Chapter 87 – Did the Elven King See Him?

The ancient war scene was truly magnificent, with masters clashing in earth-shattering combat.

Shu Li was grateful this was just an illusion. Had he recklessly appeared on such a colossal battlefield with his current strength, he would have been instantly annihilated.

The Mage Sovereigns were terrifying, each possessing the power to move mountains, overturn seas, and shift the stars.

After navigating through layers of magical “special effects,” Shu Li finally reached the Silver Dragon carrying the Elven King.

At first glance, he mistook the dragon for Hammon.

But Hammon was the young king of the Dragon Clan, who hadn’t even hatched ten thousand years ago. Clearly, this Silver Dragon aiding the Elven King wasn’t him.

Upon closer inspection, Shu Li noticed a row of golden scales atop the dragon’s head—a feature Hammon lacked.

This must be Hammon’s elder, Shu Li thought.

Landing on the dragon’s back, Shu Li approached the Elven King. He observed that the king didn’t even need a magic wand; with a mere wave of his hand, he unleashed powerful magical skills. He seamlessly switched between the Seven-Element Magic—Wind, Fire, Water, Earth, Wood, Light, and Darkness—wielding them with unparalleled mastery.

What truly astonished Shu Li was the king’s ability to combine two elements, manifesting Lightning and Ice Attribute magic.

How incredible!

Shu Li flew around the Elven King, circling him as he watched the king’s heroic battle stance. His tender green eyes shone with pure admiration.

The Elven King’s magic spells were remarkably concise, sometimes requiring only two words to unleash attacks with the force of a superstorm.

As everyone knows, the shorter the spell, the weaker its power. However, with sufficient strength, one can overwhelm opponents through sheer force.

Having grown accustomed to the Elven King’s gentle demeanor, Shu Li found it impossible to imagine the terrifying figure he became in battle.

Wielding power approaching that of a Celestial Being and fighting the Death God to a standstill, the Elven King led the Dark Forces to one defeat after another.

The Wood Spirit acted like a “power bank,” continuously supplying the Elven King with elemental energy.

War is cruel. Even with the Elven forces gaining the upper hand, casualties remained high.

When Shu Li saw an Elf cleaved in two by the Death God’s scythe, he let out a horrified gasp.

Though he had lived in the Otherworld for ten years and witnessed bloody events, the sheer scale of the slaughter before him nearly suffocated his fragile heart.

Enraged by the slaughter of their Clan Members, the Elves launched a fierce counterattack.

The Silver Dragon suddenly accelerated, startling Shu Li. He instinctively reached for the Elven King’s hair, but instead grabbed the corner of his cloak.

Immediately, the world spun violently.

The Silver Dragon executed a series of daring aerial maneuvers, weaving skillfully through chaotic magic spells. A magnificent sword materialized in the Elven King’s hand, which he swung with overwhelming force. Sword qi erupted in a fan-shaped arc, striking down enemies one by one and severing an enemy soldier’s arm in a single, decisive strike.

Shu Li clung to the billowing cloak, tossed up and down, his head spinning so violently he nearly vomited.

Only when the Silver Dragon finally stabilized its flight did Shu Li regain his senses. He clung pitifully to the Elven King’s cloak, his face ashen.

He finally understood how incredible fighter pilots truly were!

Performing 720-degree barrel rolls and plummeting from extreme heights at various angles, the intense weightlessness made him believe he was about to die at any moment.

As Shu Li recovered, pressed against the cloak’s smooth fabric, he suddenly froze.

Wait—

Wasn’t this supposed to be an illusion?

Earlier, magical attacks had passed right through his body. Why could he now touch solid objects?

He instinctively pinched his cheek.

Ouch! That hurts!

His eyes widened in disbelief, his delicate features displaying utter astonishment.

Could it be that, just like before, he had materialized within the illusion?

Or had he somehow transmigrated through time and space?

To test his theory, Shu Li began climbing up the Elven King’s cloak. The fabric billowed violently, making the ascent treacherous. He scrambled upward with hands and feet, terrified that if he let go, he would tumble head over heels and be blown away by the wind.

After what felt like an eternity, he finally reached the Elven King’s shoulder. Gripping the cloak’s shoulder clasp tightly, he wedged his feet into the clasp’s loops to secure himself, then instinctively wrapped his arms around the Elven King’s golden hair.

Sensing something, the Elven King glanced sideways at his shoulder. A meteor-like fireball hurtled toward him. He swiftly countered, extending his swordless hand and coldly chanting, “Tempestuous Gale!”

In an instant, a violent tornado, mixed with torrential rain, surged toward the fireball. It not only extinguished the Water Sphere but also had enough force to strike the Necromancer who had cast the meteor-like fireball.

“Aaaah—!”

