Chapter 4: No Obligation to Answer

Yunxi originally wanted to laugh too.

But his morals and sense of humor were fiercely battling each other. In the end, Yunxi remembered his purpose for coming here and chose to put out the fire first.

The moment Yunxi opened the fire hydrant and jumped into the warehouse, he was attacked by all the guards.

He could only swiftly dodge the guards’ attacks while rescuing the little Sheep members whenever possible.

With one little Sheep in his left hand, his right hand snatched an iron rod from a guard. He temporarily stored the iron rod in his Game backpack, then spun around to throw the little Sheep to safety while repositioning himself to a better angle for wielding the iron rod.

The next second, the iron rod was retrieved from the Game backpack and appeared in Yunxi’s left hand, closer to the guard, before immediately striking the guard’s head.

Clang!

Good, not dead—just knocked out.

Although the great Savior was sneaky, petty, and fond of lying… he still had to be careful about important matters like this!

After all, this game contained role-playing elements. Playing the Savior meant upholding the Savior’s virtues! How could he kill people in front of minors?!

He used [Nimble Hands] on the pink-haired girl who was looking at him with admiration.

Well, he did say earlier that sneaky acts counted as minor matters.

He opened his backpack to check.

Damn, just a few low-value coins. It seemed he couldn’t get anything valuable from this NPC.

Yunxi’s expression gradually showed disappointment.

The girl remained completely unaware: Are you an Esper who wants to join [Sheep]? I can help you tell Chuya…

Another white-haired boy who had been silent nearby stepped forward and interrupted unhappily: Yuzu Xing, we don’t even know where he came from. Besides, [Sheep] isn’t an organization that just anyone can join. We should test him first…

Yunxi didn’t like listening to NPCs’ lengthy speeches, so he went straight to the key points.

This person was likely the second-in-command of the organization but wasn’t very respectful toward the leader. He also held hostility toward Yunxi and would probably make things difficult for him when he tried to join [Sheep].

Yunxi mentally clicked his tongue and began spamming [Nimble Hands] on the white-haired boy.

Money, useless packaging, a luxury watch…

None of these were Yunxi’s targets, so he skipped them directly.

[Shirase’s knife] ×1.

Having spent several days in this game world, Yunxi already knew what kind of place this was.

This world was extremely chaotic, with mafia everywhere, and everyone carried weapons to some extent. But if caught killing without reason, it would still be troublesome.

Yunxi thought for a moment, then applied some poison he’d stolen from Dr. Mori’s cabinet onto the dagger in his backpack.

The moment the Sheep King’s gravity field covered the area and the ground began to shake, Yunxi grabbed Shirase’s hand and used his backpack’s special feature to directly transfer the dagger into the other’s palm.

The next second, using his immense strength, Yunxi forcibly controlled Shirase’s hand to stab the dagger into his own abdomen.

His health points began plummeting wildly—from 20 to 10, then even lower. Finally, they barely stabilized at 3 points.

Yunxi grinned, then passed out amidst Shirase’s disbelief and Yuzu Xing’s terrified screams.

Of course, before he passed out, he was still clutching Shirase’s hand tightly.

If the little Sheep members dared to cruelly torture and kill him next, he would resurrect and shout I’d rather betray the world than let the world betray me, then indiscriminately open fire on everyone around him before telling the King of Sheep it was just self-defense. If the little Sheep took him back to their base instead, he’d use his injuries to play pitiful and pledge loyalty to the King of Sheep.

He’d heard about the King of Sheep’s style – the other party wasn’t an unreasonable NPC.

Perfect!

It’s just that the player was really too weak right now. If only he had more powerful strength. Then the player wouldn’t have fainted twice in such a short time.

Also, it seemed like too much poison had been administered – why was his health still dropping…

Yunxi waited in the darkness for the in-game time to fast forward while mentally grumbling to himself.

Suddenly, the game popped up a notification window.

[You have been targeted by an NPC’s space-type ability! The toxin content in your body has been significantly reduced!]

[Poisoned status: -0.3 HP per hour]→[Poisoned status: -0.05 HP every 3 hours]

Yunxi: !!!

