The netizens who had gone out to curse online found out that Chen Shu and his sister had returned home and immediately clicked into the livestream again.

Everyone was on high alert.

They all wanted to know what had happened that even Su Haoran, with his police dogs, couldn’t find the body.

Did Su Haoran make a mistake and miss a key detail? Or did this ordinary guy take advantage of the camera transitions to secretly move the body?

Of course, most people believed that Su Haoran had messed up. After all, they had seen Chen Shu’s lazy attitude firsthand.

There was no way he would go out of his way to move a body, it didn’t fit his style at all.

All the cameras installed on the building were turned on, fully capturing Chen Shu and his sister in the livestream. Every move they made was clearly visible to the audience.

Deep, suspenseful background music began to play.

Chen Shu held Su Xiaoxiao’s hand, stepping into the damp courtyard. Mud and wet dirt clung to the soles of their shoes.

Stopping at the center, he came to a halt.

“Brother, is the body still here?” Su Xiaoxiao lowered her head, looking at the ground in front of her.

“Yeah, the body has always been here,” Chen Shu replied.

“But…” Su Xiaoxiao looked puzzled. “The body has been buried for four days. It should have started to smell. Why didn’t the police dogs pick up on it? That’s really strange.”

Chen Shu crouched down and said, “Don’t forget, it rained heavily in Haicheng last night. That alone was enough to wash away most of the scent.”

“Plus, any traces of disturbed soil were also erased by the rain. Now the whole yard is just one big muddy mess.”

Su Xiaoxiao could understand the second part, but she wasn’t convinced by the first.

“Brother, those are trained police dogs. Even if the rain washed away some of the scent, it shouldn’t have completely fooled them. Their sense of smell is extremely sharp!”

“Exactly,” Chen Shu nodded. “Because their noses are so sharp, they can also pick up scents that humans can’t.”

Su Xiaoxiao was confused. “What do you mean?”

“When I went to the countryside yesterday to buy lamb for you, I also grabbed a handful of fertilizer from the shop owner’s house,” Chen Shu explained.

“Fertilizer?” Su Xiaoxiao sniffed the air. “I don’t smell anything.”

Chen Shu chuckled. “Of course you don’t. You don’t have a dog’s nose.”

Hearing this, Su Xiaoxiao suddenly understood.

“Brother, I get it! You used a small amount of fertilizer to interfere with the police dogs’ sense of smell! Since it wasn’t a large amount, humans couldn’t detect it, but for the dogs, the scent was overwhelming!”

“It distracted them from the body…” Her words instantly set the livestream chat on fire.

“Whoa, what does that mean? Can someone explain in simple terms?”

“I got it! The heavy rain last night washed away some of the body’s scent. Then, Chen Shu used a small amount of fertilizer to mask the rest of it.”

“Exactly! Since it wasn’t a strong smell, Su Haoran and the officers didn’t notice anything unusual, but the police dogs, with their sensitive noses, got confused.”

“No wonder Chen Shu insisted on going to the countryside. Buying lamb was just a cover, he was actually there to grab fertilizer!”

“Right, and he didn’t buy it from a store because the investigation team would have tracked that. If they found out he bought fertilizer, they’d suspect him of hiding a body!”

“Heavy rain, a muddy yard, and a mistaken time of death. Chen Shu took advantage of perfect timing, location, and circumstance!”

“Holy crap, this guy wasn’t slacking off at all?!”

The audience was in shock. In their minds, Chen Shu was just a lazy bum.

But now, they were seeing a completely different side of him. The contrast was too much, leaving them utterly stunned.

Su Xiaoxiao was also frozen in place. She couldn’t believe it. This ordinary guy had completely shattered her expectations. So he wasn’t just good at playing along with interrogations, he actually had some real tricks up his sleeve?

After a moment, Su Xiaoxiao asked a very professional question that even the audience thought was impressive.

“But, Brother, I still don’t quite understand.”

“The rain washing away the scent and the fertilizer interfering with the dogs, those factors are unpredictable.”

“So how did you balance everything?”

“Balance?” Chen Shu shook his head. “You can’t balance it.”

“Huh?” Su Xiaoxiao’s mouth twitched. “So… you were just gambling? Betting that the police dogs wouldn’t pick up on it?”

“Exactly,” Chen Shu admitted.

In his past life, he had seen the movie Sheep Without a Shepherd, where the main character used fertilizer to confuse police dogs and successfully evade a search. So he had simply applied the same method here.

Would it work? Honestly, even he wasn’t sure.

“If the dogs had detected the body, we would’ve been…” Su Xiaoxiao suddenly felt a chill. She was amazed at Chen Shu’s guts but also terrified. This whole plan relied heavily on luck.

If the fertilizer hadn’t worked and the body had been found, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

“Don’t overthink it,” Chen Shu reassured her, placing his hands on her shoulders. “Since the dogs got confused, it just means fate is on our side.”

Su Xiaoxiao took a long moment to calm herself.

Then she said, “We should hurry up and move the body. The police didn’t find it this time, but they’ll definitely come back. Next time, we might not be so lucky.”

She thought her reasoning was solid, Chen Shu would surely agree. But instead, he shook his head.

“No need. Let’s leave it here for now. Even though we’ve temporarily cleared suspicion, they’re still watching us closely. We can’t make any sudden moves.”

“Alright,” Su Xiaoxiao nodded. Thinking about everything that had happened tonight, she let out a deep breath.

Then, feeling incredibly lucky, she added, “Brother, we really got lucky. Your plan fooled the police officers and the dogs, and on top of that, they even got Liu Liang’s time of death wrong.”

“It just so happened to match the day we went to the countryside.”

“Giving us a perfect alibi.”

“It’s like fate is really on our side…”

Before she could finish speaking, she saw Chen Shu’s lips curve into a mysterious smile.

Then, she heard him say,  “Sis, think carefully… Did we really go to the countryside on April 2nd?”
