Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

The man’s body and the door form a narrow space, just enough to cast the boy into shadow. The air is silent, filled only with the sound of their mingled breaths.

Bai Gaoxing’s expression goes blank, and his fingers, hanging at his sides, curl up uncontrollably.

His mind can no longer comprehend what the man has just done to him. His brain seems to be roaring, and only his eyes still function, clearly reflecting the figure in front of him.

Li Pu straightens up from the boy’s trembling gaze. A sense of frustration weighs on him, but there is no trace of regret.

Even if he has never considered it before, he can no longer suppress the thoughts in his heart. He has worried about scaring Dabai, but if he hadn’t caught the clues today, he might not have even realized the boy had been planning to leave.

The anger he feels when the boy says he is leaving is indescribable. The worries he once thought were illusions have turned into reality, and he can’t understand why. So, even if the anger and unwillingness last only a moment, they push him to make an uncharacteristic move—

Something he has long thought about. Something he wants to prove to Dabai.

“Why do you want to leave?” he asks again.

Li Pu’s fingertips are still pressing against Bai Gaoxing’s chin, leaving faint red marks on his skin. He isn’t even aware of the force he is using—only of the fear twisting inside him, afraid of hearing an answer he can’t accept.

“Do you dislike being at home? Or do you feel bored and want to go out? Or…” Li Pu’s voice is calm, and his gaze is cool, but it remains fixed on Bai Gaoxing’s face. “Are you planning to never come back?”

“Can you tell me?”

The silence stretches, but after a long pause, Bai Gaoxing’s eyes finally move.

However, the shock in them slowly shifts into confusion.

Raising a hand, he suddenly cups Li Pu’s face, his expression tinged with concern.

Their proximity is too close, and the gesture is far too natural. The warmth of the man’s skin meets his fingertips with the smallest movement.

Li Pu’s expression darkens slightly, a flicker of anticipation flashing in his eyes.

But just as he is about to react, Bai Gaoxing speaks.

“…Adonis? Are you still in character?”

Li Pu freezes.

Bai Gaoxing, on the other hand, looks deeply worried.

As he emerges from his initial shock, the first possibility that springs to mind seems the most logical—Li Pu is still immersed in his character, and no one has noticed.

That’s too dangerous.

In that moment, Bai Gaoxing completely forgets about his own plans to leave. His only concern is Li Pu’s mental state.

“Do you know who I am?” he asks cautiously. “Have you not been resting well? Do you… need to see a doctor?”

Li Pu’s lips curl slightly, his eyes darkening with amusement.

He doesn’t expect this answer. But thinking back, it’s his own fault—he has shown Dabai too much of his restrained, repressed side in the past.

“I know exactly who you are,” Li Pu says gently. “Do you need me to prove it?”

Just as Bai Gaoxing is about to ask how, Li Pu’s face suddenly draws closer. The next thing he knows, the lips pressing against his are no longer gentle, but firm—undeniable.

“!?!”

Bai Gaoxing’s pupils shrink. His body, trapped against the door, stiffens. He instinctively tries to turn his head away, but a firm hand presses against the side of his face, preventing any escape. He has no choice but to endure the unexpected kiss.

Unlike the brief, shallow touches during filming, Li Pu’s movements are forceful in comparison, yet they carry an immeasurable tenderness. The deeper exploration, the mingling of lips and tongues, triggers delicate nerves, and the saliva that can’t be swallowed in time trickles down the corner of his mouth, forming a delicate, intimate thread.

He’s running out of breath.

Bai Gaoxing’s eyes widen, and he instinctively pushes against Li Pu’s shoulder, but he’s pulled even closer into the man’s embrace. A leg presses between his own, drawing them even closer. His vision becomes misty, the corners of his eyes slowly turning red as physiological tears slide down his face, soaking part of his collar.

“Haah…” Finally, Li Pu releases him.

Bai Gaoxing loses the ability to think. He gasps for air, his cheeks flushed, his body limp and weak, leaning against the knee pressed between his legs to stay upright.

It’s like fireworks exploding inside his head. He feels dizzy, and the blurry scene before him slowly becomes clearer. Li Pu’s handsome face appears in his view, the man staring at him with an unreadable emotion in his eyes.

What… does this mean?

A trace of disbelief stirs deep within Bai Gaoxing, and a thought that has long been buried, marked with a “not possible” label, is faintly lifted at the edges.

Could it be that Li Pu… also likes him?

This question escapes Bai Gaoxing’s lips before he even realizes it, and Li Pu quickly seizes the point. “Also?”

Bai Gaoxing nervously shuts his mouth again.

He has never considered this possibility, or rather, as soon as the thought crosses his mind, he dismisses it completely—he almost never entertains it, because in his mind, Li Pu could never like him.

But Li Pu doesn’t give him any chance to avoid the question. The man takes a small step back, giving him some breathing room. “‘Also’—what does that mean?”

Just like when he teaches French, there’s always a hint of curiosity in Li Pu’s calm expression, actively prompting him for answers.

But now, Bai Gaoxing can’t answer at all.

“Well…” Bai Gaoxing stammers, feeling warmth creeping up his chest. “Maybe it means the same thing as you?”