It’s a kind space-type ability user!

He’s fallen in love with Yokohama all over again!

Meanwhile, at the Sheep’s base, a white figure briefly paused beside Yunxi’s body.

He seemed to be looking for something but couldn’t find it, eventually reluctantly giving Yunxi some basic treatment before quickly disappearing when noises came from outside.

No traces remained to suggest that any outsider had ever been there.

When Yunxi woke up, an orange-haired boy was already sitting by his bedside.

You’re awake? said the orange-haired boy – Nakahara Chuuya – with a somewhat strange expression. I’m Nakahara Chuuya, the Gravity User of Sheep. The one who attacked you was Shirase, I’ve already spoken to him… Are you an Esper who just arrived in Yokohama?

Yunxi snapped out of his daze from seeing the other’s panel showing a full 100 combat power, then revealed an delighted expression.

His luck was really good!

I’m the Savior who just arrived in Yokohama. My name is Yunxi.

Yunxi first corrected the error in Nakahara Chuuya’s words, then added, I want to join Sheep, and I want to stay by your side. Do you have any conditions you want to propose right now?

Nakahara Chuuya: ???

*

So, you came specifically for me? Nakahara Chuuya wasn’t stupid, especially since Yunxi’s behavior was obvious enough. Did someone send you, or did you seek me out on your own after hearing about me?

Yunxi thought about it and found this question somewhat difficult to answer.

Yunxi chose to turn his head away proudly: No obligation to answer.

Nakahara Chuuya’s face turned slightly green, but he still rephrased the question from a different angle: Why did you appear at that warehouse?

This one he could answer.

Yunxi answered honestly: Because I heard the little Sheep were going there, and I thought the little Sheep definitely couldn’t defeat those guards.

Nakahara Chuuya: What’s the necessary connection between you thinking they couldn’t defeat the guards and you going to the scene?

Of course it’s because I wanted to see you. Yunxi looked at Nakahara Chuuya with an expression tinged with helplessness, as if thinking Chuuya was being unreasonable.

Nakahara Chuuya: .

If he kept asking why, they’d just circle back to the original no obligation to answer, right?

However, he did need to keep a slight eye on the other person. If there were no issues, he would let them join the [Sheep], because in Yokohama, being an individual without an organization was extremely dangerous.

But.

Whatever you want to do, for now, just rest here. Nakahara Chuuya stood up. Shirase’s dagger seemed to be poisoned, and your wound hasn’t fully healed yet…

Yunxi had already jumped up.

Taking a roll of bandages from his backpack and wrapping himself up again, Yunxi said naturally, It’s fine, I’m almost healed.

Besides, recuperating in a place full of mold like this probably isn’t good for the wound. Yunxi even started missing that doctor. As he walked out, he added, Living here, I’m afraid I’ll start thinking Liu Yuxi was a corrupt official whenever I read ‘An Eulogy for My Humble Home’…

Yunxi pushed open the somewhat shaky room door.

Ah, you’re all here. Yunxi blinked. It’s fine, keep eating. Chuya and I are going out for a bit.

The little Sheep: .

They all looked at Nakahara Chuuya.

Chuya, who had been about to ask what An Eulogy for My Humble Home was: Ahem, I’m going out to check the surrounding area. If he holds me back, I’ll send him back.

The little Sheep remained silent.

Only after Yunxi and Nakahara Chuuya had left together did one of the little Sheep speak up: Chuya seems to really like this new Esper.

Yeah, he’s never paid this much attention to other newcomers.

After all, they’re the same kind, and… that unfamiliar black-haired Esper’s appearance was too dazzling, unlike anyone who should appear in Yokohama.

Yunxi didn’t know what the little Sheep were thinking.

Yunxi only marveled at how the Gravity User was genuinely this level of a good person.

Because right after leaving the [Sheep] base, Nakahara Chuuya directly said: You actually have things you want to do too, right? I can go with you.

Yunxi: !

He had been wondering how to get Nakahara Chuuya to agree to his request, never expecting the other to offer first!

Yunxi cautiously asked one last time: You’ll be with me all day today?

