- Chapter 17 Part 2 - Forging Weapons
He knew Ye Mumu had sent this steel for the city walls, but updating their weapons took priority.
“Proceed,” he said. “Gather more craftsmen. If needed, recruit civilians.”
“Tian Qin, issue a recruitment notice. Anyone hired will receive two buckets of rice, one bucket of flour, and two heads of cabbage per month. During forging, provide two meals and lodging daily.”
Song Duo beamed, “Thank you, General!”
Such rewards would surely attract many, hastening the forging process!
Song Duo organized the transport of the coal. Others watched enviously as he took charge of the precious steel.

Meanwhile, Ye Mumu’s ordered cement, bricks, and the remaining 1,800 bags of rice arrived at the warehouse. Storing cement with food was unwise, so she asked Uncle Yang to open the second warehouse.
The first warehouse held materials; the second, food and produce.
Uncle Yang, puzzled by the large order but not questioning it, opened the second warehouse for the rice merchant’s cart.
As Ye Mumu arrived, Uncle Yang noted it was lunchtime, greeted her, and left to eat.
The merchant, seeing such a young buyer, inquired curiously about the large purchase.
“There’s flooding in the south. I’m donating for charity,” Ye Mumu explained.
Impressed, he offered his card. “Call if you need more. I can arrange several truckloads of rice and flour.”
Ye Mumu’s eyes lit up. “How long would it take to deliver?”
“20,000 bags of rice in three days.”
“Deal!” she replied promptly.
“For flood relief, rafts, water, instant noodles, sausages, self-heating meals might be better. I can supply those too.”
Ye Mumu hesitated, knowing she had been using charity as an excuse to gather supplies but had never actually donated anything. This could raise suspicion, even from Uncle Yang.
“Alright,” she said. “Order everything and deliver it to this warehouse.”
The merchant was thrilled to land such a big order. After unloading the goods, Ye Mumu paid the remaining balance and placed a deposit for the next batch. The merchant, excited by the large sale, went off to arrange the shipment.
Looking at the packed warehouse, Ye Mumu felt relieved. This would sustain Zhan Chengyin’s forces for a while.
She wrote a note:「1,800 bags of rice, 500 flour, plus bricks and cement arrived. Sending food first. Find a large storage space.」
After sending it, she waited, then closed the warehouse and placed the vase centrally.
Whoosh…
The warehouse emptied instantly.
Exhausted from the larger transfer, Ye Mumu rested before writing another note:「 Prepare a larger warehouse. Bricks and cement coming soon!」
Ten minutes later, she received an 「Understood.」
She then transferred the construction materials.
Completely drained, she collapsed into a chair, gulping water.
Ye Mumu messaged Uncle Yang that she’d stay for the afternoon, then ordered a banner reading “Flood Relief Supplies Donation,” which was promptly delivered and hung.
