- I Asked You To Simulate A Crime, And You Pulled Off The Perfect Crime?
- Chapter 39 - Zhang Sheng’s Announcement
The meeting lasted for half an hour. In the end, three key points were confirmed.
1. The theme of the seventh episode will build upon the storyline of the sixth episode, focusing on the theme of “family.”
2. Four actors are required for participation.
3. Chen Shu must make an appearance, even if just a brief one, to leverage his current popularity for audience engagement.
That night, the production team released a teaser for the seventh episode. As expected, the internet exploded with discussions in the comment section.
“I just want to know, is Chen Shu participating or not? If not, I’m dropping this show.”
“Wait, they haven’t even revealed where the body is, and they’re already moving on to the next episode?”
“I’m already used to Chen Shu’s brilliance. If someone else plays the role, it won’t be exciting at all!”
“What about Liang Wei? Is he still in one piece?”
“Pfft, haha! Liang Wei is definitely coming back. He’s suffered so much before, there’s no way he’s not returning to redeem himself!”
“Liang Wei: I’ve finished watching 2,000 episodes of Detective Conan. I am invincible now!”
In response to the heated discussions, Zhang Sheng posted a short video.
“Dear viewers, I’m thrilled that you enjoyed the last episode. Rest assured, the next one will be even more exciting, it will feature a complex simulated crime!”
“To satisfy your curiosity, I’ll reveal a few details in advance.”
“The question everyone is most concerned about. Where did the body go? This will be revealed in Episode 7.”
“Also, Chen Shu has officially signed with us and will be appearing in this episode.”
“And yes, Liang Wei is back, again, again, and again!”
“Moreover, in this episode, Chen Shu and Liang Wei will be on opposing sides. You’ll witness a thrilling battle of wits between them!”
“So, mark your calendars for seven days from now, April 24th. Don’t miss our livestream! I promise, you won’t be disappointed!”
“Of course, this is just a simulation of crime. Please do not attempt to imitate it in real life. We aim to promote positive values!”
Zhang Sheng’s words successfully sparked the interest of netizens!
“Wait, what? A crime showdown between Chen Shu and Liang Wei?”
“Damn, this sounds amazing! Liang Wei definitely won’t accept losing to Chen Shu, so he’ll try everything to win. But Chen Shu isn’t easy to deal with either, this battle will be intense!”
“So the director is hinting that Episode 7 will feature two groups of criminals?”
“Haha, I just want to see Chen Shu completely crush Liang Wei!”
Seeing that the audience’s curiosity had been piqued, Zhang Sheng leaned back in his chair and took a sip of tea. Of course, he had no intention of letting Chen Shu commit crimes again nor would he actually pit him against Liang Wei.
After all, Liang Wei was still holding a grudge. Several times before, he had been humiliated because of Chen Shu, which led to the internet mocking him. If the show put them on opposite sides again, what if Liang Wei let his personal feelings get in the way and angered Chen Shu?
Knowing Chen Shu’s temperament, he might just use the filming as an opportunity to get rid of Liang Wei without anyone noticing.
A fake crime turning into a real one? A flawless deception?
That wouldn’t do. After all, this was just a variety show, not a real-life murder case.
Zhang Sheng only made that announcement to ensure viewers would tune in for Episode 7. The first day’s viewership numbers were crucial. As long as he could lure the audience in, that was all that mattered. And if they later realized they had been misled? He wasn’t worried.
Sure, netizens had sharp tongues, but they’d forget about it after a few days.
As long as Episode 7 was thrilling enough, they wouldn’t hold a grudge, just like how the controversy over Chen Shu replacing Liang Wei eventually died down.
Meanwhile, over in the detective team, the mood was heavy. For the first time since the show’s inception, the three of them had suffered a complete defeat. And it wasn’t just a loss, it was an utter disaster!
To be honest, it was a huge blow to them.
“The seventh episode is coming up soon,” Wang Zheng reminded them. “Director Zhang has already contacted me. He said we need to be fully prepared and must not repeat our previous mistakes.”
“We can’t let our guard down this time!”
Qin Min and Su Haoran nodded in agreement.
“Captain Wang, is that amateur contestant still participating?” Su Haoran asked.
“Yes, according to Director Zhang, he will be,” Wang Zheng replied.
“Good!” Su Haoran let out a relieved sigh before firming his resolve. “This time, I won’t let him escape from my grasp again. I’ll make sure he’s brought to justi-“
“But…” Wang Zheng interrupted with a sigh. “But Director Zhang specifically told me that since Chen Shu’s methods are too sophisticated, allowing him to commit another crime might have a negative societal impact. So in Episode 7, he’ll only play a minor role and won’t be allowed to commit any crimes.”
“Huh?” Su Haoran was stunned. “But… that means we won’t even get a chance for revenge!”
Qin Min asked from the side, “Then who will play the criminals this time? Do we know yet?”
“Director Zhang said the script will continue from the previous episode and will feature three criminals in total,” Wang Zheng explained. “So far, the only confirmed one is Liang Wei. The other two are still unknown.”
Hearing Liang Wei’s name, Qin Min and Su Haoran rolled their eyes.
This guy had watched a few hundred episodes of Detective Conan and suddenly thought he was a genius detective. He even made a big deal online about knowing where Liu Liang’s body was. In the end, all he did was set the Iron Trio up to be completely fooled by Chen Shu again.
Honestly, he was just a joke. Compared to Chen Shu, there was no competition at all!
“What a shame.” Su Haoran shook his head in disappointment.
“Alright, let’s all get some rest,” Wang Zheng instructed. “We have seven days. Let’s go over the last case thoroughly and prepare ourselves.”
“And remember, this time, no underestimating the opponent. Who knows? Maybe Liang Wei actually has some tricks up his sleeve.”
He paused before adding, “Even though Chen Shu is only playing a minor role this time, at least he’ll be on set. Let’s give it our all and show him what we’re truly capable of. It’s about time we prove that we’re not just a bunch of amateurs!”
Qin Min and Su Haoran nodded firmly.
Time flew by, and soon, it was April 24th. At 7:30 PM that evening, as soon as the livestream of Actors: Inescapable Justice started, before the host could even speak, the viewership count had already skyrocketed past 30 million and was still climbing by the hundreds of thousands per minute.
“Good evening, everyone!”
“I’m your host, Zhang Bingbing.”
“And now, I officially announce the seventh episode of Actors: Inescapable Justice has begun!”
