It was already midnight. Inside Interrogation Room No. 2, Su Xiaoxiao sat uneasily, her eyes fixed on the closed iron door.

During the interrogation, she had felt secretly delighted, the investigation team had miscalculated the timeline. By sheer luck, it coincided with the time she was supposed to be out of town.

That meant she had a solid alibi.

Plus, with her brother’s prior instructions, she could hold out for a few more days. This was an unexpected stroke of luck!

But just now, she had overheard Captain Wang instructing Su Haoran to search their house for the body. Despair washed over her.

After all, on the day Liu Liang died, she had personally seen her brother carrying the body out with a shovel. The corpse was buried in the yard.

There was no hope left.

At the end of the day, her brother was just an amateur. His methods weren’t foolproof, even if he had anticipated the police’s arrival and simulated an interrogation for her.

She had already been impressed by his planning, but in the end, they were still one step behind.

Tap tap.

Hurried footsteps echoed down the hallway. Through the small window in the iron door, she saw Su Haoran rushing back.

“Looks like they found the body,” Su Xiaoxiao sighed helplessly.

“Haoran, you’re back!” In the office, Qin Min, who was flipping through interrogation notes, stood up when he heard the footsteps.

“Where’s Captain Wang?” Su Haoran asked.

“In Interrogation Room No. 1, keeping an eye on Chen Shu,” Qin Min replied. Glancing at Su Haoran, who was covered in dirt, he added, “You must’ve found the body, huh? Look at you, you’re filthy. Go change first?”

“No need.” Su Haoran’s expression was unnatural as he slumped into a chair, panting.

Moments later, Captain Wang Zheng walked out of Interrogation Room No. 1 and immediately asked, “Haoran, what’s the situation? Where was the body found?”

“Captain Wang…” Su Haoran stammered, his face tense. “This… this isn’t good. We didn’t find Liu Liang’s body at Chen Shu’s house!”

“What?!” Wang Zheng was stunned.

Meanwhile, the live broadcast audience, already aware of this twist, flooded the chat.

“What the hell is going on?! We literally saw Chen Shu bury the body in his yard, why isn’t it there?!”

“Did the police dogs lose their sense of smell?”

“Damn, let me search. I’d find it in a second!”

“Could the body have been moved?”

“No way! We’ve been watching the livestream almost the whole time. Apart from a few moments when the feed switched, we had eyes on him nearly 24/7.”

“He’s just an amateur, would he even think that far ahead? If he planned to move the body, why bury it in the yard in the first place? That’s just creating unnecessary risks!”

“What exactly happened? Explain clearly,” Wang Zheng demanded.

“We searched his house, his yard, even the entire surrounding area. The police dogs didn’t pick up a single trace of a body. There were no signs of it being hidden anywhere,” Su Haoran said, frowning.

“Are you sure you didn’t miss something?” Wang Zheng pressed.

“Captain, you know my skills. Are you questioning my abilities?” Su Haoran seemed irritated.

Sensing the tension, Qin Min quickly stepped in. “Alright, calm down. We’ve worked together for so long, we all know what each other is capable of. Haoran wouldn’t make a mistake.”

He turned to Wang Zheng.

“You’ve seen the situation for yourself. Chen Shu has an alibi, and there’s no body in his house. That means you got it wrong. Su Xiaoxiao is still our prime suspect, but the second suspect isn’t him.”

“He was framed.”

“We were all fooled by Su Xiaoxiao.”

“The real second suspect is someone else. Chen Shu was just a decoy!”

Wang Zheng shot Qin Min a glare. “Get out of here with that nonsense. My judgment is never wrong.”

“Then show me the evidence. Right now, I feel more sorry for Chen Shu than anything. Why are you still targeting him?” Qin Min held out his hand as if asking for proof.

“If you don’t understand, maybe say less,” Wang Zheng retorted.

“Yeah, yeah, I don’t understand.” Qin Min rolled his eyes and sat down.

The three of them stood in silence for a long time.

Meanwhile, the livestream was dead quiet except for the flood of comments.

“Are they arguing?”

“Wow, this is the first time in six episodes that the trio has had a serious disagreement.”

“Could the amateur guy actually be smart?”

“Nah, the investigation team is just embarrassing themselves. First, they miscalculated the time of death, and now they can’t even find the body? I’m starting to think this amateur bribed his way in!”

The office remained tense. Finally, Wang Zheng sighed, then turned and walked toward Interrogation Room No. 1. He opened the door.

Inside, Chen Shu sat waiting. “Captain Wang, where’s the evidence?”

His voice was sharp, carrying a hint of amusement.

Wang Zheng took a deep breath. Even though he was reluctant, he finally said, “Alright. You’re free to go for now.”

“I told you I didn’t do anything. Man, that was scary. But you guys are impressive, solving the misunderstanding so quickly. Phew!” Chen Shu let out a long sigh and even praised Wang Zheng.

But to Wang Zheng, it sounded downright mocking. His face burned with embarrassment.

The door to Interrogation Room No. 2 opened. Su Xiaoxiao walked out, her head down. She had already prepared her final farewell speech.

But then, she suddenly heard Chen Shu’s voice, “Sis, we can go home now. Captain Wang misunderstood us, we were framed.”

“Huh?” Su Xiaoxiao froze, completely stunned.

What… what was going on? Was this not over yet?

Side by side, the two of them walked out of the police station. Once they were far enough away, Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t hold back anymore.

“Brother, what the hell happened?”

“Where’s the body?”

“Wasn’t it buried in the yard?”

“How did they not find it? The police dogs have crazy good noses!”
