- Chapter 175 - Washing Her Hair
Under the harsh white light, the girls’ bathroom was filled with a vile scene.
Yamamoto Sakura gripped Su Xiaoxiao’s chin and poured glue into her mouth. The malice in her actions went far beyond what a student should be capable of. Around them, the other girls merely watched, no one dared to step in. Everyone was afraid of becoming the next target.
Some students even laughed and joked heartlessly, treating the bullying as entertainment to spice up their dull senior year lives. The cruelty of human indifference was fully exposed under the lights.
“Seal your mouth shut. Let’s see if you dare to rat again,” Yamamoto Sakura sneered. The glue bottle was nearly empty, but she still wasn’t satisfied. She jammed it into Su Xiaoxiao’s mouth. Then she turned around to the other students and shouted, “That goes for all of you too, if anyone talks, this is what you’ll get!”
The students watching backed away in fear, shaking their heads. Yamamoto Sakura raised her chin and smiled with satisfaction. She enjoyed the thrill of bullying. She felt no fear after all, her father was the principal of this private school. No matter what happened, he would cover for her.
Even the homeroom teacher, who was pregnant, would only offer a symbolic scolding at most. Aside from that, who dared say a word against her?
“Urgh…” Su Xiaoxiao collapsed to the floor, clutching her throat and gagging violently. The thick glue filled her mouth. She fought the nausea, forcing it out bit by bit. Her clothes were stained with glue, her hair soaked and sticking to her chest.
Suddenly, a loud voice barked from outside, “What are you all still doing here? School’s over!”
The girls scattered at once. A man in a security uniform stepped inside. His eyes scanned the scene, Yamamoto Sakura standing casually with her arms crossed, and Su Xiaoxiao curled up in the corner, still vomiting.
“We were just messing around,” Yamamoto Sakura said casually, smiling at Liang Wei.
“Oh, oh,” Liang Wei nodded, his fierce expression softening when he looked at the principal’s daughter. He chuckled and said, “Alright, it’s Saturday. You seniors rarely get time off, go home and rest up. Don’t hang around here.”
Yamamoto Sakura glanced at Su Xiaoxiao one last time, hands in her pockets, and left, brushing past Liang Wei. Su Xiaoxiao remained alone, stunned, staring blankly for a long time before slowly pushing herself up with the help of the wall.
“You… you okay?” Liang Wei asked.
Su Xiaoxiao didn’t respond.
“Don’t mess with her. You can’t afford to. This whole school belongs to her family,” Liang Wei warned. “Judging by how you look, I’m guessing your background’s pretty average. If something like this happens again, try to avoid her.”
Then he added, “Do you live far? Want me to call your parents to pick you up?”
Hearing that, Su Xiaoxiao panicked and quickly replied, “No, no! I’m fine!” She ran out of the bathroom.
“Call Chen Shu now!”
“Damn it, I can’t take this anymore. Only killing Yamamoto Sakura will ease my anger!”
“No can do. According to her identity card, Su Xiaoxiao doesn’t want to burden her brother anymore. She’s almost graduating anyway, she’d rather endure it alone.”
“The damn director is doing this on purpose, letting her suffer but keeping Chen Shu in the dark. This way, both siblings are completely overpowered by the Yamamoto duo!”
“And Liang Wei and his wife are just Yamamoto Yuu’s lapdogs!”
Su Xiaoxiao walked downstairs with her backpack. She checked the time, 9 p.m. The school was deserted, she was the only student left. She wanted to go back to the dorm and change her clothes, to wash the glue and dirt off her hair and face. But she was too late, the dorm gates were already locked.
She stood there, unsure what to do. All alone, she walked slowly through the campus. She couldn’t let her brother see her like this, if he found out she was being bullied at school…
“Hey.” Before she realized it, she’d wandered to the school gate. Standing there was the head of security, Liang Wei called out to her. “You really don’t want me to call your parents to come pick you up?”
“No… no need…” Su Xiaoxiao shook her head and tried to hurry away. But suddenly, she stopped, turned back to look at Liang Wei, and timidly asked, “Um… I’m a student from Class 4, Grade 12. Ms. An is my homeroom teacher. Could you do me a favor?”
Liang Wei said, “Go ahead.”
Su Xiaoxiao said, “I don’t want my brother to know I was bullied. He’ll worry too much… So… could I borrow your bathroom to wash my hair?”
Everyone at the school knew that An Jiayu and Liang Wei were married. Haicheng High was a large campus with staff housing, and most teachers lived there. The housing was close, just ten minutes from the main gate.
“Hmm…” Liang Wei looked at the pitiful girl in front of him. He thought about the fact that he was going to be a father soon, and couldn’t help but feel some sympathy. He sighed. “Alright. Come with me.”
He led Su Xiaoxiao toward the staff dormitory. Along the way, he chatted aimlessly. “Sigh, students these days are really hard to manage. When my kid’s born, I just hope they grow up healthy. If it’s a girl, even better, they say daughters are like little cotton jackets for dads… haha…”
Liang Wei rambled on to himself. His wife was already five months pregnant. The due date was getting close, he was about to become a father!
“Wait a minute. According to the timeline, Liang Wei should have had a child three years later. But he’s still alone. What happened to the kid?”
“Does that mean his wife never gave birth?”
“Haha, maybe the kid wasn’t his!”
“No way. They’re such a loving couple. It had to be his. Maybe his wife died in a fire, both mother and child gone?”
Amid the audience’s speculation, Liang Wei and Su Xiaoxiao arrived at the third floor of the staff dorms. He opened the door and switched on the lights. A standard two-bedroom apartment appeared.
It was Saturday, and the senior students had gone home. As for Ms. An, maybe she was busy, or called into a meeting, she hadn’t returned yet.
Liang Wei pointed at the bathroom. “Go on, but make it quick, three minutes, tops. I’m a grown man bringing a female student home. If anyone sees, people will start talking.”
“Okay. Thank you.” Su Xiaoxiao stepped into the bathroom and closed the door behind her.
She turned on the hot water tap. As the water splashed loudly, she looked into the mirror, her hair was a mess, her cheeks red from the bullying. She held back her tears.
She tested the water with her hand, still cold… she waited. While she did, she looked over the counter cluttered with makeup and unfamiliar shampoo brands, clearly Ms. An’s. There was also a bottle of hair oil labeled “Ditong.” (Organic moisturizing and repair oil. A popular hair growth option.) That one was definitely Liang Wei’s.
The water was finally warm, Su Xiaoxiao closed her eyes and leaned over the sink. Warm water flowed over her scalp, melting the dried glue and washing away the filth from earlier.
Splash. The water roared, rinsing her hair and her neck. Once her hair was completely soaked, she turned off the tap. She squeezed some shampoo into her hands and began scrubbing hard. White foam formed between her fingers.
About a minute passed. She opened her eyes, reaching for the tap to rinse her hair, but then, she saw it. The foam in her palms, which should have been white was streaked with red.
Blood.
