Chapter 47 (Including 14.6k Nutrient Solution Bonus) ^…

Little Gogol only hesitated for a brief moment.

The next second, he dodged the officers’ hands and rushed into the sea of flames without hesitation.

Behind Little Gogol, his white braids tinged with a faint orange hue from the firelight lifted in a graceful arc before quickly falling back down.

Danger! Don’t go over there!

Boom! The flames erupted with renewed intensity!

Watch out! The fire’s getting stronger!

The officers had long realized this fire was unusual, so no matter how anxious they were, they only dared to surround Yunxi, staying within the safety zone he created for himself. While attempting to extinguish the flames, they remained vigilant against Yunxi’s counterattacks.

Yunxi did counterattack, and each time he killed someone—but he killed the wrong people every time, taking out members of the circus troupe.

In just three minutes, Yunxi had slaughtered the entire circus troupe.

Corpses lay scattered across the ground, each with eyes wide open in death.

The officers, who had been toyed with by Yunxi yet only had slightly dirtied clothes: .

This is way too suspicious?!

As the officers grew increasingly wary, Yunxi grew progressively weaker.

Between some unknown virus and his life points plummeting from OOC, Yunxi was truly nearing death this time.

Yunxi’s gun had also run out of bullets. After fiddling with it and finding it useless, he couldn’t be bothered to reload. Instead, he switched to a dagger he’d acquired from somewhere earlier.

He stood weakly in place, stabbing wildly with the dagger whenever an officer approached while shouting: Back! Back! Back!

It was utterly absurd and comical, but fortunately those people feared Yunxi might have more tricks up his sleeve. Warned like this, they actually stayed put.

Both sides were locked in a stalemate when Little Gogol returned at that very moment.

With his two little birds.

The wooden bird nestled in his arms, Little White Bird tucked in his pocket—only the very tops of their heads visible.

Little Gogol cheerfully dashed toward Yunxi: Ringmaster!

Yunxi, who thought he was about to successfully palm Little Gogol off to the officers: .

Really unbelievable.

The blade pierced skin.

Drip.Blood burst from the tip of the dagger before obeying gravity and falling.

Yunxi stared blankly at Little Gogol—who had used his special ability to dash over and consequently received a slash across his left eye from Yunxi—his hand trembling involuntarily.

Seeing Little Gogol unable to open one eye yet still trying to throw himself into his embrace as if completely numb to the pain, Yunxi grew frantic again.

Did Little Gogol have to be clingy at the worst possible times?!

Looking at his life points—only 3 remaining, unsure if they’d last three seconds—Yunxi hardened his heart, shut his eyes, and kicked Little Gogol away outright.

Little Gogol: Mmph!

Little White Bird was flung to the ground, startled into fluttering upward, while Little Gogol slid far away before being caught by a burly officer who held him protectively in his arms.

Yunxi was satisfied.

With his burning special ability fully unleashed, flames surged around Yunxi, consuming everything nearby—and himself along with them.

In the final second before his life points rapidly dropped to zero, Yunxi stretched his hand out toward Little Gogol’s direction.

Choosing to redeem this option naturally stemmed from players’ hope that if the game had a sequel, Little Gogol wouldn’t be interrogated about his true relationship with them.

Such an obedient Little Gogol—players would never be satisfied if they couldn’t take his memories out of the game to savor repeatedly after it ended!

From Yunxi’s perspective, Little Gogol’s expression momentarily turned dazed.

Then, the wooden bird in Little Gogol’s arms fell to the ground, rolling some distance away. A small part of its wing got scorched black by the flames before a kind police officer rushed forward to pick it up, carrying it along as they quickly retreated.

Yunxi could only faintly hear shouts like The circus master won’t survive! Retreat first! Take this child back for treatment!, The injury is in the eye! Get the Esper ready!and similar commands.

Yunxi felt completely relieved.

As his health points hit zero, Yunxi—who couldn’t resurrect under the circus master identity—saw his screen turn black.

Immediately after, a game pop-up appeared.

[(Fireworks)(Fireworks) Congratulations player! You have completed The Circusgameplay! Achieved special ending: Sins in the Flames!]

Ah… it’s over now.

