“Brother…” Su Xiaoxiao curled up in Chen Shu’s arms, crying her heart out but soon, she quickly wiped away her tears and said, “Brother, you should go. I’m fine. It was just a joke between classmates, it’s nothing serious, please don’t get involved, okay?”

As she spoke, her eyes swept toward the surgical scalpel clenched tightly in Chen Shu’s hand. She knew her brother would definitely try to kill someone for her.

No, she couldn’t let him get dragged into this again. Besides, Su Xiaoxiao already had a plan. She would use the head of the security team to get rid of Yamamoto Sakura. There was no need for her brother to act. He had worked so hard to break free from the grip of the police. He had already done so much for her.

“A joke?” Chen Shu took a deep breath, his voice trembling with anger. “Who jokes like that? Don’t lie to me anymore. I finally understand now what you’ve been through. The sweet little sister I used to know, she’s been bullied into this state. How could I possibly just stand by and do nothing?”

Su Xiaoxiao shook her head frantically. “No, you don’t understand. Yamamoto Sakura’s father is the principal. We’re just ordinary people, we have nothing. There’s no way we can fight them. Please, don’t do anything stupid!”

“So what if we can’t fight them? I just want justice! And if I can’t get that—” Chen Shu’s gaze darkened. Then, supporting his sister, he helped her down from the rooftop.

As they entered the corridor, the school security guard Liang Wei came walking toward them from the other end.

“You were supposed to leave after ten minutes! What are you still doing here?” he barked, pointing at Chen Shu.

Then he caught sight of Su Xiaoxiao and frowned.

“My sister was bullied. Didn’t you see?” Chen Shu shot back.

“I… I saw…” Liang Wei stammered, then quickly straightened his posture and said, “But I think you’d better leave. Hand your sister over to me, I’ll take her to the infirmary.”

Chen Shu froze for a moment, then asked sharply, “You’re in charge of school security. I just told you my sister was bullied. Shouldn’t you be asking who did it? Or is it that… you already know? You’ve seen her being bullied before, haven’t you? You know who did it?”

“I…” Liang Wei was at a loss for words, but quickly steeled himself and barked, “So what if I do? Her father is the principal! What can you do to her? For your sister’s sake, it’s better you let this go. Keep things quiet and let it blow over!”

Chen Shu ignored him. He held onto Su Xiaoxiao and shoved past Liang Wei, heading straight for the teachers’ office.

Under the white lights of the hallway, moths swarmed around the bulbs, casting fluttering shadows over the brother and sister. Their steps were heavy. Every movement took effort.

Liang Wei stared at Su Xiaoxiao’s back, his heart clenched.

“Looks like I need to act fast. If I corner these siblings too much, and Su Xiaoxiao decides to expose my secret, I’m done for. And what if she already told her brother about it?”

“Damn it. What do I do now? I can still use the school environment to kill one person. But her brother? That’ll be a lot harder.”

Liang Wei fell into anxious thought, slamming a fist against the stairwell railing.

BANG! The door to the office flew open from Chen Shu’s kick. An Jiayu was sitting in her chair, staring off into space. She wasn’t grading papers. She wasn’t preparing lessons. Her hands kept rubbing over her belly, her face full of anxiety and unease.

The loud noise startled her, she looked up to see a man walking in, supporting Su Xiaoxiao, showing no respect at all.

“Su Xiaoxiao! What are you doing here instead of studying in class? And what’s with this mess? Did you fall into a toilet or something?”

An Jiayu fanned her nose, her face openly filled with disgust.

Chen Shu asked, “Are you my sister’s homeroom teacher?”

An Jiayu looked up at him. “Yes. What about it?”

Chen Shu pointed at Su Xiaoxiao’s red, swollen cheeks. “My sister’s been bullied by students in your class multiple times. As her teacher, you never stepped in to stop it? And why didn’t you notify me about something this serious?”

“Huh,” An Jiayu dismissed him with a sip of tea. “Kids fight all the time, it’s totally normal. Nothing serious will come of it.”

“Normal?” Chen Shu felt like his chest was going to explode. He shouted, “Look at her face. Look at the bruises on her body. You call this ‘normal’? If this continues, my sister could be bullied to death and teachers like you, who do nothing, will be just as guilty as the bullies!”

An Jiayu glanced at the bruises on Su Xiaoxiao’s arms. She slowly set her teacup down and said, “It takes two hands to clap. There are so many students at school, why is it only your sister who gets bullied?”

“Sometimes, you need to take a good look at yourself. Don’t go blaming everyone else for everything.” Her words hit like a slap.

In the livestream chat, viewers erupted.

“Say hi to her husband, because I’ve got words for him too!”

“This woman is infuriating! Is this how a teacher should talk?”

“Even Liang Wei sounds better than her. What did he even see in her, just her looks?”

“No, seriously, this is way too familiar. When I was a kid and got bullied, my homeroom teacher said the exact same thing. I’ll never forget it!”

“I’m DONE.”

“No one involved in Su Xiaoxiao’s bullying is innocent!”

Chen Shu let out a bitter laugh. His head throbbed with the force of his anger. He rubbed his temples, trying to collect himself. Then, suddenly, he noticed An Jiayu’s pregnant belly.

He spoke again. “Miss An, you’re going to be a mother soon. I think you, more than anyone, should understand how I feel as a big brother. When your child is born, if they’re ever bullied like this in school, would you still say these same words?”

An Jiayu flinched, she instinctively moved to hide her belly behind the desk.

“Alright, alright,” she muttered, “After class, I’ll have a proper talk with Yamamoto Sakura. You shouldn’t hang around here. You’ll only distract your sister from her studies. The college entrance exams are coming up. Don’t stir up unnecessary trouble. That’s my advice.”

Su Xiaoxiao quickly pulled on Chen Shu’s arm. “Brother, you should go. I’m really okay. If things get too big and the principal gets involved, I’m afraid for you…”

Chen Shu stood there silently for a moment. Finally, he relented. “Sigh… alright.”

“Heh,” An Jiayu chuckled quietly, as if mocking them, a pair of siblings still forced to bow under pressure from the principal.

Then she turned to Su Xiaoxiao. “Alright, Su Xiaoxiao. I can see you’re in no state to study tonight. Go back to your dorm and clean up. Oh, and tomorrow at 9 a.m., we have our senior year presentation. You probably can’t wear that uniform anymore. Make sure to borrow one.”

Su Xiaoxiao nodded. “Yes, Miss An.”

She tugged on Chen Shu’s arm and started to leave the office. Suddenly, Chen Shu paused and turned back. “Miss An,” he called softly.

An Jiayu frowned. “What now?”

Chen Shu said, “I hope your child is born safe and sound.”
