Chapter 5: What Exactly Is This Grudge?
No matter what, Nakahara Chuuya felt this Boss didn’t deserve to die.
He wanted to step in and stop the black-haired boy, but after the Boss passed out, the boy’s expression instantly turned bored. Not only did he release his grip, but he outright tossed the Boss aside.
The black-haired boy: “Let’s go. I already told you—I’m the Savior. A Savior doesn’t kill over such trivial conflicts.”
Nakahara Chuuya: “Oh… okay.”
Before Chuuya could wallow in guilt over misunderstanding him for long, he saw the black-haired boy swivel around and open the refrigerator:
“But non-human things still need to be dealt with… Hmm, there are five eggs here. Not sure if they’re fertilized—too risky. Anyway, let’s beat them and make fried rice.”
Nakahara Chuuya: “You just want to eat the eggs yourself!!!”
In the end, though, Chuuya’s resolve crumbled under the tempting aroma of food. He ended up sharing a plate of egg fried rice—made with all five eggs—with the black-haired boy before they finally left the stranger’s home.
What followed left Nakahara Chuuya even more bewildered.
He watched as the black-haired boy casually drifted from place to place, taking on odd jobs while also engaging in petty theft.
Chuuya tried to stop him, only to receive this reply: “Yeah, what’s the situation? The situation is what it is. How about I split 1,000 yen with you—would that work?”
Nakahara Chuuya: ……
Nakahara Chuuya: “Who wants your money!!!”
Even though he hadn’t taken the boy’s claims seriously before, how could someone who spent his days sneaking around like this have the nerve to call himself the Savior?!
The black-haired boy seemed faintly pleased. He turned and walked away.
Nakahara Chuuya hurried after him: “So, what are you planning to do next?”
They’d been at this for so long—surely it was time to get to the main event?!
The black-haired boy: “Hmm… There’s someone in Yokohama who did something really awful to me. So every day, I pick a random time to go to his place and try to catch him there. That way, I can get my revenge.”
“Here, he lives in this building.” The black-haired boy stopped at the foot of an apartment block. “I’m going up.”
Nakahara Chuuya: ?
When Chuuya saw the boy start scaling the building’s exterior with his bare hands: ???
Couldn’t he just use the front door?! Did he really have to visit his enemy’s home in such an embarrassing way?!
A horrified Chuuya used his gravity ability to follow. As his fingers touched Yunxi, he extended his gravity control to include the other boy.
“Which floor?” Chuuya’s voice was practically gritted out.
Hurry up! He didn’t want to keep doing something this humiliating!
Yunxi had no intention of being cryptic. Soon, Chuuya carried them both to their destination.
“The top floor? But this unit looks empty, doesn’t it?”
Chuuya frowned at the barren balcony, devoid of any signs of human habitation.
In the brief moment Chuuya was speaking, the black-haired boy had already broken free of his hold.
The boy deftly slipped over the balcony railing, picked the lock on the balcony door in a few quick moves, drew a gun, and burst inside.
“Tch. No one’s here after all.” The black-haired boy sighed regretfully.
Nakahara Chuuya: ?
Someone actually wants to kill you?!
The black-haired boy quickly composed himself: Forget it, it doesn’t matter. He’ll always come back eventually. I applied some poison to his cup today – not sure if it’ll work. Anyway, I’ll come back at a different time tomorrow.
Nakahara Chuuya: …
Just what kind of grudge is this?!
Before leaving, the black-haired boy meticulously wiped away both his and Nakahara Chuuya’s footprints from the room while restoring everything to its original position.
This time, after glancing at the height from the balcony, the black-haired boy directly grabbed Nakahara Chuuya’s hand: Chuya, can you use your gravity ability again? Please! I only have one last thing to do!
Nakahara Chuuya wasn’t particularly eager to continue, but he worried about missing important information about this strange boy before him.
So Nakahara Chuuya activated his gravity ability with a sour expression.
The two figures on the top-floor balcony suddenly rose into the air, but remained hovering in place since Nakahara Chuuya didn’t know Yunxi’s exact destination.
Nakahara Chuuya: Where’s your final destination… Wait, you’re even wiping the footprints on the balcony?!
The suspended black-haired boy was already wiping the footprints directly below Nakahara Chuuya, his tone determined: I need to come back here again.
It wouldn’t be good to get caught.
Nakahara Chuuya: Then before this…
Yunxi declared confidently: Of course I wiped them before too, though I had to hang outside to do it. Thanks, Chuya – having gravity ability makes this so much more convenient.
Nakahara Chuuya: …
So whether he was here or not, Yunxi was determined to do these ridiculous things anyway?!
Unbelievable!
Nakahara Chuuya endured an excruciating three minutes waiting for Yunxi to finish wiping the footprints.
Only when Yunxi said Done did Nakahara Chuuya reactivate his ability, transporting them both to Yunxi’s final destination.
It was a small clinic.
Nakahara Chuuya watched as the black-haired boy beside him showed an unprecedented seriousness.
If Nakahara Chuuya had to describe it, he might say the other finally looked somewhat like the so-called Savior.
