Chapter 46 (Including 14k Nutrient Solution Bonus Update) …

Without wasting much time, the three quickly arrived at the best spot to watch the spectacle.

Shibusawa Tatsuhiko spoke with an arrogant tone, but his attitude was unexpectedly cooperative. He showed Yunxi a small ball of light in his hand: This is a special ability with foresight and guidance. The location it predicted is right here.

Yunxi leaned in to study it, finally concluding: I don’t see anything special about it. It just confirms that Yokohama residents really love abandoned buildings.

Gogol chuckled softly before quickly asking: But isn’t it too boring just watching like this? Little Yunxi, have you decided how you want to play later?

Yunxi: Of course I have! I’ve come up with two whole plans!

Yunxi raised one finger: The first method – you, Gogol, make an appearance and create a corridor where they can never reach each other. Let them keep running toward one another but destined never to meet…

Gogol: Haha, sounds torturous, but not particularly interesting!

Yunxi nodded in agreement, then raised a second finger: The second method – we tie them up separately and tell them that if they commit suicide now, they can save the other person. When the game ends, if anyone survives, I’ll appear and finish off the survivor with one strike, telling them that such filthy creatures don’t deserve to live!

Shibusawa Tatsuhiko commented: The beginning sounds somewhat interesting, but the latter part becomes as dull as the first option.

Yunxi: ?

Though the reactions were identical, the biased Yunxi expressed strong dissatisfaction with Shibusawa’s response: How is it boring? This is how it’s been all these years…

Shh. Shibusawa signaled Yunxi to be quiet. They’re here.

Yunxi cooperatively fell silent.

Shibusawa began observing the situation below: It seems the Port Mafia and Armed Detective Agency want their respective leaders to settle this themselves. As expected, these people are more boring than I imagined…

Shibusawa’s voice trailed off.

Because he had spotted a calico cat that had appeared there at some unknown time.

Alerted by instinct, Shibusawa turned his head at the fastest speed, but Yunxi was clearly quicker.

No bystanders shall escape! Since you’ve chosen to participate, offer all your fur to the Savior as a gift celebrating their return to Yokohama!

Natsume Soseki, who had transformed into human form to stop his two disciples’ fight but ended up bald: …?

Fukuzawa Yukichi was too shocked to speak, while Mori Ōgai hesitantly uttered: Natsume… sensei?

Natsume Soseki: .

What was he hesitating about?

He couldn’t possibly be mistaking him for Taneda Santoka!!!

Meanwhile, up high, Shibusawa Tatsuhiko kept opening and closing his eyes repeatedly.

To be honest, Shibusawa was quite relieved that Natsume Soseki had transformed back into human form in time.

Although the bald head was quite distracting, and the other’s body left Shibusawa speechless just imagining it… it was still a hundred times better than the hairless cat form!

Thinking this, Shibusawa’s expression relaxed even more when he saw Natsume Soseki’s hair return.

Thank goodness, Yunxi isn’t that powerful yet…

Yunxi suddenly leaned closer.

Contrary to Shibusawa Tatsuhiko’s expectations, Yunxi’s tone showed no trace of disappointment: Shibusawa-kun, did you know? I actually have very good luck. If you don’t believe me, I can show you.

Shibusawa Tatsuhiko: ?

Yunxi took Shibusawa’s silence as agreement.

So he reactivated his special ability and exchanged for one-third of the fur: Look, this is when the calico cat has no white fur.

Natsume Soseki’s white hair disappeared.

Yunxi selected two-thirds of the fur: This is when the calico cat has no orange and white fur.

Yunxi: This is when the calico cat has a bald spot, this is when the calico cat…

Yunxi maintained a frequency of using his special ability every 3 seconds, but for the last time, he waited 10 seconds before using it.

This time, the fur on Natsume Soseki’s head remained completely untouched – he lost the fur on his arms instead.

Watching the three people below becoming frantic from being unable to discern the pattern, Yunxi whispered proudly: This is when the calico cat has FeSO4!

Gogol interjected: Does that mean ‘unbelievable’?

Yunxi gave a thumbs up: Yes!

Shibusawa-kun, you believe me now, right? Yunxi said. My special ability can’t possibly target with this level of precision – this is completely thanks to my good luck!

