Chapter 55: Chapter 55 (Including Extra Chapter 4 Thanks to Ningning’s Long Review) ^…

[Connecting to AI… AI is automatically scoring you now…

Congratulations, Player! The Savior role you portrayed has received an A-grade completeness rating and an S-grade excellence rating! Please continue your #@!& Error! Error!]

[Detected that the player has achieved the final accomplishment: Saving the World! Modifying completeness rating…]

[(Fireworks) (Fireworks) Congratulations on becoming the first player to achieve a double S accomplishment!]

There were many more similar congratulatory messages, but Yunxi paid no attention to them.

He skipped through them all, jumping directly to the end.

The second-to-last section of the game panel displayed: [Congratulations, Player! You now own this Holographic Pod! The game company’s ownership certificate for the Holographic Pod has been shipped via express delivery and is rushing to you… Please be informed!]

Yunxi: !

Yunxi’s mood finally improved. He wanted to laugh heartily at the sky but restrained himself, continuing to read further.

Yunxi was now completely satisfied.

He happily exited the Holographic Pod to experience long-missed life outside the game.

Might as well create an account in advance, so I can start doing social media directly once the confidentiality contract period ends…

Yunxi muttered to himself while tapping on his phone for quite a while. After finishing, he changed clothes and proactively went out.

Meanwhile, in Yokohama.

Nakahara Chuuya hadn’t even had time to attack Ueda Akinari before the opponent died on his own.

What’s going on?

Chuuya looked at Yunxi, who had stopped breathing and was beginning to turn into ashes and dissipate, then at Ueda Akinari who was turning into ashes even faster than Yunxi. His emotions were more turbulent than ever before.

Driven by his emotions, Chuuya raised his hand, wanting to attack the deity who seemed to have entered a second phase, to vent his fury.

Then, Chuuya discovered that despite its large size, the deity was actually just a paper tiger – a single casual attack from him completely dispersed it.

Chuuya was puzzled: This is…

Yunxi-kun’s Special ability was successfully used. Dazai Osamu’s expression was rarely this grim. With the crisis eliminated, Yunxi-kun could die.

All the preparations he had made, along with the backup weapons Yunxi had already used up, were completely unnecessary – everything had ended just like that.

He felt so nauseated, unbearably nauseated. This was truly the first time he had encountered such a nauseating fate – even more disgusting than his own life… He now completely understood why Yunxi had been acting that way before!

Dazai suddenly turned to look at the white-haired Clown who had remained silent despite Yunxi’s death.

The Clown removed the mask he had been wearing all along, half-kneeling beside Yunxi with no extra expression on his face.

Little Yunxi… the white-haired Clown murmured as he reached out and took the turquoise diamond earring that was cracking from the center from Yunxi’s body.

Almost immediately after, Yunxi’s body completely turned to ashes, while the Clown’s hand gained another piece of paper covered with writing that had been transferred from Fyodor.

Fukuzawa Yukichi: That is… the page from the Book that was kept by the Supernatural Affairs Division?

Before Fukuzawa could finish his sentence, the Clown wrapped himself in his cloak and directly disappeared from everyone’s sight.

Everyone present: !!!

Sigma, who had been in a daze, instantly snapped back to reality. He instinctively stepped forward and swiftly opened the portable special ability detector he had brought with him.

Nothing… there was nothing within the detection range. Gogol, along with all the items Yunxi had once carried that Sigma had marked, had vanished without a trace as if evaporated from the world.

It seemed he was alone again.

How could this be…

Sigma’s mind gradually went blank. Beside him, Nakahara Chuuya was irritably ordering Sigma to calm down, demanding to know if Yunxi could still revive under these circumstances. The others were frantically pondering everything that had just happened.

Among the crowd, only Fyodor blinked and murmured quietly, Ah, it seems Gogol-kun didn’t quite appreciate this kind of freedom.

The Clown who had always fought to lose himself and rebel against fate—could he actually want an anchor point?

How strange, utterly incomprehensible.

*

The Savior Yunxi was dead, witnessed by everyone present.

Afterwards, the people of Yokohama began cleaning up the aftermath; Fyodor was placed under strict surveillance by multiple factions simultaneously; members of the Nameless Organization returned to Europe, working even harder to clear Yunxi’s name while occasionally attempting to assassinate Fyodor; Sigma returned to the White Whale to continue managing the [Sky Casino], representing Yunxi in external negotiations.

But what about that Gogol whom Yunxi cared about most? Where had Gogol gone?

The world was indeed vast, but not enough for a non-Transcendent to completely disappear without any factions being able to locate him, right???

In reality, if these people had been truly involved in the matter and had some connections, they would have known that Gogol hadn’t actually vanished—it was just that the few who knew of his whereabouts would deliberately turn a blind eye to him.

After all, Yunxi had sacrificed himself to save the world—that was an undeniable fact. For them to benefit from Yunxi’s sacrifice and still target those close to him would simply be too cruel.