Though he’d expected it, he still felt somewhat sad…

Yunxi had only been dejected for a brief moment when another game pop-up appeared.

[Connecting to AI… AI is automatically scoring your performance…

Congratulations player! Your portrayal of the Circus Master received a B-grade in completeness and S-grade in brilliance! Please continue your efforts…]

Yunxi instantly performed an emotional U-turn: Huh? My performance wasn’t complete enough? Didn’t you see how none of the NPCs in the game doubted my identity???

The game panel seemed to freeze momentarily.

Perhaps because it was connected to AI, it actually responded to Yunxi’s dissatisfaction:

[Detected player dissatisfaction with scoring results. Would you like to view the key points that caused point deduction: The subsequent development of The Circusworld?]

Yunxi: ?

What problems could possibly emerge afterward? Hadn’t he handled everything properly?

Watch! Of course I’ll watch!Yunxi pressed [Confirm]. Let me see what justification you can come up with!

The game system played it—though it was an edited, condensed version.

Yunxi saw how the school he’d previously donated large sums of money to build for Little Gogol’s future—funded through generous donors—had temporarily suspended construction due to the player’s death cutting off the funding source. When police discovered this discrepancy, they immediately traced the circus’s missing funds, and Yunxi gave an awkward first laugh.

Yunxi saw police uncover the circus members’ gloriously criminal records, and gave an awkward second laugh.

Yunxi saw how police, refusing to believe the obvious, investigated the player—only to dig up from the burial groundthe player had mentioned: 25% of edible livestock bones with Little Gogol’s tooth marks, 50% with circus carnivores’ tooth marks, 10% with the circus master’s tooth marks, and 15% with other circus members’ tooth marks. One officer even remarked, The master ate less than anyone except Gogol, though that’s counting everyone combined, prompting Yunxi’s awkward third laugh.

Yunxi saw police realize that what Little Gogol had been carrying was a Little White Bird with barely an ounce of meat—something Little Gogol neither could nor needed to be persuaded by the circus master to roast and eat—and gave an awkward fourth laugh.

Yunxi saw an even more powerful Esper arriving. The other used their Special ability and discovered that although the player had been infected by a mysterious virus during the final battle, the player was a Transcendent. Even weakened, they could easily sweep through the entire city, and their eventual death was completely intentional—awkward laugh number five.

Yunxi watched as this Esper also found out that the player never actually slaughtered the village. The player had admitted to the killings only to take the blame for Little Gogol. She also discovered that the villagers were far from good people; if Little Gogol had acted earlier, it could barely count as self-defense. Given Gogol’s young age, there wouldn’t even be a record—just a short detention—awkward laugh number six.

Yunxi then saw this Esper find out that the wooden bird in Little Gogol’s arms was carved by the player after cutting down a large patch of birch trees. She thought that if the player truly disliked Little Gogol, there would be no need to do such a thing—awkward laugh number seven.

Later, there was a whole series of discoveries: today, the Esper found the player had left firearms for Gogol; tomorrow, she realized the song Gogol absentmindedly sang was actually a lullaby the player used to sing to him; the day after, she discovered yet again that Gogol’s mental state was quite complex, but if he had stayed with the player, he might have recovered much sooner. The officers were being a bit too meddlesome…

Yunxi felt overwhelmed and restless: Haha, this Esper is quite impressive. Could she be a Transcendent from Russia?

She must have a lot of free time, bothering with such trivial matters?

Seeing that there seemed to be more, Yunxi simply spoke up again, interrupting the game system’s process: Can you stop showing me this? Show me something else?

The game system obediently changed the content.

This time, it showed the player the future of the NPC closest to them—Little Gogol.

Little Gogol had indeed forgotten about Yunxi, but he still had some memories of the circus he once belonged to and the night they retreated from the great fire.

Most of the officers who took Little Gogol away were good people with a simple sense of justice. Over time, they learned that Little Gogol had killed an entire village, but they also understood why he did it, why the circus master took the blame, and why the circus master killed the others in the troupe.

To ensure the circus master’s sacrifice wasn’t in vain, they chose to lie and pretend ignorance.

