I Bind with NP System After Being Abandoned by the 1V1 System - Chapter 31
Without any interruptions, Jiang Zhi managed to take a good nap in the RV, and it was three hours later that she woke up.
It was almost 4 PM, and it was time to head home.
She didn’t have classes today, and if she wasn’t home before Xi Yu returned, it would be difficult to explain later.
Worried that there might be paparazzi nearby, she opened the window just a crack to check her surroundings. Once she confirmed that no one was paying attention, she got out of the car.
However, she hadn’t taken more than two steps before that Cheng Huai, now out of his costume and fully disguised, caught up with her.
He appeared suddenly, wearing a black mask and hat. Fortunately, she recognized his eyes and wasn’t startled into shouting for help.
“Did you finish early today? I was a bit tired earlier and accidentally fell asleep in your RV. I hope you don’t mind.”
Switching from the intense dynamic of the warlord’s captive in the story to interacting with Cheng Huai as a person felt strange to her. Away from that bed, the distance between them seemed more pronounced.
“Don’t mind. It was my fault.”
“No, no, it’s fine.” She gave an awkward laugh, feeling embarrassed. It wasn’t entirely his fault—there were three people and a dog involved, so he didn’t need to take all the blame.
He didn’t respond, and with nothing more to say, they stood there awkwardly for a minute. Jiang Zhi really didn’t want to stand around in the cold with him, so she took the initiative to say goodbye: “I’ll head home now. See you next time.”
Cheng Huai’s gaze was complicated, as if he had something to say, but in the end, he swallowed it back and simply murmured an “mm.”
She turned to leave, intending to head home happily, but the situation became complicated when she noticed Shen Yi standing across the street, watching.
She froze in place, glancing back to see that Cheng Huai hadn’t left yet. She quickly urged him in a low voice: “You should go back. You’ve worked hard today, get some rest!”
Thankfully, Cheng Huai didn’t notice anything unusual. He obediently turned and headed back to his car.
After sending one off, she quickly put on a fawning expression and trotted over to Shen Yi.
“Master, what a coincidence… What are you doing here…?”
She smiled as she greeted him, but her voice was getting weaker with each word.
The look in Shen Yi’s eyes seemed to see right through her.
“Whose car was that?”
He dropped a bomb with his first question, making Jiang Zhi’s heart sink. She bit her lip, unsure how to respond.
This was her most unstable target, and if he dumped her, she’d be facing serious consequences.
“Master, a friend, just a friend.”
As she stood there with her head lowered and struggling to find the right words, she suddenly lost her balance. A large hand landed on her shoulder, pulling her into a firm embrace.
She looked up and saw it was Meng Yun.
Jiang Zhi’s only remaining thought was that her life was pretty much over at this point.
“Jiejie, didn’t you tell me you were going to stay home and rest this afternoon? What are you doing at school?”
‘Another new man’. Already feeling jealous, Meng Yun refused to let her go despite her struggles.
“Is this your senior? Nice to meet you, I’m her… didi. My name’s Meng Yun.”
One surnamed Meng and one Jiang, and acting as if there was no one around, what a good younger brother.
Shen Yi’s expression grew colder as he looked at Jiang Zhi, who was nervously held in someone else’s arms. “It seems you’re busy. I won’t disturb you any further.”
He walked away decisively, moving quickly.
“No, Shen Yi, wait for me!”
She tried harder to push Meng Yun away, but he was like a solid post. Not only did he refuse to let go, but he also picked her up and slung her over his shoulder.
“Jiejie, how many men are there? Am I not even your side piece?”
He asked, carrying her off in the opposite direction from Shen Yi.
