I Became Famous After I Became a Parrot in the Movie Star's House - Chapter 78
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
A man howls loudly, a fierce dog attacks with full force. The sudden scene sends the crowd into chaos.
The people in the tour group scream and scatter, giving Li Pu and Zhang Junjun the opportunity to rush over after hearing the noise.
How strong can a German Shepherd’s bite be?
The skin on either side of Doug’s mouth wrinkles deeply, and his usually calm eyes now burn with ferocity. His teeth sink deeply into the man’s clothes, and one can imagine the horrifying scene if the dog were to bite deeper.
Bai Gaoxing clearly remembers how, during Zhang Junjun and Doug’s training for performances, the dog’s jagged canine teeth easily rip out large pieces of cotton from the thick cotton sleeves.
Now, it’s the same.
Bai Gaoxing flies high to observe the situation below.
Zhang Junjun rushes toward them from more than ten meters away. From the look on his face, he seems to realize something unexpected is happening. Li Pu is even closer, only three to five meters from the heart of the chaos.
An adult German Shepherd can weigh up to 40 kilograms, and its sudden forceful attack is enough to knock someone down. The man manages to keep his balance by chance. His face turns red with rage, and he suddenly raises his eyebrows, pulling out a sharp knife from his arm!
The white gleam of the blade makes Bai Gaoxing narrow his eyes. “Oh no!” he thinks, and immediately shouts, “Doug, get back!”
There is no response.
At this point, Doug’s vision is wide, but he doesn’t see Zhang Junjun yet. Still, he is determined not to let go of his grip.
It seems there is no other way.
Bai Gaoxing decides to take a risk.
He quickly flies down and bites the man’s index finger with all his might, sinking his beak into the knuckle.
He has never used his beak in this way before, so he has no idea what the effect will be. But he realizes that his beak, which can easily crack walnuts, makes a similar sound when biting through bones…
It should be—a fracture, right?
The man cries out in pain, and the knife in his hand falls. Bai Gaoxing can’t hold on to the smooth, narrow surface of the blade anymore, and without the support, he tumbles down with it.
“Don’t move!”
In the next moment, Li Pu, who has rushed over, pins the man to the ground, preventing him from moving, while a follower who arrives just in time carries the child to safety.
Oh? You have a few tricks up your sleeve?
Bai Gaoxing looks up in surprise, only to find Li Pu staring at him with a worried expression.
Oh, looks like I won’t be flying around for a while.
Bai Gaoxing flaps his wings a little but feels a sharp pain somewhere. Turning his head, he realizes that his left wing is injured, with blood staining a large area of feathers.
It looks scary.
Maybe… when was he scratched earlier? Bai Gaoxing tentatively flaps his wings again and, hmm, there’s really no discomfort. It’s probably just a small cut.
Delicate skin and tender flesh.
While Bai Gaoxing continues searching for the wound, Li Pu furrows his brows deeply. He glances at the big parrot, still moving around aimlessly, and instinctively notices the red spot has spread. Subconsciously, he applies more pressure, “Dabai, don’t move!”
“Ouch…” The man pinned beneath him groans, feeling like his arms are about to break. He begs for mercy, “Brother! I won’t run! Let your dog go!”
Yes, Doug is still biting down on him on the other side.
Zhang Junjun pushes through the crowd at that moment. He first glances at Doug, who is unharmed, and lets out a sigh of relief. Then his eyes land on the short knife on the ground, and his face turns livid.
After hearing the tourists nearby mention that the man had tried to stab Doug, he curses, “I’ll f*ck your mother,” and kicks the man so hard he rolls several times before coming to a stop.
The usually gentle and shy veteran now resembles a sharp blade unsheathed, his brow furrowed in a way that suggests a storm is coming, which is truly frightening.
Zhang Junjun remembers the most serious injury Doug has suffered. The prisoner had stabbed Doug in the stomach with a knife and scratched his eyes. But even then, Doug hadn’t let go until Zhang Junjun and his teammates rushed over and found him lying in the grass, covered in blood.
Such situations happen more than once.
So, Zhang Junjun, who has retired safely and hopes to live a peaceful life with his old friend, is now even angrier.
Among the crowd, Li Pu is the most surprised. The man has rolled out of his grasp in an instant, and he hasn’t been able to hold him back.
Now it’s Zhang Junjun’s turn to pin the man down. He pats Doug’s body and praises him with a “Good job.” Doug finally lets go, licking the blood from his mouth and wagging his tail gently.
At that moment, the crowd chasing the man finally arrives.
Three men and two women, looking like a family. The woman who has lost her child is too weak to stand and has to rely on others to help her slowly move into the group.
“My child… Thank you…” Bai Gaoxing hears her soft voice, choked with tears.
The other three men exchange glances, then clench their fists and begin to beat the man who has stolen the child.
Zhang Junjun turns back into the gentle and shy soldier, unable to stop them, but when he sees the police arrive, he “finally” manages to intervene.
“We called the police,” says the cameraman, who has been filming. After realizing the situation, they haven’t hesitated to make the call.
“What happened?”
The family calms down slightly, and the man explains the whole story. It turns out the woman had taken her child to sit in front of a store to enjoy the sun when the man suddenly appeared and snatched the child.
“I really didn’t expect someone to be so bold… Why don’t you just die?!” The young man’s eyes are red with anger, and he points at the man on the ground, gritting his teeth.
