A flaw? Wang Zheng’s expression faltered slightly, at the same time, the audience in the livestream erupted.

“Chen Shu is about to fight back!”

“Yeah, Chen Shu was framed by Zeng Zhiwei. With his temper, there’s no way he’d just sit in the interrogation room doing nothing.”

“To put it simply, he’s been pushed into a corner and is desperate to prove his innocence.”

“Come on, let’s see how Chen Shu clears his name!”

Hearing Chen Shu’s words, Wang Zheng hesitated. He couldn’t understand what Chen Shu was trying to do. What was this guy up to? As a suspect, he actually wanted to help solve the case?

Could it be… Liang Wei wasn’t really killed by him?

No, no, he couldn’t be fooled by Chen Shu’s actions. Maybe this guy just wanted to interfere and muddy the waters to mislead the investigation! But he said he found a flaw? What was it?

For a moment, Wang Zheng was intrigued.

“Alright, speak.” Wang Zheng’s voice was steady. He didn’t agree to Chen Shu’s ridiculous request, he was just curious about what game this guy was playing.

“Officer Wang, answer me this first. In this case, what do you think is the key to solving it?” Chen Shu asked, staring at Wang Zheng.

Wang Zheng thought for a moment and replied, “The call records, of course. Only by analyzing them can we narrow down the suspects.”

“No, you’re wrong,” Chen Shu said bluntly. “As I mentioned before, call records can be faked. For example, if I stole your phone and called Liang Wei, would that make you a suspect?”

“Hmm, you make a valid point,” Wang Zheng nodded. “But I had no conflict with Liang Wei, so there’s no reason to suspect me. You, on the other hand, are different. Liang Wei is dead, you were already a suspect, and your phone number appeared in the call records.”

“You’re right about that,” Chen Shu didn’t argue. “Now listen carefully, I’m going to clear my name.”

Hearing this, Wang Zheng frowned. “Go on.”

The audience buzzed again.

“It’s starting! Chen Shu won’t just sit there and take it.”

“But can he really prove his innocence? Zeng Zhiwei made sure all evidence pointed at him, it won’t be easy.”

“Chen might not be as cunning as Zeng in crime, but clearing his name should be possible!”

“Shut up and listen to Chen Shu!”

The audience fell silent.

In the dimly lit interrogation room, the camera zoomed in on Chen Shu. He spoke slowly, “Captain Wang, you said the most critical piece of evidence is the call records. But I believe the most important clue is the suitcase!”

“The suitcase?” Wang Zheng looked puzzled.

The suitcase was indeed important, it allowed the killer to hide inside, avoiding surveillance, and when the zipper was opened, it caught Liang Wei off guard. But was it really the most important clue?

“Have you found the suitcase?” Chen Shu asked.

Wang Zheng replied, “Not yet. The killer must have thrown it into the river. With the current carrying it downstream, it won’t be easy to find.”

Chen Shu chuckled. “Exactly. A killer who’s so careful and intelligent wouldn’t leave evidence behind so easily. But I know where the suitcase is.”

“Hmm?” Wang Zheng’s eyes narrowed, and he sneered. “Of course, you’d know where it is, you’re the killer.”

“No,” Chen Shu shook his head. “According to your investigation, after killing Liang Wei, the suspect jumped into Dongcheng River and swam all the way to Xijiao River, right?”

“Yes.”

“The two rivers are connected, and the water flow is calm enough for the killer to swim through undetected and create a false alibi. But the distance between Dongcheng River and Xijiao River isn’t short. It would take at least three hours to swim across. Do you think an ordinary person could last that long?” Chen Shu analyzed.

“So, the suitcase wasn’t just for avoiding surveillance, it also acted as a ‘boat,’ allowing the killer to float downstream and conserve energy.”

Wang Zheng’s expression changed, he had overlooked this possibility.

“When the killer reached Xijiao River, the suitcase became a liability.”

“He couldn’t just leave it floating, it would be found. So, he had to make sure it sank to the bottom of the river, making it nearly impossible for the police to retrieve.”

“Now, Officer Wang, tell me, after reaching the shore at Xijiao River, how do you think the killer made sure the suitcase sank?” Chen Shu smiled at Wang Zheng.

Wang Zheng furrowed his brows, then suddenly said, “The simplest way is to put a few heavy rocks inside. That way, the suitcase would sink to the riverbed and never resurface.”

“Exactly,” Chen Shu nodded. “So now, you should know where the suitcase is, right?”

Wang Zheng blurted out, “It’s at the spot where the killer got out of Xijiao River!”

“Whoa! That analysis was insane!”

“The suitcase was key all along, Zeng Zhiwei would never let the police find it easily.”

“If Chen Shu is right, then Zeng weighted the suitcase with rocks and dumped it back into the river to sink.”

“But even if they find the suitcase, how does that prove Chen Shu’s innocence?”

Wang Zheng was suddenly enlightened. All this time, he had been instructing officers to search along Dongcheng River, working their way to Xijiao River, hoping to find the suitcase.

But it was a massive workload, even if they found it, it would take days. Now, with Chen Shu’s reasoning, the search area could be drastically narrowed down. The killer was meticulous, the suitcase, as a key piece of evidence, couldn’t be easily discovered, nor could he take it home. The simplest solution was to make it sink.

The suitcase would be at the spot where the killer got out of the river! This drastically reduced the search area.

“Alright, even if your deduction is correct, how does it prove your innocence?” Wang Zheng asked.

Chen Shu shrugged. “You said the killer hid inside the suitcase, pretending to be a corpse, and was taken away by Liang Wei. So when you retrieve the suitcase, check if someone my size, six feet tall, could actually fit inside.”
