I Bind with NP System After Being Abandoned by the 1V1 System - Chapter 22
A huge dog head suddenly popped up through the gap between the car seats, almost causing Jiang Zhi to fall over in fright.
“Are you okay?” Xi Yu quickly steadied her and explained, “A friend found this stray dog but couldn’t keep it, so they gave it to me. Sorry, I didn’t mention it to you earlier.”
While the man was still feeling guilty, Jiang Zhi was already cuddling the dog’s head, showering it with kisses.
“Oh my gosh, little doggy, you’re so adorable!”
The dog had just come back from the pet groomer, its fur fluffy and fragrant, and Jiang Zhi couldn’t get enough of it.
It was a black-and-white long-haired Alaskan Malamute, in great condition but slightly underweight from being a stray for so long.
“Alright, you can pet it more when we get home. Buckle up first.” Xi Yu patted her head, looking at her with even more affection than he did at the dog.
As she settled into her seat, Xi Yu started the car, but the dog in the backseat, suddenly feeling neglected, began rubbing against her chair and whimpering softly like a spoiled child.
“Awwooo… hum hum hum… woof!”
“What’s going on? It was fine just a moment ago.”
Xi Yu glanced at the dog through the rearview mirror, while Jiang Zhi couldn’t resist reaching back to pet it.
With her touch, the dog calmed down, resting its head on her shoulder, tongue lolling out contentedly and stopped making any noises.
“Looks like it was love at first sight. Xi Yu, let’s keep it!” She looked at him expectantly, ready to throw a fit if he dared say no.
“Of course, that sounds great. It can keep you company when I’m not around.”
Although he had already arranged for someone else to adopt the dog, he couldn’t refuse Jiang Zhi and accepted this unexpected change of plans.
Once they got home, Jiang Zhi immediately got out of the car, opened the backseat door to let the dog out.
“You take it inside, I’ll park the car and join you.”
Xi Yu drove off to the underground parking, while Jiang Zhi took the dog up in the elevator.
After entering the apartment, she unleashed the dog, letting it roam freely to familiarize itself with the new surroundings. She sat on the couch, observing its every move.
When the dog finally emerged from the last room, she clapped her hands and called out, “Come here, come to Mama!”
Despite being a stray, the dog instantly understood her command and instantly came charging toward her, its four legs moving rapidly.
At first, she didn’t think much of it, but as the dog got closer, picking up speed without any sign of stopping, Jiang Zhi panicked. Realizing she wouldn’t have time to dodge, she shielded her face with her hands and collapsed onto the couch.
She braced for the heavy impact, but the sensation that followed was unexpected. Instead of the soft feel of fur, her hands touched something that felt like human skin—smooth, with distinct contours.
“Help!”
Frightened, she pushed the large object away, stumbling off the couch and scrambling to escape. But when she opened her eyes again, there was nothing but the dog sitting there, grinning at her.
“You…” She stared at the dog in a daze, rubbing her palms, convinced that the sensation she had felt wasn’t her imagination.
But if it wasn’t, and there was no one else in the apartment, how could someone touch her and disappear so quickly?
“Was I just imagining things?” she muttered to the dog.
“Awoo…”
As if understanding her, the large Alaskan Malamute nuzzled into her arms, rolling over to expose its belly for a rub. Its antics quickly dispelled her unease.
By the time Xi Yu returned, she had completely forgotten about the incident, fully absorbed in admiring her handsome new “dog son.”
