Chapter 7: Poking the Great Savior’s Heart…

Yunxi had no patience for guessing games. He chose to draw his weapons and confront the opponent head-on.

But the other party fought dirty – every time Yunxi drew a weapon, they teleported it away, again and again…

The opponent persisted stubbornly: Breaking the game rules at such a moment would make everything quite boring, Yunxi-kun.

Yunxi was utterly defeated.

Damn Yokohama Espers bullying the young and powerless Savior! Just wait until the Savior grows stronger – I’ll elbow you all two miles away!!!

But clearly, that would have to wait for who knows how long.

For now, facing this situation where he didn’t know who was causing trouble but it seemed like some kind of skinwalker seeking validation, the most Yunxi could do was grit his teeth and, using the most vicious language he could think of, answer in one breath:

I guess you’re a third-party labor dispatch community public welfare position employee with a monthly salary of 3,000 RMB but actually paid 2,000, with the remaining 1,000 compensated in silk quilts.

Gogol: ?

Say that again, who was he?

Goglo released the youth slightly, then activated his special ability the moment the other turned around, severing the other’s forearm.

Gogol slowly stroked the other’s hand, even maliciously pressing on the spot where the youth had been injured not long ago.

Throughout this process, Gogol carefully observed the youth with his two eyes not covered by the poker card mask.

Noticing that although the youth showed no signs of pain, just like many people Gogol had seen before, he chose to remain still after seeing his body being severed, Gogol chuckled lowly before speaking loudly:

Let me introduce myself! Yunxi-kun, my name is Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol Yanovsky, a space-type ability user, and a clown who came here in pursuit of freedom!

I’ve been observing you for many days, so now! Question again! Gogol straightened up, his expression finally shifting from the previous exaggerated smile to seriousness, his gold and silver eyes fixed intently on Yunxi. Do you like birds?

Yunxi’s mind had been overheating since earlier.

Actually, before the other mentioned clown, Yunxi had already realized who he was. Because Yunxi had stolen again, obtaining a pair of spare white gloves the other carried.

The gloves were named [Clown’s Gloves], making it impossible for Yunxi not to connect them with [Clown’s Poker Card Mask].

But Yunxi forcibly held back the words So you’re that clown, you’ve really made me search everywhere.

After all, Yunxi had previously thought the white hair was because the other was wearing some clown headgear. But now it appeared that aside from slightly exaggerated makeup and clown clothing, the other’s appearance would, would, would…

Would be so perfectly aligned with Yunxi’s Chinese aesthetic standards!

In comparison, the other’s full 60 combat power became relatively unimportant!

Yunxi swore he had previously scoffed at sayings like white hair is specially appealing to Chinese people, otherwise he wouldn’t have treated Shirase that way before. But now, the clown had proven with facts how pretentious Yunxi had been before!

Yunxi thought about many things, but not much time had actually passed in reality.

Just as Gogol was about to remind Yunxi again, Yunxi finally spoke.

I like birds, but I like you more. Yunxi struggled to control his teleported hand to grab the Clown’s hand.

Staring directly into those heterochromatic eyes—one gold, one silver—Yunxi took a deep breath and then declared loudly:

Anyway! For the sake of this great Savior who won’t live long, please do me a favor and become the great Savior’s boyfriend!

Gogol: ?

Gogol: ???

The Savior really won’t live long. Why won’t you agree to be with the Savior?

I’ll even permit you to remarry with my assets. Yunxi added.

He was lying. Yunxi was an extremely stingy Savior. Before dying, he would definitely rig his assets with timed explosives—everyone except Gogol, who could teleport the blast waves away, would be best sent to their graves by him!

Gogol didn’t know what Yunxi was thinking, but the smile on his face still stiffened slightly.

The Clown has no interest in something as utterly unfree as romance!

Well, it seemed he wasn’t lying.

Yunxi sighed, unable to stop himself from marveling inwardly.

Truly a freedom-seeking Clown! To think the problem is just lack of freedom rather than gender or age?!

Gogol, under Yunxi’s stare, gave a dry laugh and said, Yunxi-kun, you still haven’t told me your opinion on my ‘freedom.’

What opinion could Yunxi possibly have? He stealthily moved closer to Gogol and said, It’s quite good. A rather kind approach to pursuing freedom.

Gogol: ?

Kind? Him?

