- Chapter 2 Part 1 - General, It's Really Water!
Zhan Chengyin suddenly turned around. The dusty vase against the wall was gushing water continuously.
The water flow was strong, soaking his and Military Doctor Song’s clothes.
He abruptly stood up, his hands clenched and slightly trembling.
“Is this… water?”
No one had seen water for nearly half a year. Doctor Song cupped his hands and drank.
It was sweet and refreshing—it was real water!
He excitedly shouted, “General, it really is water!”
The soldiers had been hoping for water daily for half a year.
They had dug underground wells, over a dozen of them, each more than a hundred meters deep, but all they found was dry, yellow sand—never a drop of water.
Doctor Song took a chipped bowl and filled it with water for the general, offering it with trembling hands.
“General, please try it.”
Zhan Chengyin took the bowl with one hand and sipped. It was sweet and refreshing, clean water.
He drank it all at once!
“Heaven-sent sweet dew, heaven has not abandoned our Zhan family army!”
As he spoke, several soldiers joyfully rushed over, cupping water in their hands and gulping it down.
Doctor Song poured another bowl for the general to drink.
The soldiers drank happily, saying, “General, this is holy water from the gods, a good omen. We’ll surely defeat the barbarians in the coming battle!”
With water, they could grow crops. All difficulties would be easily solved!
Zhan Chengyin stood tall with his hand behind his back.
At sixteen, he had galloped across battlefields. At seventeen, he made a name for himself. At eighteen, he led a few hundred men on a light assault into the enemy camp to take the head of a warlord.
At twenty, he was granted a noble title.
He was the youngest general in the Great Qi Dynasty in a hundred years, the renowned Marquis of Ningguan.
Even the heavens helped him in his most desperate moment, bestowing divine water.
With this victory, the Zhan family army would surely win.
Zhan Chengyin commanded, “Bring two large water barrels into the house. When one vat is full, move it out.”
“Notify the soldiers to bring water bottles and line up for water. For the citizens in the city, one person per household can come for water.”
“Yes, General!” Chen Kui replied.
“This matter must not be leaked.”
Everyone knelt to receive the order!
Chen Kui left the courtyard and quickly notified soldiers to bring water bags.
Nearby citizens were the first to know, forming long queues at the door.
The soldiers formed three queues, while the citizens formed five.
The vase mouth was tilted, with a large vat below to catch the water.
When a vat was full, it was carried to the general’s door.
Groups of eight took turns, immediately replaced by the next group after getting water.
Soon, the whole city knew about the divine water at the general’s house. The queue for water stretched for miles…

Ye Mumu pointed a hose at the vase. She crouched down, resting her chin on her hands, her big eyes fixed on the vase.
One hour, two hours… the vase was still not full!
Tired of squatting, she lay on the sofa.
At least the vase was no longer spewing out trash.
But it sure could hold a lot!
She yawned and fell asleep to the sound of flowing water.
After her parents passed away, she had been muddling through life, as if caught in a fog of depression.
Sometimes she couldn’t sleep.
Sometimes she slept but couldn’t wake up.
When she was woken by a phone call the next day, it was already noon.
She had over ten missed calls on her phone.
All from the property management.
She answered the call.
“Hello, Miss Ye? Did you leave a faucet running? Our system shows that you’ve used over 100 tons of water in a single day!”
“If we can’t reach you, we’ll have to call the police. Our community has strict water monitoring. Remember that dismemberment case that made national news? They used over eighty tons of water in one night, you know…”
Ye Mumu was scared awake immediately. She saw the faucet still running.
The vase still wasn’t full, the carpet was dry, not a drop of water had leaked out.
Her family’s vase had really become magical.
It could hold so much!
