- Chapter 47 - An Accident is About to Happen, Calling for the Show to Pause
“Actor: Inescapable Justice” has truly gone viral now.
The footage of Chen Shu and Liang Wei colliding on the highway was clipped and uploaded by netizens, amassing over 200,000 shares in just a few minutes.
More and more people joined the livestream.
Since the first-person camera feeds of both individuals were missing, all viewers had to watch through the main broadcast room.
The hype skyrocketed.
At that moment, for the first time, the stream broke past 100 million views! It was as if in every city, in every household, at least one or two people were holding their phones and watching.
For example, inside a villa in the Harbor District, Lin Ziying and a few friends were having a barbecue while watching the livestream.
Someone asked Lin Ziying, “Brother Lin, you seem to have a good relationship with Liang Wei. I heard you both used to race together?”
“That’s right.” Lin Ziying nodded.
Not only was he a singer and actor in the Harbor District entertainment industry, but he was also a renowned race car driver who had participated in several major events, such as the 1998 Malaysian International Racing Championship and the 2001 Asia-Pacific Rally Championship.
He won championships in all of these competitions. In the entertainment industry, he might not be the biggest star, but he was definitely the top-tier racer!
“How skilled is he?” someone asked.
Lin Ziying replied, “Among all the celebrities who know how to race, only a few can really drive. Liang Wei is ranked in the upper-middle tier. In fact, I’ve lost to him several times in races. He’s even stolen the championship from me a few times. So, that should tell you enough about his skill level.”
A friend gasped, “If he can compete with you, then that means Liang Wei’s racing skills are already at a master level. But then… what is the ‘Inescapable Justice’ production team thinking? How could they allow an amateur to try and stop his car? This could end in disaster!”
Hearing this, Lin Ziying frowned, he looked at the screen in the living room. On the screen, a luxury Benz and an old Volkswagen were recklessly competing.
“The production team probably didn’t expect the amateur to be this bold,” Lin Ziying shook his head, a trace of worry appearing on his face. “Look, Liang Wei is driving a top-spec Benz, while the amateur is in an outdated Volkswagen from over a decade ago. Performance-wise, there’s simply no comparison.”
“Right now, it may look like the amateur can keep up, but in about ten minutes, the Volkswagen’s tires will wear out, and the engine’s power will be insufficient. The car might even roll backward down the mountain, causing a tragedy!”
“Trying to overtake Liang Wei and stop his car? Unless he’s dreaming, it’s 100% impossible!”
At this point, Lin Ziying couldn’t sit still anymore. If the production team kept allowing this to happen, a horrible accident was inevitable. So, he grabbed his phone and opened his social media account. He posted a short video and tagged the show’s official account.
“Inescapable Justice production team, I am Lin Ziying. You should know that I am a professional race car driver. Based on my analysis, in another ten minutes, the amateur’s car will experience a system failure. If you don’t want a tragedy to happen, immediately forcefully stop the livestream and make the amateur stop.”
“Furthermore, even if we put that aside, Liang Wei, like me, is also a professional racer. Our skills may not be world-class, but we’re among the best in the country. You’re letting an amateur race against him? That’s completely reckless.”
As soon as the video was posted, it quickly attracted a wave of netizens.
“What?! Liang Wei is a professional racer? How many hidden identities does he have?”
“Oh no, this is bad! Chen Shu might really end up in an accident like Lin Ziying said!”
“What is the production team doing? Hurry up and stop this!”
Inside the director’s control room, Zhang Sheng received a call from Station Director Wu Hong. Clearly, Wu Hong had seen Lin Ziying’s video first. Now, it wasn’t just Zhang Sheng breaking out in cold sweat, both of them were getting nervous.
“Director, I really didn’t expect things to turn out like this! Think about it, what kind of normal person would suddenly go off-script, steal a car, and then use it to race against Liang Wei?”
“And even if he did steal a car, why would he challenge Liang Wei to a race?”
“I know he can’t catch up to Liang Wei, but now they’ve entered Yonglong Mountain, and we can’t contact them anymore.”
“Our only way to monitor them is through drone footage!”
Zhang Sheng desperately tried to defend himself. But Wu Hong wasn’t having any of it and shouted over the phone, “Stop sitting around in your office and get to Yonglong Mountain immediately! First, seal off the mountain. Don’t let anyone else in! if innocent people get hurt, our show is completely screwed.”
“Then, find a way to stop them!”
Beep, beep, beep.
Wu Hong hung up the phone in a hurry. Zhang Sheng was left standing there, dumbfounded. “Wait, this was just supposed to simulate crime… but Chen Shu is actually committing a crime?!”
A shiver ran down his spine. He immediately stood up and ordered the driver to take him to the scene.
Meanwhile, drone footage showed that both cars had reached the mountainside. Since the road uphill was mostly straight, in terms of car performance, Chen Shu had no chance of overtaking Liang Wei.
That was simply a fact.
However, Chen Shu remained unfazed. He gripped the steering wheel tightly as the car shook violently. The suspension seemed barely able to handle the speed. But even so, he didn’t slow down at all.
He was waiting for the perfect moment to stop Liang Wei! In his mind, he kept recalling the techniques of a “car hunter.”
What did that mean?
A professional racer’s focus is just speed, who is the fastest. But a car hunter? Speed is just one aspect. More importantly, they know how to control a car in extreme situations!
Very soon, the cars reached the top of the mountain, but Liang Wei had no intention of stopping. He planned to lure Chen Shu into the forested area behind the mountain.
The key detail?
The road down to the forest was full of sharp, winding turns. This was where his true racing skills would shine. It was time to show off.
Drifting, tail swings, he wanted the audience to witness firsthand what it meant to be a professional racer. That in the world of crime, such skills were an invaluable asset.
“Heh, your brother is quite capable. He’s actually keeping up,” Liang Wei sneered as he glanced in the rearview mirror, spotting the Volkswagen a few hundred meters behind him.
“Of course, I’m going easy on him. I can’t just lose him right away, I need to lure him deeper into the forest. That’s where I’ll personally finish off you and your brother.”
“Heh, uphill was his best chance to stop me. But now, heading down this steep mountain road? He can forget about catching up.”
“You and your brother… are both going to die!”
