Chapter 63: One Step Closer to the Dream of Unifying China

Zhan Chengyin gazed at the words “Unify China.”

China had been fragmented for ages, embroiled in endless conflicts for hundreds of years. The concept of unification had been proposed long ago. Even during the times of Yao and Shun, there were separate tribes, isolated from one another.

If the gods wished for him to unify China, no matter how difficult or treacherous the journey might be, he would fight for it, striving to fulfill her wish. He firmly wrote a single character on the paper: 「Yes!」

Ye Mumu saw Zhan Chengyin’s signed paper, holding it in both hands with a satisfied smile.

Look, Zhan Chengyin agreed! With the support of this young general, she was one step closer to her dream of uniting China.

She would keep this paper well, using it to encourage herself—and to push Zhan Chengyin.

She wrote to Zhan Chengyin: 「A shipment of grain will arrive tomorrow—estimated at three million pounds.」

「There are three carts of horse feed, both rough and fine. Set up shelters to store them.」

「There are also more than 300,000 stainless steel bowls. Post an announcement for the public: trade one intact porcelain bowl for a stainless steel one.」

「If Chu and Yong attack again, hold out for two more days! Qin Crossbows and the Mo Dao (blades/swords) will arrive in two days.”」

「The third batch of explosives is already on its way!」

Zhan Chengyin hoped the gods would stop sending food; the grain stockpile could last for years. And why did the gods need porcelain? Porcelain items were cheap and hardly worth trading for stainless steel bowls.

After the note was passed over, Ye Mumu didn’t send a reply. A few minutes later, water began flowing. He and Tian Qin covered a vase with fabric and moved it to a dried-up pond within the military camp. With an oilcloth covering the water source, they instructed trusted guards to protect it.

By morning, the dry pond should be full of water.

The Next Day.

Early in the morning, Ye Mumu received a call from the rice merchant. Three million pounds of rice and one million pounds of flour had been delivered to the warehouse guarded by Uncle Yang. The goods were weighed, inspected, and unloaded. Uncle Yang messaged her that the total quantity of grain matched the merchant’s report. Ye Mumu transferred the payment to the rice merchant and told him that they had enough rice for now, so he didn’t need to send more.

The rice merchant expressed regret. Last time, he’d delivered instant noodles, bottled water, and self-heating hot pots, and the large supermarket owner kept asking if he needed more, even at a discount. Yet Ye Mumu had declined this time.

The rice merchant called, “Miss Ye, I know you’re straightforward. Tell me what you need, and I’ll procure it for you. You know I have plenty of connections…”

Ye Mumu indeed had a request. “Can you supply horse feed?”

“For the fine feed: corn 30%, soybean meal 30%, barley 10%, trace elements 10%…”

“For rough feed: plant straw 50%, beet pulp 20%, rice bran 20%, wheat bran 10%… with added trace elements and salt!”

The rice merchant guaranteed, “My brother-in-law owns a rice mill. You’ll have all the raw materials you need. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you have enough. How much do you want?”

“Ten carts!”

The rice merchant was thrilled—another large deal.

“One cart holds 60 tons, so ten carts make 600 tons. Done!”

“Great, I’ll send a deposit now!”

After the call, Uncle Yang reported that the stainless steel bowls had arrived. He counted 300,000 of them. Ye Mumu didn’t go to the warehouse but sent the remaining payment to the manufacturer and let them handle the unloading. The manufacturer, after receiving the payment, mentioned they’d added complimentary stainless steel chopsticks and spoons, hoping for future cooperation.

Ye Mumu retrieved the vase from the stream, with no new message left. Zhan Chengyin must be busy!

After a quick wash and breakfast, she prepared to drive to the warehouse. With yesterday’s victory at Zhen Guan, she was in a good mood. In the car, she played music and drove slowly down the mountain.

Suddenly, the music stopped, and her phone began pinging continuously with incoming messages.

The messages kept coming.

She frowned, pulled over, and checked her phone.

“You deserved it when your parents died!”

“How can you shamelessly hoard the family estate and try to kill your grandmother?”

“I heard you even hired people to beat up your relatives? If you were in my hometown, I’d make sure you’d never leave your bed!”

“You’re a girl—how dare you hog the family assets and try to throw your grandma, uncle, aunt, and cousins out on the street? How can you be so heartless?”

“Where do you live? I’m going to throw paint on your door!”

Seeing these messages, Ye Mumu’s brows furrowed deeply. She was furious! The Ye family was causing trouble again, unwilling to stop until they got what they wanted. What were they up to this time?

Fuli Group’s secretary called her.

“Miss Ye, the group hopes you’ll handle your private affairs. Your family’s estate dispute has gone viral. Our official website is flooded with negative comments, and Fuli Group’s stock has dropped by four percent.”

“If you don’t resolve this matter, the board might forcefully remove you from your shareholder position.”

With that, he hung up without any courtesy.

Furious, Ye Mumu opened Weibo to find the trending topics.

#YeMumuAssaultsFamily#

#YeMumuSuesRelatives#

#Don’tBeLikeYeMumu#

She clicked on a random video.

In it, her uncle, Ye Yinghua, appeared bruised, with his head wrapped in blood-soaked bandages. He looked miserable as he spoke to the reporters.

“Mr. Ye, Miss Ye Mumu is your niece. Why did she hire people to attack you?”

Ye Yinghua wiped his tears and, choking up, answered the reporter.

“When my brother first started his business, we siblings pooled our money to help him build what is now Fuli Group.”

“But after he and his wife passed away in a car accident, our niece no longer acknowledged us.”

“Now, she wants to take away our homes and cars, forcing us, her elders, into a dead end.”

“Reporter, look—this is the court summons she sent, to seize our homes, cars, and savings, leaving us no way to survive.”

“She inherited billions, with dozens of properties, countless storefronts, luxury cars, and villas, yet she won’t give us even one shelter. She wants us thrown out!”

“She’s truly heartless!”

“Reporter, please help us!”

Tears and snot running down his face, Ye Yinghua cried pitifully to the reporter, far from the arrogant man who’d stood in front of her car the other day, daring her to run him over.

Not only her uncle but also her eldest uncle Ye Hesheng, cousin Ye Xin, and aunt Ye Chunyu—each of them stood in front of the media, bruised and battered, accusing Ye Mumu of her cruelty.

They claimed she nearly killed her grandmother and had people assault them, tying bags over their heads and beating them to death.

The scandal had severe repercussions, making headlines, even prompting police intervention.

Just then, the property manager called.

“Miss Ye, the police have contacted the property. Don’t worry; we’ll keep quiet and won’t reveal anything. But, you know, it would be nice to have some… compensation?”

Ye Mumu didn’t respond immediately, sensing a potential trap.

“My lawyer will contact you shortly.”

The manager didn’t expect her reply and chuckled awkwardly.

“No one’s around. I didn’t expect your relatives to be this shameless, even bringing it online.”

“I’ve dealt with plenty of people, but it’s rare to see this level of shamelessness.”

“Rest assured, once I’m paid, I’ll handle everything properly for you.”

After hanging up, she received a police summons.

Before going, she called her lawyer Xu for advice.