Hadn’t he just said Opening the skull can liberate thoughts from the physical body?

Pursuing freedom, and you actually believe the only constraint is the skull—that’s already kind enough. How is it different from a rebellious teen declaring ‘I won’t be a good kid anymore’?

Yunxi leaned even closer to Gogol: I thought the constraint in your eyes would be this entire world, and you’d try to destroy it like certain others!

But it’s good that it’s not this way. At least I don’t need to figure out how to kill you… Yunxi inched closer yet again.

While Gogol was still pondering Yunxi’s words, a sudden weight fell on his shoulder.

Gogol: !

The usual Gogol wouldn’t have failed to dodge Yunxi, but he’d spent so much time with Yunxi (though Yunxi didn’t know) that he wasn’t as sensitive to Yunxi’s proximity as he’d imagined.

Thus, he found himself directly hugged by Yunxi.

Poking at the great Savior’s weak spot!!!

Gogol: .

The intuition part.

Sensing intense threat, Yunxi promptly let go and lay back on the cushion, avoiding having his head severed by Gogol’s special ability.

Yunxi: It’s already very late. I’m going to sleep. There aren’t any other houses around here, right? Will you stay with me?

Gogol wanted to say he’d never sleep beside someone—that would be too unfree.

But the moment this thought formed, a violent storm began raging outside.

When he tried to use his teleportation ability to leave quickly, his chosen landing spot was struck by lightning just before he activated the teleport, instantly charring all vegetation on the ground black.

Slowly, Goglo released his cloak.

He had reasonable suspicions that all of this was Yunxi’s doing, but he had no evidence.

Moreover, since the other party was a space-type ability user, they wouldn’t possess such capabilities.

Gogol stared at Yunxi for a long while.

Finally, Gogol revealed a wide grin: The Clown suddenly thinks staying isn’t so bad after all!

Perhaps this was the trial on his path to pursuing freedom!

Gogol then thought that if this truly was a trial on his journey toward freedom, then the world’s malice toward him was indeed overwhelming.

Yunxi’s body had already been cleaned by Gogol using his space-type ability, so it definitely couldn’t be considered dirty.

But Yunxi was too clingy.

Gogol found it incredibly difficult to restrain his impulse to not act against the other.

But herein lay the problem—every time Gogol wanted to directly throw the person out or teleport away himself, he would be interrupted by various unexpected incidents.

Gogol felt like giving up.

He stared unblinkingly at the ceiling, his long silver hair spread out, slightly wavy from being braided for so long, flowing like moonlight over his back.

Just then, Yunxi turned over, pressing against Gogol’s shoulder. His black hair, shorter than Gogol’s but still past his shoulders, cascaded down with gravity, slowly devouring a corner of the silver-white strands.

Boom! Thunder struck again.

Gogol was completely convinced.

Gogol began to miss his hard-to-kill—but probably not as difficult as Yunxi—best friend.

When he woke up tomorrow, he would temporarily leave this place and first organize the information obtained from Yunxi.

On the other side, Mori Ōgai was also lying awake all night.

After all, Mori Ōgai wasn’t very convinced that Yunxi could actually successfully infiltrate Nakahara Chuuya’s circle and obtain useful information about him.

But now.

If there’s a space-type ability user within [Sheep] who is well-protected by the King of Sheep and can transfer toxins, then the original plan is no longer feasible.

But was it really such a coincidence?

First, Yunxi blocked one of his paths, then immediately provided him with another approach using some King Cobra to deal with the King of Sheep?

Mori Ōgai chose to consult Dazai.

Dazai Osamu, forcibly subjected to Dazai also not sleeping: .

His injuries hadn’t fully healed yet, and if Mori-sensei kept this up, he would genuinely attempt another suicide dramatic enough to skip work for a month.

But in the end, Dazai Osamu just replied helplessly: Mori-sensei, are you paying Yunxi-kun based on the importance of the information he provides?

No answer, so that’s how it is. Then you must have considered the possibility that Yunxi-kun might exaggerate ordinary matters to get more payment, right?

Dazai Osamu lay on his tattered little bed and closed his eyes: So, that so-called ‘King Cobra’—could it be the symbol for calculus?

Mori Ōgai: ????

∫∞ like that?

It did look quite like a king cobra. He could even imagine the King of Sheep frantically asking Yunxi, What does this king cobra do?…

Is Yunxi insane?!