It was under these circumstances that Gogol embarked on a journey of self-exile.

He traveled around the world several times, seeing real white whales, majestic snow-capped mountains, auroras over small towns, and tropical forests—consciously avoiding all places associated with Yunxi throughout his travels. Yet in the end, he couldn’t resist visiting the territory of the Nameless Organization.

Gogol certainly had no intention of meeting anyone from the Nameless Organization. This time, he came solely to see the Imperial Ancestral Temple the organization had built for Yunxi.

The moment Gogol entered, he was stunned by the scene inside the temple.

So many people crying, so many offerings, so many AD Calcium Milk bottles…

Wait, why were there so many AD Calcium Milk bottles?

Gogol activated his special ability, transmitting the words of others present to his ears one by one.

Master Yunxi, though I never truly interacted with you, you were still young—you probably liked drinking this. I brought you plenty, drink as much as you want, you can even finish a whole carton at once…

Master, please rest in peace…

Feeling exasperated, Gogol switched to eavesdropping on someone else.

Master Yunxi, do you still remember us? We’re the wage slaves from North America. After you left, those capitalists started exploiting us again. Master, how are we supposed to live without you…

Gogol switched again to eavesdrop on someone who was on a phone call.

The other person seemed to be the capitalist type mentioned earlier, but what came out of their mouth was: Spread the word! Everyone! Grab your smartphones! Click report on all negative posts about Master Yunxi in the group chats!!!

Gogol switched again.

Gogol found this person’s crying too unpleasant to hear, so he switched once more.

Master Yunxi, I apologize for speaking against you earlier. I deserve to die. The person said this while slapping themselves hard across the face before continuing, But the Armed Detective Agency and those from Decay of the Angel are even more , damn I’ll eventually them all…

Gogol: .

Gogol didn’t want to listen to someone transmitting Morse code with their mouth, so he finally withdrew his special ability.

Gogol stared for a while at this statue that didn’t resemble Yunxi much, with no intention of stepping forward to pray or reminisce. He blinked silently and prepared to leave.

But just as Gogol raised his cloak, his [Overcoat] abruptly detected a strange stone tablet.

The tablet was hidden in the corner of the Imperial Ancestral Temple, blocked by other objects as if ashamed to see the light.

Out of curiosity, Gogol teleported himself in front of the stone tablet.

Then, Gogol read: From the beginning, I’ve liked you, four-leaf clover…?

Gogol instantly recalled the origin of this tablet. He subconsciously wanted to let out a sharp laugh, but the slight upward twitch of his lips was immediately suppressed.

Gogol expressionlessly pulled out his gun.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!!!

The stone tablet shattered. The members of the Nameless Organization guarding the Imperial Ancestral Temple rushed over upon hearing the noise, but Gogol had already departed.

All that remained were the Nameless Organization members wondering when this tablet had appeared here. Since it had nothing to do with Yunxi anyway, they simply hauled it away for disposal.

Having already visited the Imperial Ancestral Temple, Gogol no longer wanted to avoid matters related to Yunxi.

That same day, he boarded a plane headed for the [Sky Casino].

During the journey, he turned on his phone that had been powered off until now and connected to the internet.

For an incident with such widespread impact, various countries would certainly need to disclose some truth to the public. Currently, online accusations against Fukuchi Ochi were absolutely overwhelming, while those against the Armed Detective Agency had noticeably decreased.

As for Yunxi… there were indeed people dissatisfied with Yunxi, but anyone daring to criticize him would get instantly silenced upon appearing, leaving basically no room for opposition.

After scrolling briefly, Gogol found that comments under posts about Yunxi were all replies like: [Yunxi was only worried we might encounter danger. He died for justice – what did he do wrong?], [My boss will take full responsibility for all illegal activities Yunxi committed! If that’s not enough, I have four bosses total!], and [I know you’re referring to the dates when those incidents allegedly masterminded by Yunxi occurred, but Yunxi was playing games at my house during those days. Meanwhile, my husband was mysteriously absent.]

This time, Gogol’s lips gradually curved upward.

Little Yunxi always loved these fake alibis that could help exonerate him… Gogol’s voice grew progressively softer until it faded away completely.

Because of his identity as the Savior, Yunxi had lived such an unfree life.

And all of this was only because of… that page from the Book he possessed.

As the plane began to slow its speed, Gogol put away his phone and quickly readjusted his state of mind.

Well, let’s meet Sigma-kun first!

When Sigma first heard that Gogol was coming to see him, he was quite excited. But the moment he laid eyes on Gogol, Sigma’s expression turned peculiarly strange.

Sigma hesitated, words caught in his throat: You…

Gogol didn’t see any problem with himself at all. He asked Sigma with a beaming smile: Sigma-kun, how has the [Sky Casino] been doing lately?

Cautious yet honest, Sigma replied: The [Sky Casino] has been doing fairly well recently. Many factions have been eyeing it, but as long as we maintain balance, they won’t cause any losses to the casino.