The human trafficker lies there with a bruised face and nose, shielding his head, trembling as he mutters, “I’m sorry, I was wrong.”
“Okay, let’s discuss this at the police station.” The police officer’s expression grows serious. As a scenic spot that has been heavily promoted by local policies, it is a dereliction of duty for the local authorities that such an incident has occurred.
He then looks at the child, who is peacefully asleep. “We’ll follow our car to the hospital for a check-up to see what he might have ingested.”
“It’s drugs,” Zhang Junjun says.
“Huh? You know?” the officer asks, surprised.
Zhang Junjun salutes, reports his unit name, and responds in a deep voice, “The only thing that could cause Doug to react like that is drugs.”
“Doug?” The officer’s eyes widen in surprise, then he smiles. “I know him.”
Zhang Junjun smiles too. The military dog is far more famous than himself.
Meanwhile, Li Pu, who has finally freed his hands, carefully examines his parrot. Bai Gaoxing squirms uncomfortably under the scrutiny. After confirming that there is only a small wound, Li Pu places him back in the bird bag.
Goodbye, freedom!
Bai Gaoxing waves a small handkerchief at the air outside.
…
It’s over. The program staff are filled with mixed emotions. They didn’t expect such a major event to happen while following someone!
A burst of music signals a call from the program team.
“Wang Hong and Liu Liang have returned. Why haven’t you come back yet? Haven’t you found them?” a voice asks from the other side.
A quiet murmur follows: “Impossible. Zhang Junjun and Li Pu wouldn’t get lost.”
The two cameramen exchange awkward smiles. They have been so nervous and curious while riding in the police car that they have forgotten to update anyone.
“What’s going on? Taking statements?” The director shouts, causing Wang Hong and Liu Liang, who have been chatting nearby, to turn their heads.
After a moment, the cameramen send a photo. It’s taken at the police station, showing Doug and Dabai standing beside them.
Once the group returns, the two cameramen explain the situation clearly.
“That’s terrifying, this place even has child snatchers!”
“That man grabs the child and hides in the crowd of tourists, the child won’t wake up no matter what.”
“Doug bravely rushes up and bites the criminal, and Dabai fights the criminal with the knife, biting the knife right out of his hand!”
Just listening to it is thrilling.
The director and screenwriter exchange glances. Thankfully, this part hasn’t been broadcast live, otherwise, the rumors would be all over the place by now.
“No wonder I hear a commotion over there. I think there’s some sort of event…” Wang Hong realizes with a sudden understanding.
“I came back too early. Otherwise, I could’ve helped!” Liu Liang muses.
“However, I only record the part where Doug and Dabai start acting strange. I’m not sure how they even find out what’s happening.” One of the photographers replays the video with a puzzled expression.
Zhang Junjun, who has been pouring water, doesn’t understand either.
Doug should not attack unless he hears his own voice—it is precisely because of this habit that Doug won’t let go even when being attacked.
On the other side, An Lu sprays something on the parrot’s wings.
Bai Gaoxing stretches out his wings obediently and lets him do it.
The moment they return, Li Pu takes him to the doctor, requesting treatment for his injury.
An Lu washes the bloodstains off his feathers, parts the fluff, and takes a quick look. “It’s okay; it’ll scab over soon. It’ll heal in two days.”
But to calm Li Pu’s worried mood, Bai Gaoxing is still examined according to the procedure and is put into an… Elizabethan collar.
“To prevent him from pecking at the wound and opening it up,” An Lu explains.
Li Pu looks down and sees that the parrot looks both silly and cute with a tube around its head.
Bai Gaoxing says he isn’t afraid.
Although his vision is blocked, it doesn’t stop him from eating.
……
However, just as the program team is planning to create some suspense without making a public announcement, discussing whether to edit the incident for the next episode, the news quickly breaks to the public.
That night, the official Weibo of the Jiangcheng Police posts an announcement.
[Today, a child trafficking case occurred in the Jingcheng Scenic Area of Jiangcheng. Fortunately, some brave people lent a hand in time. Thanks to their courage…]
Along with the announcement, some videos and photos taken by tourists are shared, though the impact isn’t entirely positive and has been widely circulated.
【Shit, what happened??】
【Brother Jun and Teacher Li? They’re okay, right? I heard there was a knife involved!】
【Such insane luck, thank goodness they’re fine!】
【Is this real? The production team should say something!】
The program team hadn’t expected the news to spread so quickly. They rush to release an official Weibo announcement confirming that the guests are safe, attaching a photo of the scene.
Fans are relieved, thinking everything is settled. But that evening, during the live broadcast, Dabai appears in the studio looking different from usual.
The Elizabethan collar—wasn’t this something you wear after surgery, injury, or illness?!
【Teacher Li, what happened?】
【Did Dabai get injured?】
【Was it because of this incident?】
Questions flood the live broadcast room, and Li Pu briefly responds, “It was a small accident, but it’s nothing serious.”
“No problem~ Don’t worry~” Bai Gaoxing munches on melon seeds in front of the camera, showing off his wings. His lively behavior reassures the fans a little.
The “Cute Pet Diary” continues its leisurely pace, and the next episode is about to air.
On that day, related topics have already started trending early, setting the tone for the night’s broadcast.
But what no one expects is that, along with the second episode, a video submission from an on-site witness also skyrockets to the trending list.
