- Chapter 29 - Where's the Body? An Unsolvable Mystery
“Wang Zheng, I could sue you for colluding with criminals and deliberately framing my sister and me for murder!”
“I advise you to enforce the law impartially, at least live up to that uniform you’re wearing!”
Chen Shu didn’t hold back.
Now that the last piece of evidence was erased, he had nothing left to fear. He glared at Wang Zheng and lashed out angrily.
Everyone was stunned. No one expected a real suspect to turn the tables and accuse the investigation team instead!
Unbelievable!
“Chen Shu, stop twisting the truth. Everyone knows my character, I would never collude with a murderer! Fine, since you’re accusing me, show me the evidence. If you don’t have any, I can arrest you right now for slandering an officer!” Wang Zheng snapped, his face dark with anger.
Chen Shu laughed. “Alright! But you guys have to show me your evidence first. Otherwise, if you keep barging into my house and detaining me, I could take you to court!”
Wang Zheng, “Your sister admitted it herself.”
Chen Shu, “Then tell her to show the evidence!”
Su Xiaoxiao, “…I have nothing…”
“So, you don’t have any?” Chen Shu’s voice rose. “If you can come after me without evidence, why can’t I question you? Just because you’re wearing a uniform, you think you can do whatever you want?”
Wang Zheng was speechless.
Qin Min and Su Haoran exchanged helpless glances.
“Haha, I’m dying! I thought Su Xiaoxiao had proof, but in the end, Chen Shu played them all!”
“Wang, you really screwed up this time.”
“Chen Shu’s logic is airtight. I can’t even argue against him.”
“I’m new here. Can someone tell me who the real killer is? Why is Wang Zheng so fixated on Chen Shu? Do they have bad blood?”
The audience was thrilled. They thought the show would shove a moral lesson down their throats, but instead, Chen Shu pulled off an incredible reversal.
It was so unexpected!
Not only did he escape being convicted, but he even accused Wang Zheng of colluding with the real murderer. This was the ultimate case of “the thief crying thief.“
And Wang Zheng couldn’t do a damn thing about it.
At the same time, clips of Chen Shu calling out Wang Zheng were recorded and spread online like wildfire. More and more viewers joined in.
Many, perhaps just following the trend, started believing that Wang Zheng was the corrupt one, framing the siblings while secretly working with the real killer. And that the weak, innocent sister had been forced to confess!
The public was outraged.
But some viewers who had been following from the start quickly told the newcomers, Chen Shu was the real killer. The new viewers were stunned.
Wait, if he’s the killer, how is he so fearless?
Not only did he not run, but he even pointed at Wang Zheng’s nose and scolded him? And Wang Zheng couldn’t even argue back?
What the hell… None of it made sense.
Driven by curiosity, more people started watching the show from the beginning.
And just like that, Chen Shu rose in popularity! His acting skills made him famous in the film industry, while his cunning tactics left audiences in awe.
The rain kept pouring. The livestream continued.
Chen Shu glanced at Wang Zheng, who remained silent, but his face was full of unwillingness.
After a moment, Chen Shu raised his cuffed hands. “Officer Wang, can you unlock these now? Or do you really plan to take me in for slander?”
Wang Zheng knew he couldn’t, he had already lost. Even the director couldn’t do anything to arrest this man. If he brought him in now for slander, the audience would laugh at him for days.
“Unlock him,” Wang Zheng ordered the officer beside him.
“Wait a second,” Chen Shu said. “Officer Wang, you falsely accused me several times. I didn’t say anything because I’m not petty. I won’t even ask for an apology.”
“But!”
“You should at least unlock these cuffs yourself.”
“You should remember what it feels like to wrongfully accuse someone.”
Gasp!
The entire place erupted. Every officer glared at him. They wanted to throw him in jail so bad but they had no evidence. It was infuriating.
“Fine!” Wang Zheng stepped forward, took out the key, and unlocked the cuffs himself.
Then, through clenched teeth, he muttered, “Chen Shu, justice will catch up to you. You won’t escape forever. I will find the evidence and personally arrest you.”
“Officer Wang, you only have three days left, right? Don’t push yourself. Go home, take a hot shower, and sleep,” Chen Shu said casually.
“What if we find the body within three days?” Wang Zheng shot back. “I refuse to believe a body that big could just disappear into thin air.”
Chen Shu smirked. “Good luck.”
“Hmph.” Wang Zheng let out a cold snort, then waved his hand. The assembled officers left in defeat.
One by one, police cars started driving away.
“LMAO! I never expected it to end like this! The “Iron Trio” was completely played by Chen Shu.”
“Wang personally unchained the suspect and got schooled by him. If I hadn’t seen it myself, I wouldn’t believe it.”
“Wait, do you think there’ll be another twist?”
“Another twist? Are you joking? The show only has three days left! Unless they find Liu Liang’s body, they’re doomed.”
“So… where did Chen Shu hide the body?”
“Honestly? I don’t think the “Iron Trio” will ever find it. We’ll probably have to wait until after the show ends for Chen Shu to reveal it himself.”
“LOL, this show tried to “educate” us, but in the end, a random contestant educated them! Serves them right.”
That night, discussions about Chen Shu dominated social media.
“#Chen Shu: Perfect Crimes Do Exist!”
“#Su Xiaoxiao: Bro, I confess. Chen Shu: Get back here!”
“#Final Three Days: Can the Investigation Team Turn the Tables?”
“#Chen Shu, The True Genius Criminal Mastermind!”
“Boss, I’m out of ideas. Who could’ve seen this coming? Su Xiaoxiao even confessed, but Chen Shu still managed to spin it around. He almost took us to court!”
“Tell me, what else can I do to make him pay?”
Meanwhile…
No one was more frustrated than the show’s director, Zhang Sheng.
The station head, Wu Hong, was pressuring him yet again.