Shibusawa Tatsuhiko watched the three people below starting to cooperate in searching for Yunxi. After a long pause, he barely managed to squeeze out one word from his throat: Hmm.

Forget whether Yunxi actually had good luck or not – just the developments below had already exceeded his initial expectations.

Being with Yunxi not only made the world more novel, but it also made other aspects equally… calculable.

Ten minutes passed, and Yunxi finally successfully used the [Scales of Fate] 9 times, exchanging for 3,294 cat hairs!

Just as the three people below were about to find the three above them, Gogol – not wanting complications – wrapped Yunxi in his cloak and directly fled.

Shibusawa Tatsuhiko activated his special ability and escaped too.

Shibusawa wasn’t afraid of being discovered; he just felt embarrassed.

To avoid further embarrassment, Shibusawa even chose to run in the opposite direction from Gogol and Yunxi.

The escape went very smoothly, except that halfway through his run, Shibusawa encountered Fyodor, who was somehow there enjoying the scenery.

After some thought, and considering that although Fyodor had tricked him before, he was still one of the rare humans who could bring him novelty, Shibusawa easily scooped up Fyodor and ran off together.

Fyodor, who still had plans: …

Had Shibusawa just been with Yunxi-kun? Why was his behavior so reminiscent of Yunxi-kun???

Meanwhile, Yunxi – whom Fyodor was mentally complaining about – didn’t realize Shibusawa hadn’t followed them until Gogol transported him all the way to their hideout and the door closed behind them.

Yunxi: ???

Not realizing that he might have been the one who scared Shibusawa away, Yunxi searched around and, finding no trace of Shibusawa in his 200-square-meter hideout, began sighing dejectedly.

Shibusawa-kun is really too fragile! If mere baldness can defeat him, what else can he accomplish in the future?!

Gogol tried to suppress his laughter while agreeing: Exactly! Shibusawa-kun is too fragile!

Yunxi: Good thing I’ve already collected enough cat fur… Well, my special ability energy is running low again. I’ll come find Shibusawa-kun another time.

Yunxi had initially thought that with the White Whale and Fitzgerald’s money at his disposal during this period, he would have become much more powerful. Yet, he hadn’t grown significantly stronger. Since that was the case, there was no point wasting time in front of the White Tiger.

Gogol: What about now?

Now… Yunxi had been about to say he’d just hang around in Yokohama, but as he turned his head, he saw the adult Gogol’s smiling face.

Abruptly, Yunxi reached out and tore off Gogol’s mask: Korya, how did you get that scar on your eye?

Huh? Gogol froze for a moment. Is this Little Yunxi’s question?

Gogol widened his eyes.

I won’t let you continue being my little bird anymore. Yunxi finished his dramatic pause.

The air fell silent for a brief moment.
Then, Gogol burst into laughter.

HAHAHAHA! Little Yunxi! Are you using that to threaten the Clown?

So why were the two Gogols so different? This didn’t seem right, did it?

Yunxi began pondering deeply, while Gogol, after staring at Yunxi for a long time, gradually understood something.

Gogol didn’t voice it aloud. He first inspected the hideout, then said: Little Yunxi, you stay here for now. I’m going out for a bit and will be right back.

Yunxi had already laid down on the sofa: Ah, go ahead. I’ll rest for a while.

Gogol left.

The Clown suspects Little Yunxi possesses the power to distort time and travel to other places during that process.

Gogol murmured: But this is easy to verify. I just need to use the Co-eating Virus on both Little Yunxi and the Clown himself right before Little Yunxi enters that state again.

Little Yunxi doesn’t feel pain, but if the virus on the Clown is neutralized within 72 hours of Little Yunxi passing out, then the Clown’s speculation would be confirmed.

Therefore, for Little Yunxi’s sake, the Clown would swiftly eliminate Pushkin.

Another world.

Initially, only the officer who had contact with Yunxi claimed he was terrifying, and the authorities wouldn’t have believed it.

But after investigating for a few more days, other officers discovered that all circus members wore similar strange collars around their necks and were constantly bruised, seemingly subjected to violent exploitation.

If any officer pretended to want to join the circus, they would receive mocking smiles from the circus members and comments like: Come on, join the circus! Become a worker inheriting the Boss’s debts, become a scapegoat who can’t fight back, become a masochist waking up at 3 AM looking for beatings…

Not only that, the officers also learned about the silver-haired boy who always carried a Little White Bird with him near the circus ringmaster. He appeared to be kept as the ringmaster’s private plaything without even realizing it.