In this solemn atmosphere, the black-haired boy produced grenades, handguns, daggers, long swords…
Then he took out several new rolls of bandages, disinfectant alcohol, trauma medication…
Finally, the black-haired boy equipped all the weapons on himself and handed all the medical supplies to Nakahara Chuuya.
The black-haired boy said gravely: Chuya, I’ll be counting on you later.
Nakahara Chuuya: Wait…
The black-haired boy had already charged out.
The black-haired boy encountered his first enemy.
The exchange of fire between the black-haired boy and his first opponent was like a turning point in World War II – the previously calm clinic suddenly revealed numerous mafia members who had been lying in ambush.
Nakahara Chuuya: !
With this level of equipment and number of mafia… What kind of trouble has Yunxi gotten himself into?
Nakahara Chuuya was still debating whether to join the fight, as his participation could easily be seen as the Sheep challenging those mafia organizations.
But in the brief moment Nakahara Chuuya hesitated, Yunxi – having barely reached the clinic entrance – returned covered in wounds, his entire 100-slot backpack filled with goods obtained by using Nimble Hands on the mafia members.
The mafias also chose to withdraw after Yunxi had run some distance away, beginning to clean up the battlefield and carry away their severely injured comrades.
It was as if nothing had just happened.
If not for the fact that the gunfire had been real and the injuries on both sides were genuine, Nakahara Chuuya would have thought these mafias and Yunxi were staging a fake fight.
So, why was it like this?
Chuuya’s brain simply couldn’t process it.
Not bad, not bad, I’ve improved again. In a couple more days, I might be able to charge right in. When that time comes, I’ll definitely steal even more stuff…
After muttering to himself for a while, Yunxi noticed Chuuya hadn’t moved and urged him, Chuuya, Chuuya, my arm’s a bit hard to lift. Help me bandage it up, use the medicine from the bottle with the orange label—that one heals fast.
Chuuya: …
So, had the other anticipated this scenario all along?
How did he manage to treat the mafias like grinding mobs?!
Reluctantly, Chuuya bandaged Yunxi’s wounds and prepared to take him back.
Yunxi was clearly in high spirits at the moment; even his slowly draining health couldn’t dampen his mood: Chuuya, Chuuya, will you come out with me again tomorrow?
Chuuya wasn’t very keen on agreeing, but after the day’s events, he found himself even more unable to comprehend the black-haired youth’s thought process.
Chuuya worried that if he took his eyes off Yunxi for even a moment, the latter might stir up major trouble in Yokohama or get himself killed.
Other concerns temporarily escaped him, but he could deal with them if Yunxi actually did something…
Wait.
Chuuya forcibly grabbed Yunxi’s arm: Where are you going?
This wasn’t the direction to the Sheep’s base, was it?
I’m obviously heading home, what’s the problem… Yunxi’s expression gradually shifted to one of horror. Does joining the Sheep mean you’re forced to sleep in a communal dorm?!
The two of them, mutually misunderstanding, stared at each other for a long while.
As he watched, Chuuya’s expression inevitably grew somewhat suspicious: The Sheep doesn’t have such a rule, but… you’re going back… home?
Based on the information he’d gathered, hadn’t the other only recently arrived in Yokohama?
Chuuya didn’t doubt the accuracy of this information, either. After all, from what he understood of Yunxi, the youth’s personality was utterly bizarre. Someone like that couldn’t stay in one place for long without drawing attention.
Since everyone else claimed they’d never heard of Yunxi before, it was likely Yunxi had come from outside Yokohama.
So…
While Chuuya was still racking his brains, Yunxi, upon learning the Sheep had no such rule, immediately turned and hurried off in a direction away from downtown Yokohama.
Gritting his teeth, Chuuya followed.
Today, he was determined to learn more about Yunxi!
Ten minutes later, Chuuya saw the abandoned factory where Yunxi lived, along with a mat placed right inside the entrance—clearly Yunxi’s sleeping spot.
Everything in the abandoned factory had been cleared out. The left side was barely intact, while the right side was littered with debris, likely left behind after mafia fights, with every step kicking up clouds of dust.
Chuuya: You’ve been living… here?
Can people actually live in a place like this? Forget the environment where a single breath feels like inhaling two pounds of dust—just the missing windows and broken walls of the factory… Isn’t Yunxi worried about being killed in his sleep?
Yunxi: Of course I don’t sleep over there.
Nakahara Chuuya felt slightly relieved.
Yunxi carefully moved the mat from the relatively clean left side to the right side with its collapsed walls and debris, making sure the upper part of the mat didn’t gather too much dust.
I sleep here, of course. This spot makes it easier to hide and counterattack if we’re attacked at night, better protecting my life, health, and property.
Look, Chuuya, this collapsed cement wall here works perfectly as a natural bunker. If someone shows up, I can just roll over, hide underneath, and set up my gun…
Nakahara Chuuya thought Yunxi made some sense.
But the strange expression on his face earlier wasn’t because those things looked like thorns.
He just couldn’t understand: So, if things are this bad, why on earth won’t you just sleep at the Sheep’s base?!
