Liang Wei came out looking confused, as if he had a question mark on his face.

The first thing he saw was over a dozen police officers standing outside the building, which instantly put him on edge. Then he spotted Chen Shu standing off to the side.

He froze. His whole body went numb.

Chen Shu must’ve found out he had betrayed him and called the police to expose his secret! It was over. His wife was as good as gone!

But then, as he stepped past the officers, he saw the two corpses lying on the ground. It was Yamamoto Sakura and Su Xiaoxiao.

“Huh? Why are they both dead? Weren’t they just fine a little while ago?” Liang Wei was completely stunned. He had just seen those two girls earlier. And didn’t Yamamoto Sakura expose Chen Shu’s plan? Wasn’t she supposed to have the upper hand?

And what about Su Xiaoxiao? Why was she dead too?

He couldn’t wrap his head around it.

But after a moment, he noticed something strange, despite being dead, Su Xiaoxiao’s hand was still tightly clutching Yamamoto Sakura’s hair.

A sudden possibility popped into his mind.

“When I left the nurse’s office, I ran into Su Xiaoxiao. I was venting and tried to scare her a little, telling her that her brother was about to be killed. Could it be… she got so mad trying to protect her brother that she went and confronted Sakura, and they ended up dying together?”

“Did they die… because of something I said?”

Liang Wei swallowed hard. He felt like he had just reached the peak of his life.

“I was the one who stole the corpses, and now these two are kind of… indirectly dead because of me.”

“I, Liang Wei, accidentally became the mastermind of the entire situation! Holy crap!”

But… thinking this far, Liang Wei’s excitement faded into resignation.

After all, Chen Shu knew his secret. As long as he pointed a finger at him, the police would search his room and find the missing body organs. In the end, he would still be arrested.

Chen Shu wasn’t going to let him off easy.

“Liang Wei!” Chen Shu’s voice rang out.

Liang Wei snapped out of it and looked up. Under the dim light of the building, his eyes met Chen Shu’s.

“Uh-oh, Liang Wei’s about to be done for.”

“Chen Shu won’t let him off the hook. Not only did he betray Chen Shu, he also scared Su Xiaoxiao, which led to her death. Of course Chen Shu is going to expose him.”

“Exactly. He was still useful before, but now? He’s disposable.”

Seeing Chen Shu’s red eyes, Liang Wei’s heart skipped a beat.

Well, if he’s going to expose me, so be it.

He had only committed two crimes, stealing corpses and indirectly being responsible for Su Xiaoxiao and Sakura’s deaths.

If Chen Shu exposed him, it’d likely only be for one of those. The second one? Nobody knew he was involved. It could be called the perfect crime.

“My sister’s body will be placed in the morgue. You’d better watch it carefully. Don’t let anyone steal it again!” Chen Shu said.

“Huh?” Liang Wei flinched.

What is Chen Shu playing now? Wasn’t he going to expose him?

“Uh… okay, okay. I’ll make sure it’s properly guarded,” Liang Wei quickly responded.

He couldn’t figure out Chen Shu’s thinking, but this meant he had a bit more time to live. Still, he wasn’t going to sit around and wait to die.

He wasn’t stupid, Chen Shu must have some other plan.

If Chen Shu didn’t expose him tonight, he would take the chance to move his wife somewhere else. That way, even if Chen Shu turned on him later, the police wouldn’t find any evidence.

“You tricked me once, but there won’t be a second time,” Liang Wei vowed silently.

At the same time, the livestream viewers were just as confused.

“What’s Chen Shu doing? Is he really going to cover for Liang Wei?”

“Yeah, Chen Shu knows Liang Wei betrayed him. And Su Xiaoxiao’s death is also partly on Liang Wei. Isn’t this the perfect chance to turn him in?”

“Wait, don’t forget, Chen Shu’s task isn’t complete yet. Maybe he still needs Liang Wei for something?”

“Like what?”

“His task was to get Yamamoto Sakura’s bone marrow. Now that she’s dead and going to the morgue, and Liang Wei is the morgue keeper… maybe Chen Shu wants to stay on good terms with him for a chance to retrieve the marrow?”

“That actually makes sense.”

“No no no. You guys are forgetting how Chen Shu operates. He’s never been soft. Before, we thought he was trying to team up with Liang Wei, but he was just using him. Chen Shu always works alone. He wouldn’t give Liang Wei any leverage.”

“I don’t get it anymore!”

“Wait, there’s one more possibility. Think about it, Su Xiaoxiao’s death is tied to Liang Wei, but there’s no way to convict him for it. If Chen Shu turns him in, he can only accuse him of stealing corpses. That’s not enough.”

“Holy… are you saying Chen Shu plans to take revenge personally?”

“Yeah! If he hands him over to the police, he’ll just go to prison. That won’t satisfy Chen Shu’s rage.”

In that instant, the audience figured it out. They knew Chen Shu well enough to know he wouldn’t go easy on someone like Liang Wei. Especially someone who had indirectly caused Su Xiaoxiao’s death.

He would definitely take matters into his own hands. That’s just how Chen Shu did things.

“Liang Wei, right?” At that moment, Yamamoto Yuu walked up and looked Liang Wei up and down.

“Yes, yes,” Liang Wei nodded quickly.

Yamamoto Yuu warned him, “You better keep a close eye on my daughter’s body. If any organs go missing, I won’t let you off easy.”

“Of course, of course,” Liang Wei replied eagerly.

“By the way,” Yamamoto Yuu suddenly asked, “You’ve been in this hospital a long time. Do you know if there was any bad blood between Su Xiaoxiao and my daughter?”

Liang Wei responded, “I do, I do.”

“Tell me,” Yamamoto Yuu demanded.

“Su Xiaoxiao needed a bone marrow transplant, and Yamamoto Sakura was the only match in the whole hospital. One night, I was just wandering around and bumped into Su Xiaoxiao. We chatted for a bit, and she asked me to make space in the morgue.”

“I asked if it was for her, and she said no… now that I think about it, seeing them both dead, maybe Su Xiaoxiao had planned all along to kill Sakura and take her bone marrow.”

He completely made it up, doing everything he could to distance himself from the situation. He couldn’t let the police know that it was his threats that drove Su Xiaoxiao to confront Sakura.

Yamamoto Yuu clenched his teeth and asked again, “Where were you when it happened? Su Xiaoxiao and my daughter were arguing upstairs, it must’ve been loud. Didn’t you hear it?”

“Uh…” Liang Wei’s mind raced.

He knew he couldn’t claim he hadn’t heard anything. The hospital was small and quiet, any noise would’ve been obvious.

“I did hear them,” he said, then pointed to his right leg. “But I injured my leg, I limp when I walk. I couldn’t get upstairs to check, so I didn’t go. I never imagined it would get this serious.”

“Injured?” Yamamoto Yuu stared at his leg. “Lift your pants. Let me see how you got hurt.”

Liang Wei rolled up his pants. The wound was still fresh and hadn’t scabbed over. A chunk of flesh was missing, leaving a deep, red gash.

“It happened tonight while I was checking the morgue. The lighting was bad, and I tripped and fell,” he explained.

“Alright,” Yamamoto Yuu nodded. He glanced at Chen Shu, then at Liang Wei again. “Dr. Chen, Liang Wei, we’re going to examine the scene next. If we find any discrepancies with your statements, you both know what that means.”