After all, the circus ringmaster rarely allowed the boy to go out alone to meet others, and always kept the boy by his side.

The officers: !!!

This is serious!!!

Russian authorities quickly gathered more powerful Espers and chose a night when the circus was closed for maintenance to sneak into the circus.

Their timing was perfect – Yunxi had just switched games and arrived in this world.

Yunxi ignored Little Gogol’s question of Ringmaster, why did you sleep so long? and casually tossed him a half-processed chicken, telling him to go to the kitchen to prepare extra food.

After Little Gogol left, Yunxi sprang up like a carp leaping out of water, strode out the door, and energetically began dealing with those circus members who’d scale the roof to remove tiles if left unchecked for three days.

Just as the officers had completed their infiltration with the help of special Espers, they witnessed the circus ringmaster wearing a single turquoise earring kick three circus members flying in one fluid motion.

The officers: !!!

They tried to endure it, but when they saw the ringmaster twirl his knife twice and cleanly slice the ear of an exceptionally gloomy-looking man at a speed none of them could react to, then gradually thrust downward toward the man’s eye, they could bear it no longer.

Stop! The concealment Special Ability was dispelled, all officers aiming their gun barrels at the circus ringmaster.

A certain Esper’s Special Ability suddenly activated, instantly severing all restraining collars around the circus members’ necks.

Don’t move! Drop your weapons! Raise your hands! Or we’ll open fire immediately!!!

Faced with this sudden turn of events, even the circus members who were being abused jumped in fright.

But upon regaining their senses and seeing the collars on the ground, they immediately realized this was a perfect opportunity to escape the circus.

After all, they’d regained their freedom now, and judging by the officers’ demeanor, they seemed to completely view them as victims!!!

Thinking this, the circus members’ eyes lit up, and their acting skills went into overdrive.

Help! Save me! Please save me! Look at these wounds all over my body – all burned by the circus ringmaster!

My ear…My arm…My hair…My… my Jinjiang… feeding me peanuts…

Watching the officers’ expressions rapidly switching between pity and shock, the circus members grew even more pleased with themselves.

But before they could mentally mock this universally betrayed ringmaster – whom no one would believe even if he claimed they were fellow criminals – they heard the ringmaster suddenly let out a sinister Heh heh heh laugh.

That’s right! the ringmaster declared loudly. I inflicted all these wounds on them! After all, I believe this world operates on the principle that the strong rule, and the weak have no value beyond serving as slaves to the strong! But since you’ve discovered us now, let’s fight!

Circus members: ?

Wait, why did the ringmaster admit it?

Hold on… could it be that the ringmaster is stronger than all these officers combined? Did we pick the wrong side?!

The circus members wanted to flee but didn’t dare.

Since they’d already chosen their side, right or wrong, the safest place now was near these officers.

Yunxi started running wildly, the officers began chasing frantically, and the circus members desperately pumped their legs to keep up.

Yunxi ran faster than a rabbit, but whenever the officers and circus members fell behind, he’d immediately reveal an intentional weakness. When the officers drew near, Yunxi would forcibly grab a circus member to use as a human shield.

While doing this, Yunxi ruthlessly declared: I raised you all from infancy through hardship, and you ungrateful wretches won’t even obey me… Well then, go die for me now!

Circus members: .

Is that ‘raising someone by wiping their shit and piss’ meant in the literal sense?

Damn it, even before dying, they had to be disgusted by the ringmaster one last time. They died with so much resentment.

Just like that, after a series of maneuvers, the officers realized their ammunition was dwindling, and the number of victims they managed to save was decreasing too.

Because not a single bullet hit the circus ringmaster—every shot ended up in a victim’s forehead.

The officers, who took down one victim per bullet: …

The officers sensed something was off. This circus ringmaster must be hiding something; otherwise, he couldn’t possibly be so precise—snatching a victim every time they closed in, blocking every shot with a victim in front of him, all while remaining completely unscathed.

But whenever the officers considered retreating, they’d see the circus ringmaster accidentally avoid residential areas and dash into the birch forest he’d previously cleared himself. They’d also see him accidentally trip on flat ground, or accidentally drop his holstered pistol…

The officers: …

You’re trying to tempt officers with this?

