From the previously retrieved surveillance footage, the general shape of the suitcase could be seen. However, its internal structure remained unknown.

Some suitcases may look small but have a surprisingly large capacity, while others appear big yet have a complicated structure with multiple hidden compartments, making it impossible to fit a person inside.

In the footage, the suitcase was being dragged by Liang Wei. It was about a meter tall, quite large.

But what about its internal structure?

That was still unclear!

“Zeng Zhiwei is in danger! Chen Shu really found a loophole.”

“Chen Shu is indeed tall. Even if he could fit inside, he wouldn’t be able to move, let alone execute a lethal attack when Liang Wei unzipped the suitcase!”

“Exactly! On the other hand, Zeng Zhiwei, though chubby, is short enough to easily hide inside. He could even zip it up himself after getting in.”

“My god, how did Chen Shu think of this? This seems like his only way to clear his name.”

At West Suburb River, a place where one could go ashore.

Wang Zheng and his team stood at the riverbank while a group of officers waded through the water, carrying a black suitcase.

“It’s really here,” Wang Zheng was shocked, impressed by Chen Shu’s deduction skills.

They opened the suitcase, finding it stuffed with rocks.

After clearing the stones, Qin Min squatted down, carefully examined it, and said, “Captain Wang, Haoran, there’s no mistake, this is the suitcase from the surveillance footage.”

“It’s made of sheepskin, meaning it could float and serve as a ‘boat.’ Looks like Chen Shu’s theory was spot on. The murderer used this suitcase to float down the East City River and come ashore here.”

“Also, this isn’t an extra-large suitcase, only about 28 inches. Even if Chen Shu were inside, he would have been forcefully crammed in with no room to move. This suitcase could only hold someone around 1.5 meters tall.”

Hearing this, Wang Zheng nodded. “So, Chen Shu couldn’t have committed the murder.”

“Wait,” Su Haoran suddenly called out. “Captain Wang, don’t you think something’s off?”

“What is it?” Wang Zheng asked.

“Even though all the evidence checks out, where did Chen Shu get the confidence to say that finding the suitcase would prove his innocence?” Su Haoran frowned. “Chen Shu gives me the feeling that he’s overly familiar with this case, he knows the murderer’s height, the suitcase’s dimensions, and even the escape method better than we do!”

“Haoran, you’re overthinking this,” Qin Min countered. “Chen Shu was framed and had no choice but to gamble on the suitcase. It’s not confidence, it was his only option, so he had to be firm about it.”

“Yeah, Qin Min makes sense. Chen Shu suffered so much being falsely accused, of course, he had to seize his chance.”

“Finally, he’s cleared his name.”

“Yeah, he was just a bystander on this show and ended up in an interrogation room. Who wouldn’t be frustrated?”

Back at the interrogation room no. 1. Chen Shu leaned back in his chair, eyes closed, relaxing his body. In the dim light, his face was partially obscured, but the faint smirk at the corner of his lips was unmistakable.

Zeng Zhiwei framed him? Used him as a scapegoat? Heh. From this moment on, the roles were reversed.

The real show was just beginning…

At the Traffic Control Bureau, Su Haoran began retrieving surveillance footage. “Chen Shu is cleared. Now, we start a thorough investigation on Zeng Zhiwei, there’s something very wrong with him.”

“Earlier, Zeng Zhiwei heard about his daughter and rushed back to Haicheng by plane.”

“I’m pulling up the airport surveillance now!”

Su Haoran worked quickly, and soon, the screen displayed footage from April 24 at Haicheng Airport. He soon locked onto the target.

“Here!” Su Haoran zoomed in. The entire screen was now filled with Zeng Zhiwei. He was carrying a suitcase, walking out of the airport.

“Zoom in on the suitcase,” Wang Zheng ordered.

“Got it,” Su Haoran focused on the suitcase, enlarging it 20 times. The suitcase’s design became crystal clear.

“It’s the same one, an exact match!” Qin Min exclaimed.

“The case is closed,” Wang Zheng sighed in relief. “Zeng Zhiwei is the real murderer. He secretly took Chen Shu’s phone to contact Liang Wei.”

“No wonder Liang Wei believed he had his son’s body. Since Zeng Zhiwei is Chen Shu’s father, his words held weight. That’s why Liang Wei risked going from the East City overpass to the West Suburb.”

“And since Zeng Zhiwei is short, this suitcase was the perfect size for him, giving him the opportunity to kill.”

“It’s over? Just like that?”

“Chen Shu barely got involved, and the investigation team instantly zeroed in on Zeng Zhiwei. That’s insane.”

“Now that the evidence is solid, let’s see how Zeng Zhiwei tries to deny it.”

“Zeng Zhiwei never expected the key evidence, this suitcase, to be found by Chen Shu.”

“Looking at it now, this suitcase was the most crucial clue. Chen Shu was only trying to prove his innocence, but he ended up solving the case.”

“One more thing,” Wang Zheng continued. “We’ve confirmed that Zeng Zhiwei killed Liang Wei, but why? What was his motive?”

Another new question. Wang Zheng’s reasoning hit a dead end. Hearing this, Qin Min rested his chin on his hand, deep in thought.

A moment later, he said, “Captain Wang, earlier, Chen Shu mentioned that Zeng Zhiwei seemed mentally unstable, possibly having an unhealthy obsession with his daughter. Maybe Liang Wei harmed her, triggering his rage?”

“That still doesn’t justify murder,” Su Haoran shook his head. “I still think this case is more complicated than it seems. Before Chen Shu proved his innocence, we had no leads, but as soon as he spoke up, everything fell into place. I can’t shake the feeling that he’s involved somehow.”

“Haoran, you’re still biased,” Qin Min rolled his eyes. “The night of the crime, Chen Shu was at home. His phone was stolen, and the suitcase couldn’t fit him. He’s been completely cleared. Stop suspecting him, he was framed by Zeng Zhiwei and wrongfully accused.”

“Yeah, Haoran, give Chen Shu a break. He’s been locked in the interrogation room, wrongly accused, and scolded multiple times. Poor guy.”

“And if he hadn’t proven his innocence, you wouldn’t have found the suitcase or identified Zeng Zhiwei so quickly!”

“No need for an apology, but at least say thank you!”
