I Became Famous After I Became a Parrot in the Movie Star's House - Chapter 77
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Faced with the crowd, Bai Gaoxing slowly approaches the doctor and cooperates as she checks his eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and wings. However, when she tries to check under his tail, he quickly slips away.
After the examination, An Lu stands silently, a thoughtful expression on her face.
The atmosphere in the production group grows tense.
After a moment, An Lu finally says, “He’s as strong as a bull.”
Everyone breathes a collective sigh of relief.
Li Pu’s expression also eases, but he still looks puzzled. “Then why does Dabai make that sound earlier?”
“I’m not sure,” An Lu replies, shaking her head. “Maybe he’s just bored? Keep an eye on him and observe for now.”
Sigh, you people will never understand.
Bai Gaoxing listens to the conversation, turns around, and hops onto Li Pu’s shoulder. “Sleep, sleep!”
Let a dream help him bury his embarrassment.
…
The next day, Bai Gaoxing wakes up feeling refreshed.
Peering out the window at the bright and sunny weather, he decides to follow the program team’s plan and head out for the day.
Jing City.
A scenic area known for its breathtaking views, each season offers unique charms, attracting tourists from all over the country.
However, since this is for a program shoot, the crew decides to avoid the bustling famous attractions and instead focus on the natural landscapes.
In the bedroom, Li Pu is already dressed and opens the door, ready to head downstairs.
Bai Gaoxing immediately flaps his wings and lands on Li Pu’s shoulder.
“Doug, go!”
In the yard, Zhang Junjun is training Doug as part of their daily routine.
The morning sun casts a golden glow over the man and his dog. Wearing a camouflage short-sleeved shirt, Zhang Junjun throws a small ball with force. The agile German Shepherd darts forward like a streak of lightning, leaping high into the air. The thick black fur on Doug’s back gleams like it’s coated in a layer of gold.
Even after retiring, the man and dog maintain their military habits, running and training every day to stay sharp.
From a distance, Bai Gaoxing shudders at the sight of Doug biting into the ball, feeling both a surge of excitement and relief that the ball isn’t him.
Over the past week, each guest has had a personal feature day, but the most memorable by far is Doug, whose absolute obedience is astounding.
Whether performing basic commands like following, shaking hands, or waiting to eat on command, or demonstrating more advanced skills like pouncing and biting, Doug executes each with precision. Zhang Junjun’s demonstrations leave everyone impressed.
However, Doug’s obedience is reserved solely for his owner. During filming, the other guests try giving him commands, but Doug only acts after receiving a nod of approval from Zhang Junjun. If no approval is given, the dog simply wags his tail and tilts his head, watching his owner’s expression for guidance.
A loyal, disciplined, and rule-abiding military dog.
From his perch, Bai Gaoxing pokes his head out and hears Li Pu greeting Zhang Junjun. Not long after, the other guests join them one after another.
“Today we’re heading to Jing City, so everyone, don’t forget to put leashes on your pets,” Wang Hong says as she adjusts the harness with angel wings on her parrot, Pingke, making sure it’s neither too tight nor too loose.
“It’s been ready for a while,” Liu Liang replies, holding his chubby duck in one hand. The duck’s two short orange legs paddle wildly in the air. “But I guess I’ll just hold it; it’s not very fast.”
Bai Gaoxing glances at Liu Liang’s hand and can’t help but notice the duck is wearing a poop diaper.
Doug doesn’t need to be worried about a leash. As a large dog, he is already used to wearing one whenever he goes out. However, for the sake of visual effect, the program team doesn’t just attach a leash, but also puts a tactical vest on him.
The black vest, paired with a black leash adorned with silver rings, looks imposing—if not for the three cartoonish words printed on the vest: I’m So Cute!
“It’s a bit like what he used to wear in the military,” Zhang Junjun says with a laugh.
On Wang Hong’s side, Pinke, the internet-famous parrot, has been accompanying Wang Hong on live streams in the strawberry greenhouse since it was young. Pinke usually stands on her shoulder when they walk and flies every day. Wang Hong’s home is surrounded by mountains and plains full of trees, so even Pinke can’t get lost, so there’s no need to worry.