Thus, they stubbornly maintained the conclusion that the deceased circus master killed the entire villageand the circus master died from a strange virus, which the brave Little Gogol counteracted using a chicken leg from his beloved chicken, with Little Gogol and his free-range chicken risking themselves to protect others. They even secretly fabricated some evidence.

In the end, these officers arranged a legal identity for Little Gogol and released him after his eye injury healed.

As they sent him off, one officer reminded him: Money, a map, and your ID are in your pocket. You can go directly to the school circled in red on the map. Show your ID, and the principal will enroll you out of respect for… the sponsor. If you run into trouble, contact us again… and don’t go back to those illegal places. Live a good life! Understand?

Little Gogol nodded.

Yunxi: !

Not bad! The players really liked this ending!

Next, Little Gogol should go to school, right? After all, I’ve told him many times how important studying is… Uh.

Little Gogol did not go to school.

He returned to the burned-down site of the circus, recalling what the officers had said: Your Little White Bird got frightened and flew away. The situation was too chaotic at the time, and we didn’t have time to catch it.He found the spot where Little White Bird had left.

Little Gogol picked up a feather that had only been slightly singed in the massive fire that engulfed the entire circus.

Yunxi also remembered this feather.

This feather had been preserved because Yunxi intentionally controlled the flames to avoid it. At the time, Yunxi was near death and, in his daze, caught a glimpse of white, mistaking it for Little White Bird returning. Afraid that Little Gogol would be heartbroken, he withdrew his burning ability from that area.

Unexpectedly, it was just a long tail feather from Little White Bird.

Still, it must be said, that tail feather looked quite beautiful back then. But recently, there had been several light rains in the area. The feather had been repeatedly soaked by the rain and stained by mud, leaving it in a particularly wretched state.

Little Gogol didn’t mind, though. He blew the dust off the feather and gazed at it under the sunlight for a long time.

Little Gogol knew that birds, as creatures, don’t remember things well. So, it was highly likely that the bird, like him, had forgotten many things and was now freely flying in the wild.

This was normal. Birds never grieve over the collapse of the tree they once perched on; their nature only urges them to quickly find the next safe tree.

Somewhat heartless, but it would be laughable to discuss emotions with a bird.

So, Little Gogol expressed no dissatisfaction. He just murmured to himself, How wonderful. I wish I could be as free as you.

With these words, Little Gogol quietly let go of the feather, allowing the wind to carry it away. But because of the stubborn mud that couldn’t be cleaned off, it plunged back into the Earth.

Next, Little Gogol buried the wooden bird—which he couldn’t understand why his past self had valued so much—right there, and then resumed his life of wandering.

A long time later, Little Gogol grew into the young man Gogol.

He chose to ignore that missing piece of memory and dressed himself as the Clown the circus had wanted him to become when he first joined.

Only once, when someone asked him about a nickname, Gogol instinctively replied, Korya.

The person who struck up a conversation with the young Gogol was Fyodor. He told Gogol that he was resisting the gods, fighting to lose himself, which won Gogol’s favor.

However, Gogol refuted the idea that gods exist in the world. He believed there was only a Savior, but the Savior would not love humanity.

Fyodor did not argue.

Gogol began to regard Fyodor as his closest friend.

As close friends, a certain degree of offensivebehavior was perfectly normal and reasonable.

So, when Fyodor was once trying to compose a story that could fulfill his ideals, Gogol suddenly appeared and, as a co-conspirator, proposed adding at the beginning of the story:

[The Savior is born, and thus the story begins.]

Fyodor asked in confusion, Do you truly believe there is a Savior in this world?

Gogol replied with a grin, Hmm… who knows? The Clown is curious too!

After waiting for a long time only to get this response, Yunxi exclaimed, …Huh?

Damn AI, you dare mess with me?

Although the later information was somewhat novel, was Little Gogol’s overall development any different from Korya’s in the official game?

Did this game system even design a second route?!

Players worked so hard in The Circusonly to have their Identity Card torn up immediately—wasn’t it all to send the Clown into normal society? Yet you still let the Clown wander—are you even human?!

Perhaps because the AI truly wasn’t human, no matter how much Yunxi ranted, he couldn’t get the result he wanted.

The AI had reverted to an artificial idiot that only knew how to apologize and make empty promises.

Yunxi: …

Yunxi finally gave up and decided to return to the main game, The Sims: Yokohama.

