After filming wrapped up, Liang Wei swaggered into the hotel, feeling triumphant.

He wore sunglasses and a cape, his hands tucked behind his back as he strutted confidently into the room. Casting a glance at Su Xiaoxiao and Yamamoto Sakura, he smirked and greeted them.

“Well, hello, my defeated opponents.”

Yamamoto Sakura frowned. “What defeated opponents?”

“Heh, keep pretending,” Liang Wei took off his sunglasses and hung them on his collar, then turned to Sakura. “If I hadn’t scared Su Xiaoxiao by saying that Chen Shu was going to die, would she have come to you and started a fight?”

“And if that fight hadn’t happened, would you two have fallen off the building together? Even Chen Shu knows you two died indirectly because of me. And here you are watching the livestream like fools, acting like NPCs.”

“Huh?” Su Xiaoxiao was startled. “I was scared by you, but I only called the police because I was worried about my brother. I didn’t argue with Sakura. In fact, when I got to the nurse’s office, she was already lying there like a corpse.”

Yamamoto Sakura shot Liang Wei a cold look. “Idiot.”

“What?” Liang Wei gaped at her. “Then… then how did you ‘die’? I clearly saw you and Su Xiaoxiao fall together, you were even grabbing her hair!”

Sakura replied calmly, “I was ‘killed’ by Chen Shu with a shovel. Su Xiaoxiao only ‘died’ later, covering for him.”

Liang Wei’s smile froze. His supposed victory… vanished into thin air?

“Su Xiaoxiao and Sakura didn’t die because of me? Then what the hell was I scared of?”

Everything suddenly clicked in Liang Wei’s mind. “Chen Shu deliberately made me think their deaths were my fault so I’d confess and get dragged down with him. But in reality, I had nothing to do with how they ‘died.’ Even if the police figure everything out, it’s got nothing to do with me!”

“Sakura was ‘killed’ by Chen Shu. Su Xiaoxiao ‘died’ because she covered for him. What’s that got to do with me?”

“He tricked me into thinking I was involved to make me panic and confess to other crimes, like stealing corpses. So I started searching for my wife’s body to escape punishment for Sakura’s death but it was never my fault in the first place.”

“My wife was also hung out that window by Chen Shu. And when I ‘fell’ to my death, that wasn’t an accident, Chen Shu killed me to stop me from spilling the truth right in front of the police.”

“Goddammit!” Liang Wei’s brain ran at full speed. That was as far as he could piece it together for now.

“So… I was the real NPC all along?”

“Heh…” Liang Wei gave a bitter laugh.

Then he turned and glanced at the TV. The livestream showed the investigation team riding in the police car on the way to the station. Liang Wei gritted his teeth. “Where’s the remote? Hurry and switch to Chen Shu’s stream. I want to see the look of despair on his face.”

Yamamoto Sakura stuffed the remote under the blanket. “No. Chen Shu’s arrest is already a done deal. Now it’s time for my dad to shine. We’re watching him.”

Liang Wei walked over. “Watch your dad? What the hell, give me that remote!”

Yamamoto Sakura snapped, “Get lost.”

Liang Wei growled, “I’ll ask one more time. Are you giving it or not?”

Yamamoto Sakura glared. “Not giving it.”

Liang Wei yanked the blanket off her and lunged to grab the remote, but Sakura gripped it tightly in her hand. No matter how hard Liang Wei pulled, she refused to let go.

“Give it to me!” Liang Wei snarled.

“Not giving it!” Sakura shouted back.

Liang Wei grabbed her wrist and twisted, maybe a little too hard.

Yamamoto Sakura screamed in pain. “Ah! Stop!”

Liang Wei froze. “?”

Yamamoto Sakura blinked. “?”

Su Xiaoxiao quietly edged toward the door. “Should I… go?”

June 5th, 2:00 PM, City Police Department, Criminal Investigation Division. In the interrogation room, Chen Shu sat yawning, bleary-eyed from lack of sleep.

Creak. The iron door opened, Yamamoto Yuu and Wang Zheng walked in, sitting down behind the interrogation desk, their eyes locked onto Chen Shu.

Tap, tap. Yamamoto Yuu tapped the table and spoke.

“Hey. Do you really have the mood to sleep at a time like this? The blood test report will be ready any minute. Anything you want to say before that?”

Chen Shu shook his head. “Nothing to say.”

“Still so stubborn.” Yamamoto Yuu chuckled. He leaned back slightly, speaking with amusement. “Fine. Since we’ve got some time, let me walk you through the whole case. Piece by piece. Maybe I can break that hard head of yours.”

He reached over and took a file folder from Wang Zheng. Inside were four photos, Su Xiaoxiao, Chen Shu, Liang Wei, and Yamamoto Sakura along with their personal details.

“Liang Wei, thirty-five years old. His wife died in a fire six months ago. Her entire body was burned beyond recognition, only the skull remained.” Yamamoto Yuu pulled out Liang Wei’s photo and laid it on the table. “He stole corpses and organs to rebuild his wife’s body. So his crime of corpse theft is undeniable.”

“Yamamoto Sakura. My daughter.” He placed the second photo down. “A nurse at the hospital. Her bone marrow was a perfect match for your sister. You once offered a high price to buy it, but she refused. But with how close you are to your sister, there’s no way you’d give up that easily.”

“Su Xiaoxiao. Your sister. She has leukemia and desperately needs a bone marrow transplant.” With a smack, he slapped her photo on the table.

“And finally… you.” Yamamoto Yuu held up Chen Shu’s photo. “On June 3rd, your sister only had two days left. You were desperate. So you planned to kill my daughter and take her bone marrow. The plan started the moment you falsely accused my daughter of being a corpse thief.”

“You wanted Liang Wei to hear and suspect Sakura was stealing bodies. That made him panic and hide his wife’s body in Sakura’s office, framing her even more.”

“On June 3rd, Liang Wei came to the nurse’s office to stash the corpse, but Sakura caught him. They fought. The room got trashed. Liang Wei ended up injured by a falling cabinet. End of round one.”

“During that time, you made sure to be in the bathroom, taking a dump, creating a solid alibi for yourself. After Liang Wei left, you killed my daughter with the shovel.”

At that moment, Wang Zheng pulled out his phone and played a recording.

‘There’s a murder happening at Haicheng Central Hospital!’ It was Su Xiaoxiao’s emergency call.

“You told us you made that call. But when I checked the records, I found it wasn’t you, it was your sister.”

“And why did your sister call the police? Maybe because she knew what you were planning to do to Sakura. She wanted to stop you before it was too late.”

“But she was one step behind. She saw you kill Sakura with her own eyes. That’s why she was willing to take the blame for you.”

Wang Zheng shook his head sadly. “Our deduction is probably ninety percent accurate. Maybe a few details are off, but the main point remains, you killed Sakura. Chen Shu, this is the truth. Why keep stalling? What’s the point?”

Chen Shu closed his eyes and stayed silent.

Bang! Yamamoto Yuu slammed the table, roaring, “Idiot!”

“There’s an old saying in your country, ‘You won’t cry until you see the coffin.’ You won’t admit it until the blood report comes out, will you?”