The real concern is Li Pu’s pet.
“Teacher Li, does Dabai not go out with you often?” Wang Hong asks proactively.
Li Pu thinks for a moment before replying, “Sometimes I take him downstairs.”
Wang Hong then asks, “What about letting him fly?” She gestures with her hand, “Without a leash.”
Li Pu replies, “No.” He pauses. “But Dabai runs off on his own once, and I have to call him back.”
“Ah.” Wang Hong is surprised. “Then don’t take the risk.”
She waves her hand at the camera. “If you don’t have absolute confidence in letting him fly, don’t do it! Even experienced bird breeders can’t guarantee that a bird won’t run off the next time you let it fly. And if you’re unlucky, wild cats or meat-eating wild birds might pose a danger.”
At that moment, Liu Liang swiftly brings over a bird bag. It is square, transparent, and has a standing pole inside that crosses diagonally.
Bai Gaoxing shakes his head desperately: No, no, no, no, no!
He looks at Pinke, Susu, and Doug. Can they really expect him to watch the other pets outside, breathing fresh air, while he stays locked in the bag alone?
Li Pu stretches his hand out. “Dabai, come here.”
Bai Gaoxing immediately protests: “I won’t!” Don’t try to trick me into coming over!
Li Pu takes a few steps forward, and Bai Gaoxing quickly retreats.
The man and the bird are in a standoff.
After a while, the program staff approaches. “Is everyone ready?”
Liu Liang gestures toward the standoff. “Dabai is playing a game of wits with Teacher Li.”
“Huh?”
The staff looks over and are amused. “What’s going on?”
After learning that Dabai doesn’t want to stay in the bird bag, but that it’s risky to let him fly free, the staff thinks for a moment and turns to Li Pu. “Teacher Li, do you want to put Dabai in the bird bag?”
“Yes,” Li Pu nods.
“I got it,” Li Pu says with a smile, pulling out a flying leash and waving it at Dabai. “It seems like Dabai prefers being outside more, so no need for the bird carrier. Just take him out directly.”
Bai Gaoxing tilts his head suspiciously.
Looking back at Li Pu, it seems like he’s also giving a tacit approval.
It seems his protest has been quite effective!
Bai Gaoxing walks over with his head held high, but then suddenly feels a shadow cover his head, trapping him inside!
“Okay,” Liu Liang says.
He zips up the transparent bird bag, turns it around, and hands it to Li Pu. “Here you go, Brother Li.”
Bai Gaoxing is stunned.
The staff member clears his throat, clearly feeling guilty for deceiving the small animals. “Sorry, but safety comes first. Dabai, you’ll have to bear with it for a while. We’ll let you out once there are fewer people around.”
It isn’t that the program hasn’t had cute pets running around in fear after encountering too many strangers. Of all the pets, Dabai is the only one not very used to the flying rope—even though it has filmed scenes before, they were specially planned scenes, not this kind of trip where anything could happen.
Inside the bird bag, Bai Gaoxing has already become numb to the situation and is lazily flipping over under the standing pole.
Tired, he just lies down for a while.
Li Pu looks down at the white parrot, who seems to have accepted the reality of the situation. He stops smiling and slings the bird bag over his shoulder.
The trip to Jing City officially begins.
【Finally! A new backdrop! This place is so beautiful!】
【I’ll immediately look up the travel routes and hotel prices for one night here.】
【The crew really puts in a lot of effort finding these places~】
【Oh oh oh! Pink is indeed standing on Sister Wang Hong’s shoulder, it’s so well-behaved.】
【I really want a dog like Doug, so sensible and obedient, not impulsive, it just follows its owner wherever they go.】
【Susu is really something, like a human chauffeur. Yesterday, Liu Liang joked during the live stream that he’s afraid it will get lost and be made into crispy duck. I laugh so hard.】
【Why haven’t I seen Dabai with Teacher Li today… Did he stay back at the little villa?】
The viewers’ comments focus on Li Pu.
It’s a bit hot today, and since it’s an outdoor activity, the man is dressed simply in a thin jacket, long pants, and comfortable sneakers for walking.
