- I Asked You To Simulate A Crime, And You Pulled Off The Perfect Crime?
- Chapter 25 - The Original Purpose of the Show!
“What now? I just want to ask what evidence is left to point to Chen Shu?”
“Whatever the Investigation Team can think of, Chen Shu has already anticipated. He destroyed all the evidence perfectly.”
“If there’s any evidence, it’s probably the body in the yard, but Su Haoran missed it the first time. He wouldn’t have thought the body was still there.”
Indeed, the Investigation Team had reached a dead end. They had analyzed every possibility, but without exception, Chen Shu had erased all traces. There was truly no way forward!
As time passed, only three days remained out of the two-week investigation period.
A trending topic titled “#Chen Shu’s Perfect Crime” skyrocketed to the number one spot online.
The internet erupted in excitement.
Although in real life, no one wanted perfect crimes to exist, it was different in a reality show. Viewers enjoyed the drama and unexpected twists, making them even more thrilled.
After all, the show’s purpose was to prevent crime and showcase the brilliance of modern investigators. Its goal was to reduce crime.
But who would have thought, a single amateur had given the Investigation Team a masterclass!
“Only three days left, and the Investigation Team is still clueless. I think we can already declare Chen Shu the winner.”
“Damn, perfect crimes actually exist? Chen Shu is insane!”
“Wait, everyone, calm down. Have you forgotten the purpose of this show? They wouldn’t allow a perfect crime to happen, it would mislead viewers and encourage crime!”
“Good point, but honestly, they have no way to convict Chen Shu.”
Meanwhile, Chen Shu had returned to his peaceful life.
To outsiders, he and Su Xiaoxiao seemed like an ordinary pair of siblings, living happily, as if nothing had happened. That case was gradually being forgotten.
“Brother,” Su Xiaoxiao spoke after dinner, as the wind picked up outside, signaling an incoming storm. “It’s been so long. Are the police really not coming back?”
Chen Shu ruffled her hair. “Sister, I promised you a perfect crime. Now, there’s not a single piece of evidence against us. The police can’t do anything. So don’t worry, just forget about it.”
“But…” Su Xiaoxiao glanced toward the yard. “The body is still buried there. I can’t stop feeling anxious. Brother, should we move it now that the police aren’t watching anymore?”
“No need,” Chen Shu refused again. “The first time, they suspected us and searched the house with a warrant. But they found nothing, so they won’t look at the yard again.”
“Let the body stay buried here forever.”
“Time will erase everything.”
Hearing this, Su Xiaoxiao nodded firmly. Over the past half month, her trust in Chen Shu had grown unshakable. Maybe she had immersed herself too deeply in the role, she felt a strong dependency on him as an older brother.
Of course, stepping out of character, she knew she was just an actress on a reality show, and the show would end in three days.
Three days! If the police couldn’t arrest them by then, they would win!
Honestly, Su Xiaoxiao found it unbelievable. After she left the police station last time, she was already amazed by Chen Shu’s plans. She thought they would last a few more days at most.
But now, she realized, from the moment they arrived in the village, Chen Shu had orchestrated everything to the point where the police still had no leads.
Although the rules forbade contestants from using the internet, she was sure she had gained a massive fan following. Her popularity had reached new heights all thanks to Chen Shu.
She also understood that her role had little impact on the case. Everything was controlled by Chen Shu. Simply put, she was winning effortlessly.
That night, as expected, heavy rain poured down.
After cleaning up the dinner table, Su Xiaoxiao went to the kitchen, perfectly fitting her role as the dutiful little sister.
Meanwhile, Chen Shu sat in the living room, listening to the rain and watching a movie. Everything seemed peaceful, as if their lives would continue undisturbed.
Boom!
A loud thunderclap echoed. The TV screen suddenly lost its colors, turning into static.
Since they lived in the western suburbs, bad weather often disrupted the TV signal. Chen Shu didn’t mind. He got up and turned off the TV and the screen went dark.
But suddenly, Chen Shu saw red lights reflected in the black screen.
Police cars! They were parked right outside the house.
He spun around, dozens of police vehicles lined up along the road. Two or three dozen officers rushed forward, surrounding the house! Leading them, Wang Zheng strode through the rain in a raincoat.
Why were they here again? Chen Shu was curious. He didn’t believe they had found any evidence. So why such a big scene tonight?
Bang!
The door was kicked open, Wang Zheng stepped in first, his face grim. “Chen Shu, we now have solid evidence linking you to the Liu Liang case. You are under arrest, do not resist!”
Chen Shu chuckled. “Officer Wang, back again? You already interrogated me last time. I told you, I have nothing to do with this case.”
“Enough nonsense!” Wang Zheng snapped. “Still trying to deny it?!”
Chen Shu spread his hands. “Alright then. You claim you have evidence? Show it. If this is another baseless arrest, I’ll sue you for unlawful enforcement!”
“Brother…”
At that moment, Su Xiaoxiao walked out of the kitchen, her face filled with guilt.
Then she looked at Chen Shu and said, “Brother… I’m sorry, I confessed.”