“I like you,” Li Pu’s voice remains calm. “You like me, then why do you want to leave?”

If those four words ring loudly in Bai Gaoxing’s ears, the question that follows is a tangled knot he can’t untie.

Li Pu… really likes him.

For a moment, Bai Gaoxing feels as if he’s dreaming. The worries that have plagued him melt away, and the bitter emotions he has buried in the dark finally taste a hint of sweetness.

But Li Pu isn’t going to let the matter rest.

Bai Gaoxing gives up resisting and blurts out everything that has been troubling him. “You’re a star. You have your career and good parents. I have nothing. I could disappear at any moment…” He grits his teeth before voicing the thing that troubles him the most. “Besides, being with another man is a big issue. We can’t get married. Aren’t you worried about your career? People would tear you apart, right?”

In his mind, any celebrity scandal involving love has an impact, not to mention that in the public perception of this country… same-sex relationships are still a niche.

“Hm?” Li Pu tilts his head slightly, looking puzzled. “Do you want to marry me?”

Bai Gaoxing: “…”

He has thought about it.

But he will never admit it!

Li Pu cups Bai Gaoxing’s face, watching his gaze wander, his cheeks reddening little by little, and a hint of a smile appears in his eyes.

He’s no longer a wutong parrot—more like a lovebird now.

The frustration that has been building inside him fades away completely. Instead, a quiet joy takes its place.

Nothing he has feared has happened. And in return, he has received an unexpected answer.

After calming the emotions that threaten to boil over inside, Li Pu finally answers Bai Gaoxing’s question. “Why not?”

“Huh?” Bai Gaoxing is momentarily stunned, then lowers his head. “If you mean going abroad…”

Li Pu raises an eyebrow, as if puzzled. “Going abroad? We can do it here.”

Bai Gaoxing: “?”

????

???????

Li Pu even takes out his phone and checks the calendar. “There are a few good auspicious days coming up. Which one do you like?”

Wait! Isn’t this progressing way too fast?!

Bai Gaoxing finds it hard to imagine hearing the words “auspicious day” from Li Pu’s mouth. He quickly grabs Li Pu’s arm. “Wait, wait!”

Seeing the man’s confused expression, Bai Gaoxing stammers, “What I mean is… uh, shouldn’t we think this over first? Don’t we need to tell your family? And other factors…” He struggles to explain. “Also… I’m not ready.”

It’s true—his mind is a mess. It’s overwhelming enough to realize they like each other, but how has the conversation suddenly shifted to marriage?!

It’s not that he doesn’t want to marry Li Pu, but… can they even get married in this country right now??

…

Looking down at the legal details on Li Pu’s phone screen, Bai Gaoxing falls into stunned silence.

This world—one that’s supposed to be so similar to his own—is, in some ways, vastly different.

The memories of a long-gone reality TV show flash through his mind, engulfing him.

“—I’m male!”

“—Male? I like that even more!”

…F*ck. Even the birds are into this now?!

The dark clouds outside clear, and the newly revealed sunlight pours in, flooding the living room with brightness. The suitcases near the door are bathed in a golden glow.

Bai Gaoxing sits at the corner of the sofa, staring blankly, his gaze unfocused.

The issue that has troubled him for so long is resolved—just like that. In hindsight, there had been signs. People had even asked him before if he and Li Pu were a couple. At the time, he had simply thought people these days were just too open-minded…

Bai Gaoxing groans and covers his head.

It’s definitely not his problem—who even searches for this stuff online!?

“Have you thought it through?”

The sofa beside him suddenly sinks, and a familiar presence leans in.

As a low voice murmurs next to his ear, warm breath brushes against his skin, sending a tingling sensation down his spine. Bai Gaoxing instinctively shrinks away, trying to slide to the side—Only for an arm to wrap around his waist, holding him firmly in place.

“Let me go!” he protests.

“No.” Li Pu denies him without hesitation and moves even closer.

The boy has too many past offenses. If he loosens his grip even slightly, the boy might just fly away.

Bai Gaoxing’s heart races, his face flushes, his gaze turns dazed, but his lips can’t help but curve into a smile.

He covers his face, trying to hide his overly stirred emotions.

Even now, he still feels that everything that has happened seems surreal, like he’s floating in a dream.

Have he and Li Pu really just smoothly ended up together like this?

“Hmm…” After calming down, Bai Gaoxing hesitates for a moment, then points to the information on the search engine. “But I just turned nineteen this year.”

The search results show: Men can only get married after turning twenty.

Li Pu falls silent.

He has to wait another year.

It’s hard to say whether he feels disappointed or regretful. A year is usually incredibly short, but to him now, it feels like an eternity.

He can’t wait any longer.

Temporarily setting that topic aside, Li Pu remembers what the boy said before he left. His eyes narrow slightly. “You just said you already had plans? What plans?”

He is very concerned about what the boy plans to do after leaving him.

Reminded of something he almost forgot, Bai Gaoxing’s eyes suddenly brighten. “Ah, right!”

Li Pu’s heart skips a beat. “What are you going to do?”

Bai Gaoxing stands up, then seriously and slowly says:

“I’m going to… take the university entrance exam!”