Well, fine—they really would take the bait!

After another ten minutes of cat and mouse, nearly all the victims around the officers were dead.

The officers couldn’t understand why the surviving victims stubbornly refused to return to the circus for shelter, but as their minds cooled, they decided to prioritize evacuating these burdens.

If the circus ringmaster got away, so be it—at least they could save the survivors.

But then the ringmaster up ahead started taunting again.

Hahaha, so weak! the circus ringmaster laughed arrogantly. You should’ve said so earlier! If I’d known, I wouldn’t have limited my targets to circus members. Ordinary people would’ve been much more fun to kill!

By the way, just ahead is where I bury the bodies. Hehe! Who would’ve thought that behind a circus bustling with tourists lies an entire burial ground?

The officers: …

***, this is truly unbearable!

Chase! They must chase! Today, they will uncover where he buries the bodies and bring this evil murderer to justice!!!

And so, the whole group ended up running a marathon outside the circus late at night.

By the time Little Gogol finished roasting the chicken and realized the circus was empty, he sensed something wrong. Following the trail of circus members’ corpses and blood, he found Yunxi just as Yunxi had completed a large loop outside and led the officers back.

Covered in other people’s blood, Yunxi bumped right into Little Gogol. He snatched the roasted chicken leg from Little Gogol’s hand, took a big bite, and gave a thumbs-up:

Not bad, pretty tasty—just a bit cold.

Little Gogol was dazed: Ringmaster, what are you…?

Yunxi looked relaxed. He reached out with his other hand—the one that hadn’t touched the chicken leg—to pat Little Gogol’s head:

Don’t worry, just racing these folks. If you’re tired, head back early and rest. No need to wait for me tonight.

She strained to shift Little Gogol to her side, then swiftly stepped in front of him.

The gun in her hands remained aimed at Yunxi, but her voice was gentle as she spoke to Little Gogol: It’s alright now, child. You’re safe.

The gun in her hands remained aimed at Yunxi, but her voice was gentle as she spoke to Little Gogol: It’s alright now, child. You’re safe.

You don’t have to… wait for this demon anymore tonight. Her tone was still somewhat strained as she said this, but her voice was exceptionally firm.

Little Gogol: …Huh? No, what happened?

Also, his roasted chicken fell near the squad leader. He hasn’t eaten it yet???

Little Gogol wanted to return to the captain’s side, but was promptly restrained by another officer nearby.

Don’t go over there. He’s not a good person, the officer said. You only want to follow him because he brainwashed you… We’re police officers. We wouldn’t lie to you.

Little Gogol was momentarily speechless. Meanwhile, Yunxi was also stunned by this sudden turn of events.

But soon, Yunxi realized this was a perfect opportunity.

After all, Yunxi had long wanted to send Little Gogol away.

While it was good that Little Gogol could stay by the player’s side—the player could at least protect him from being bullied by anyone—the player’s character card was that of an evil circus leader. Whenever the player showed Little Gogol kindness, they would extract hundreds or thousands of times more cruelty from others. Living in such a bloody environment would undoubtedly be detrimental to Little Gogol’s character development.

Yunxi had made thorough preparations for this but had never found the right moment.

Now, however, the opportunity seemed to have presented itself.

Thinking this, Yunxi abruptly snatched up the roasted chicken Little Gogol had dropped, raised it high, and imitating the villains from movies and TV shows, let out a dramatic howl toward the sky. With concise and fluid language, he voiced the fabricated thoughts he’d prepared:

Haha! I never expected you’d discover that I brainwashed this child!

That’s right! I am indeed such an evil villain. I knew he liked birds, so I forced him to roast the free-range bird he raised for me to eat. This was to cultivate his habit of animal abuse from a young age!

The few surviving circus members: ?

What nonsense? This little demon would live his whole life in pain and self-blame? He should be eager to use the cruelest methods to torture and kill those who sold him here!

But just as the circus members were about to refute, an officer angrily interjected:

We knew what kind of scum you were the moment we saw your earring! You killed those villagers just to make this child suffer more, didn’t you? You wanted him to trust you, then have his faith collapse because of you… How could there be such a filthy creature like you in this world?!