Gogol quickly got to the main point: What about the White Whale…

Sigma’s body tensed up, but he still spoke the truth in one breath: The White Whale hasn’t returned to Mr. Hermann, but its connection with Yunxi has been severed too. The White Whale is free now – it chose to stay here voluntarily for Mr. Hermann and me.

Gogol suddenly found himself at a loss for words.

Sigma asked carefully: Gogol-kun? Gogol-kun? Would you like to stay here a while longer? Consider it relaxing at the [Sky Casino]…

Sigma-kun. Gogol suddenly interrupted.

Then, he directly took out that page from the Book that had been coveted by various factions recently, saying: The Clown has been remembering some things lately.

Sigma tried hard not to let his eyes wander to the content on the page: What things?

Gogol said cheerfully: Long, long ago – so long ago that little Yunxi hadn’t even appeared in Yokohama yet, when the Clown was still in a Russian circus – little Yunxi had already met the Clown!

Back then, the Clown wanted to ask little Yunxi’s name, but little Yunxi used his special ability to take away that part of the memory. However, after little Yunxi left, this memory inexplicably returned to the Clown’s head…

Sigma wanted to say that Gogol’s story sounded like he had finally gone mad.

After Yunxi left, Sigma had indeed often fantasized that Yunxi wasn’t really dead, that he had just accidentally fallen victim to a mental-type Esper’s ability.

Perhaps one day, after a good sleep, he would open his eyes to find Yunxi smiling before him, saying: How pathetic, Sigma. I told you to be careful, yet you still got hit by a mental-type Esper’s ability?

Then Sigma would retort: Is that my fault? How exactly are you supposed to defend against mental-type Espers?!

But as he listened, Sigma began to realize something was off: You’re saying that Yunxi back then wore a single earring? And had a special ability?

If this was just a fantasy Gogol created for himself, there wouldn’t be two such major inconsistencies, right?

Mhm. Gogol gave an affirmative reply. That’s exactly right.

Sigma began pondering deeply: So, are you trying to say that for Yunxi, time can move backwards?

But what’s the significance of this information? The guy who killed Yunxi could also reverse time – his attack on Yunxi wouldn’t have left this escape route for him…

Sigma’s voice gradually faded as he realized what he had said, eventually falling silent.

Fortunately, Gogol didn’t do anything to Sigma. He just suddenly looked extremely grim: But this is exactly why little Yunxi can never, ever obtain freedom.

He finally revealed the contents of that book page before Sigma: Although the Clown of the past had forgotten little Yunxi, it was later the Clown who asked Fyodor-kun to add [The Savior is born, thus the story begins] at the beginning of the tale.

Who would have thought Fyodor-kun actually adopted the Clown’s suggestion? Thus little Yunxi came into existence and followed the path written on this page, until little Yunxi’s death brought the world temporary peace and permanent freedom.

As Gogol spoke, he rubbed his thumb forcefully over the final sentence on the page [The world’s crisis is resolved, humanity has achieved peace.], while his eyes remained fixed on the slightly crooked dagger that Sigma had carefully preserved – the very one Sigma received during his first meeting with Yunxi:

How cruel, don’t you think so, Sigma-kun?

Sigma desperately wanted to ask whether the cruel person Gogol referred to was Fyodor, this world, or perhaps Gogol himself.

But looking at Gogol who was smiling at him – a smile even more artificial than before, a smile that promised the dagger would be plunged into him the moment Sigma dared say no – Sigma ultimately only cautiously replied:

I think, Gogol-kun, you could try writing contradictory content on the back of the page to nullify its effects.

Although everything had ended, there was no denying that Gogol could treat this as a form of psychological comfort.

Gogol’s tone returned to lightness: The Clown thought the same! This world never needed any self-sacrificing Savior to begin with!

Sigma-kun, the Clown might be unconscious for a while, so I’ll be counting on you during that time!

Three days passed. Under Sigma’s nervous gaze, Gogol handed over the book page ending with [This world has no Savior.], then left with an expression so cold it completely unlike the Clown.

Then, Gogol returned to Russia.

He found the spot where the first turquoise diamond earring had been burned, estimated the direction, and located the place where he had buried the wooden bird long ago.

Activating his special ability, Gogol directly transported what was beneath to the surface.

But contrary to his expectations, what appeared in his hand wasn’t some corroded wooden bird, but a titanium alloy bird with gold and silver eyes, studded with numerous decorations like some vulgar nouveau riche, giving it distinct Middle Eastern tycoon aesthetics.

The Clown can almost imagine how little Yunxi made this bird. After a moment of silence, Gogol said, So, not only did little Yunxi know the Clown buried the bird here, but he had already visited this place long ago?

Then why didn’t little Yunxi tell the Clown…

…Eh?

Gogol slightly widened his eyes.

He raised his hand and touched his cheek, feeling the moisture soaking through his glove.

How strange – little Yunxi had already gained freedom, he should be happy for little Yunxi…

So.

Why was he crying now?