The Necromancer, perched atop the giant magical beast, let out a bloodcurdling scream as the tornado tore him to shreds.

The beast’s head was severed, blood gushing as it crashed to the ground.

Shu Li blurted out in astonishment, “King! You’re amazing!”

The Elven King parried another wave of attacks with his sword, then guided the Silver Dragon to a relatively safe spot. Turning his head, he asked, “Who are you? And why are you squatting on my shoulder?”

“Ah?” Shu Li stared blankly. “You… you can see me?”

“To my eyes, you’re just a small green light,” the Elven King replied, his gaze sweeping the surroundings warily as he occasionally swung his sword to repel the encroaching enemies.

Shu Li swallowed hard and stammered, “I… I’m Sperien from the Faerie Forest. I… I was born ten thousand years after the Great Divine War…”

The Elven King chanted a spell, and countless vines erupted from the ground, ensnaring the rampaging Skeleton Legion.

The other elves charged forward in perfect coordination, each displaying their unique abilities to annihilate the skeletons.

Seizing a moment of respite, the Elven King asked, “Since you’re a Little Fairy from ten thousand years in the future, why have you appeared here?”

“I… I don’t know. I came to the northern part of the Elven Kingdom to find the Wood Spirit…” Shu Li quickly explained his purpose and how he had entered the Illusion.

The Elven King listened to the young fairy’s explanation while continuing to battle.

After finishing his report, Shu Li nervously gazed at the Elven King’s perfect profile, awaiting his response.

The Elven King slew another wave of enemies, then raised his sword and soared toward the Death God.

“How old are you?” the Elven King asked.

“Ah? Ten… ten years old,” Shu Li answered instinctively.

The Elven King smiled faintly, then suddenly reached out and gathered the green light from his shoulder, casually tossing it toward the nearby Wood Spirit.

“Fenris, send him back.”

“Eep—!”

Shu Li tumbled through the air like a small ball, wrapped in a Green Vine that dragged him before the Wood Spirit.

The Wood Spirit scrutinized the shadowy figure within the green light, asking, “Who are you, and where do you come from?”

Shu Li shook his dizzy head and glanced at the Silver Dragon and Elven King, locked in fierce combat with the Death God. “I… I’m Sperien from the Faerie Forest, from ten thousand years in the future…”

“Since you’re from ten thousand years in the future, you should return immediately—” The Wood Spirit flicked her vine, sending the green Light Orb encasing Shu Li hurtling into the sky.

“Ahhh—I came to find you—”

The Light Orb transformed into starlight and vanished without a trace, but the young fairy’s clear voice still echoed in the air.

Thud!

Shu Li landed hard on his backside in the scorched earth, staring dumbfounded at the Iron Clump beside him.

Oh, I can’t call it an Iron Clump anymore.

The black exterior had peeled away, revealing intricate golden patterns—a true Emblem, gleaming brilliantly.

What truly shocked Shu Li was the fresh green vine now attached to the Emblem.

Is this… the Green Vine from the Wood Spirit’s hand?

He scrambled to his feet and cautiously touched the thorny vine, his mind racing with questions.

What exactly just happened?

If it was an Illusion, why could the Elven King and Wood Spirit see him? And how did this vine follow him into reality?

If it wasn’t an Illusion, why were the magic attacks unable to harm him?

Even more baffling was how the Elven King had discovered him twice, directly or indirectly sending him out of the Illusion.

Shu Li tapped his forehead, utterly bewildered.

Grumble—

His stomach growled loudly.

He looked up at the sky and saw only a sliver of sunset lingering on the horizon.

Crap!

He had to leave immediately!

The Giant Lizard had warned him that the Basin was extremely dangerous at night, haunted by the spirits of warriors who had fallen in battle ten thousand years ago.

Shu Li hastily grabbed the Green Vine, intending to store it in his Storage Ring. But the vine’s thorns were too sharp, piercing his finger.

“Sss—!”

Shu Li winced in pain, instinctively dropping the vine and sucking on his bleeding finger.

The blood-stained Green Vine fell onto the scorched earth, emitting a blinding green light.

What’s happening?

Shu Li spread his wings and flapped furiously, soaring into the air.

He was fast, but the Green Vine grew even faster. The Emblem, now revealed in its true form, floated in the air, casting a golden beam of light onto the vine.

The Green Vine absorbed the Emblem’s power, growing exponentially: one became two, two became four, four became eight, eight became sixteen… doubling with each split.

Terrified, Shu Li turned and fled.

This scene was too bizarre. Why would he stay and risk being entangled by the vine?

He flapped his wings frantically, surging upward. The Green Vine spread wildly. When he glanced back from outside the Basin, he was shocked to see the entire area overrun by the vine, which was now aggressively invading the surrounding desert.

Shu Li, drenched in sweat, was completely bewildered by the sight.

