- Chapter 20 Part 2 - General, Live Chickens
After leaving the antique shop, Ye Mumu headed to the countryside.
It was watermelon season.
Many farmers had set up stalls by the roadside to sell watermelons, with their fields just behind them.
Fruit merchants were buying the watermelons for thirty cents per jin (500 grams).
Ye Mumu offered fifty cents per jin, proposing to buy entire fields.
The farmers were overjoyed, spreading the news from house to house.
She contacted the same truck drivers from the market as before, summoning them to the countryside to transport the melons.
The quantity was so large that the driver called several more trucks to help.
The farmers pitched in to help load the melons.
Ye Mumu paid on the spot.
When other farmers in the village heard she was paying fifty cents per jin, they all urged her to buy from them as well.
She ended up buying all the watermelons in the village.
She also bought potatoes, corn, peaches…
And a large number of farm-fresh eggs, as well as over twenty roosters and hens.
They filled five large trucks!

In the afternoon, she let Uncle Yang finish work early. She then went back home to retrieve the vase and transported it to the warehouse.
The watermelons and other produce were unloaded and stored in the second warehouse.
Meanwhile, Zhan Chengyin was in the military camp.
A large pond had been dug in the camp specifically for storing water.
When Zhan Chengyin saw the water supply cut off, he knew Ye Mumu was about to send supplies.
He and his soldiers moved into a new tent, which had been deliberately made twice as large.
But as soon as they finished setting up, a load of watermelons dropped from above!
The melons smashed into the soldiers, leaving them with bumps on their heads.
Everyone quickly ran out of the tent.
This time, even Zhan Chengyin didn’t dare to linger.
Standing outside, they watched as the new tent once again tore open, with an endless stream of watermelons rolling out.
There were so many that even the nearby tents weren’t spared.
It was as if it were raining watermelons, falling onto the sandy yellow earth.
After the watermelons came long beans, eggplants, potatoes, and cucumbers, all falling from the sky.
Then a large number of eggs dropped, surprisingly unbroken, landing gently on the sandy ground.
Finally, everyone saw roosters and hens.
As soon as they landed, the birds flapped their wings and crowed loudly.
“General, are those chickens—live chickens?”
“After a whole year, I’ve finally seen a live chicken!”
“With chickens, we’ll have eggs, and then we can hatch more chickens… Our camp will have an endless supply of eggs to eat.”
Everyone busied themselves catching chickens, all very happy.
When things stopped falling, Ye Mumu sent a note: 「Prepare a warehouse for weapons. The first batch of equipment will be delivered soon.」
Reading the note, Zhan Chengyin’s expression became serious, hiding his excitement.
Armor, Tang Mo Dao, and Qin Crossbows… were they all arriving?
He immediately summoned Song Duo and had him clear out one of the weapon warehouses.
As soon as it was ready, countless long swords fell from the sky, neatly piling up in the corner.
Song Duo unsheathed one of the swords. The blade was made of fine steel, reflecting people’s shadows.
It had already been sharpened. When a horse hair was blown across it, the hair was cleanly sliced in two.
Song Duo exclaimed with delight, “General, what excellent swords! Made of fine steel, sharp and durable—able to slice a hair blown across the blade!”
