At this moment, after countless revisions and deductions, the reconstruction of the case was nearly identical to the truth, except for the detail of why Su Xiaoxiao called the police, which still remained uncertain. Other than that, everything else was spot on.

The live stream audience buzzed with discussion.

“95% accuracy. They only got Su Xiaoxiao’s reason for calling the police wrong, but that doesn’t really matter.”

“That little Yamamoto may be annoying, but he does have some skill.”

“Honestly, once they figured out Liang Wei was the body snatcher and knew everyone’s motives, it wasn’t that hard to piece together.”

“Oh, here we go again with the ‘you could’ve done it too’ talk. Don’t forget, you have a god’s-eye view. The investigation team was groping around in the dark. You think solving a case is that simple?”

“So why is Chen Shu still holding out? The whole sequence of events has been reconstructed. The murder weapon’s been found. His fingerprints are on it. Is he really waiting for the blood test report before confessing?”

“Maybe that bootlicking Zhang director told him to drag the show out a little longer. After all, for the production team, Liu Liang is a goldmine of traffic!”

“Liu Liang? Sounds tasty, but bro, you got the word wrong, it’s ‘liuliang’ as in ‘traffic.’”

“Dragging out the show, huh?”

In the director’s room, Zhang Sheng raised an eyebrow when he saw this comment. He felt it made a lot of sense. Chen Shu was already in a dead end. There was no reason for him not to confess unless he was deliberately helping the show squeeze out more viewership.

“This guy… really doing his job right down to the bitter end, still helping me out even as he ‘dies’?” Zhang Sheng chuckled, but then his expression darkened as he cursed, “Not like that clown Liang Wei, he got taken out in seconds last episode. What a waste. This episode lasted longer, but only because Chen Shu’s been merciful. Otherwise, he’d have been smashed to death by the porcelain when he entered the nurse’s office on the second night.”

Back in the interrogation room.

No matter how harshly Yamamoto Yuu scolded him, Chen Shu remained calm, eyes closed, resting.

Creak. About half an hour later, the iron door swung open. Qin Min entered, and a shaft of light cut into the dim room, landing perfectly on Chen Shu’s face.

At that moment, Chen Shu opened his eyes. His gaze sharpened as he looked straight at every member of the investigation team.

“Captain Wang, the blood test report is here,” Qin Min said, holding a yellow file folder.

“Here it is, the final nail in the coffin.”

“Looks like this episode really will end. Staying up late every day to watch has been killing my bedroom life with the wife.”

“At last the investigation team wins one, good ending.”

“Bros, I can’t bear to watch Chen Shu get reamed. I’m logging off. See you next episode.”

“Give it to me!” Amid the audience chatter, before Qin Min could even open the file, Yamamoto Yuu strode over and snatched the folder from his hands.

His glare was full of rage, fixed on Chen Shu, staring at the man who killed his daughter. Then he stepped right in front of Chen Shu less than half a meter away and ripped the folder open, pulling out the blood test report.

“Still refusing to cry until you see your coffin, huh? Here, have a good look.”

“The fingerprints on the weapon are yours. The blood is my daughter’s. What else do you have to say?”

“Hurry up and confess!”

His angry shout echoed through the small room. Yamamoto Yuu raised the report high, making sure Chen Shu could see it clearly. The tension in the room became suffocating. Silence filled the space. Every eye was locked on Chen Shu.

As soon as he said “I confess,” this episode, this entire case, would officially be over.

Tap, tap. Even the show’s host Zhang Bingbing, responsible for closing the episode, was waiting outside in the corridor, mic in hand, ready for the final wrap-up.

Everyone was waiting for Chen Shu to say those three words. Just three simple words.

“You stupid idiot.” Chen Shu finally spoke.

Exactly three words.

Zhang Bingbing heard this from outside. Instantly, she opened the door, prepared for the closing interview.

But…

Slam. She quickly shut the door again, pretending she had never been there.

Because she heard Yamamoto Yuu shout furiously at Chen Shu, “What did you say? You called me a ‘stupid idiot’?! The blood test report is right in front of you! You should be confessing, not insulting me!”

“Um…” Qin Min spoke up, as if he wanted to say something.

Yamamoto Yuu snapped, “You stay quiet! He killed my daughter. I want him to confess with his own mouth! Otherwise, how can I face my dead daughter? How can I face my title as a detective?”

Qin Min mumbled, “Oh… okay then…”

Yamamoto Yuu gritted his teeth and glared at Chen Shu again. “It’s right there in black and white. You can read, can’t you?”

Chen Shu finally said, “I can read just fine. But it seems you can’t. Open your dog eyes and look properly.”

“What do you mean?” Yamamoto Yuu was stunned. He saw no despair in Chen Shu’s eyes, only a mocking, biting smile.

A chill ran down Yamamoto Yuu’s spine. Panic gripped him. At once, he pulled the report closer, eyes locking onto the text. And there it was, clear as day.

“Based on comprehensive testing results: the blood found on the weapon does not match the victim’s blood. It is confirmed that the blood on the weapon does not belong to the deceased.”

The camera in the interrogation room zoomed in. Black letters on white paper. Shown to every single viewer.

“What the hell?!”

“That makes no sense! We clearly saw Chen Shu bash Sakura with that shovel. How can it not be her blood?!”

“Did Chen Shu sneak into the crime scene and wipe off Sakura’s blood? Remember the other night? He covered the camera, maybe that’s what he did then.”

“Hey, don’t talk nonsense. The crime scene was guarded by police all night. How could he get in?”

“The cops were bribed!”

“The cops are in on it!”

“Police: What the hell, even NPCs get this kind of blame now?”

“Stop joking. I’d sooner believe Qin Min tampered with the report.”

“Qin Min was bribed!”

“Qin Min is the inside man!”

“Qin Min: Big talk, huh?”

Yamamoto Yuu gripped the report tightly, his hands shaking. He rubbed his eyes over and over, thinking he must’ve read it wrong. But no matter how many times he checked, the words didn’t change.

Furious, Yamamoto Yuu spun around, pointing at Wang Zheng and the others. “Qin Min! Did you screw this up?! I seriously doubt your professionalism, all of you! You’re all a bunch of useless fools!”

“A bunch of idiots!”
