- Chapter 78 - The Final Step, Fatal Blow!
Chen Shu’s words. Each syllable reached everyone’s ears. The audience in front of their screens widened their eyes in shock. They couldn’t believe it. After everything, the diary’s author was pinned back onto Zeng Zhiwei? So, was everything a scheme orchestrated by Zeng Zhiwei himself?
What?
“I’m so confused. Someone smart, explain this to me.”
“Chen Shu’s logic is: Zeng Zhiwei wrote the diary to frame Chen Shu, with the motive of keeping Su Xiaoxiao all to himself, so Chen Shu wouldn’t interfere with them. But he never expected Chen Shu to clear his name, escaping from the trap.
Desperate, Zeng Zhiwei let it slip about the diary, making the police believe Su Xiaoxiao was the mastermind. Then, he took advantage of Su Xiaoxiao’s belief that Chen Shu wrote the diary, dragging him down with her.
But because of their deep sibling bond, Su Xiaoxiao took the blame for Chen Shu instead!”
“Holy crap, he actually made this explanation work!”
“Chen Shu’s reasoning is logical and well-structured. It not only explains Zeng Zhiwei’s motive but also gives Su Xiaoxiao a way out.”
“Aaaah, my brain is about to explode!”
“Damn, he really turned this diary into an art form.”
“Diary: Who the hell actually wrote me?!”
The entire internet exploded. No one expected Chen Shu to once again pin the diary’s authorship on Zeng Zhiwei in this way.
“#WhoWroteTheDiary” shot to the top of the trending list. Some clueless bystanders clicked into the livestream and were stunned. They all agreed, “This brother is totally normal, but that psycho father deserves to die. Just to satisfy his possessiveness, he tried to frame his own brother? He’s not even human!”
But then, as they scrolled through the comments, they realized… wait. The diary was actually written by Chen Shu? These unsuspecting netizens immediately lost it.
“Wait, is he insane?”
“So he’s the real psycho?! Holy crap.”
“Ohhh, I get it now. He originally wanted to use the diary to protect himself, but when his sister didn’t betray him, he suddenly had the urge to save her instead.”
“The sibling bond is real!”
“The key thing is that the diary is designed so well. No matter what happens, he has a way to counter it. Even if his sister had betrayed him, he could’ve cleared his name through handwriting analysis. This is absolutely insane!”
At the Criminal Investigation Department Office. After listening to Chen Shu’s deduction, Wang Zheng immediately rushed to Su Xiaoxiao’s interrogation room.
He slammed his palm onto the table and demanded, “Su Xiaoxiao, tell the truth! Did you write this diary?”
Su Xiaoxiao flinched at the sudden noise. She didn’t know how to answer! She knew nothing about this diary. What if she said the wrong thing? Should she say yes or no?
Suddenly, she glanced sideways through the slightly open iron door and saw Chen Shu standing in the hallway. If her brother had come to verify the handwriting, that meant he was helping her. Besides, from start to finish, she hadn’t done anything. She wasn’t guilty of any crime.
So, she decided to tell the truth…
“No,” Su Xiaoxiao lifted her head and looked straight at Wang Zheng. Her voice was firm and unwavering.
“No?” Wang Zheng was so angry his teeth clenched. “Then why did you say earlier that you wrote it? Why did you confess? What exactly are you trying to hide?”
Su Xiaoxiao answered, “I… I thought my brother wrote the diary. I thought he planned everything. I wanted to take the blame for him. I’m sorry, Officer Wang. I was lying earlier. But now, I swear, every word I’m saying is the truth!”
Silence. The entire livestream fell into dead silence. Honesty. That was the real killing move.
“Chen Shu is seriously a psychopath. Who could go up against him?”
“If I were Wang Zheng, I’d have fainted already. First, I thought Chen Shu killed Liang Wei. Then, I thought it was Zeng Zhiwei. After the diary was exposed, I believed Su Xiaoxiao was the mastermind. And now, after all these twists and turns, you’re telling me Zeng Zhiwei was the real puppet master all along?!”
“Su Xiaoxiao did nothing wrong. Telling the truth is what a good girl should do.”
Then, Wang Zheng left the room and headed straight to Zeng Zhiwei’s interrogation cell.
BANG! He shoved the door open. Inside, Zeng Zhiwei looked extremely uneasy.
“Zeng Zhiwei, tell me the truth right now. Who wrote the diary?” Wang Zheng demanded.
Zeng Zhiwei protested, “It wasn’t me! I found this diary in my daughter’s room. Officer Wang, I swear, I didn’t write it!”
“I’m asking you one last time. Are you absolutely sure it wasn’t you?”
Wang Zheng took a step forward. His middle-aged figure carried an imposing, experienced aura that made it hard to breathe.
Honestly, Wang Zheng was getting desperate. He had never handled such a messy case before. But now, all the evidence pointed to Zeng Zhiwei. The handwriting analysis confirmed it was his. Su Xiaoxiao, originally a suspect, had denied any involvement. It couldn’t have been Chen Shu, right?
The call records showed he was almost framed and nearly thrown into prison. Su Xiaoxiao even mistakenly accused him at one point. If there was one person least likely to be the culprit, it was Chen Shu.
“Speak,” Wang Zheng stared into Zeng Zhiwei’s eyes.
Zeng Zhiwei was on the verge of tears. He felt utterly trapped. He was certain he hadn’t written that diary. He found it in his daughter’s room.
“Dad, are you trying to kill your own daughter?” Suddenly, a voice shouted from the hallway.
It was Chen Shu.
“Hey! Chen Shu, shut up! Do not interfere with the interrogation!” Qin Min rushed forward, pulling Chen Shu back.
Chen Shu struggled in the hallway, shouting again, “She’s your daughter! The daughter you love the most!”
“Shut up! No disrupting the interrogation!” Su Haoran also stepped in, helping Qin Min drag Chen Shu back to the office.
Qin Min handed him a cup of hot water. “I know you’re anxious, but what you just did was completely against regulations.”
“Thank you,” Chen Shu took the disposable cup and took a sip. “Sorry, I got too emotional. I just don’t want my sister to suffer injustice.”
“Mm.” Qin Min nodded and warned, “Just stay here. Don’t go anywhere.”
“Alright.” Chen Shu touched the rim of the cup with his lips, and then, he smiled. A smile filled with absolute certainty. The final step of his fatal plan was complete.
The show was about to end.
Inside the interrogation room, Zeng Zhiwei trembled at the sound of Chen Shu’s voice. His mind blurred for a moment before it suddenly clicked. This diary, his daughter wrote it. That meant his daughter deliberately wrote it to manipulate him into killing Liang Wei?
She planned it all along! His heart twisted in pain. The deep love he had for his daughter felt like it was being torn apart.
What should he do now? The police still didn’t know the diary was his daughter’s doing. Should he take the blame for her?
“Heh.” Zeng Zhiwei slumped into his chair, feeling an overwhelming sense of helplessness. He had loved his daughter too much, so much that she found him repulsive. So, she set this entire plan in motion to get rid of him.
And now, she was about to be exposed…
“It was…”
“Officer Wang, you’re right.”