Thankfully my Savior Identity Card doesn’t have so many restrictions, and the game doesn’t threaten to tear up my card whenever I go OOC. Otherwise, I’d be furious enough to quit mid-game…

Yunxi muttered to himself as he started the game.

He had set the world’s time so that no matter how long he was away, only 8 hours would pass—just enough for his body to get a full night’s sleep.

Wait! Why wasn’t it a brand new day, but rather Gogol’s brand new knife?!

In Yunxi’s field of vision, a frenzied Gogol was waving a knife back and forth at him while muttering to himself:

Little Yunxi was lying to the Clown after all, wasn’t he? Little Yunxi must have already found the freedom the Clown seeks…

Yunxi’s eyes widened involuntarily. Then, under Gogol’s intensely threatening gaze, he shouted: The world is upside down!

Gogol’s expression instantly cleared: …Huh?

Seizing the momentum, Yunxi continued: Yes! The current Savior hasn’t had time to save the world yet! The Savior might owe the whole world an apology, but when has the Savior ever wronged you? Korya, search your conscience and speak!

Gogol: ???

Yunxi: Don’t forget—you owe the Savior multiple lives! The Savior is being merciful by not making you be his ground-pecking chicken! How dare you point a knife at the great Savior?!

Gogol’s expression grew increasingly bewildered.

Seeing that his rhetoric was working, Yunxi took advantage of Gogol’s distraction to snatch the knife from his hand and immediately threw away this type of weapon he didn’t want to see again anytime soon.

Then, [Scales of Fate] activated. Using two strands of White Tiger Fur and one [Brain Hell] as payment, Yunxi successfully created a delicate balance between his items and Gogol’s [Overcoat].

The [Scales of Fate] took unusually long to determine a result, and without his Special ability available, Gogol genuinely behaved this time.

Yunxi sat triumphantly astride Gogol, and after briefly basking in his victory, he began studying Gogol’s left eye again.

Yunxi gently traced the scar, thinking of Little Gogol running toward him with a wooden bird while blood streamed down his face. Tears began pattering down in Yunxi’s heart again.

His voice muffled, Yunxi asked: Did it hurt?

Just as Gogol was growing uncomfortable from Yunxi’s question, he witnessed Yunxi perform another dramatic mood shift worthy of Sichuan opera.

Yunxi expressionlessly reached out, hooking the decorative bead chain around Gogol’s neck with his fingertip, then unceremoniously yanked hard, pulling Gogol directly toward him:

By the way, Korya, explain this to me—earlier when you were in front of Fyodor, you said you were fighting against something? No gods exist, so you’re rebelling against the Savior, is that it? Speak!

Gogol: !

Yunxi, a trainee at an entertainment company and aspiring idol.

One day, a mini-game titled Idol Training: Yokohamasuddenly appeared on his phone.

Yunxi decided to give it a try.

Short on items at the start? Just steal some—no need to uphold idol virtue in a game.

[Alert! You were caught stealing! If witnesses spread this, it could harm your career. You decide to…]

Tch, getting threatened over such a trivial matter—how annoying. Choose [Eliminate the witness].

Gogol, who accidentally witnessed a young idol stealing and now has a blade at his throat: ???

After handling the future PR crisis, Yunxi was privately invited to join the local mafia organization.

With rising popularity and enhanced stats, Yunxi worked by day and eliminated threats by night, thoroughly enjoying himself.

Then, a very earnest Russian information broker approached Yunxi again.

Eager to experience a scandalin the game, Yunxi excitedly controlled his avatar to remove his clothes: [Is this the price?]

Fyodor: ??!!

Fyodor rejected Yunxi but left the information, saying the price would be discussed later.

Some time after, Fyodor sent Gogol, who shares a similar performative personality.

Yunxi: [Oh, it’s you this time? Fine, but you’d better hurry…]

Gogol: ???

Gogol: !!!

Gradually, Yunxi became the first traffic idol to dominate the entertainment industry with an absolute blackened-redreputation.

After confirming that the average favorability toward him in this world exceeded 70, Yunxi revealed a wicked smile:

You like me, right? Then I’ll start causing trouble now!

Fans: You mean you hadn’t started until now?
