I Bind with NP System After Being Abandoned by the 1V1 System - Chapter 32
When she was finally put down, it was on a small path. As soon as her feet touched the ground, she was pushed up against a tree. Jiang Zhi was furious, every bit of her ready to fight back.
“Meng Yun, I’m really mad right now!”
“Jiejie, I’m really mad too!”
The two stood there, facing off. She was genuinely worried about Shen Yi, while this person was equally determined not to let her go.
“So what do you want?” Her voice trembled, tinged with sobs as she squeezed out a few tears to appear pitiful.
“Jiejie, can’t you just do it with me? I don’t want to share you with so many others.”
She thought she was putting on a good act, but this person’s expression showed even more genuine hurt, which surprisingly made her feel a bit guilty.
“It’s a bit complicated,” she admitted honestly. “Meng Yun, this is difficult to explain, but you have to understand, even though Jiejie doesn’t like only you, I do like you too, okay?”
Jiang Zhi felt a chill down her spine as she realized she was now manipulating him the same way she had helped her friends avoid manipulative guys. It was thrilling and nerve-wracking, afraid he might catch on.
But unfortunately, she had overestimated Meng Yun’s understanding.
“Then how can you only like me?”
For a moment, she saw the same pitiful look in his eyes that she had seen in Shiqi when he was locked on the balcony.
“Ahem,” she coughed twice, lowering her head to keep her composure. “You know what happened in ancient times to concubines who demanded the emperor to dismiss the entire harem just to be with them?”
“What happened?” he asked, eyes full of curiosity as if trying to see right through her.
“They get sent to the Cold Palace.”
The four words hit like a cold wind, making his body stiffen and his face go pale.
“I don’t want that.” He tightened his arms around her, as if afraid he might end up the same way.
“Okay, okay… good!”
She gently patted his back, calming him down until he finally let go bit by bit.
Before making her escape, she offered one last bit of comfort: “Don’t worry. If you work hard and improve yourself, I might spoil you a bit more!”
As soon as she finished speaking, she noticed a taxi approaching on the road nearby. She took off running, thankful that his confusion as an athlete had given her those precious few seconds to react and escape.
Once in the car, she gave the driver Shen Yi’s address, then pulled out her phone to send him messages, trying to soothe his temper.
Even she found it strange—one moment she was playing the emperor with Meng Yun, and the next, she was being a eunuch for Shen Yi.
She sent a screenful of messages but didn’t receive a single reply till the time she arrived at his door and rang the bell.
Afraid he wouldn’t answer if he saw it was her, she quickly hid in the blind spot of the surveillance camera.
As soon as he opened the door, she seized the opportunity to slip inside, wrapping her arms around his waist and refusing to let go.
“Master… I missed you so much. If you’re angry, punish me, but please don’t ignore me, okay?”
He showed no mercy. Her strength was nothing to him, and he easily pulled her away, gripping her shoulders and keeping her at arm’s length.
System: “Warning, relationship with target is weak, may dissolve at any moment. Miss Jiang Zhi, take caution.”
This life-or-death situation scared her so much that she almost lost control of her emotions. Fortunately, the icy look on Shen Yi’s face was enough to cool her overheated brain.
“Master…” she called out weakly, lacking confidence.
He sighed, as if releasing some pent-up frustration. “So, what number am I?”
He didn’t waste time on pleasantries, going straight to the point. She bit her lip, struggling to answer. After a long internal battle, she chose the noble quality of honesty.
“The… the fourth one.”
She stammered out the words, then immediately regretted it and tried to save the situation. “You were supposed to be the third, but… but…”
No matter how she tried to explain, her words only seemed to make things worse and her words became her biggest hindrance.