【Hey, Teacher Li looks so young today.】
【…Pfft, he really does look young!】
【All the guests are dressed casually today, for convenience~】
【No, it’s mostly because it’s such a contrast to how he usually dresses. I can’t help but look at him a few extra times and admire it. Swoon.】
【By the way, did you see the white reflective strap on his left shoulder? What’s that? Liu Liang was blocking it so I couldn’t see.】
【Could it be… overalls?】
Everyone makes sounds of disbelief, but they still eagerly want to see, imagining what kind of outfit this could be.
Finally, Liu Liang moves aside to chat with others, fully revealing Li Pu, and the bag beside him comes into view as well.
【So it’s a bird bag.】
【Dabai’s in there!?】
【Poor Dabai, everyone else is sightseeing while he’s stuck inside crying (laughs).】
【At least the carrier is transparent, so Dabai can still see the sights!】
Bai Gaoxing thinks the same.
After the initial disbelief, now he feels: This is actually great.
It’s nice to lie down and enjoy the scenery without worrying about blocking the sun. If he stands on Li Pu, the sunlight would be uneven, and Li Pu would end up getting tanned on one side and not the other.
Lying down is definitely the better option.
Bai Gaoxing shifts in the bag, looking at the surrounding mountains, and sighs in relief. There’s only one road to Jing City, but once they arrive at the ancient city, there are three paths: one leading to classical architecture, another to natural scenery, and the middle road, with ancient buildings, is almost overcrowded. The dense forest to the left blocks the view too much, making it unsuitable for filming. So, the only option left is the road to the right.
On the right, there are some buildings, but rather than grand pavilions, there are winding, quiet ancient towns with green mountains behind them.
The place isn’t crowded—just enough people for filming.
When passers-by see the cameras, along with the handsome men and beautiful women, they shyly avoid them. Those who like excitement approach instead. The program team has to spend a lot of time convincing the crowd to leave to ensure filming can proceed.
Bai Gaoxing turns around again in the bag.
There isn’t much to see in the ancient town, but there are plenty of stalls selling all kinds of small trinkets that could make anyone dizzy. Too bad, though, since he can’t pick any of them himself.
“The task this time is for each person to take their pet to the destination and take a photo to check in,” Li Pu reads aloud the content on the card after the guests gather in an open area.
The program team has distributed photos to everyone. As long as everyone finds the location and takes a photo for check-in, they’ll be done.
“This is so difficult,” Wang Hong groans, looking at the task. “It sounds simple, but I’m terrible with directions.”
“I’m not bad with directions, but why does this place feel so creepy?” Liu Liang remarks, glancing at the photo in his hand, which looks like a temple.
Li Pu also looks at his assigned photo, which seems to show an old shop, though he has no idea what it sells.
The ancient town has countless winding, narrow roads, so it’s easy to get lost at first glance.
During their earlier “sightseeing,” Bai Gaoxing has already sensed the danger of this place and can’t help but worry—what if they run into something strange?
If it comes to that, and if Li Pu gets lost, maybe he could fly up and show him the way?
Bai Gaoxing glances up at the man, wondering if he would agree.
Sigh, it definitely won’t happen now. They’re not even letting him out, let alone when there are a lot of people.
He turns over and continues to look at the sky.
Before leaving, Wang Hong sincerely asks the photographer who follows her, “If I get lost, you must help me out!”
The other three laugh.
It’s time to start. Li Pu adjusts the position of the bird bag and is about to choose a path when he is suddenly stopped by Zhang Junjun.
“Let’s go together?”
At Li Pu’s puzzled look, Zhang Junjun takes out his photo. “We should be going to the same place.”
Li Pu looks at the photo and sees that the lower right corner of his photo matches the lower left corner of Zhang Junjun’s.
He’s surprised. “It seems so.”
“Probably… to mess with us,” Zhang Junjun thinks of a word.
The two cameramen behind them pretend not to hear.
After discussing, the two of them decide to set off together.
Yo, Brother Dao, let’s go together.