As the Green Vine expanded its territory, the stench of decay gradually vanished, replaced by the fresh scent of grass and herbs.

To Shu Li’s astonishment, he discovered that the ground was not only covered in Green Vines but also teeming with resilient wildflowers and grasses.

This barren land was being restored to life!

It was almost unbelievable!

Instead of fleeing, Shu Li cautiously approached the center of the Green Vine.

The Emblem continued to radiate a brilliant light, as if it contained boundless power.

Who could have imagined that the insignificant Iron Clump given to him by the Giant Lizard would turn out to be such a miraculous treasure?

As he stared at the totem on the Emblem, it grew increasingly familiar.

Could this be… the Elven King’s personal Emblem?

To confirm he wasn’t seeing things, Shu Li flapped his wings and leaned in for a closer look.

Before he could identify it clearly, another phenomenon occurred. A Fruit formed at the center of the Green Vine, rapidly expanding from a small bud to a towering two meters in height within mere breaths.

Shu Li’s wings twitched, and he retreated from the Fruit.

Who knew what kind of terrifying monster might emerge from within?

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The Fruit split open automatically, its cracks spreading like a spiderweb across its surface. As the fissures widened, something resembling thin snakes began to slither out from the gaps.

Aaaaaah!

Shu Li clamped his hand over his mouth.

It was indeed a monster!

Without hesitation, he shot into the sky, survival taking precedence.

Crackle! Pop!

The Fruit’s shell shattered, transforming into countless streaks of green light that scattered in all directions. Where the light touched the ground, towering trees sprang up from the earth.

Mid-flight, Shu Li froze in shock.

The desolate desert had vanished, replaced by lush greenery—towering trees and vibrant flowers. The barren northern lands, desolate for millennia, had transformed into a dense forest.

“You must be… Sperien?”

A gentle voice startled Shu Li, stiffening his entire body. He turned his head robotically, his clear eyes reflecting the Wood Spirit’s figure.

The Wood Spirit looked exactly as she had in the Illusion, seated gracefully on a chair woven from Green Vines, observing the small young fairy with keen interest.

“Y-y-y-you…” Shu Li stammered, tongue-tied. “Where did you come from?”

Hadn’t the Elven King said that all the Elemental Spirits had vanished after the War of the Gods? He had come to this ancient battlefield ruins today seeking clues, never imagining he would actually summon the Wood Spirit.

Yet, against all odds, fortune had smiled upon him. The Wood Spirit had materialized.

Not only had she appeared, but she had also transformed the desolate battlefield back into a thriving forest.

Is this the Essence of Wood?

The Wood Spirit rose, a cloud of mist swirling beneath her feet as she floated closer to the Little Fairy. She extended a slender finger and gently touched his forehead.

“Didn’t you bring me here?” she asked with a smile.

“Huh?” Shu Li was utterly bewildered.

In the next instant, his forehead burned as a pure, surging power flooded his body.

“Ugh—!”

Shu Li clutched his forehead, groaning in pain. The immense power surging through him threatened to explode his body.

No!

I can’t explode!

He hadn’t become a Hero yet, hadn’t found his way home, and hadn’t reunited with his family. How could he die here?

Waaah—

This power was the pure Essence of Wood. Couldn’t it have given him a warning first, so he could at least prepare himself mentally?

Shu Li’s tiny body plummeted through the air, about to fall into the gap between the Green Vines when a green light enveloped him.

The Wood Spirit raised her hand, and Shu Li floated before her. She frowned slightly and chanted an ancient spell.

As the spell echoed, a blinding pillar of light erupted from Shu Li’s body, shooting straight into the heavens.

In the deep blue sky, hundreds of Unicorns, each carrying an Elf, circled endlessly. The Elven King, leading the procession, saw the soaring pillar of light. His eyes darkened as he steered his Unicorn toward the radiant column, the other Elves following without hesitation.

When they reached the source of the light, the Unicorns swooped down and landed gracefully.

The Elves gazed intently ahead, their eyes shining with purpose.

The Elven King dismounted his Unicorn, stepped onto the Green Vine, and removed his cloak as he approached the pillar of light. Gently, he wrapped the golden-haired young fairy in his cloak.

Unaware that he had transformed from a miniature figure into a normal ten-year-old boy, Shu Li rested peacefully in the Elven King’s arms, fast asleep.

Hello, guys! Translator here.

I just want to let you know that there are a lot of details in this story that I need to keep track of for the sake of translation consistency. Unfortunately, my database isn’t perfect, and sometimes I miss repeated terms written differently—either in traditional or simplified Chinese.

I’m also just a human being, so errors and mistakes are inevitable. If you happen to notice any inconsistencies, I apologize in advance.

Thank you very much, and happy reading~!
