No matter how hard Zhang Bingbing tried to stop them, the other media reporters still surged forward, chasing after Chen Shu. They raised their cameras and snapped away at his back. It was almost as if Chen Shu was deliberately waiting for them, his pace slowed, and he eventually arrived at the morgue door.

He raised his hand and pushed it open.

With a long creaking sound, the unsettling scene inside the morgue once again appeared before everyone’s eyes. Chen Shu stepped inside, the reporters, cameras rolling, followed right behind him.

“Mr. Chen Shu, we heard you failed to complete your task, how do you feel right now?”

“Mr. Chen Shu, you committed a series of crimes in an attempt to retrieve bone marrow. But in the end, you weren’t caught by the police, and you didn’t get the bone marrow either. So, would you still consider this a ‘perfect crime’?”

Question after question was thrown his way, but Chen Shu didn’t respond. Suddenly, he raised the scalpel in his hand and aimed it at Liang Wei’s abdomen. This moment was caught live by the filming crew of Inescapable Justice, instantly shocking the audience.

“What the hell is Chen Shu doing?! Is he not satisfied after dismembering all the other female corpses and now wants to cut up Liang Wei too?”

“Wait! Do you guys remember that night when Chen Shu gave Liang Wei a ‘bun’ to eat?”

“Yeah, yeah, at first everyone thought it came from Su Xiaoxiao, then from Yamamoto Sakura, but it turned out to be from an unidentified female corpse!”

“Guys, is it possible that Chen Shu actually took the bone marrow from Yamamoto Sakura’s body that night, but didn’t know if the mission still counted since Su Xiaoxiao had already died? Logically, the production team should have changed the task, after all, the marrow would be useless now. Still, Chen Shu extracted it anyway and stored it inside Liang Wei’s body for safekeeping!”

“Holy crap, I just realized something. If the director knew that Chen Shu got the bone marrow early on, what would he have done?”

“He would definitely say, ‘Su Xiaoxiao is dead. What use is the bone marrow now? The task still counts as failed!'”

“Exactly! Director Zhang is such a two-faced hypocrite, he’d totally pull that!”

“Chen Shu must have seen this coming, that’s why he pretended he didn’t have the marrow, giving Zhang a chance to declare the mission a failure first! Only after that did he reveal it!”

“Zhang Sheng: ‘Wait, I got played too?!'”

“Liang Wei: ‘Turns out I’m not the only clown here, ahahaha!'”

Watching Chen Shu’s actions unfold, the audience finally got it. Chen Shu was playing 4D chess, manipulating both the events inside the show and the people outside of it. Everyone had seen how Director Zhang Sheng operated in past episodes. He would go to any length to see Chen Shu fail.

The task itself was already full of loopholes. If Zhang Sheng had known that Chen Shu had retrieved the marrow, he would’ve waited until the last second to declare, “It doesn’t count, Su Xiaoxiao is already dead. The task is invalid!” And use that to announce Chen Shu’s failure.

But Chen Shu saw this coming, so he deliberately kept quiet about having the marrow, making everyone believe he hadn’t retrieved it at all. That way, Zhang Sheng would confidently say, “The task clearly stated you must retrieve the bone marrow. You didn’t. That means you failed!”

A textbook case of double standards, so Chen Shu waited. Waited for Zhang Sheng to lay down the final victory condition with no time left to change it. Only in the last ten minutes did he reveal the bone marrow.

That’s right, he had set it all up. Even in the game, he managed to outplay the people behind the game.

In the director’s control room, Zhang Sheng stared at the flood of on-screen comments. His whole body went numb. They were right, he really would have done what they said. If he had known earlier that Chen Shu had the bone marrow, he absolutely would’ve pretended not to, and then at the very end, say it was meaningless.

Damn it! Now what? The whole plan had fallen apart!

He watched the main screen as Chen Shu, scalpel in hand, was slicing open Liang Wei’s abdomen, and started to panic. He frantically radioed Zhang Bingbing.

“Bingbing, Bingbing, do you copy? Answer immediately!”

“Copy, Director. What’s wrong?” Zhang Bingbing responded.

“Quick, drive the reporters out of there! Don’t let them film Chen Shu retrieving the bone marrow! Right now, not only has he avoided getting arrested, he’s completed the task! This paints the picture of a purpose-driven, perfect crime! If this footage gets out, people might think Inescapable Justice is glorifying crime! Go, stop them now!”

Zhang Bingbing hesitated. “But Director… you’re the one who invited them.”

“I don’t care who invited them! Just get them out of there, now!” Zhang Sheng snapped.

Back at the morgue, Zhang Bingbing followed orders and turned to the media crew. “Hey, everyone, the director has spoken, you need to leave immediately. This footage is under the show’s copyright protection. No more filming.”

But the reporters fired back.

“We’re already here.”

“Your director invited us. We’re not leaving.”

“Yeah. Unless your director personally comes to kick us out.”

Zhang Bingbing pursed her lips, helpless. She couldn’t get rid of them at all.

Meanwhile, Chen Shu continued with his work.

It was clear to see, the blade in his hand moved as if he were about to cut out Liang Wei’s heart and lungs, slicing through his abdomen. Though the body was a hyper-realistic prop, it looked too convincing. Several female reporters operating the cameras started dry heaving but still pushed through, keeping the footage rolling.

Even Zhang Bingbing, watching from the side, had gone pale. She had always observed Chen Shu from the livestream. Now that she was on site, she realized just how terrifying this man really was, it didn’t even feel like acting anymore.

Cold-blooded murder was one thing, but dissecting a corpse like this, so casually, almost as if he enjoyed it?

Two minutes later, Chen Shu finally stopped, he set the scalpel aside. Then, with his right hand clad in white surgical gloves, he reached straight into Liang Wei’s abdominal cavity. After a few seconds of probing, he pulled out a red, viscous, soft, sponge-like tissue mass.

It was Yamamoto Sakura’s bone marrow!

Click, click. Camera shutters fired nonstop. The flashing camera lights lit the entire morgue with a sterile, glaring glow. And in that brightness, dressed in a white coat, Chen Shu held the marrow in both hands.

He looked directly into the camera and smiled, “One minute left. I got it!”

“Zoom in, get a close shot.”
