Pitter-patter.

The entire courtyard was silent, except for the sound of raindrops splashing against the ground.

Inside the live broadcast room, the audience was speechless. They seemed so shocked by the scene before them that their scalps tingled.

It wasn’t until a long moment later that they finally reacted.

Suddenly, the screen was flooded with question marks.

“?”

“???”

“??????”

Inside the director’s room, Zhang Sheng had been slouching, watching the climax unfold with a dull expression.

As the director, from an entertainment perspective, he honestly didn’t want Su Xiaoxiao to turn herself in. If possible, he preferred the show to last longer so that the Iron Trio could continue their battle of wits with Chen Shu.

But there was no choice. Time was limited, and even the station director personally instructed that the show had to end with an educational message where the criminal’s conscience would awaken, leading to the truth being revealed.

The criminal must be brought to justice.

That was the premise of the entire show.

Zhang Sheng sighed. Even though this episode had broken records for the highest viewership in history, he still felt a little regretful.

“Huh?” But the moment the burlap sack was opened, Zhang Sheng let out a startled cry. His eyes widened, and he sat up straight. He rubbed his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing and he wasn’t the only one.

Everyone else saw it too.

Inside the burlap sack wasn’t Liu Liang’s corpse…

It was a sheep!

He was stunned. What the hell was going on? And he wasn’t the only one confused. The most bewildered person at this moment was Su Xiaoxiao. She had seen the body buried there with her own eyes.

There was no way it was fake!

She had even asked her brother several times to move the body before the director found her. But her brother told her there was no need. Just let the corpse remain buried here, and time would erase all traces.

But now, why was it a sheep?

“Brother, where’s the body?” Su Xiaoxiao looked at Chen Shu, her curiosity overwhelming.

At that moment, rain washed over Chen Shu’s face. Through the misty veil of water, she could faintly see the enigmatic smile curling at his lips.

He looked at Su Xiaoxiao and said, “Sister, isn’t the body lying right here?”

“Not the sheep, Liu Liang’s body!”

“Who is Liu Liang? And why would his body be here? Sister, what nonsense are you talking about?” Chen Shu countered, each word echoing in Su Xiaoxiao’s ears.

She took a step back, and in that moment, she finally understood something.

No wonder Su Haoran had led a team to search for the body days ago, yet her brother remained completely calm. He wasn’t gambling on rain and fertilizer misleading the police dogs!

And it wasn’t just luck that the dogs found nothing. It was because, even if the dogs had located the spot, there was nothing for them to find. Because the real corpse had already been moved without anyone realizing it.

He had deceived the audience. Deceived everyone.

Even her, his own sister, was kept in the dark!

Just moments ago, Wang Zheng had said that as long as a crime was committed, there would always be traces left behind in the world.

And that trace was Su Xiaoxiao herself.

Which meant, Chen Shu had already anticipated this from the very beginning. Everything, every detail, was within his grasp. There was no luck involved. It was all part of his plan!

“Damn, I’m in shock! It’s one thing for Chen Shu to fool us, but even his own sister?”

“Now it makes sense. Chen Shu really pulled off the perfect crime. Su Xiaoxiao was the only person who could testify against him. If she found the body, everything would be exposed. But now, even she’s been tricked. She can’t find the body.”

“Without solid evidence, Su Xiaoxiao’s word alone won’t hold up in court. She might even be accused of making false accusations!”

“Holy crap, when did he move the body?!”

“It must have been when the show focused on the detective team instead of him because they thought he wasn’t doing anything!”

The audience was wildly speculating about Chen Shu’s motives, but in truth, the reason he did this was simple. He had sensed something was wrong from the very start.

After being transported into this world, he initially believed Su Xiaoxiao was his real sister. But over time, he noticed drones constantly following him and a tiny hidden camera on Su Xiaoxiao’s chest.

That was when he realized, this was a simulated crime show!

And since it was a show, he figured out something else, no matter what, the producers would never let him escape judgment in the end. Even if the police couldn’t catch him and he erased all evidence.

Su Xiaoxiao, as his accomplice, was the only person who knew everything.

When the show had no other option left, they would make her confess and reveal where Liu Liang’s body was bringing the game to an end.

That’s unacceptable.

Chen Shu had to complete the system’s mission: to commit one perfect crime after another. Only then could he earn rewards.

So, he turned the situation in his favor. He let Su Xiaoxiao find the switched corpse. That way, she, his greatest threat, is completely neutralized.

“Chen Shu, stop pretending! Where the hell did you hide the body?” Wang Zheng’s anxious voice cut through the rain.

He was furious. The show forcing Su Xiaoxiao to confess had already embarrassed him enough. But now, he felt like he was being played.

If they didn’t find the body today, he wouldn’t be able to wrap this up. It would be humiliating!

“Officer Wang, watch your words!”

“I’ve told you a thousand times, I don’t know any Liu Liang.”

Chen Shu snapped.

Wang Zheng pointed at Su Xiaoxiao. “Your sister has already confessed!”

“And what did she confess?” Chen Shu sneered. “The location of the body? But as you can see, it’s just the remains of a lamb I ate!”

Sweeping his gaze over the Iron Trio, he continued, “I seriously suspect you coerced my sister into confessing trying to pin these false charges on us!”

“The real killer must be working with you. You needed a scapegoat, so you set your sights on a pair of helpless siblings, didn’t you?”

“Sister, don’t be afraid. We’ve done nothing wrong.”

“We have a clear conscience!”

“The law will prove our innocence!”

Su Xiaoxiao stood frozen. In her eyes, an unexpected emotion surfaced. Admiration.

She stared at Chen Shu. This amateur contestant was insane! Even after she voluntarily confessed, he still managed to turn the tables. Not only that, but he even shifted the blame onto the Iron Trio!

Who the hell could have seen this coming?

The three detectives trembled, their faces twitching.

As this scene played out on the livestream, the audience went absolutely wild.

“Holy crap, this is insane! The showrunners wanted Su Xiaoxiao to confess, but Chen Shu not only stopped her, he even accused the detectives instead!”

“Now that Su Xiaoxiao has no proof, even if she wants to turn herself in, Chen Shu can still protect her.”

“She’s just a puppet in his hands. No matter what she says, it’s useless.”

“Su Xiaoxiao: I’m guilty. Chen Shu: No, you’re not.”
