocation.

After all, he was the victim here, wasn’t he?

“Jiang Zhi,” Shen Yi turned around and called her name.

Luckily, most of the students had already left the classroom, so she wasn’t about to be publicly humiliated.

“What?” she asked, clearly irritated.

“Come to my office.”

“Why?” Jiang Zhi and Meng Yun asked simultaneously.

“Do I need a reason? How about an incomplete assignment?” Shen Yi hit her where it hurt. He was known for his high standards, and two incomplete assignments in one semester would mean failing the course.

“Abusing your authority?” Meng Yun sneered.

Shen Yi gave him a cold glance and ignored him, turning back to Jiang Zhi with a final remark before walking out.

“Do as you wish.”