Yunxi had no idea what the other was talking about, but that didn’t stop him from agreeing: Ah, yes yes yes.

The officer grew even angrier at Yunxi’s unrepentant attitude:

Yunxi giggled, then slammed the roasted chicken onto the ground and stomped on it: I don’t care about them!

The officers were nearly driven mad with rage, but Little Gogol suddenly realized something.

As an Esper himself, Little Gogol naturally had a general understanding of special ability strength levels and knew the leader couldn’t possibly be unable to defeat these officers.

Was the squad leader trying to abandon him using this method?

Little Gogol’s expression shifted. He pulled out an earring that originally belonged to the leader from Yunxi’s game interface immediately began flashing OOC warnings incessantly, while a pop-up window stating [You’ve realized the police aren’t actually investigating you, and you believe the circus manager shouldn’t take the fall for subordinates] suddenly appeared right in front of her face.

Yunxi finally understood what that police officer had been talking about earlier.

So it was Little Gogol who committed the murder, but the police investigated the wrong person, treating the player as the suspect while considering Little Gogol the victim?

Damn! I gave you that ability, but not for you to use it like this right now!his [Overcoat] and shouted loudly: Korya has one of these too!

Yunxi’s game interface immediately began flashing OOC warnings incessantly, while a pop-up window stating [You’ve realized the police aren’t actually investigating you, and you believe the circus manager shouldn’t take the fall for subordinates] suddenly appeared right in front of her face.

Yunxi finally understood what that police officer had been talking about earlier.

So it was Little Gogol who committed the murder, but the police investigated the wrong person, treating the player as the suspect while considering Little Gogol the victim?

Damn! I gave you that ability, but not for you to use it like this right now!

Everything had been fine until now. Players being hunted was one thing—they could still come back to play from time to time. But now, if the players didn’t want their characters eliminated, Little Gogol would end up becoming a wanted criminal just like them!

This must not happen!!!

Yunxi steeled himself, gritted his teeth, and with zero-frame activation, ignited his burning special ability before the officers could turn around and see what Little Gogol was holding.

Flames instantly engulfed the entire circus, and a flicker of fire sprang up right in front of Little Gogol.

The crimson flames abruptly cut off Little Gogol’s attempt to reestablish a spatial passage, completely devouring the earring in his hand.

Little Gogol froze for a moment, then looked up. Ringmaster, why…?

Yunxi cut him off. Calling me so affectionally even at a time like this! At such a young age, you’re already this cunning and manipulative—you cannot be allowed to stay!

Little Gogol immediately changed his tone. Bad Ringmaster!

Yunxi: Showing such murderous intent at such a young age—you cannot be allowed to stay!

Little Gogol: Sometimes good, sometimes bad Ringmaster!

Yunxi: Already learning to want everything at such a young age—you cannot be allowed to stay!

Little Gogol: …

The ringmaster destroying the earring he had previously given him was one thing, but why was it that no matter what he said now, the ringmaster refused to let him stay?

Did the ringmaster not like him anymore?

Little Gogol wanted to say more, but Yunxi suddenly raised his hand, adopting an attacking stance.

The surrounding officers were startled and immediately shielded Little Gogol more cautiously.

Seeing this, Yunxi withdrew his hand with some disappointment, but soon, a wicked smile spread across his face.

The officers didn’t understand why this circus ringmaster always announced his misdeeds out loud, as if afraid they wouldn’t know when his ultimate move started and ended. But they could tell the ringmaster wasn’t lying.

Only three minutes left!

The officers instantly went on high alert, frantically thinking of ways to capture him within three minutes.

Meanwhile, Little Gogol’s mind finally clicked. He changed his approach and shouted, Ringmaster! The wooden bird and Little White Bird you gave me are still inside!

Yunxi, who had been about to continue his threats, paused.

The next second, Yunxi closed the ooc warning pop-up that had been persistently appearing. Staring at his personal status screen—[Severe OOC: HP -1 per second] and the newly added [Poisoned Status: All Attributes -20%]—he resolved himself to certain death and performed an exaggerated pratfall.

Then, pretending to be overwhelmed by the officers’ assault, Yunxi gritted his teeth and cleared a path through the flames for Little Gogol. Go find your things. I’ll deal with you later.

Little Gogol: !