Nakahara Chuuya kicked a small stone by his feet: Yeah.

That’s great, Chuya! You’re seriously the best leader I’ve ever met in the whole world!

In his excitement, Yunxi directly hugged Chuya, loudly declaring over the other’s background protests of I’m not a leader: I really do have lots and lots of things I want to do! Anyway, no time to waste, let’s set off right now!

*

Nakahara Chuuya and the player spent the day immersed in experiencing the player’s busy schedule.

By the time they went out, it was already noon, and the player mentioned feeling somewhat hungry.

So the player did some minor scrounging, then stopped at a roadside pancake stall.

Boss, one pancake please. The player flipped his wrist, producing two stolen eggs. I’ll add my own eggs, give me a discount.

Boss: Sure, sure. But young man, where did you buy those eggs? At the nearby supermarket? They’re not cheaper than mine…

Player: I picked them up.

The boss suddenly understood: Oh oh, eggs from your own chicken coop then, that’s fine.

Their conversation ended there.

The entire time, Nakahara Chuuya just looked at the black-haired boy beside him, then at the boss, his face full of unspoken words.

Nakahara Chuuya wanted to say that the black-haired boy hadn’t picked up eggs from a chicken coop – he had acquired them from a neighboring vendor’s basket.

The black-haired boy had even asked Chuuya if he wanted some eggs earlier, but Chuuya, who didn’t want to steal from small vendors, had sternly refused.

Thinking of this, Chuuya sighed and took another step forward.

Watching the black-haired boy who had started ignoring him after the refusal and was now only focused on the pancake, Chuuya suddenly felt a strange sensation in his heart.

But the next moment, Chuuya shuddered on the spot.

Why was he having this reaction?

No meant no! He didn’t want to eat pancakes made with stolen eggs anyway!

But Chuuya was genuinely hungry.

In the end, he still stepped forward and took out some money, saying, One pancake, nothing else added.

Coming right up!

The player who got his pancake first naturally finished eating first, but he patiently waited for quite a while until Chuuya had also finished eating before continuing forward.

When they reached a place with heavy foot traffic, the player told Chuuya to stay back while he found a suitable spot and began begging.

Compared to the malnourished children of Yokohama, the player was somewhat taller, not at all thin or weak, and his complexion was too rosy… but his maxed-out charm stat perfectly compensated for these shortcomings.

Eight out of ten passersby would take pity on the player and offer him some money or food.

As for the remaining two, they were attracted by the player’s max charm and wanted to become his sugar daddies.

The player would readily agree and have those with similar intentions bid against each other, then leave with the wealthiest one. Along the way, he would constantly use [Nimble Hands], returning only when he couldn’t squeeze any more benefits out of them.

But the player’s appearance was too conspicuous, and his reputation in the area had grown quite substantial. So today, right after the player had shaken off a wealthy patron and returned, he was approached again by a small mafia organization he had provoked a few days earlier.

This time, the player still didn’t let Chuuya intervene.

Relying on his tenacious willpower and the combat skills he had honed over the past few days, the player defeated all the enemies and directly charged into the Boss’s hideout.

Bang! Bang! Bang! The player literally kicked down every door in the Boss’s residence along the way, finally delivering a powerful kick to the Boss himself.

The Boss was sent flying and knocked unconscious, but that was too lenient. So the player woke him up again.

Ordering your subordinates to come after me every day – did you just want this feeling of being entangled by me?

The player slapped him hard twice. Speak!

What’s wrong? Not talking? Is it because being entangled by me makes it hard to breathe? Feeling a bit suffocated? Are your eyes rolling back unconsciously? Is your throat sore… Could it be that you’re not unwilling to speak, but actually unable to?

The Boss nearly nodded with tears in his eyes.

The player tightened his grip: That’s normal, since I’m using a rope to entangle you after all.

Boss: .

The Boss’s eyes rolled back, and he passed out with a thud.

Chuuya, who had witnessed the entire scene: …

He said it was just a little revenge on the Boss, but Yunxi basically wanted to wipe out this entire mafia organization!!!