Bai Gaoxing lies in the bird bag, looking down at Doug’s smooth back. It seems that the muscles under the vest rise and fall with the movement, showing the strong physique of the German Shepherd.
As if he notices Bai Gaoxing’s gaze, Doug turns his head and looks back with amber eyes in confusion.
Looks like it’s time to slack off.
Bai Gaoxing feels bored, so he stands on the pole for a while before slowly lying down again.
Since they have to find the location marked in the photo, Li Pu and Zhang Junjun don’t walk very fast. With their slow pace, Bai Gaoxing can’t help but feel a little sleepy.
Blue sky, flowing clouds, mountains, bluestone slabs, and small rivers.
Bai Gaoxing counts the scenery he sees.
Crowds, shops, red lanterns, running men, motionless children…
Hmm? Motionless children!?
Bai Gaoxing suddenly stands up with a jolt, then stares carefully at a spot far ahead of him. A man is running quickly toward them, holding a child of about two or three years in his arms.
It’s strange. The child doesn’t react to the movement, as if he were asleep.
A heart-wrenching shout comes from the other side of the river, but it’s hard to hear because it’s so far away.
Down below, Doug pricks up his ears and glances toward that direction.
The area is too noisy, with shouts blending together, making it difficult to hear anything clearly.
Bai Gaoxing begins to unlock the inside of the bird bag.
The zipper isn’t difficult to open. He can manage it with a claw. He bites the chain to open a small hole, then uses his claws to pull it wider.
Bai Gaoxing pokes his head out.
Li Pu hasn’t realized that the bird bag is already open. He’s still discussing with Zhang Junjun where the store might be.
The man with the child is getting closer and closer to them.
Bai Gaoxing’s eyes grow more serious. He thinks about shouting, but before he can open his mouth, a group of people rushes out from the alley ahead, scattering Li Pu, Zhang Junjun, and the two photographers.
Even the dog in Zhang Junjun’s hands is swept away.
The person at the front of the crowd is holding a loudspeaker: “Don’t push! Everyone follow me…”
Tour group? Or accomplices?
But it’s too late to tell. Bai Gaoxing feels that if he doesn’t act quickly, he’ll be squeezed flat, so he flies out of the already opened bag, flapping his wings.
Once airborne, his field of vision widens.
Bai Gaoxing sees Li Pu’s panicked expression and also sees Doug, who is dodging people’s legs before finally finding a space with fewer people.
Zhang Junjun is helplessly pushed farther away by the crowd.
The man with the child is nearly out of the crowd. He looks back, a mix of panic and relief on his face, then flashes a dazzling smile of joy.
“The child… is ahead…” The woman’s crying voice comes from behind, faintly muffled by the deafening noise of the crowd.
If only Zhang Junjun were here.
Bai Gaoxing scans the area and considers how he can stop the man, or command Doug to grab him…
Wait, command Doug!?
Bai Gaoxing suddenly has an idea. He turns around and flies straight onto Doug’s back, grabbing the leash and trying to pull the dog toward the direction where the man is running. “Let’s go! Run that way, your owner’s over there!” But the dog is heavy and unmovable, no matter how much he pulls.
Doug sees Bai Gaoxing and wags his tail, but his body remains still.
Bai Gaoxing’s heart sinks, and he immediately changes his tone: “Doug, go!”
Doug shakes his ears, tenses his body, and looks confused.
But then, his expression changes. He lowers his head and sniffs the air, as though detecting something.
The man has finally broken free of the crowd. At such a close distance, Bai Gaoxing can now see the child in his arms, still and unusually quiet. He tightens his grip on Doug’s leash and lowers his voice: “Doug, pounce!”
At the same time, the two cameramen have finally found high ground and are trying to use their cameras to locate the guests they’ve lost track of.
Just as the camera pans slowly, a low “Woof!” catches their attention.
They quickly adjust the cameras, aiming at the source of the sound.
The ferocious military dog shoots forward like lightning. Normally docile, it now seems enraged. Its sharp teeth gleam in the air as it bites the man with full force.
Behind the dog, a flash of snow-white suddenly jumps into view.
Is that… Dabai!?
