“What? Liang Wei is dead?”

Waking up, Zhang Sheng felt like the sky had collapsed! His mind was completely blank, he had no idea what had happened. Then, he opened the late-night livestream recording. He wanted to see for himself.

Since it was late at night, all the actors had gone to sleep. The cameraman assigned to follow Liang Wei had set up a fixed camera on the bridge and then left.

In the recording, it was visible, at 1 a.m., Liang Wei was sleeping soundly under the bridge. This continued until 2:30 a.m. Suddenly, his phone rang, someone was calling him. He answered and walked out of the bridge tunnel, disappearing from the camera’s view.

“Who called Liang Wei?” Curious, Zhang Sheng checked the recordings of all the actors. Finally, he confirmed, it was Zeng Zhiwei. Because only he had left the West Suburb building after 11 p.m. last night.

Meanwhile, Su Xiaoxiao and Chen Shu were asleep inside the building. Of course, since the cameraman had also left, no one knew where Zeng Zhiwei had gone. But one thing was certain, he was the one who called Liang Wei.

What the…

Zhang Sheng was utterly confused. “Why were they calling each other?”

“Besides, in the script, Zeng Zhiwei is Su Xiaoxiao’s father. He shouldn’t even have Liang Wei’s number!”

“And why would he kill Liang Wei?”

“The mission only required him to protect Su Xiaoxiao and violate her. Liang Wei was already a wanted man; there was no reason to go that far just to protect Su Xiaoxiao!”

For a moment, Zhang Sheng couldn’t understand.

Ring, ring.

Just then, the phone on the table rang. He didn’t even need to check, he knew it was Director Wu Hong. Zhang Sheng quickly turned down the volume and answered. Sure enough, a furious voice roared, “Zhang Sheng, what the hell are you doing? Liang Wei was killed off so easily?”

Feeling wronged, Zhang Sheng said, “Director, I have no idea why Zeng Zhiwei killed Liang Wei. It doesn’t make sense…”

Wu Hong interrupted, “I don’t care if it makes sense! Didn’t you say Liang Wei was highly skilled? That he watched all of Sherlock Holmes and 2,000 episodes of Conan? Even if Zeng Zhiwei wanted to kill him, he should’ve at least put up a fight! Instead, he just died? And off-camera, no less! It’s so boring!”

Zhang Sheng had no response to that. Liang Wei was indeed handpicked from a group of top actors. Before joining, he had promised to study criminal techniques and amaze the audience with his skills. And yet…

He died on the second day.

“Ah Wei is dead, this was your choice,” Wu Hong added, still upset.

After thinking for a moment, Zhang Sheng replied, “Director, although Liang Wei is dead, we’ve discovered that Zeng Zhiwei’s methods are even more sophisticated. Even though we can’t see their battle anymore, this actually works in our favor, it shifts all the audience’s attention onto Zeng Zhiwei.”

“Let’s see how the detective team uncovers Zeng Zhiwei’s crime.”

“After all, from their perspective, Zeng Zhiwei is just a kind father who loves his daughter and takes care of his family. He doesn’t seem like the type to kill Liang Wei or assault Su Xiaoxiao!”

Hearing this, Wu Hong had nothing to say. “Fine.” Then, he hung up.

Meanwhile, online discussions about how Zeng Zhiwei killed Liang Wei were heating up.

“Now it’s confirmed, Zeng Zhiwei did it. But how and why remain a mystery.”

“Too bad Liang Wei was so weak. He didn’t even last a single round before getting killed off.”

“Even among top actors, there’s a difference in skill.”

“Liang losing to Chen was expected. But now he even lost to Zeng? That’s hilarious!”

“Now we have to rely on the detective team to reveal the truth. Honestly, I’m really curious, how did Zeng Zhiwei manage to kill someone as big and strong as Liang Wei?”

“Enough chatting, check the main livestream! They’ve replaced Liang Wei’s footage with the detective team. They’re already at the crime scene!”

The crime scene was under a bridge. By now, dozens of police officers had sealed it off. Inside the tunnel, Qin Min was examining Liang Wei’s body.

A few minutes later, he removed his mask and stood up. “Captain Wang, the victim’s blood hasn’t coagulated yet, and his body still has residual warmth. He likely died within the last four hours.”

“Within four hours?”

Captain Wang checked his watch. “It’s 7 a.m. now, which means he was killed after 3 a.m.?”

“Yes.”

“How did he die?” Wang asked.

“Come look.” Qin Min crouched again and pointed at Liang Wei’s jaw. “A small knife pierced through his lower jaw, stabbing straight into his nasal cavity. A single lethal strike!”

“So brutal,” Wang frowned. “This suggests the killer fought him first, then stabbed him upward during the struggle.”

“No,” Su Haoran walked over. “I checked the area, there are no signs of a struggle. This place is near the river, and the soil is damp. If they fought, there would be traces. But there’s nothing. Not even footprints from a second person.”

“What?”

Wang was shocked. “No traces of a second person? Are you saying Liang Wei played with a knife and accidentally killed himself?”

Su Haoran: “Uh… obviously not. But from what I can see, there really were no other footprints. From start to finish, it looks like only Liang Wei was here.”

“Could the killer have erased their footprints to fake an alibi?” Qin Min asked.

Su Haoran rolled his eyes.

He pointed outside the tunnel at the damp soil. “Try walking over it. You’ll leave footprints. If you erase each step as you go, you’ll disturb the soil too much, it would be obvious. That would defeat the purpose.”

Wang nodded. “True. Based on the scene, only Liang Wei was here. There was no second person.”

The three of them fell silent.

In the livestream, the audience was also amazed.

“Zeng Zhiwei, is that good?”

“No wonder he’s a veteran in crime dramas. He immediately put the detective trio in a tough spot.”

“Yeah, if no one else was there, how did Liang Wei die?”

“A ghost killed him.”

“Stop being ridiculous.”

“This is getting more exciting. I thought it’d be boring without Chen Shu in action, but Zeng Zhiwei is just as interesting!”

Elsewhere, at Chen Shu’s house. Zeng Zhiwei appeared on screen.

“Dad, where were you last night? You just got back?” Su Xiaoxiao asked.

“Oh, it’s nothing. Just went out for a walk,” Zeng Zhiwei said with a smile, waving his hand. His chubby face forced a smile that didn’t seem natural. His whole body was filthy, and his clothes were soaked, he looked exhausted.

At that moment, Chen Shu stepped forward and took Su Xiaoxiao’s arm. “Let’s go, sis. He must be really tired. I’ll take you instead.”
