Wang Zheng closed his eyes, rubbing his temples as he analyzed, “One is the sister, the other is the brother.”

“The sister is just the catalyst for the case. In reality, she doesn’t play a crucial role in solving it. She’s not important. We won’t get anything useful out of her. She’ll just keep denying everything.”

“Otherwise, the showrunners wouldn’t have left such an obvious clue, letting us find her so easily.”

“I’ve figured it out. This case is actually a battle between us and her brother. Since this is a missing person murder case, there’s a two-day window before the victim’s family reports it. This time, her brother will definitely try to cover up Su Xiaoxiao’s crime.”

“My biggest question is, what exactly has her brother done in these two days?”

The livestream chat exploded in frustration.

“Wang, stop overthinking! That guy hasn’t done anything! Just arrest him already, it’s a guaranteed win!”

“Wang is playing 5D chess while Chen Shu is still stuck at level one.”

“What a shame. This game of wits could’ve been incredible if Liang Wei had played the role instead.”

“Just end it already. Chen Shu is really not impressive.”

Meanwhile, Liang Wei, watching the livestream, was already prepared. Since the investigation team had tricked Su Xiaoxiao, it meant they would move in for Chen Shu’s capture tonight. He didn’t think Chen Shu could last any longer.

After all, he had been watching the show since the beginning. He had seen everything Chen Shu had done.

Liang Wei was frustrated. This role was originally meant for him, but due to an unexpected turn of events, a random nobody took it instead.

His frustration wasn’t just about missing the role, it was about how this amateur had ruined the entire show. The plot of this episode was fascinating. If he had played the brother, even if he couldn’t clear his name, he could have at least held out for two weeks with ease.

But in Chen Shu’s hands? He was already caught. How embarrassing.

Fortunately, director Zhang Sheng had called him earlier. Tonight would mark the end of Episode 6, and tomorrow, Episode 7 would begin seamlessly.

This time, there would be no unexpected accidents.

What? Was Chen Shu going to pull off a miracle escape? Ridiculous!

The investigation team might have overestimated him, but in reality, he had just been coasting. If someone could get away with murder by just goofing around, that would be a miracle.

Thinking of this, Liang Wei grew excited to see Chen Shu’s interrogation. The moment the investigation team realized Chen Shu hadn’t prepared anything… they’d be absolutely furious.

“Mr. Liang Wei,” a knock came at the office door.

Planner Liu Hui walked in, holding a file. “Here are the case details for Episode 7. Please prepare accordingly. Since it’s airing immediately tomorrow, time is a bit tight…”

Liang Wei waved a hand dismissively. “No problem. Back during Episode 6 preparations, I read plenty of detective novels. I’m more than ready.”

“That’s good.”

That same day, news about Episode 7 airing without a break started trending and the topic gained widespread attention. Mixed in were several trending tags about Chen Shu as well.

“#ArrestTonight: The Fastest Case Solved in Show History#”

“#Captain Wang’s Trick: The Accomplice Easily Exposed#”

“#A Nobody? Just A Complete Joke#”

The audience was hyped as if it were New Year’s Eve.

“Guys, lock in tonight’s livestream! Let’s watch Chen Shu get wrecked!”

“He thought he could have a sweet time with Su Xiaoxiao in the countryside? Now he’s about to be the biggest joke of the show.”

“Wrap it up and bring in Liang Wei tomorrow!”

“I have no idea what I just watched these past few days, felt like a kids’ game.”

8:30 PM.

Su Xiaoxiao had returned home and recounted her interrogation with Wang Zheng in detail.

“Sis, you fell for his trick,” Chen Shu sighed.

“Huh?” Su Xiaoxiao was confused.

“They know I’m your accomplice now. Tonight, they’ll come straight here to arrest me.” As he spoke, he carried a plate of roasted lamb from the kitchen. Seeing his attitude, Su Xiaoxiao grew anxious.

“Brother, stop eating! Think of a plan! I didn’t mean to mess up, Captain Wang was just too cunning!”

“Don’t worry,” Chen Shu reassured her, handing her a roasted lamb leg. “I already expected this. I knew they’d figure me out through you.”

“What?” Su Xiaoxiao was stunned.

“Those guys are on another level. You wouldn’t be able to handle them, so don’t blame yourself. Now, it’s my turn to face them.”
