- Chapter 150 - Blood Test
“You’re saying you’re innocent?”
At Haicheng Central Hospital, just as several officers were about to shove Chen Shu into the police car, they heard him denying the charges again.
What the hell was he trying to pull?
Yamamoto Yuu glanced at Chen Shu and barked, “Innocent? How much did you drink to still be spouting crap like this?”
Chen Shu said firmly, “I said, I am not guilty!”
“Hey, Chen Shu,” Su Hao Ran stepped forward. “There’s no point dragging this out. Wasting time won’t help you. Besides, we’ve got the evidence. Whether you’re guilty or not is no longer up to you.”
Impatient, Yamamoto Yuu gave Chen Shu a hard shove toward the police car.
“What’s Chen Shu doing? Still refusing to admit guilt?”
“Oh, I get it. He’s trying to drag this episode out for us paying members. If this ends too quickly, our subscriptions would’ve been a waste, right?”
“Reasonable.”
“No problem here.”
Chen Shu turned his head and said to Yamamoto Yuu, “You keep claiming I killed Sakura. Fine. Show me your so-called evidence. I really have no idea how she died.”
“Qin Min, bring the fingerprint report.”
With a wave of his hand, Yamamoto Yuu called him over. Soon, Qin Min pulled a file from his bag and handed it over.
“Here, open those eyes of yours and take a good look,” Yamamoto Yuu said, flipping the file open. “At the crime scene, we found a bloodied shovel. The fingerprints on it? They’re yours, Chen Shu! You can read, right? Or do you want me to spell it out for you?”
Chen Shu shook his head. “You really are ridiculous.”
“Ridiculous how?” Yamamoto Yuu sneered.
Chen Shu said calmly, “You found a shovel with my fingerprints in the nurse’s office and claimed it was the murder weapon I used to kill Yamamoto Sakura. Don’t you think that’s absurd? There are only two or three shovels in the whole hospital. We use them to clean up trash from the floors. Of course my prints are on it.”
“Idiot,” Yamamoto Yuu snapped. “There’s my daughter’s blood on it too, and your prints. Isn’t that enough proof?”
Chen Shu replied, “Your daughter’s blood? Did you actually test it? Are you sure it’s hers? This hospital is still half-operating, you know. Injured patients do come in for treatment during the day. You saw blood on the shovel and immediately assumed it was your daughter’s. You think that makes sense?”
At this, Qin Min’s expression stiffened. Wang Zheng turned to him. “Forensic Qin, did you test the blood on the shovel? Is it definitely Yamamoto Sakura’s?”
Qin Min shook his head. “Yesterday, the officers only found the shovel at the crime scene after we got back to the station. I only had Chen Shu’s and Liang Wei’s blood samples on hand, none from Sakura. So I haven’t been able to match the shovel blood with hers yet.”
Su Hao Ran added, “A shovel hidden under a desk, freshly stained with blood, plus Chen Shu’s prints… that makes it the likely murder weapon no matter how you spin it.”
“Yeah, why’s he still denying it?” Wang Zheng muttered. “But fine, since he insists, let’s give him what he wants. Forensic Qin, how long for the results?”
“By tomorrow afternoon, most likely,” Qin Min replied.
Wang Zheng nodded. “Good. Then we’ll test it. No hurry, we can wait.”
“Alright. I’ll go retrieve Sakura’s blood sample from the morgue,” Qin Min said, gathering his tools before heading off.
Creak. The door opened. He stepped inside and approached Yamamoto Sakura’s corpse. Lifting the white sheet gently, he exposed her arm.
Pale, cold, slightly stiff. Inserting a sharp needle into her skin, Qin Min slowly drew several milliliters of blood. Once finished, he carefully covered her again.
Then turned and left.
“Let’s go, Chen Shu. Back to the station,” Wang Zheng called.
“I’m innocent. Why should I go with you?” Chen Shu stood firm, raising his hands. “Besides, without solid evidence, you have no right to cuff me. Is this how you enforce the law?”
Wang Zheng sighed. “Alright then. We’re suspecting your involvement in the ‘Sakura Fall’ case. Please cooperate and come with us for questioning. Good enough?”
“Why bother being polite?” Yamamoto Yuu snapped. “He’s just struggling in vain. I’ve seen plenty like him. There’s blood and prints on that shovel, it’s obviously the murder weapon. Whether tested or not, we have every right to detain him! You guys are too soft on criminals.”
With that, Yamamoto Yuu grabbed Chen Shu’s arm, trying to drag him to the police car. But he wasn’t strong enough. With a quick sidestep, Chen Shu sent him sprawling to the ground.
“Mr. Yamamoto, is this your idea of proper police work? A shovel at the scene, and that alone makes it the weapon? What if it’s just a coincidence?”
“What if someone planted it to frame me?”
“Baka!” Yamamoto Yuu got up and glared. “Fine. Keep running your mouth. When tomorrow’s results come back, we’ll see how you explain yourself then.”
Chen Shu asked, “And if the blood on that shovel isn’t Yamamoto Sakura’s? That would prove it’s not the murder weapon, wouldn’t it?”
Wang Zheng nodded. “Yes.”
“Good.” Chen Shu’s eyes turned cold as he stared at Yamamoto Yuu. “Remember what you said today, insulting my sister’s corpse, assaulting me, abusing your authority. When the results clear me, I’ll expect a proper explanation from you.”
Yamamoto Yuu sneered. “Fine. No problem.”
Chen Shu turned and climbed into the back seat of the police car. Under the night sky, the police vehicle rumbled to life and headed for the station.
At the hotel. “Hey, small buns,” Su Xiaoxiao asked, “Did my brother really ‘kill’ you with that shovel?”
“Yeah,” Yamamoto Sakura nodded, then suddenly scowled. “And who are you calling ‘small buns’?”
Su Xiaoxiao pouted. “So the blood on it really is yours?”
“Obviously,” Sakura replied.
Su Xiaoxiao rested her head on her arm. “But my brother’s never careless. Could he have secretly swapped out the blood on the shovel?”
“Heh,” Yamamoto Sakura scoffed. “The scene was sealed tight, with officers guarding it the whole time. Chen Shu never went near it after the shovel was discovered. No way he could’ve swapped anything. He’s just bluffing to save face.”
“Yawn~” Yamamoto Sakura yawned. “Just wait. Tomorrow afternoon, when the test results come in, he won’t be able to act tough anymore.”
Knock, knock. Someone knocked at the hotel door. Barefoot, Su Xiaoxiao padded over and opened it. Her eyes curved in a smile. “Yo, Liang Wei~”
“Welcome to the ‘Dead VIP’ suite.”
